  • Recently, image-based object detection has made great progress with the introduction of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Many trials such as Region-based CNN, Fast R-CNN, and Faster R-CNN, have been proposed for achieving better performance in object detection. YOLO has showed the best performance under consideration of both accuracy and computational complexity. However, these data-driven detection methods including YOLO have the fundamental problem is that they can not guarantee the good performance without a large number of training database. In this paper, we propose a data sampling method using CycleGAN to solve this problem, which can convert styles while retaining the characteristics of a given input image. We will generate the insufficient data samples for training more robust object detection without efforts of collecting more database. We make extensive experimental results using the day-time and night-time road images and we validate the proposed method can improve the object detection accuracy of the night-time without training night-time object databases, because we converts the day-time training images into the synthesized night-time images and we train the detection model with the real day-time images and the synthesized night-time images.

  • Object detection techniques are increasingly used to obtain information on physical characteristics or situations of a specific area from remote images. The accuracy of object detection is decreased in remote sensing images with low resolution because the low resolution reduces the amount of detail that can be captured in an image. A single neural network is proposed to joint the super-resolution method and object detection method. The proposed method constructs a deep residual-based network to restore object features in low-resolution images. Moreover, the proposed method is used to improve the performance of object detection by jointing a single network with YOLOv5. The proposed method is experimentally tested using VEDAI data for low-resolution images. The results show that vehicle detection performance improved by 81.38% on mAP@0.5 for VISIBLE data.

  • In the post-COVID era, the importance of quarantine measures is greatly emphasized, and accordingly, research related to the detection of mask wearing conditions and prevention of other infectious diseases using deep learning is being conducted. However, research on the detection and tracking of visitors to cultural facilities to prevent the spread of diseases is equally important, so research on this should be conducted. In this paper, a convolutional neural network-based object detection model is trained through transfer learning using a pre-collected dataset. The weights of the trained detection model are then applied to a multi-object tracking model to monitor visitors. The visitor detection model demonstrates results with a precision of 96.3%, recall of 85.2%, and an F1-score of 90.4%. Quantitative results of the tracking model include a MOTA (Multiple Object Tracking Accuracy) of 65.6%, IDF1 (ID F1 Score) of 68.3%, and HOTA (Higher Order Tracking Accuracy) of 57.2%. Furthermore, a qualitative comparison with other multi-object tracking models showcased superior results for the model proposed in this paper. The research of this paper can be applied to the hygiene systems within cultural facilities in the post-COVID era.

  • Moving object detection is a fundamental technique in visual surveillance. Robust technique to enhance performance of moving object detection is required for several bad conditions in real external circumtance. In case of sudden illumination change in outdoor condition, many objects are determined as moving object though they are not really moving, but just their illumination changes. This makes the detection result untrustworthy. In this paper, robust moving object detection to sudden illumination change using gaussian mixture background model and new texture information using background from the weighted sum of recent images is proposed.

  • It is used to differential image for moving object detection in general. But it is difficult to detect the accurate detection which uses differential image between frames. In this paper, the proposed method overcome the noise that is generated by camera, grabber card, or weather condition. It extract to moving big object such as human or vehicle. The proposed method process morphological filtering and binary for the image with noise, reduce error. We are expect to apply to a real-time moving object detection system at fog condition, pass the limit of the object detection method using the differential image.

  • This paper proposes the on-road object detection and classification algorithm by using a detection system consisting of only laser scanners. Each sensor data acquired by the laser scanner is fused with a grid map and the measurement error and spot spaces are corrected using a labeling method and dilation operation. Fuzzy method which uses the object information (length, width) as input parameters can classify the objects such as a pedestrian, bicycle and vehicle. In this way, the accuracy of the detection system is increased. Through experiments for some scenarios in the real road environment, the performance of the proposed detection and classification system for the actual objects is demonstrated through the comparison with the actual information acquired by GPS-RTK.

  • This paper introduces the design of detection, recognition, and tracking algorithms for VTS radar image-based objects. The detection of objects in radar images utilizes artificial intelligence technology to determine the presence or absence of objects, and can classify the type of object using AI technology. Tracking involves the continuous tracking of detected objects over time, including technology to prevent confusion in the movement path. In particular, for land-based radar, there are unnecessary areas for detection depending on the terrain, so the function of detecting and recognizing vessels within the region of interest (ROI) set in the radar image is included. In addition, the extracted coordinate information is designed to enable various applications and interpretations by calculating speed, direction, etc.

  • Recently, with the growing interest in the field of autonomous driving, many researchers have been focusing on developing autonomous driving software platforms. In particular, we have concentrated on developing 3D object detection models that can improve real-time performance. In this paper, we introduce a self-constructed 3D LiDAR dataset specific to domestic environments and propose a VariFocal-based CenterPoint for the 3D object detection model, with improved performance over the previous models. Furthermore, we present experimental results comparing the performance of the 3D object detection modules using our self-built and public dataset. As the results show, our model, which was trained on a large amount of self-constructed dataset, successfully solves the issue of failing to detect large vehicles and small objects such as motorcycles and pedestrians, which the previous models had difficulty detecting. Consequently, the proposed model shows a performance improvement of about 1.0 mAP over the previous model.

  • Ensuring robust 3D object detection is a core challenge for autonomous driving systems operating in urban environments. To tackle this issue, various 3D representation, including point cloud, voxels, and pillars, have been widely adopted, making use of LiDAR, Camera, and Radar sensors. These representations improved 3D object detection performance, but real-world urban scenarios with unexpected situations can still lead to numerous false positives, posing a challenge for robust 3D models. This paper presents a post-processing algorithm that dynamically adjusts object detection thresholds based on the distance from the ego-vehicle. While conventional perception algorithms typically employ a single threshold in post-processing, 3D models perform well in detecting nearby objects but may exhibit suboptimal performance for distant ones. The proposed algorithm tackles this issue by employing adaptive thresholds based on the distance from the ego-vehicle, minimizing false negatives and reducing false positives in the 3D model. The results show performance enhancements in the 3D model across a range of scenarios, encompassing not only typical urban road conditions but also scenarios involving adverse weather conditions.
