Analysis of changes and trends in the use of sedatives in dental sedation using data from the National Health Insurance in Korea

  • Background: Although dental sedation helps control anxiety and pain, side effects and serious complications related to sedation are gradually increasing. Due to the introduction of new drugs and sedation methods, insurance rates, legal regulations, drugs, and methods used for dental sedation are inevitably changed. In the Republic of Korea, National Health Insurance is applied to all citizens, and this study investigated changes in the use of sedatives using this big data. Methods: This study used customized health information data provided by the Healthcare Insurance Review & Assessment Service of Korea. Among patients with a record of use of at least one of eight types of sedatives for dental sedation between January 2007 and September 2019 were selected; the data of their overall insurance claims for dental treatment were then analyzed. Results: The number of patients who received dental sedation was 786,003, and the number of dental sedation cases was 1,649,688. Inhalational sedation using nitrous oxide (N2O) accounted for 86.8% of all sedatives that could be claimed for drugs and treatment. In particular, it was confirmed that the number of requests for sedation using N2O sharply increased each year. Midazolam showed an increasing trend, and in the case of chloral hydrate, it gradually decreased. Conclusion: According to our analysis, the use of N2O and midazolam gradually increased, while the use of chloral hydrate gradually decreased.

토성(土性) 및 시비조건(施肥條件)이 황금(黃芩)의 생육(生育), 수량(收量) 및 품질(品質)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of Soil Textures and Fertilizer Application Conditions on the Growth, Yield and Quality of Scutellaria baicalensis G.)

  • 남부지방의 황금재배시 토성 및 시비조건에 따른 증수효과(增收效果)를 구명하고자 여천(麗川) 재래종(在來種)을 공시(供試)하여 재식거리를 $40{\times}10cm$로 콘크리트 pot에 토성별 시비조건을 달리하여 4월(月) 1일(日)에 점파하였고 시험을 수행한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 공시토양의 화학성을 보면 유기물, 유효인산(有效燐酸), 칼리함량은 식양토, 양토, 사양토 순으로 증가되는 경향을 보였고 토양의 물리성은 사양토에서 고상(固相)비율, 식양토에서 공극율이 가장 높았으며 퇴비의 전질소(全窒素) 및 칼리함량이 각각 2.25, 1.59%였고 C/N율은 21.4로 분해가 용역(容易)하였다. 2. 입모률(立毛率)은 퇴비시용구가 $86{\sim}88%$로 높았고 토성 및 시비조건의 생육(生育)은 양토 및 퇴비시용이 경장 및 경태가 각각 $44{\sim}47\;cm$, $7.50{\sim}8.17\;mm$로 가장 길고 굵어져 주당 분지수 및 건경엽중이 각각 $16.6{\sim}18.5$개, $22.1{\sim}26.0\;g$정도로 증가되었다. 3. 지하부 생육을 보면 식양토와 무비구에 비해 양토 및 퇴비 시용구가 주근장 및 주근경은 각각 $2.2{\sim}3.0\;cm$, $1.09{\sim}1.81\;mm$ 정도로 길고 굵어져 상근중 비율도 $2{\sim}6%$ 높아졌으며 주당 건근중이 $2.3{\sim}3.2\;g$으로 무거워 생장량이 증대되었다. 4, 근(根)의 baicalin, baicalein, wogonin 함량은 토성 간에는 식양토가 각각(各各) 9.03%, 2.72%, 1.62% 높은 함량으로 나타났고 시비조건은 무비구(無肥區)(7.13%, 1.35%, 0.49%)에 비해 퇴비 시용구에서 각각 2.80%, 2.45%, 1.91% 높은 함량을 보였다. 5. 토성 및 시비조건에 따른 상관관계는 경장, 주당 분지수, 주근장, 건근중 등의 지참, 지하부생육과 근의 전질소, 가리간에는 정(正)의 상관을 보였고 근의 baicalin, baicalein, wogonin 등의 총 유효성분함량과는 유의적(有意的)인 부(負)의 상관이 인정되었다.

피음 수준에 따른 굴거리나무의 용기 내 생장 및 생리적 반응 (Growth and Physiological Response in Container of Daphniphyllum macropodum by Shading Level)

