  • In this work we have synthesized ZnS:Mn nanocrystals (NCs) using a simple one step thermochemical method. $Zn(NO_3)_2$ and $Na_2S_2O_3$ were used as the precursors and $Mn(NO_3)_2$ was the source of impurity. Thioglycolic acid (TGA) was used as the capping agent and the catalyst of the reaction. The structure and optical property of the NCs were characterized by means of X- ray diffraction (XRD), HRTEM, UV-visible optical spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL). X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses demonstrated cubic phase ZnS:Mn NCs with an average size around 3 nm. Synthesized NCs exhibited band gap of about 4 eV. Photoluminescence spectra showed a yellow-orange emission with a peak located at 585 nm, demonstrating the Mn incorporation inside the ZnS particles.

  • The Cu nanofluid in ethylene glycol was prepared by electrical explosion of wire, a novel one-step method. The X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope were used to study the properties of Cu nanoparticles. The results showed that the nanoparticles were consisted of pure face-centered cubic structure and near spherical shape with average grain size of 65 nm. Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) confirmed Cu nanoparticles with a single absorbance peak of Cu surface plasmon resonance band at 600 nm. The nanofluid was found to be stable due to high positive zeta potential value, +51 mV. The backscattering level of nanofluid in static stationary was decreased about 2% for 5 days. The thermal conductivity measurement showed that Cu-ethylene glycol nanofluid with low concentration of nanoparticles had higher thermal conductivity than based fluid. The enhancement of thermal conductivity of nanofluid at a volume fraction of 0.1% was approximately 5.2%.

  • A TANT network is a three-level network composed solely of NAND gates having only true(i.e. uncomplemented) inputs. The paper presents a technique for finding for any given Boolean function a least-cost TANT network. The first step of the technique is to determine essential prime implicants(EPI) by Quine-McCluskey procedure or other methods and generate prime implicants(PI) hving the same head as any one of EPI by consensus operation. The second step is to select common factors among the usable tail factors. The selcetion phase is analogous to the use of C-C table. The last step is to minimize inputs by deleting the redundant PI. the technique permits hand solution of typical five-and six-variable problems.

  • One of the major problems in strawberry production is difficulty in diagnosis of anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum acutatum or Glomerella cingulata in latent infection stage. We here developed a diagnostic tool for the latent infection consisting of initial culturing of fungi, DNA extraction, synthesis of PCR-amplified probes and microtube hybridization (MTH) using a macroarray. The initial culturing step is convenient to lure the fungi out of the plant tissues, and to extract PCR-inhibitor-free DNA directly from fungal hyphae. For specific detection of the fungi, PCR primers were designed to amplify the fungal MAT1-2 gene. The subsequent MTH step using the PCR products as probes can replace the laborious electrophoresis step providing us sequence information and high-throughput screening. Using this method, we have conducted a survey for a few thousands nursery plants every year for three consecutive years, and finally succeeded in eliminating latent infection in the third year of challenge.

  • One of the issues in extending the range of applicable problems of real-time hybrid simulation is the computation speed of the simulator when large-scale computational models with a large number of DOF are used. In this study, functionality of real-time dynamic simulation of MDOF systems is achieved by creating a logic circuit that performs the step-by-step numerical time integration of the equations of motion of the system. The designed logic circuit can be implemented to an FPGA-based system; FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) allows large-scale parallel computing by implementing a number of arithmetic operators within the device. The operator splitting method is used as the numerical time integration scheme. The logic circuit consists of blocks of circuits that perform numerical arithmetic operations that appear in the integration scheme, including addition and multiplication of floating-point numbers, registers to store the intermediate data, and data busses connecting these elements to transmit various information including the floating-point numerical data among them. Case study on several types of linear and nonlinear MDOF system models shows that use of resource sharing in logic synthesis is crucial for effective application of FPGA to real-time dynamic simulation of structural response with time step interval of 1 ms.

  • Large grain YBCO bulk superconductors are fabricated by the top-seeded melt growth (TSMG) or top-seeded infiltration growth (TSIG) method. Both growth methods use at least one of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$, $Y_2BaCuO_5$, $BaCuO_3$ pre-reacted precursor powders. However, the synthesis of the pre-reacted powders includes multiple calcination runs which are cost-bearing and time-consuming. In this work, we report the successful growth of single-domain YBCO bulk superconductors directly by using the powder compact that has been pressed from the mixture of $Y_2O_3$, $BaCuO_3$ and CuO powders without any intermediate grinding step. Single-domain YBCO bulk superconductor has been also prepared by using $Y_2O_3$, $BaO_2$ and CuO powders without intermediate grinding step. Investigations on the trapped magnetic field and microstructure of the melt-processed specimen show that the elimination of the repeated processes of calcinations and pulverization has hardly affected on the crystal growth and the magnetic properties of the grown YBCO bulk superconductors. However, it is thought that the presence of residual carbon affects on the size of Y211 particles in melt-processed YBCO bulk superconductor.

