Objectives The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effects of an oriental medical treatment on the patient with allergic purpura. Methods A 7-year-old female patient, who was suffering from the purpura on her extremities: swelling and arthralgia on her lower extremities, was treated by herb medicine, acupuncture and pediluvium. Results Treated only with oriental medicine, the patient's allergic symptoms were improved. When we checked back on her condition after 2 months later, she did not show any recurrence of the flares, and regained her health. Conclusions This study shows that oriental medical treatments are effective on allergic purpura, but further clinical studies are needed.

Kleine-Levin syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of hypersomnia, hyperphagia, hypersexuality and delusion and hallucination with spontaneous recovery. A 17-year-old female suddenly showed hypersomnia, severe fatigue, and compulsive hyperphagia. She was diagnosed with suspected Kleine-Levin Syndrome. The precipitating factor was an upper respiratory tract infection that the patient had undergone 2 weeks prior. Past psychiatric history included somnambulism and ADHD; her symptoms of ADHD included attention deficit, impulsiveness, hyperactivity, and irritability. This was her third episode. Her hypersomnia was longer in duration but lower in frequency compared with usual KLS. Her low LF/HF ratio in heart rate variability measurement showed high parasympathetic nerve activity. A MMPI report showed some psychological problem. The patient was diagnosed of gastric fever by pattern identification. Her hypersomnia episode improved 6 weeks after onset. This is the first reported case of suspected Kleine-Levin Syndrome in the field of Oriental Medicine in Korea.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM) on hyperprolactinemia Methods: The patient in this case was a 26-year-old female. The patient was diagnosed as hyperprolactinemia with oligomenorrhea a month ago. We treated by Ickibohyoultang-gami and evaluated treatment effect by serum prolactin and basal body temperature. Results: After treatment, the Hyperprolactinemia value reduced and returned normal approach. And disorder of menstruation and basal body temperature became stable. Conclusions: TKM treatment is effective in patients with Hyperprolactinemia and disorder of menstruation.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effects of Korean medical treatment on the patient with cervical radiculopathy. Methods: A 16-year-old female patient, who was suffering from the cervical radiculopathy on her Lt. shoulder: ROM limit, swelling and arthralgia, was treated by herbal medicine, physical therapy, acupuncture and pharmacupuncture. Results: As a result, the patient's left upper limb disability was improved by Korean herbal medicine (ssanghwatang hap gamiseokyungtang), hominis placenta (Ja-ha-geou) pharmacupuncture and physical therapy. Conclusions This study showed that Korean medical treatments can be an effective choice for cervical radiculopathy.

In this article, we report a rare case of a 22-year-old male with bilateral pulmonary sequestration, treated with embolization and surgical resection. The initial plan involved staged bilateral lobectomy for both lungs and prophylactic embolization of feeding vessels for preventing unexpected hemorrhage during operation. Symptomatic right lower lobe was resected with video-assisted thoracic surgery after embolization, and the patient refused surgery of left lower lobe upon symptomatic relief. The two-year follow-up examination revealed that the patient was healthy and had no relevant discomfort.

We experienced a case of dental treatment under general anesthesia in a 22-year-old female patient with dysphagia and dental phobia following partial glossectomy. She was diagnosed of squamous cell carcinoma of tongue and received surgical, radiation treatment two years ago. We report the experiences of anesthetic management for dental treatment in a patient with dysphagia and dental phobia following partial glossectomy.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of $Sa-am$ acupuncture treatment on an interstitial cystitis patient. Methods : A 51 year-old woman who diagnosed as interstitial cystitis, was enrolled in this study. The clinical data was analyzed on a patient with interstitial cystitis due to $Shinheo$(腎虛). The patient had visited Korean medicine department of Yangsan public health care center, and was treated with a $Sa-am$ acupuncture($Sinjeongkyeok$) for 4 weeks. Results : After 4 weeks of $Sa-am$ acupunture treatment($Sinjeongkyeok$), improvement was seen in the subsection of the international prostate symptom score and the part of qualiveen questionnaire score. Conclusions : This clinical case indicates that acupuncture treatment is significantly effective in treatment of a interstitial cystitis.

Objectives : This study is a clinical report about 19-year-old male patient with Duodenal ulcer. Methods : The patient was treated by acupuncture, herb medication. The improvement of the symtoms was evaluated by Visual Analog Scale(VAS), Endoscopy. Results : Brash was gradually reduced and dyspepsia got improved. Conclusions : Oriental medical treatment was effective to improve duodenal ulcer. There should be more observation about patients with duodenal ulcer.

Here, A forty year old patient is presented, showing azoospermia following vasovasostomy. The bilateral testicular biopsies were performed to confirm whether ductal obstruction due to vasovasostomy or testicular failure existed. The finding of biopsy was spermatogenic arrest. After completion of medical testicular stimulation with clomiphene citrate and pentoxifilline for 3 months, repeat vasovasostomy was performed. Semenanaylsis revealed normal sperm parameters after operation. Necessity of testicular biopsy before deciding repeat vasovasostomy, accuracy of testicular biopsy, efficacy of testicular stimulation in the patient with spermatogenic arrest and effect of testicular biopsy on testicular fuction are discussed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to report the effect of oriental treatments for the postpartum disease caused by abortion in an elderly gravida. Methods: The patient in this case, 40 years-old female was admitted at You-Min oriental medicine hospital for 26days($3rd/Jan/2007{\sim}29th/Jan/2007$) due to postpartum disease caused by abortion. Her chief complains were chilling, vertigo, nausea, whole body pain, and sweating. This patient was treated with oriental treatment such as herb medication, acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. Results: After the oriental medical treatment, the patient was improved in the clinical symptom of postpartum disease caused by abortion and the aging process. Conclusion: This case study shows that the postpartum disease caused by abortion in an elderly gravida would be treated more carefully in oriental medicine considering women#s aging.