  • 본 연구는 내음성이 있는 수종으로 알려진 난대 상록활엽수인 굴거리나무 용기묘를 대상으로, 피음 수준에 따른 생장과 생리적 반응을 알아보고자 실시되었다. 피음은 전광과 전광의 35%, 55%, 75% 수준으로 조절하여 처리하였다. 피음 수준에 따른 1년생 용기묘의 간장과 근원경 생장 조사 결과, 간장은 35% 피음에서 13.2 cm로 가장 컸으며, 근원경은 전광에서 4.99 mm로 가장 굵었다. 잎, 줄기, 뿌리 및 전체 건물생산량은 모두 35% 피음에서 각각 1.38 g, 0.47 g, 0.87 g, 2.72 g으로 높았다. 엽록소 a, b 및 총 엽록소 함량은 상대적으로 피음 수준이 가장 높은 75% 피음에서 가장 높았으며, 엽록소 a/b율은 35% 피음에서 가장 높게 조사되었다. 광합성 속도, 기공전도도 및 수분이용효율은 35% 피음에서 각각 $12.3{\mu}molCO_2{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$, $0.27molH_2O{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$, $3.53{\mu}molCO_2{\cdot}mmol^{-1}H_2O$로 가장 높았다. 이러한 결과를 종합하면, 내음성이 있는 굴거리나무는 35% 피음 수준이 생육에 적정한 것으로 판단된다.

포괄 치위생처치에 따른 구강환경지수변화 연구 (A Study on the Oral Hygien Index Change according to Comprehensive Dental Hygiene Care Treatment)

  • This study is Dental Hygiene Department of G University for comprehensive dental hygiene control and treatment weekly for four weeks from September 16 to October 20, 2010, excluding those who visited for ambulatory treatment of systemic diseases. For the 90 subjects, we performed oral examination, measured Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (S-OHI), Modified Patient Hygiene Performance (PHP-M), and O' Leary Index, and applied comprehensive dental hygiene control. First, as to the change of OHI according to age, the index in the 1st measurement was 3.43 in those under 35 and 3.17 in those aged 35 or older, so it was higher in the younger group, but in the 2nd measurement it was 1.89 in those under 35 and 2.14 in those aged 35 or older, and in the 3rd measurement it was 1.22 in those aged 35 or older, so it was higher in the older group. Second, as to the change of PHP-M according to age, the index in the 1st measurement was 50.35 in those under 35 and 43.16 in those aged 35 or older, soit was higher in the younger group, but in the 2nd measurement it was 31.97 in those under 35 and 28.88 in those aged 35 or older, and in the 3rd measurement it was 21.31 in those aged 35 or older, so it was higher in the older group.

뉴욕 음식전문가들의 한식에 대한 인식과 태도 - 푸디스를 대상으로 한 심층인터뷰 - (The Perception and Attitude of Food Experts in New York city toward Korean Food - Assessed by In-depth Interviews of "Foodies"-)

  • The purpose of this research was to reveal how Korean food is currently perceived by the "foodies" of New York City and to determine what social status Korean food has in the city that is deemed the "Restaurant Capital of the World." In-depth personal interviews were performed to provide a deeper insight into the comments and subject matters. Most foodies selected kimchi and Korean barbecue as the most distinctive foods in Korean dining. Korean food's distinguishing traits were extracted in four areas: specific ingredients and tools, preparation procedures, and rules. Sensory characteristics, local adaptation, service, side dishes, and the main strengths and short-comings of Korean foods were investigated. Perception toward the taste of Korean food was generally positive, but poor quality of service and lack of organization in establishments were found to be negative factors.

Bacillus clausii I-52의 Chromosomal Integration에 의한 Alkaline Protease의 생산성 향상 (Increased Production of an Alkaline Protease from Bacillus clausii I-52 by Chromosomal Integration)

  • 인천 연안 갯벌에서 분리한 호알카리성 Bacillus clausii I-52로부터 세포외 알카리성 단백질 분해효소(BCAP)의 발현 및 생산성을 증가시키기 위하여 BCAP promoter, ribosome 결합 서열, 신호서열, 전구체 서열 및 활성형 BCAP 유전자를 cloning한 재조합 plasmid pHPS9-fuBCAP을 penicillin-protoplast 법으로 B. clausii I-52의 염색체 DNA에 integration 하였고, 도입된 plasmid pHPS9-fuBCAP 유전자는 PCR에 의해 확인하였다. 가장 높은 단백질 분해효소 상대 활성을 보이는 선별된 transformant C5를 생산 최적화 배지(대두박 2%, 밀가루 1%, 구연산나트륨 0.5%, $K_2HPO_4$ 0.4%, $Na_2HPO_4$ 0.1%, NaCl 0.4%, $MgSO_47H_2O$ 0.01%, $FeSO_47H_2O$ 0.05%, 물엿 2.5%, 탄산나트륨 0.6%)에서 액침 배양법(배양온도, $37^{\circ}C$; 배양 시간, 48 h; 교반 속도, 650 rpm; 통기 속도, 1 vvm)으로 배양하여 단백질 분해효소를 발현 및 분비시켰을 때, BCAP 발현 양(134,670 U/ml)은 wild-type(83,960 U/ml)에 비하여 약 1.6 배 증가하였으며, 비활성도(91,611.5 U/mg 단백질)는 wild-type(71,760 U/mg 단백질)에 비하여 약 1.3 배 증가하였다. 또한, B. clausii I-52 염색체 DNA에 integration된 pHPS9-fuBCAP plasmid는 단백질 발현과 함께 8일간의 계대배양 동안에 안정하게 유지되고 있음을 확인하였다.