  • $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ is an excellent red-emitting phosphor, which has been widely used for display devices due to highly luminescent property and chemical stability. In this study, $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ red phosphors were prepared using the solid state reaction and RF thermal plasma synthesis. The particle size of $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ phosphors obtained by the solid state reaction varied from 10 to $20{\mu}m$, and 30~100 nanometer sized $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ particles were obtained from a liquid form of raw material through RF thermal plasma synthesis without an additional heat treatment. Photoluminescence measurements of the obtained $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ particles showed a red emission peak at 611 nm ($^5D_0{\rightarrow}^7F_2$). PL intensity of red nano phosphors prepared by RF thermal plasma synthesis was comparable to that of red phosphors prepared by the solid state reaction, indicating that nano-sized $Y_2O_3:Eu^{3+}$ red phosphors could be successfully synthesized using one-step process of RF thermal plasma.

  • This treatise begins with finding a meaning of Paul Klee's . It is pretty simpleto choose the square of Klee. The most important formative language for twenty century is abstraction. The element of speaking for abstraction issquare. The artists are trying to contain the nature and universe in the square. The role of magic square consisting with small squares of Klee is crystallized. The other side, the test of this study is a method analysis. The method analysis is changing while concept and style have been changing according to a period. The existing method analysis is an iconology used many times in Art history. This treatise introduces France symbolists, Bernard Cocula and Claude Peyroutet's analysis of a meaning of image(Semantique do l'image) who were applied to Modern Art. based on Iconography. It also applies to analysis of artwork of Klee. Cocula's is developed from one phase to five phase step by step. The first phase deals with an appearance of artwork. Subsequently, the second phase is directly adjacent to personal feeling and impression. This is an adequate method for image study in the analysis of modern arts. This phase makes it a rule to enjoy talking with artworks above all. The third phase begins with this question 'What do you see? (que voyons-nous?).' The applies exhaustively and strictly to complicated image artworks which need an elaborate analysis. It is very hard but audiences must try to maintain neutrality in front of artwork because cord formation and interpretation should be formed objectively. The meaning analysis and interpretation of the forth phase begins with this question 'what is the image rouse'(qu'evoque cote image?).' This phase is the most important in a process of symbolic analysis. The audience investigates personal elements and common elements. The fifth is synthetic analysis and interpretation phase. The synthesis is last phase and it reaches a valuation and a conclusion. Namely, the synthesis phase makes up synthesis conclusion, summarizes image character, and completes value adjudication. Sometimes it completes no conclusions in a silence. This study found a new possible analysis example from Paul Klee's work. The study emphasizes square analysis and interpretation and uses . The analysis of artwork by Cocula's is an example of the most important work of Klee's three artworks. The first analysis of artwork is and the second one is . The third one is . In these analyses, Klee usedmagic square 'to make natural pictorial element and to explain organic living things.'

  • This experiment was carried out to detect the cymbidium mosaic virus (CymMV) and the odontoglossum ringspot virus (ORSV) in the seed-derived plantlets of Phalaenopsis imported from Taiwan by one-step reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Simple and rapid crude plant extracts for RT-PCR were prepared. The reverse transcription step was performed at $42^{\circ}C$ for 45 min and the following thermal cycling scheme was used for 36 reaction cycles: template predenaturation at $96^{\circ}C$ for 2 min, template denaturation at $96^{\circ}C$ for 30 s, primer annealing at $60^{\circ}C$ for 30 s, and DNA synthesis at $72^{\circ}C$ for 1 min. Of the 40 seed-derived plantlets of Phalaenopsis imported from Taiwan, all of them were infected with CymMV, but ORSV was not detected.

  • An efficient method for construction of 2-arylfiirans has been developed by ceric(IV) ammonium nitratemediated oxidative cycloaddition of cyclic and acyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds to several alkynes. Reactions of 1,3-cyclohexanedione, 1,3-cyclopentanedione, and 2,4-pentanedione with several alkynes furnish 2-arylfurans in 26-75% yields. Extension of this technology to more complex 4-hydroxy-2-quinolone and 3-hydroxy-lH-phenalen-l-one with phenylacetylene also affords furoquinolinone and ftirophenalenone derivative in moderate yields. Reaction of 4-hydroxycoumarins with phenylacetylene give linear and angular furocoumarin derivatives as a mixture of regioisomer in good yields. The mechanistic pathway for the formation of 2-arylfurans has been also described.
