The purpose of this study is to survey the occupational therapists's vocational core competency. Study subjects were 138 occupational therapists and 95 students majored occupational therapy and they participated in the survey about the vocational core ability to confirm the factors about the vocational core ability. As the results of these, both occupational therapists and university students majored occupational therapy felt the need for vocational ability and communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, and problem-solving skills were found to be important, and that they also possessed them. However, only in the group of students majored occupational therapy showed that technical skills were important, but they did not possess the most. Accordingly, it is necessary to consider a curriculum that can collect knowledge and information on various skills necessary for actual vocational performance as the occupational therapist.

Objective : In this study, we are going to check the impact of the daily performance of a child with developmental disabilities on the parent's burden and quality of life. Methods : 120 parents of children with developmental disabilities were targeted in Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces. To measure the daily performance ability of children with developmental disabilities, we used evaluative Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory and The burden of parents was measured by Family Burden Questionnaire and the quality of life by Beach Center Family Quality of Life Scale. Based on the data collected, independent t-test, one-way anova, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted to check the impact of a child's daily performance ability of developmental disability on the parent's burden and quality of life. Results : The daily performance ability of a children with developmental disabilities showed a negative correlation with the burden of the parents and a positive correlation with the quality of life. The hygiene and bowel & bladder control of children with developmental disabilities had an important influence on parent's burden, while hygiene, toileting, and bowel & bladder control of children with developmental disabilities had a significant effect on their parent's quality of life. Conclusion : It has been shown that the daily performance ability of a children with developmental disabilities has a major influence on parent's burden and quality of life. In order to reduce the burden and improve quality of life, therapeutic intervention, education and interview programs for daily life of children with developmental disabilities need to be carried out systematically by occupational therapists.
The work plate in a construction sites is a frequent cause of falling. But the bulk of the work plates lent to the construction site are handled carelessly by workers. There is general concern about performance declining by repetitive use. However, there is not a accurate guide, research and study on reuse work plate. This study was conducted in order to judge the classification guide to reuse work plate and measure the performance of classified reuse work plates. It is the result that even the A-grade plates classified to be in good shape by workers are below the performance standard. This means that the guide and classification are ineffective.
Background: Night shift work is associated with many problems such as sleep deprivation, sleepiness, decreased cognitive performance, increased human errors, and fatigue. This study set out to measure cognitive performance, melatonin rhythms, and sleep after different consecutive night shifts (7 vs. 4) among control room operators (CORs). Methods: The participants included 60 CORs with a mean age of 30.2 years (standard deviation, 2.0) from a petrochemical complex located in Southern Iran. Cognitive performance was assessed using the n-back task and continuous performance test. To evaluate melatonin, saliva was collected and tested by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. To assess sleep and sleepiness, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Karolinska Sleepiness Scale were used, respectively. Results: Individuals who worked 7 consecutive night shifts had a significantly better cognitive performance and sleep quality than those who worked 4 consecutive night shifts. However, salivary melatonin profile and sleepiness trend were not affected by shift type. Conclusion: The main duty of CORs working night shifts at the studied industry included managing safety-critical processes through complex displays; a responsibility that demands good cognitive performance and alertness. It is suggested that an appropriate number of consecutive night shifts in a rotating shift system should be planned with the ultimate aim of improving CROs performance/alertness and enhancing safety.
Background: Thermophysiological comfort in a cold environment is mainly ensured by clothing. However, the thermal performance and protective abilities of textile fabrics may be sensitive to extreme environmental conditions. This article evaluated the thermal insulation properties of three technical textile assemblies and determined the influence of environmental parameters (temperature, humidity, and wind speed) on their insulation capacity. Methods: Thermal insulation capacity and air permeability of the assemblies were determined experimentally. A sweating-guarded hotplate apparatus, commonly called the "skin model," based on International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 11092 standard and simulating the heat transfer from the body surface to the environment through clothing material, was adopted for the thermal resistance measurements. Results: It was found that the assemblies lost about 85% of their thermal insulation with increasing wind speed from 0 to 16 km/h. Under certain conditions, values approaching 1 clo have been measured. On the other hand, the results showed that temperature variation in the range (-40℃, 30℃), as well as humidity ratio changes (5 g/kg, 20 g/kg), had a limited influence on the thermal insulation of the studied assemblies. Conclusion: The present study showed that the most important variable impacting the thermal performance and protective abilities of textile fabrics is the wind speed, a parameter not taken into account by ISO 11092.

