Officers and noncommissioned officers are the leaders of the military. Every year, more than 5,000 first-time officers are commissioned and perform their duties in various parts of the country. There is a conflict between officers and noncommissioned officers over the efficiency of experience. First-time officers are experiencing experience and a loss of authority from older noncommissioned officers and a failure to obey orders. Noncommissioned officers have complaints about first-time officers who want to direct only by class.Conflicts between officers and noncommissioned officers have existed in the past, but some first-time officers were resolved when they gained experience. Recently, the chief executives protested against the Chief of Staff's words and actions. I would like to study the cause of conflict between officers and noncommissioned officers and suggest solutions.
This study conducted a comparative analysis of awareness level of review standards, continuing education, and awareness about the need for speciality and educational courses in order to improve quality of Korean health insurance review work and to present directions for policies of personnel development and continuing education to smoothly perform hospital's insurance claim work and Agency's review work. The analysis unit of the study is individuals, and survey was conducted among hospital's claim officers and Agency' review officers by distributing questionnaires. The major results of the study are as follows: First, it is found that hospital's claim officers and Agency's review officers have conflicting awareness about review standards; more Agency's review officers think that current review standards are universal and reasonable, while more hospital's claim officers believe that they need to be revised. Especially, hospital's claim officers replied that it is possible that review results can differ according to government's policies. Second, there is no significant difference between the two groups in the opinion that there are individual differences in awareness level of review standard. In particular, both groups share the opinion that review results can differ according to officer's interpretation of review standards. Third, Both review officer groups feel the need for further training and continuing education. Fourth, there is no difference between the two groups in the opinion that both groups members should be educated in review related educational institutions. However, while 81.5% of Agency's review officers the education should be offered at the Agency, only 45.2% of hospital's claim officers agreed to it. Fifth, both review personnel do not show any difference in awareness of needed experience to successfully perform review work; both groups replied that three to four years experience is necessary to smoothly perform claim work and review work. This study was tried in order to search for directions to improve Korean insurance review work in quality rather than to explore characteristics themselves of individual factors. In this sense, this study presupposed an intention that the educational subjects for further training and continuing education for the two groups should be the same in order to narrow the awareness gap between hospital's claim officers and Agency's review officers. Thus, this study suggests that it is desirable to offer beginner courses at junior colleges or in undergraduate courses and advanced courses in professional graduate school for six to twelve months. In that a comparison of awareness level of hospital's claim officers and Agency's review officers who are actually in practice should precede appropriate presentation of directions for the qualitative improvement of insurance review work in Korea, the significance of this study lies in comparatively analyzing the awareness level of hospital's claim officers and Agency's review officers and in presenting the establishment of future further training and continuing education.
Traffic police officers are faced with many dangerous accidents due to outside duties on roads. Yet, researches on traffic officers' uniforms have mainly been focused on design aspects rather than functional aspects. This study therefore aims to figure out traffic officers' perceived needs for their uniforms and to offer some basic guidelines in manufacturing versatile safety vests for wearers. The study used a documentary survey replied by 236 traffic officers. The results of the study are as follows: 1. There are 10 different types of vests currently used by traffic officers. Vests are employed for purposes such as carrying police equipments, enabling officers to be noticeable in dark, protecting the body, etc. 2. Officers wear these vests which were officially designated by law. Among them, fluorescence versatile safety vests were most frequently worn by officers. 3. Officers who wore ready-made vests of which size was already determined, tended to perceive that the vests were relatively larger than their own size. 4. In terms of the functions of the vests, officers expressed needs for the improvement of the LED and retro-reflection tape along with the addition of thermal function to existing vests. The improvement of the form and functions of versatile safety vests which reflect needs of the users will boost the dignity and the sense of duty of the traffic police officers.

Fatigue is known to detrimentally affect a person's performance. Also, fatigue may reduce effectiveness and efficiency of marine officers and crew members. The purpose of this research is to understand on the status of the marine officers' fatigue. In this study, we carried out the questionnaire survey which is related to the marine officers' fatigue factors such as work, sleep and rest hour or period, sleepiness, casual factor, fatigue symptom, etc. The questionnaire contained 25 questions and it was distributed among 1,033 marine officers(deck officers 607 and engineers 426). The results of this survey show that marine officers' fatigue is a casual factor in marine accidents such as collisions, groundings and there was a fatigue difference between deck officers and engineers.

Women represent only 1 and 2 percent of the 1.25million maritime officers in the world. Despite the slight increase of female maritime officers, there are few studies concerning them indicating that there has been insufficient progress especially on merchant ships. This study refers to the data from carried out 173 female students in Korea Maritime University and suggests the strategy of vitalization for female maritime officers using AHP and SWOT analysis.

