Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify effects of emotional labor, job stress and personal resources on job satisfaction in home healthcare nurses. Methods: The subjects were 149 home healthcare nurses working for home healthcare centers at 61 hospitals. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire from November 22, 2010 to February 28, 2011 and analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, Hierarchical multiple linear regression analysis. Results: The mean score of emotional labor level was $4.23{\pm}0.95$, that of job stress level $3.39{\pm}0.57$, that of personal resources $3.38{\pm}0.36$, and that of job satisfaction $3.31{\pm}0.40$. There were positive correlations among emotional labor, job stress, personal resources and job satisfaction. After age, educational level, job position, and work period in home health care, and traffic accident were controlled, the variables, emotional labor (${\beta}$=-.198, p = .034) and personal resources (${\beta}$=.236, p = .005) turned out to account for 13.3% of the job satisfaction. But job stress was not a statistically significant predictor. Conclusion: Home healthcare nurses were needed to minimize emotional labor and revitalize personal resources in order to maintain a comparatively high level of job satisfaction. Furthermore, it is necessary to carry out systematic education and an organizational management scheme into practice.
Purpose: This study is descriptive research that provides basic data to develop customized emergency education programs for strengthening the emergency coping ability of caregivers suitable for facility and home care services. Method: This study included 210 facility and 169 home care workers in S and G regions. Data collection was conducted from February 1, 2019 to March 5, 2019. The data was analyzed using a t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Scheffe tests. Results: The emergency experience was higher in the facilities group, (90.5% in the facilities group and 70.4% in the home group), and there was a significant difference between the groups (t=25.03, p<.001). First aid knowledge was 10.41±2.81 in the facilities and 9.70±2.97 points in the home group, showing a difference between the groups (t=2.40, p=.017). The emergency coping ability was 60.57±4.76 points in the facility group and 57.53±4.18 points in the home group, which was higher in the facility group. There was a significant difference between the two groups (t=6.53, p<.001). The emergency education demand was 98.6% for the facilities group. Conclusion: These results highlight the need to develop and apply case-based emergency education suitable for the characteristics of the service and reflecting the educational needs of each type of service.
The main purpose of this study was to find out variables relevant to self-care activities of physically disabled person. The subjects of this analysis were 1277 person which is between 15~64 years, the data came from the 1985 National Interview Survey on Disabled Person in Korea. For this analysis, Breakdown, Oneway and Discriminant Analysis were used. The finding of the analysis can be summarized as follows: First, the mean of self care activities was 2.57 (SD: 0.69, range: 1-3). The relevance for the self-care activities by several variables is as follows. 1. The relevance for the self-care activities by socioeconomic status is significant at age, education level, occupation of household members variables. Especially, in the case of high age, low education level, the self-care activities are shown low score. 2. The relevance by impairment characteristics is shown high significance at all input variables. When disabled person have double impairment. paralysis, late occurance age, and is due to diseases the self-care activities score is lowered. 3. The relevance by health care services variables. is not shown significant at all input variables. Second, the relevance for social activities by sev-eral variables was conducted by discriminant analysis. The relative importance of social activities discriminant function is 0.344 of eigenvalue. The-canonical correlation between the social activities discriminant function and 9 dummy variables is 0.51, total variance of dummy variables for social activities is shown 26 persent. The self-care activities variable represents the highest contribution of its associated variable to the function (canonical coefficient: -.56). The occurance age, the occupation of household members, the education level variables are shown comparatively high contribution to the function. To sum up, this analysis suggests that the self-care activities variable is the highest contributed to the social activities. In relation to self-care concept, this finding will be useful in rehabilitation nursing care.

Background: After Genome project, cancer genetic information is being rapidly changing. Everyday nurses are incorporating current cancer genetic knowledge and genetic testing into their practice. So their cancer genetic knowledge is important for ensuring quality of cancer patient care and education. Purpose: This study is performed for describing the Korean nurses' current knowledge level about the hereditary breast cancer. Method: This national wide survey used 15-item questionnaire which is modified from the Breast Cancer Genetic Counseling Knowledge Questionnaire originally developed by Erblich et al.(2005). Three hundred and nine nurses were recruited for this survey from April 1, 2006 to September 30, 2006. Result: Nurses' knowledge level about the hereditary breast cancer was not high. Clinical nurses with master degree, working large hospital located in Seoul had higher knowledge about hereditary breast cancer. Education related to cancer genetics was significantly impact on the level of nurses' knowledge. Conclusion: Cancer genetic educational program for Korean nurses is strongly needed for delivering cancer care services sensitive to ever-changing cancer genetic information.
