  • Single crystals of sapphire were grown from solution by slow cooling method using B2O3 and PbO as flux agents. The morphology of grown crystals was tube, rhombohedral, or hexagonal-plate. It was found that the morphology and the size of grown crystal were highly dependent on the amount of fluxes in the solution, the ratio of B2O3 vs. PbO, and cooling rate.

Influence of $Al_2O_3$ Particle Size on the Fracture Toughness of Alumina-dispersed 2Y-TZP Ceramics (알루미나 분산 2Y-TZP 세라믹스에서 알루미나 입자크기가 파괴인성에 미치는 영향)

  • 20vol% Al2O3-dispersed 2Y-TZP ceramics was prepared by mixing of 2Y-TZP and Al2O3 powder with different particle sizes, and investigated the influence of Al2O3 particle size and sintering condition on the microstructure and fracture toughness. Sintering conditions of the Al2O3-dispersed 2Y-TZP specimens showed high density at sintering condition of 1350℃ and 1500℃ for 1∼5h, and homogeneous microstructure. The grain size of tetragonal zirconia and the fracture toughness increased with the size of dispersed Al2O3 particle. The highest fracture toughness (∼17.2MPa·m1/2) of all specimens was obtained in the specimens with dispersed Al2O3 particle size of 1.0㎛ and sintered at 1500℃ for 2h.

Characteristics of Composting of Cow Manure With Kimchi Factory Waste and Effects on Growth of Lettuce by Its Application (김치공장 부산물 혼합처리에 따른 우분의 퇴비화특성 및 시비효과)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate effects of Kimchi factory waste (KFW) as bulking agent on physicochemical properties of cow manure (CM) composting and of its application on lettuce growth. Treatments were designed as follows; CM compost [65 % CM + 35 % sawdust (SD); control], KFW 5 % (65 % CM + 30 % SD + 5 % KFW), KFW 10 % (65 % CM + 25 % SD + 10 % KFW) and KFW 15 % (65 % CM + 20 % SD + 15 % KFW). After composting for 25 days, temperature of KFW treatments was lower than that of control. As compared with control, water content of KFW 15 % treatment was low about $5^{\circ}C$, and content of organic matter (O.M.) and nitrogen (N) was higher. pH and O.M./N ratio of KFW treatments or control were unaffected. In comparison with germination index (G.I.), G.I.s of KFW treatments were more than 70 on 25 days and G.I. of control on 35 days. As applied with KFW composts in lettuce, dry weight of KFW 10 % and KFW 15 % were increased by 84 % and 67 %, respectively, than that of control. These results indicated that Kimchi factory waste was possible to use as the compost law materials in livestock manure composting and to replace some sawdust as bulking agent.

  • The photocatalytic decolorization of Rhodamine B (RhB) was studied using immobilized $TiO_2$ and fluidized bed reactor. Immobilized $TiO_2$(length: 1$\~$2 mm, width: 1$\~$3 mm, thickness: 0.5$\~$2 mm) onto silicone sealant was employed as the photocatalyst and a 30 W germicidal lamp was used as the light source and the reactor volume was 4.8 L. The effects of parameters such as the amounts of photocatalyst, initial concentration, initial pH, superficial velocity, $H_2O_2$ and anion additives. ($NO_3^{-},\;SO_4^{2-},\;Cl^{-},\;CO_3^{2-}$) The results showed that the optimum dosage of the immobilized $TiO_2$ were 87.0 g/L. Initial removal rate of RhB of the immobilized $TiO_2$ was 1.5 times higher than that of the powder $TiO_2$ because of the adsorption onto the surface of immobilized $TiO_2$ In the conditions of acidic pH, initial reaction rate was increased slowly and reaction time was shorted. The effect of anion type on the reaction rate was not much.

Magnetic properties of Sr-ferrite by La-Co substitution (La-Co 치환량에 따른 스트론튬 페라이트의 자기특성)

  • This experiment was carried out to examine the effects of La-Co substitution on Sr-ferrite. The magnetic properties of calcined and sintered materials varied with the substitutional amount of La and Co elements in Sr-ferrite. Anisotropy field and coercivity for Sr ferrite were increased with raising La-Co substitution amounts. The microstructure observation for Sr ferrite substituted by La-Co revealed that La-Co inhabited grain growth during calcination and promoted lateral grain growth during sintering. The relationship between $B_{r}$ and $_{i}$ /$H_{c}$ for La-Co substituted Sr-ferrite was found to be $B_{r}$$≒0.097_{i}$ /$H_{c}$/+4500. In case of $SrFe_{12}$ $O_{19}$, $B_{r} was 4090 G and $_{ i}$$H_{c}$ was 3560 Oe, but $B_{r}$ was 4080 G and and $_{i}$ $H_{c}$ was 4800 Oe for $Sr_{0.7}$ $La_{0.3}$ $Fe_{11.7}$ /$Co_{0.3}$ $O_{19}$.