The need of development of police officers' uniforms for the summer season has increased due to rises in temperature. This research developed a t-shirt typed of police officer's uniform for summer weather. We analyzed the design cases of national and international police officers' uniforms, similar types of uniforms, and t-shirts for summer weather. The satisfaction with current uniforms and preferences for these types of uniforms were surveyed with 1,062 police officers and public participants. Designs were developed and design opinions were surveyed with 1,011 public volunteers. A total of 584 police officers wore developed prototypes for two weeks, and surveys were conducted with 328 police officers to reflect the final design results. More than 80% of police officers have very satisfied or satisfied opinions of the developed designs. The study is expected to enhance police officers' satisfaction with the developed uniforms for summer weather.
Background: This study examines quality of life (QOL) of a sample of police officers in India. The concept of QOL includes well-being, social obligations, relationships of a person, and his association with environment. The study examines the factors on which QOL of police officers depend and their relationships with each other. The issues linked with QOL are important because they directly affect the individual's ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle and affect organizational performance in the long run. This study explores relevant factors that have an impact on the QOL of the employees of police department in India. Method: In this paper, literatures review, ISM, MICMAC, and DEMATEL methodology have established eleven factors that impact the QOL of police officers in India. Mutual relations between factors have been established using the ISM approach to develop a model to represent these relationships. DEMATEL methodologies were used to analyze these factors. Results: Results indicate that "fair compensation, work overload, workplace safety, and job stress" are the top-level factors that affect QOL of police officers. Conclusion: The identification of factors and their mutual relationships that affect QOL are important for police officers and have to be dealt with according to their order of importance. The research model developed in this study shows how the factors of police officers' QOL are interrelated and presents the interrelationships among these factors. A comprehensive model depicting the relationships among these factors has been established, so that the QOL of police officers can be improved.
Foreign maritime officers were employed in Korean flag ocean-going merchant ships since the year of 2005. And the number of foreign maritime officers in Korean ship has been rapidly increased, and it approaches 700 recently. The shortage of Korean maritime officers was mainly claimed the reason of employing foreign maritime officers in Korean flag ship. In this paper, we surveyed the number of newly supplied officers from every Korean training institution, the number of officers on-board, on-leave, on-job hunting, and the number of officers leaving their job every year. And then we analysed supply-demand situation of Korean maritime officers for Korean flag ocean-going ships for reasonable decision-making in relation with employing foreign maritime officers.
The objective of this study is to provide basic information for planning and practicing social welfare services for married nurse officers serving in the Korean military. For such a purpose, this study identifies the difficulties which married nurse officers have faced and the necessary services which are supposed to alleviate them. The data were collected by sending a questionnaire to 114 married nurse officers from July 16 to August 10, 2001. The results of this study are as follows: First, the married nurse officers were relatively dissatisfied with such domains as child care and education, health, and housing. And among the thirty-four problems, the married nurse officers expressed the most serious dissatisfaction with the difficulty in attending the events held in child's school, lack of children's dormitory run by the military, difficulty in adjusting to the school due to frequent house-moving, and limited access to dental care. Second, the married nurse officers needed services in domains such as housing, child care and education, and health. Specifically, they wanted the military-run housing, child care facility within military hospitals, maternity leave for child care and education, extension of risk allowances, and support for BOQ. Third, with regard to the seriousness of problems as well as the priority of services, the married nurse officers gave higher priority to such domains as child care and education, health, and housing. These results indicate that married nurse officers were to the largest extent concerned with these three domains and that they had the urgent need for services relevant to those domains. The importance of routine need assessments as well as solutions to the family-related problems for married nurse officers is therefore suggested in this study.
Background: The objective of this study was to determine the practice of skin cancer prevention among Malaysian road traffic police officers. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 202 Malaysian Road Police Traffic officers. Inclusion criteria were those officers who work wearing white uniform regulating traffic. The survey took place at the Police Traffic Station, Jln Tun H.S. Lee, Kuala Lumpur, the main Head Quarters of Malaysian's Traffic Department where almost 600 police traffic officers are employed. The police traffic officers are given the task to take care of the traffic from the main office of the police station, then, according to the task, the officers drive to their given location for their duty. Each task is approved by the Chief Traffic Inspector of Kuala Lumpur. Data collected in this study were analyzed using SPSS 13, with the T-test for univariate analysis and multiple linear regression for multivariate analysis. Results: A total of 202 road traffic police officers participated. The majority were older than 30 years of age, male, Malay, married, with secondary education, with monthly income more than 2000 Ringgit Malaysia (66.3%, 91.1%, 86.6%, 84.7%, 96%, 66.3%; respectively). Regarding the practice of skin cancer prevention, 84.6% of the study participants were found to wear hats, 68.9% sunglasses and 85.6% clothing that covering most of the body but only 16.9% used a sunscreen when they were outdoors. When analysis of the factors that influenced the practice of skin cancer prevention was performed, univariate analysis revealed that gender, age and monthly income significantly influenced the practice of skin cancer prevention. For multivariate analysis, gender, monthly income and race significantly influenced the practice of using sunscreen among road traffic police officers (p<0.001, p=0.019, p=0.027; respectively). Conclusions: The practice of skin cancer prevention among the traffic police officers showed good practices in terms of wearinga hat, sun glasses and clothing that covers most of the body. However, the study revealed a poor practice of the use of sunscreen. The factors that influence the practice of sunscreen use were found to be gender, income, and race. The study suggests that more awareness campaign among traffic police officers is needed. Providing sunscreen for free for police traffic officers should be considered by the Police authorities.
