  • In this paper, a neural disturbance observer(NDO) is developed and its application to the control of a nonlinear system with the internal and/or external disturbances is presented. To construct the NDO, a parameter tuning method is proposed and shown to be useful in adjusting the parameters of the NDO. The tuning method employes the disturbance observation error to guarantee that the NDO monitors unknown disturbances. Each of the nodes of the hidden layer in the NDO network is a radial basis function(RBF). In addition, the relationships between the suggested NDO-based control and the conventional adaptive controls reported in the previous literatures are discussed. And it is shown in a rigorous manner that the disturbance observation error converges to a region of which size can be kept arbitrarily small. Finally, an example and some computer simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness and the applicability of the NDO.

  • The new era of multi-messenger astronomy (MMA) has arrived in 2017 with the detection of the binary neutron star merger in both gravitational wave (GW) and electromagnetic radiation (EM). Now, the new run of GW detectors are providing numerous GW events and the number GW events are expected to increase dramatically in future as the GW sensitivities improve. When the GW studies are combined with EM counterpart observations, a great synergy is expected in many areas of study such as the physical process following the compact object merger, the environment of such events (and galaxy evolution), and cosmology, Therefore, it has now become crucial to identify and characterize these GW events in optical/IR EM. In the past, we have been performing optical/NIR observation of GW events using a worldwide network of more than 10 telescopes, and are getting more actively involved in MMA of GW sources. In this talk, we will present our network of telescopes, the EM follow-up observation results of GW events including GW170817 and the O3 events in 2019, and the current issues in MMA. We will also give the future prospects of MMA, showing the forecast for the GW events and the outlook of EM MMA observations.

  • In this presentation, study of the energetic astronomical phenomena, active galactic nucleus (AGN) and gravitational wave (GW) source, with time-series observation will be reported. They emit large amounts of energy and play an important role in the history of the Universe. First, intra-night variability of AGNs is studied using Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet). Second topic is photometric reverberation mapping which is applied for 11 AGNs with medium-bands and Lee Sang Gak Telescope. Last, three gravitational wave events were followed-up by various optical telescopes. Each topic will be specifically addressed in the presentation.

  • We recently developed new offshore observation system using USN buoy, widely used to measure the directional properties of ocean wave, seawater temperature, UV light, longitude and latitude of the buoy using GPS module. This paper also documents the development and implementation of a buoy network for acquisition of data of base station with buoys. The major phases of the project include specification of the network, physical construction of network nodes, software development for control of nodes, and testing of network performance. We described some of the practical issues involved in designing, building and deploying a buoy network for oceanographic monitoring. The paper explains some of the design decisions and their consequences, and some of the lessons learned from a first lesson network trial at sea.

  • A method of applying a recurrent backpropagation network to identifying or modelling a dynamic system is proposed. After the recurrent backpropagation network having both the characteristicsof interpolative network and associative network is applied to XOR problem, a new model of recurrent backpropagation network is proposed and compared with the original recurrent backpropagation network by applying them to XOR problem. based on the observation thata function can be approximated with polynomials to arbitrary accuracy, the new model is developed so that it may generate higher-order terms in the internal states Moreover, it is shown that the new network is succesfully applied to recognizing noisy patterns of numbers.

  • This paper describes methodology verifying near-surface predictability of numerical weather prediction models against the surface synoptic weather station network (SYNOP) observation. As verification variables, temperature, wind, humidity-related variables, total cloud cover, and surface pressure are included in this tool. Quality controlled SYNOP observation through the pre-processing for data assimilation is used. To consider the difference of topographic height between observation and model grid points, vertical inter/extrapolation is applied for temperature, humidity, and surface pressure verification. This verification algorithm is applied for verifying medium-range forecasts by a global forecasting model developed by Korea Institute of Atmospheric Prediction Systems to measure the near-surface predictability of the model and to evaluate the capability of the developed verification tool. It is found that the verification of near-surface prediction against SYNOP observation shows consistency with verification of upper atmosphere against global radiosonde observation, suggesting reliability of those data and demonstrating importance of verification against in-situ measurement as well. Although verifying modeled total cloud cover with observation might have limitation due to the different definition between the model and observation, it is also capable to diagnose the relative bias of model predictability such as a regional reliability and diurnal evolution of the bias.

  • Mobile Ad Hoc Network is easy to be attacked because nodes are distributed not network based infrastructure. Intrusion detection system perceives the trust values of neighboring nodes and receives inspection on local security of nodes and observation ability. This study applied clustering mechanism to reduce overhead in intrusion detection. And, in order to measure the trust values, it associates the trust information cluster head received from member nodes with its own value and evaluates the trust of neighboring nodes. Secure data transmission is received by proposed concept because the trust of nodes on network is achieved accurately.

  • A counting rule that allows an element to be linked to more than one enumeration unit is called a multiplicity counting rule. Sample designs that use multiplicity counting rules are called network samples. Defining a network to be a set of observation units with a given linkage pattern, a network may be linked with more than one selection unit, and a single selection unit may be linked with more than one network. This paper considers allocation for multivariate stratified random sampling with multiplicity.

  • The seismological observation of Korea began in 1905, and has been run with continuous earthquake network of observation, expanding to the advanced country, but still has some problems in accuracy and speed for report. There are many problems to issue the early warning system for earthquakes and Tsunami in the East Sea because most events in the East Sea occur outside the seismic network. Therefore multi-waveform data conversion and composition from the surrounding countries such as Korea, Japan and Far East Russia are requested in order to more accurate determination of earthquake parameters. We used FESNET(Far East Seismic Network) technology to analyze 2004 May 29th Uljin Earthquake and 2005 March 20th Japanese Fukuoka Earthquake in this research, using the data of KMA, Japan stations and IRIS(4 station).