  • The influence of $O_2$-plasma treatment on $H_2$ post-treated BZO (ZnO:B) thin film using MOCVD (Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition) are investigated. An $O_2$-plasma treatment of the $H_2$ post-treated BZO thin films resulted in XRD peak of (100), (101) and (110). Also, electrical properties resulted in an increase in sheet resistance and work function. The weighted optical transmittance and haze at 300~1,100 nm of BZO thin films with $O_2$-plasma treatment on the $H_2$ post-treatment show approximately 86% and 15%, respectively.

The sealing Characteristics of sealing glasses and Mn-Zn single crystal ferrite (봉착용 유리와 Mn-Zn 단결정 Ferrite와의 봉착특성에 관한 연구)

  • In this study we have investigated the sealing characteristics of glasses suitable for producing the magnetic gap of the ferrite head cores which have been widely used for VTR and computer magnetic heads. $PbO-B_2O_3$ g1asses were evaluated by measuring microhardness, thermal expansion coefficient and sliding wear resistance. Concentration distribution of elements at the interface was observed by WDS. wettability was measured by high temperature microscopy. The results were as follows ; 1. In sealing glasses of $PbO-B_2O_3$ system, thermal expansion coefficient and wear volume were increased with increasing PbO content, and were decreased with increasing $B_2O_3$ content. 2. The contact angle of $PbO-B_2O_3$ Systems was mainly influenced by PbO content. 3. The sealing temperature showed a tendency to decrease proportionally with the increase of the coefficient of thermal expansion. 4. The diffusion at the interface between Mn-Zn single crystal ferrite and sealing glasses of $PbO-B_2O_3$ system was dominated by small amount of diffusion of ferrite content into glass part, which was very little affected by sealing heat treatment time.

High Frequency Properties of Patterned Fe-Al-O Thin Films

  • As a result of the recent miniaturization an enhancement in the performance of thin film inductors and thin film transformers, there are increased demands for the thin films with high magnetic permeability in the high frequency range, high saturation magnetization, in high electrical resistivity, and low coercive force. In order to improve high frequency properties, we will investigate anisotropy field by shape and size of pattern. The Fe-Al-O thin films of 16mm and 1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness were deposited on Si wafer, using RF magnetron reactive sputtering technique with the mixture of argon and oxygen gases. The fabricating conditions are obtained in the working partial pressure of 2mTorr, O$_2$ partial pressure of 5%, input power of 400W, and Al pellets on an Fe disk with purity of 99,9%. Magnetic properties of the continuous films as followed: the 4$\pi$M$\_$s/ of 19.4kG, H$\_$c/ of 0.6Oe, H$\_$k/ of 6.0Oe and effective permeability of 2500 up to 100㎒ were obtained. In this work, we expect to enhance effect of magnetic anisotropy on patterned of Fe-Al-O thin films.

  • In this study, 0.96B $i_{0.5}$($Na_{0.84}$ $K_{0.16}$)$_{0.5}$Ti $O_3$ + 0.04SrTi $O_3$ + 0.3 wt% N $b_2$ $O_{5}$+0.2 wt% L $a_2$ $O_3$ + xwt % Mn $O_2$ were investigated as a function of the amount of Mn $O_2$ addition in order to improve dielectric and piezoelectric properties of Lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. With increasing the amount of Mn $O_2$ addition, the density, electromechanical coupling factor( $k_{p}$), piezoelectric constant( $d_{33}$, $g_{33}$) and curie temperature (Tc) showed the maximum value of 5.7 g/㎤, 38 %, 219 pC/N, 26 mVㆍm/N and 32$0^{\circ}C$ at 0.1 wt% Mn $O_2$ addition, respectively, and mechanical quality factor( $Q_{m}$ ) showed the maximum value of 158 at 0.3 wt% Mn $O_2$ addition.ddition.ion.n.

  • Using the concept of a g-monotone mapping we prove some common fixed point theorems for g-non-decreasing mappings which satisfy some generalized nonlinear contractions in partially ordered complete quasi b-metric spaces. The new theorems are generalizations of very recent fixed point theorems due to L. Ciric, N. Cakic, M. Rojovic, and J. S. Ume, [Monotone generalized nonlinear contractions in partailly ordered metric spaces, Fixed Point Theory Appl. (2008), article, ID-131294] and R. P. Agarwal, M. A. El-Gebeily, and D. O'Regan [Generalized contractions in partially ordered metric spaces, Appl. Anal. 87 (2008), 1-8].
