Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the communication experience of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses in the workplace. Methods: The present study utilized a qualitative approach using focus group interview method. A total of three focus groups of 15 ICU nurses from two university hospitals were formed. The conversations during the focus group interviews were recorded and analyzed through Colaizzi's phenomenological method. Results: As a result of analyzing participants' conversation, Five theme clusters were elicited, namely, "one-way communication", "differences in the position of senior and junior nurses", "communication crisis", "beginning of understanding", and "movement toward change" out of 15 themes and 138 significant sentences. Conclusion: ICU nurses report having experienced communication crisis because of the one-way communication of the ICU nursing environment and the hierarchical differences in junior and senior nurses' position. Systematic education and continuous training on communication skills need to be provided to improve interpersonal relationship among nurses and work environment in the ICUs.

사물인터넷을 비롯한 다양한 형태의 통신을 활용한 응용분야가 생겨남에 따라 통신의 형태가 다양해지고 있다. 어떠한 응용은 빠른 피드백을 요구하기도 하고, 다른 응용은 수신여부와는 상관없이 데이터를 계속 보내기도 한다. 한 방향으로 데이터를 전송하는 것은 반대 방향 응답에 의해 확인될 수 있다. 이러한 정보 교환은 양방향 통신을 형성한다. 송신자는 수신자의 응답에 따라 다음 동작을 결정하므로 빠른 응답을 제공하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 셀룰러 네트워크에서 양방향 통신의 전송지연 성능을 향상시키기 위한 기지국 협력 전송 기법을 제안한다. 양방향 트래픽뿐만 아니라 동일한 방향의 트래픽을 가진 협력 기지국을 활용하는 양방향 통신 기법을 고안하였다. 제안한 방식을 통하여 지연 시간 성능이 향상됨을 확인하였다.

In order to give handiness to the management of the existing street lighting system which is based on the one way communication and to reduce the maintenance cost, the power line communication filter in the two way communication which is based on the CDMA communication and power line communication was improved and accordingly the stability of the communication performance was improved. Also, the efficiency of existing street lighting system and smart street lighting system was evaluated as Visual studio system. As a result, when the number of street lights is 10,000, the hours of daily work fell 50% and the number of necessary maintenance staff decreased 40%. Compared to the maintenance costs of the existing street lighting system, it could be expected to have the cut costs of almost 100 million won a year on the basis of 60 switch board and 1,200 street lights.

Multiple modes of communication on social media can contribute to public diplomacy in informing, conversing, and networking with members of foreign publics. However, manipulative behaviours on social media, prevalent especially in high tension contexts, create disruptions to authentic communication in what could be grey/black propaganda or information warfare. This study reviews existing literature about models of public diplomacy to guide an empirical study of China's communication in the #SouthChinaSea conversation on Twitter. It uses computational methods to identify, record, and analyze one-way, two-way, and network communication of China's actors. It employs manual qualitative research to determine the nature of China's actors. On that basis, it assesses China's Twitter communication in the issue against various models of public diplomacy.

단차로 하이패스시스템의 지 정체로 인한 교통 혼잡, 안전사고, 유지보수 등 매년 발생하는 문제를 해결하기 위해 무정차 다차로 고속주행기반 시스템의 개발이 필요하게 되었다. 하이패스 통신시스템은 단차로 환경에서 선입선출 방식이므로, 다차로 환경에서 발생하는 군집주행 및 차로전환 등 다양한 주행패턴을 처리할 수 없다. 본 논문에서는, 기존의 하이패스 단말기를 수용하면서 다차로 주행이 가능한 통신시스템을 개발했다. 능동형 RF/IR 통신 안테나를 이용해 중첩 영역은 넓히고, 오류범위를 최소화 하는 기술을 구현했다. 체험도로를 다차로 실 환경처럼 구축하여 테스트한 결과 하이패스시험기준을 통과했을 뿐 아니라, 속도별, 차로별, 차로전환별 주행시험 및 단말기 위치별 시험 결과 통신 정확도도 99.9%로 하이패스시스템의 성능을 만족했다. 무정차 다차로를 위한 통신시스템은 향후 고속도로 및 유료도로에서도 사용할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 주차장에서도 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

