DC 변전소 몰드변압기 온라인 상태 감시 시스템 구현 (Implementation of a Condition Monitoring System for Mold Transformers in DC Substations)

  • The mold transformer is a complex and critical component of DC substations in Metro system. In this paper, a cost effective and intelligent condition monitoring system for mold transformers in DC substations was developed. This paper also provides an overview of the management program using PD (partial discharge) data on mold transformers. Prior to application of the proposed system to Metro DC substations, experiments were performed at the metro line substation located in Seoul and presented case studies for the use of the intelligent condition monitoring system for mold transformer in DC substations. The experiment results indicated that the developing system can be need in helping mange the risk of unexpected failure of mold type transformers.

  • Most domestic fossil power plants have exceeded 100,000 hours of operation with the severe operating condition. Among the critical components of fossil power plant, high temperature steam pipe systems have had a many problems and damage from unstable displacement behavior because of frequent start up and shut down. In order to prevent the serious damage and failure of the critical pipe system in fossil power plants, 3-dimensional displacement measurement system was developed for the on-line monitoring. Displacement measurement system was developed with a use of a LVDT type sensor and two rotary encoder type sensors. This system was installed and operated on the real power plant successfully.

  • On-line partial discharge monitoring system for generator stator insulation is developed. This system consists of remote and host units. The remote unit detects partial discharge signals from SSC(Stator Slot Coupler) installed between wedge and stator windings. The host unit monitors the condition of winding insulation. This system will be used as a module of a generator on-line monitoring system utilizing global network.

  • ln this paper, it was reported the developed results of the monitoring unit for 72.5kY GIS which it is one part of the monitoring system for the substation that Korea Railway Company is promoting. In order to monitor the operational status of GIS, four parameters were chosen: the number of times of the circuit breaker switching, tightness of the gas-sealed units (circuit breaker / disconnecting switch / earthing switch), the number of times of the lightning arrestor operating and the leakage current of the lighting arrester. We constructed the monitoring system that can be judged the operating condition of the GIS from the signal of the suitable sensor for the purpose. Therefore, it is possible to on line monitoring for the condition of the GlS without efforts of the Periodic inspection.

  • Partial discharge testing are rapidly becoming the most powerful tool to assess the condition of high voltage generator and motor stator windings. Recently, on-line monitoring scheme with trending technique is widely applied in insulation diagnosis. This paper describes the on-line partial discharge detecting techniques in the high voltage motor stator windings. Also, on-line monitoring system for an insulation diagnosis are proposed.

  • Many industrial operations require continuous or nearly-continuous operation of machines, interruption of which can result in significant cost loss. The condition monitoring of these machines has received considerable attentions in recent years. Rapid developments in semiconductor, computing, and communication with a remote site have led to a new generation of sensor called "smart" sensors which are capable of wireless communication with a remote site. The purpose of this research is to develop a new type of smart sensor for on-line condition monitoring. This system is addressed to detect conditions that may lead to equipment failure when it is running. Moreover it will reduce condition monitoring expense using low cost MEMS accelerometer. This system is capable for signal preprocessing task and analog to digital converter which is controlled by CPU. This sensor communicates with a remote site PC using TCP/IP protocols. The developed sensor executes performance tests for data acquisition accuracy estimations.

  • The Multivariate State Estimation Technique (MSET) is being used in Nuclear Power Plants for sensor and equipment condition monitoring. This paper presents the use of regularization methods for optimizing MSET's predictive performance. The techniques are applied to a simulated data set and a data set obtained from a nuclear power plant currently implementing empirical, on-line, equipment condition monitoring techniques. The results show that regularization greatly enhances the predictive performance. Additionally, the selection of prototype vectors is investigated and a local modeling method is presented that can be applied when computational speed is desired.

  • In this paper, a novel monitoring system, data acquisition & diagnosis unit (DADU), for high-voltage rotating machines is proposed. This system monitors the insulation condition, current, voltage, vibration, and temperature of the stator winding by on-line measurements of partial discharge (PD), flux, etc. This helps more efficient operation and maintenance of the rotating machines.

  • Condition monitoring of the reciprocating compressor is important task. As a traditional method, health monitoring system of refrigerator depends on decision of a skilled person based on his experience. However, the skilled person cannot monitor all the compressors completely. If a sampled compressor is faulty, thousands of compressors manufactured at that place are regarded as faulty compressors. Therefore it is necessary to monitor all compressors in the production line. In the paper real time health monitoring system is developed based on high order time frequency method and artificial neural network. The system is installed in the mass production line. The result of the application has been very successful, and currently the system is working very well on the production line.