To evaluate the effect of lead biomarkers including bone lead on neurobehavioral test in retired lead workers, 131 retired lead workers without any occupational exposure to organic solvent, mercury and arsenic were agreed to participate this study. For the control subjects 56 non-occupationally lead exposed subjects were recruited from same area of retired lead workers with consideration of demographic characteristics. The mean levels of blood and bone lead of retired lead workers were significantly higher than control group and there were significant correlation among other lead biomarkers. Compared with controls without occupational lead exposure, lead exposured subjects had worse performance on 10 tests out of 12 neurobehavioral tests, but only two tests(Purdue pegboard nondominant and both hand) showed statistical significance of differences. In multiple linear regression analysis of neurobehavioral tests with lead biomarkers and demographic and lifestyle variables, age was associated negatively with 11 neurobehavioral tests, whereas log-transformed ZPP was associated with Purdue pegboard(both hand) and Santa Ana manual dexterity(non-dominant hand). On the other hand, tibia lead was associated Pursuit aiming test(correct) and Purdue pegboard(dominant hand) and calcaneal lead was associated with Purdue pegboard(dominant hand). This study confirmed that among all relevant variables age was most significantly associated with the poor performance of neurobehavioral tests. The blood lead did not have any significant association with neurobehavioral tests, but tibia and calcaneal bone lead and blood ZPP showed significant association with a few tests even after more than mean 9 years from their retirements.

In this study, in order to secure the necessity of introducing the safety certification system for the assembled temporary equipment and materials, the feasibility of the introduction was analyzed through literature review, structural analysis, and actual experiments and surveys related to the assembled temporary equipment and materials. In the previous studies, it was found that the research on the assembled temporary equipment and materials was insufficient, and it was possible to grasp the necessity of introducing the safety certification system for the assembled temporary equipment and materials. In addition, in the results of the serious accident analysis, it was found that the soundness of the temporary equipment and materials is determined by the structural characteristics after it was assembled. As a result of the feasibility analysis of the introduction of the safety certification of the assembled temporary equipment and materials through structural analysis, it is possible to effectively and rationally reflect the main geometrical influence factors, and to introduce the safety certification system that can test the procedures and procedures of the assembled temporary equipment and materials and based on it. It was found that there is a need. As a result of feasibility analysis on the necessity of introducing the safety certification system for assembled temporary equipment and materials through actual experiments, the existing single member performance evaluation has limitations in evaluating the structural performance of the assembled temporary equipment and materials. It was found that there is a need to introduce a safety certification system. As a result of gathering opinions on the feasibility of introducing the safety certification system for assembled temporary equipment and materials of manufacturers and users through the survey, it was found that the overall positive response result was high and the effectiveness was high.

Objective : The aim of this study was to identify the effect of visual feedback on balance and ADL in patient with cerebellar ataxia. Method : Between May of 2013, visual feedback applied to cerebellar ataxia patient. The visual feedback applied five times a week for two weeks to patient who are inpatients of Dae-jeon. To assess changes in balance, we performed the LOS, Romberg, BBS, We also assessed ADL using Canadian occupational performance measure(COPM). Result : For the patient of cerebellum ataxia, we can confirm the limitation of stability, and after the intervention, we can check out the changes which are maintained at Romberg test and Berg Balance Scale. In terms of daily activities, such as taking bath, moving to somewhere, using transportation, doing the laundry, and meeting activity, the level of performance and satisfaction has increased in all five fields. Conclusion : After the visual biofeedback training, patients with cerebellar Ataxia showed more increase in balance and ADL.

Objectives: Flow rate stability is very important for obtaining reliable measurements. However there is no easily used method for checking whether the flow rate set at the initial stage is sustained during sampling. The purpose of this study was to develop a method to evaluate the flow rate performance of gas sampling pumps with adsorbents commonly used to sample gases. Materials and methods: We tested the back pressure of gas sampling pumps commonly used in Korea with adsorbents such as charcoal and silica tubes and attempted to discover the combination conditions of adsorbents in accordance with back pressure required by ISO standard 13137. Results: We found the combination of sampling adsorbents to be applicable to the pressure drop required by the ISO standard for evaluating flow rate stability under increasing pressure drop and long term (eight-hour) performance. Conclusions: This evaluation method of using a sampling media matrix for checking flow rate stability as proposed by this study could be a highly useful tool for determining the reliability of the performance pumps before sampling.
This study was designed to identify the performance of occupational health services of 37 industries located in Kyung in area. The data was collected by a structured questionnaire developed by the Academic society of Community Nursing. This analysis had two factors, one was related to six of the industries, and the other was the actual assignment procedures of the health team members. This study was undertaken from December 4, 1992 to January 21, 1993. The results of the study were as follows: 1. The study group was primarily manufacturing industries which employed 300-1,000 employees. 2. The actual assignment state of occupation health team members with the exception of nurses was not kept to the regulations of the industrial safety health law. 3. The following was the analysis of the performance of occupational health services with two factors: 1). The larger the size of the six industries, the more the performance of health education, health assessment, and health screening. 2) The actual. practice of occupational health team members working environmental measurement, was more frequently performed by a nurse other than health team members together. 4. 1) The subscription rate of the laborers for primary health screening was 94%, and of these 10% had the need of secondary health screening. As a results of the secondary health screening the degrees were 'A' 45%, 'C' 92%, 'R' 21%. Of these degrees 'C', 'R' 4% were follow up cases. 2) 43% of laborers needed special health screening and .of these the subscription rate was 99%. The main item of the special health screening was physical factors. After the special health screening 46% required .follow up, 30% required medical treatment, only reporting 18%, change work 8%, suspension from work place 2%.
