  • Second order necessary optimality condition for properly efficient solutions of a twice differentiable vector optimization problem is given. We obtain a nonsmooth version of the second order necessary optimality condition for properly efficient solutions of a nondifferentiable vector optimization problem. Furthermore, we prove a second order necessary optimality condition for weakly efficient solutions of a nondifferentiable vector optimization problem.

  • In this paper, an algorithm for stacking sequence optimization which deals with discrete ply angles is used for optimization of composite laminated plates. To handle discrete ply angles, the branch and bound method is modified. Numerical results show that the optimal stacking sequence is found with fewer evaluations of objective function than expected with the size of feasible region, which shows the algorithm can be effectively used for layup optimization of composite laminates..

  • In this paper, we introduce a new artificial material model for topology optimization. The present material model, named S-shape material model, accelerates topology optimization process especially in mathematical programming. We overcome the instability and the flatness in heuristic optimization process. Numerical examples show the superiority of the proposed material.

  • The topology optimization for the magnet design is studied. The magnet design in the C-core actuator is investigated by using the derived topology optimization algorithm and finite element method. The design sensitivity equation for the topology optimization is derived using the adjoint variable method and the continuum approach.

  • In this paper, multiphase optimization of machine structure is presented. The goal of first step is to obtain (i) light weight, (ii) rigidity statically. In this step, multiple optimization problem with two objective functions is treated using Pareto Genetic Algorithm. Where two objective functions are weight of the structure, and static compliance. The method is applied to a new machine structure design.

  • A large number of methods for the design optimization have been proposed in recent years. However, it is not easy to apply these methods to practical use because of many iterations. So, in the design optimization, physical and engineering investigation of the given model are very important, which results in an overall increase in the optimization speed. This paper describes a novel optimization procedure utilizing the conformal transformation method. This approach consists of two phases and has the advantage of grasping the physical phenomena of the model easily. Some numerical results that demonstrate the validity of the proposed method are also presented.

  • Optimization problems may be devided into geometry optimization problems and topology optimization problems. In this paper, a method using tile equivalent material properties prediction techniques of a particulate-reinforced composites is proposed for the topology optimization. This method makes use of penalty factor in order that regions with intermediate value of design variables can be penalized. The computational results being obtained from PLBA algorithm of some values of penalty factor are presented.

  • This paper presents a sophisticated Sequential Linear Approximation Method(SLAM) to solve nonlinear optimization problem and the performance of this method is compared with those of the Penalty Function Method(SUMT), Tangent Search Method(TSM) and Flexible Tolerance Method(FTM). To improve the convenience and flexibility in using the proposed SLAM, an user oriented design optimization language is developed and the application examples are shown for the optimization of propeller principal dimensions and the optimization of bulk carrier principal particulars.

  • Artificial immune systems (AIS) are one of natural computing inspired by the natural immune system. The fault detection, the pattern recognition, the system control and the optimization are major application area of artificial immune systems. This paper gives a concept of artificial immune systems and useful techniques as like the clonal selection, the immune network theory and the negative selection. A concise survey on the optimization problem based on artificial immune systems is generated. The overall performance of artificial immune systems for the optimization problem is discussed.

  • Recently, research using artificial neural networks has further expanded the field of neural network optimization and automatic structuring from improving inference accuracy. The performance of the machine learning algorithm depends on how the hyperparameters are configured. Open-source hyperparameter optimization software can be an important step forward in improving the performance of machine learning algorithms. In this paper, we review open-source hyperparameter optimization softwares.