This study explored the contents of young children's verbal communications with their teachers in play situations. Participants were 2- to 6-year-old children. Results of observations showed 10 different verbal categories : making demands, asking questions, boasting, complementing the teacher, gaining recognition from the teacher, telling tales, explaining, making suggestions, asking permission, and insisting on one's own way. The five categories most frequently observed in older children were demanding, asking questions, boasting, explaining, and insisting on one's own way. Teachers were advised to prepare to respond more effectively to the variety of young children's verbal communication with their teachers.

Many studies are undertaken into nuclear power plants (NPPs) in preparation for accidents exceeding design standards. In this paper, we analyze the applicability of various wireless communication technologies as accident countermeasures in different NPP environments. In particular, a commercial wireless communication module (WCM) is investigated by measuring leakage current and packet error rate (PER), which vary depending on the intensity of incident radiation on the module, by testing at a Co-60 gamma-ray irradiation facility. The experimental results show that the WCMs continued to operate after total doses of 940 and 1097 Gy, with PERs of 3.6% and 0.8%, when exposed to irradiation dose rates of 185 and 486 Gy/h, respectively. In short, the lower irradiation dose rate decreased the performance of WCMs more than the higher dose rate. In experiments comparing the two communication protocols of request/response and one-way, the WCMs survived up to 997 and 1177 Gy, with PERs of 2% and 0%, respectively. Since the request/response protocol uses both the transmitter and the receiver, while the one-way protocol uses only the transmitter, then the electronic system on the side of the receiver is more vulnerable to radiation effects. From our experiments, the tested module is expected to be used for design-based accidents (DBAs) of "Category A" type, and has confirmed the possibility of using wireless communication systems in NPPs.

In a specialized modern society and/or visual communication technique seems to be preferable to the traditional one-way communication technique which resorts to reading materials. P.R materials currently produced by various levels of Korean government administrative bodies seem to outdated and inefficient both in their contents and in graphic technique employed. In this paper we argue that the problems of the communication technique used by Korean government result mainly from the ambiguous nature of the message of P.R materials and the inability to differentiate the contents of P.R materials according to the target audience. We recommend various changes to the current government communication program and emphasize the importance of graphic communication technique for the production of more effective and professional communication materials

This paper addresses the issues of affecting factors to measure the satisfaction degree in PC communication utilizations. In order to develope an optimal model, we study appropriate affecting factors in PC communication utilizations through the focus group interviews with student users, and surveys the satisfaction levels that users have felt in services. Based on the optimal regression model, we suggest an appropriate satisfaction model in PC communication utilizations. That model shows that most users are interested in the A/S area for use. A/S factor is the most powerful one to the satisfaction model. Second one is usefulness, next is DB quality. But service-ability factor and convenience one are negative ones. Most users think that their factors are in the way of fluent communication. So to keep the competitiveness in the PC communication utilizations, the negative factors should be amended as soon as possible.

The purposes of this exploratory study were to interrelate the scholastic discipline of the ‘development communication’ into ‘community development’ and ‘adult education’ in terms of interests, views and theoretical backgrounds of these fields of social sciences; and to draw some implications for developing scholastic interactions among these fields to pursue common social changes of human society. Development communications provide opportunities to set goals, to decide contents, and to utilize communication media in developmental efforts. Contemporary trends of development communication, community development and adult education are concerned with indigenous, two-way, bottom-up and people-centered communication from exogenous, one-way, top-down and institution-centered communication of the past. Multidisciplinary approaches to communication concepts and methodology may increase the potentials of community development and adult education in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. Some of the development communication approaches such as traditional and folk media approach. new media or ICT(information & communication technology) approach, participatory communication for development approach, communication support development approach and mass media approach may be applicable for community development and adult education. Better understanding on development communication approaches will be needed for the adult educators as well as community development practitioners.