휴대폰 무선서비스 MP3 사운드의 감성만족도 평가 (Sensibility Satisfaction Evaluation of MP3 Sound on Mobile Phone)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 통신사간에 무선인터넷으로 제공되는 휴대폰 MP3 사운드의 음질차이가 있는지, 있다면 어느 요소에서 발생하는지를 조사하는 것이었다. 선두 통신사나 휴대폰 제조사가 가지는 브랜드의 영향 요소를 배재하고, 음질의 차이가 생기는 요소들을 찾아내기 위한 일련의 실험이 계획되었다. 특정 장르, 제작자, PC용 MP3플레이어, 휴대폰 제조사 등 음질의 차이가 발생 할 수 있는 요소들을 테스트 하였다. 연구결과 휴대폰 무선 인터넷을 통해 이용하는 MP3 사운드는 통신사별로 음질 차이가 존재하는 것으로 파악되었다. 음질의 차이는 콘텐츠 및 휴대폰의 차이에서 발생하며, 동일휴대폰 모델의 경우에도 통신사 모델별로 음질의 차이가 발생하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 통신사별로 제공하는 PC용 MP3 플레이어도 음질의 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 음악 장르에 대한 음질의 차이는 일관되게 나타나지 않았다.

Amino Acid, Amino Acid Metabolite, and GABA Content of Three Domestic Tomato Varieties

  • To determine the nutritional value of domestic tomatoes, the levels of amino acids, amino acid metabolites, and the bioactive compound ${\gamma}-aminobutyric-acid$ (GABA) were analyzed in three domestic tomato varieties (Rafito, Momotaro, and Medison). Eighteen free amino acids were found, and total free amino acid content was 3,810.21~4,594.56 mg/100 g (dry weight). L-glutamic acid (L-Glu) was the most abundant amino acid, ranging from 1,866.60 mg/100 g for Momotaro to 2,417.45 mg/100 g for Medison. The next most abundant amino acids were L-glutamine (L-Gln) and L-aspartic acid (L-Asp). The three tomato varieties had a good balance of all the essential amino acids except tryptophan. Total essential amino acid content was 274.26~472.71 mg/100 g (dry weight). The following amino acid metabolites were found: L-carnitine (L-Car), hydroxylysine (Hyl), o-phosphoethanolamine (o-Pea), phosphoserine (p-Ser), ${\beta}-alanine$ (${\beta}-Ala$), N-methyl-histidine (Me-His), ethanolamine (EtNH2),and L-citrulline(L-Cit). Large quantities of GABA were found in all three varieties: 666.95-868.48 mg/100g (dry weight). These results support the use of these tomato varieties as nutritious food materials.

On-off controllable RNA hybrid expression vector for yeast three-hybrid system

  • The yeast three-hybrid system (Y3H), a powerful method for identifying RNA-binding proteins, still suffers from many false positives, due mostly to RNA-independent interactions. In this study, we attempted to efficiently identify false positives by introducing a tetracycline operator (tetO) motif into the RPR1 promoter of an RNA hybrid expression vector. We successfully developed a tight tetracycline-regulatable RPR1 promoter variant containing a single tetO motif between the transcription start site and the A-box sequence of the RPR1 promoter. Expression from this tetracycline-regulatable RPR1 promoter in the presence of tetracycline-response transcription activator (tTA) was positively controlled by doxycycline (Dox), a derivative of tetracycline. This on-off control runs opposite to the general knowledge that Dox negatively regulates tTA. This positively controlled RPR1 promoter system can therefore efficiently eliminate RNA-independent false positives commonly observed in the Y3H system by directly monitoring RNA hybrid expression.

직류전동차 탑재용 피뢰기의 최적선정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Selection of Lightning Arresters for DC Electric Traction Vehicles)

  • In this paper, we proposed a selection and application recommendations of ZnO arresters for DC electric traction vehicles. To decide the Continuous Operating Voltage($U_C$), the Rated Voltage($U_r$), and the Nominal Discharge Current(In), we measured and analyzed system voltages and surge currents flowing the arrester installed on a DC electric traction vehicle under running state. System voltages measured up to 1,800 V in 1,500 V-system, and surge currents were recorded up to 3 times per a running-service-route and their magnitudes were ranges of $150A{\sim}2kA$. From these results and a standard EN50163, we could proposed $U_C$, $U_r$, and In available for the 1,500 VDC electric traction vehicles.
