  • Recently, the research on the construction of optical Internet backbone networks using WDM has been actively progressed. In this paper, we propose the offset based service-differentiation scheme in optical burst switching (OBS) networks. We classify the services into two classes; high class and low class. The proposed scheme decides the offset time of high class so as to satisfy the required burst loss rate (BLR) of services according to the service-differentiation ratio (SDR). The SDR may be set depending on the environment of OBS network and user's requirements, our scheme decides the BLR of high class by using the required SDR and conservation law. Finally, we use the offset time decision (OTD) algorithm to determine the offset time of high class. The proposed scheme is evaluated through simulation. The result of simulation is compared with that of analysis to verify the proposed scheme.

  • The need increased capacity in the cellular system has resulted in the adoption of digital technology with CDMA as the channel access method. It has been recognized that the distinction of the base station is important for its performance in CDMA, since the same spreading sequences are used by the all base stations. Time offset of the pseudo-random noise binary code are used to distinguish signals received at a mobile station from different base station. But the start of the zero offset PN sequence is chosen arbitrary without the background of the systematic and mathematical elaboration. This paper proposes a mothed that define the start of the zero offset PN sequence mathematically. This paper also discusses a method that can easily calculate the time offset of the received spreading sequence with respect to the zero offset PN sequence.

  • In this paper, the numerical inverse kinematics analysis is presented for a collaborative robot with an offset wrist. Robot manipulators with offset wrist are widely used in industrial applications, due to many advantages over those with wrist center and those with three parallel axes such as simple mechanical design, light weight, and so on. There may not exist a closed-form solution for a robot manipulator with offset wrist. A simple numerical method is applied to solve the inverse kinematics with offset wrist. Singularity is analyzed using Jacobian matrix and the numerical inverse kinematics algorithm is implemented on the real-time controller.

  • In an OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing) system, the sampling frequency offset between the transmitter and receiver is known to cause the interchannel interference (ICI), resulting in performance degradation. In this paper, we propose two time-domain techniques to estimate the sampling frequency offset, especially for a high data-rate OFDM system. The first technique estimates the sampling frequency offset by using the phase difference between two received samples with a fixed amount of time interval, corresponding to the transmitted training symbol, under the assumption of perfect symbol and carrier offset synchronization. The second technique estimates the sampling frequency offset and carrier frequency offset jointly, when the two offsets exist together, by using two training symbols with different frequency components and using a sample algebraic calculation. The proposed estimation techniques for sampling frequency offset cause no time delay due to all time-domain processing, and have a good performance due to no ICI effect. The performances of the proposed techniques are demonstrated by various simulations.

  • In this paper, we designed a frequency synthesizer with a low phase noise and fast lock time and excellent spurious characteristics using the offset-PLL(Phase Locked Loop) that is used in GSM(Global System for Mobile communications). The proposed frequency synthesizer has low phase noise using three times down conversion and third offset frequency of this synthesizer is created by DDS(Direct Digital Synthesizer) to have high frequency resolution. Also, this synthesizer has fast switching speed using DAC(Digital to Analog Converter). but phase noise degraded due to DAC. we improved performance using the DAC noise filter.

  • This paper proposes time management system for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) network. The computers of the UAVs need time synchronization that time offset does not exceed the minimum interval of data samples for errorless data blending between the computers. The proposed time management system is composed of time synchronization and general management systems for UAV control. The systems communicate each other for time information and control signals. The synchronization system uses improved version of existing time offset estimation that network time protocol (NTP) uses. The time synchronization is operated when the time offset of any UAV exceeds threshold that preconfigured by the general management system. The demonstration of prototype shows stable time synchronization satisfying preconfigured threshold.

  • In this paper, a new offset algorithm for closed 2D lines with islands is introduced and the result is illustrated. The main point of the proposed algorithm is that every point is set to be an offset by using bisectors, and then invalid offset lines, which are not to be participated in offsets, are detected in advance and handled with an invalid offset edge handling algorithm. As a result, raw offset lines without local invalid loops are generated. The proposed offset method is proved to be robust and simple, moreover, has a near O(n) time complexity, where n denotes the number of input lines. In addition, the proposed algorithm has been implemented and tested with 2D lines of various shapes.

  • In the process control applications of self tuning control, a major concern of the control problem is to handle an offset caused by load disturbances and random steps occuring at random instance of time. Conventionally an integrator is incorperated in the forward path of the controller to eliminate such an offset. But this approach causes a difficulty if the adaptive part of the resultant controller is to be evaluated. In this paper a method of analyzing the adaptive system and improving the offset effect is suggested for a class of referance model method in the self tuning adaptive control system.

  • Reverse offset printing is considering as an emerging technology for printed electronics owing to its environmentally friendliness and cost-effectiveness. In reverse offset printing, selecting the materials for cliché and blanket is critical because of its minimum resolution, registration errors, aspect ratio of reliefs, pattern area, and reusability. Various materials such as silicon, quartz, glass, electroplated nickel plates, and imprinted polymers on rigid substrates can be used for the reverse offset printing of cliché. However, when new structures are designed for specific applications, new clichés need to re-fabricated each time employing multiple time-consuming and costly processes. Therefore, by modifying the blanket materials containing the printing ink, several new structures can be easily created using the same cliché. In this study, we investigated various elastomeric materials and evaluated their applicability for designing a highly stretchable blanket with controlled elastic deformation to implement tunable reverse offset printing.