Purpose: The Purpose of the study was to suggest how the health manager use to be easy return-to-work of injured workers. Method: The data were collected by the health managers working at the 103 companies over medium size in Incheon, Gyoung-gi and Seoul through interview and report by themselves and analyzed by SAS V8 through t-test. Result: 1. The health managers are consisted of 2 kinds, one is health manager such as physician(10%) or nurse(81%) and the other is safety manager. The former works at the manufacturing company(62.9%), the latter at the service one(42.4%). 2. Management and counseling of occupational and non-occupational diseases, and high risk workers, health education, emergency care, worksite rounding, guidance of personal protector use, and health promotion services were highly performed by health managers. Comparing to these, safety managers performed guidance of job safety, safety management. The difference of two kinds of manager was significant statistically not only the aspect of general job but also related job to the workers of return-to-work after accident. Conclusion: This result shows that health manager can function as a care manager to the workers after return-to-work for adaptation to their job and rehabilitation bio-psycho-socially. But health managers don't have any regulations of encouraging injured workers to get their job again officially.
The aim of the study is to analyze and evaluate the Child Health Management Service that was promoted as a part of Mother-Child Health Guidance Project by the Public Health Center of BukCheju-gun in 1999, to reflect the problems needed to be improved, and, thus, to present the integral program model for the Child Health Management Service that guides childhood health, regarded as the foundation of that of the adulthood period, to the optimum level. The common results of the evaluation of the Child Health Management Service of BukCheju-gun public health center are as below: 1. In the aspect of public information, the existing simple material and method of public information was not effective. 2. The opportunities for the necessary training and education to develop the persons concerned and their ability for the Child Health Management were not enough.3. The environment under which the service, aimed to promote Child's health, was carried out was not clearly divided from that of the services related with the prevention and treatment of disease. And the service environment for the child health was threatening to the clients.4. Still, the actual result was pursued more than the quality management, while carrying out the project. With the reflection of the above result, the research has presented the program model of Child Health Management Program for the next. The main concept of the model is, through the establishment of the network for information offerings and effective convergence of a variety of opinions for the community around the Public Health Center and for the correct evaluation of the project and the reflection of the result from it, to achieve the ultimate goal of the optimal growth and development of the childhood by expanding the support necessary for carrying out Child Health Management Program more effectively.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of home care exercise program on knee joint function(WOMAC) and the quality of life in patient with total knee replacement arthroplasty. Method: Forty-one subjects were sampled according to research criteria, and divided into two groups : 21 out of experimental group and 20 out of control group. The patients having treatment of total knee replacement arthroplasty were out of the hospital. After surgery executed, it took 8days for them to recovere their health conditions since 10th day, the experimental group received the home care exercise program per regularly four days interval. Results: 1) After applying home care exercise program, the total score on the WOMAC Index for the control group was $3.09{\pm}.76$. The score of the experimental group was $3.55{\pm}.55$ which is statistically higher than that of the control group. (P=.007). 2) After applying home care exercise program, the score of the quality of life for the control group was $3.09{\pm}.50$. The score of the experimental group was $3.46{\pm}.35$ Which is statistically higher than that of the control group. (P=.007). Conclusion: This figures show that home care exercise program has good results. These findings also indicate that the services of home care exercise program are alternatives for the hospitalization.
Purpose: This study was a prospective survey to evaluate the Korean Triage and Acuity Scale (KTAS) inter-rater reliability and to identify discordant areas in the KTAS classification between nurses and paramedics in emergency department (ED). Methods: Inter-rater reliability were evaluated using triage deta from January 11 to May 31, 2019. A convinience sample of a total of 800 patients who visited an emergnecy medical center in Incheon (400 adult and 400 pediatric patients in this study) were selected. The triages of this study a pair of one nurse and one paramedic performed triage at the same time, using the KTAS, Inter-rater reliability for the KTAS was evaluated with the weighted kappa. Results: The inter-rater reliability of the KTAS evaluated by weighted Kappa between nurse-paramedic KTAS score of adult patients was .71, and .66 for pediatric patients. Both were in the level considered as substantial. Among causes of triage discordance, the most frequently identified discordant item in triaging adults was the difference in the measurement of pain intensity (28.0%). For both adult and pediatric patients, multiple chief complaint was identified as the major discordant factor. In triaging pediatric patients the body temperature assessment by subjective judgments was the highest discordant item (50.7%). Conclusion: The study result suggested that the KTAS demonstrated a reasonable level of inter-rater reliability and functioned as a standardized triage tool for emergency medical services. In order to improve the inter-rater reliability and classification competence, it is necessary to revise the current all-integrated KTAS provider course to be differentiated for each job group.
This study was conducted to identify the effect of laughter therapy on the moods, pain and stress of the patients in a hospice ward. Participants were divided as control (23 patients), and experimental group (26 patients). Laughter therapy was provided for 5 days, and 20-30 minutes per day. Data collected on the $3^{rd}$ and $8^{th}$ day, respectively, were analyzed using SPSS win 24.0 program, Chi-square test, fisher's exact test, Independent-test, and Mann-Whitney U test. Experimental groups showed the significant differences in Mood (t= -12.88, p<.001), Pain (t= -6.38, p<.001) and Stress (z= -6.03, p<.001). Conclusion: Laughter therapy was an effective nursing intervention to relieve the negative mood condition, pain and stress on patients, as one of the daily nursing services in the hospice ward.
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the health education conducted for adolescents in the past 10 years by 5-year cycles. Methods: This study was conducted, targeting 200,008 students attending junior high school and high school, using the data of the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey in 2005, 2010 and 2015. The collected data was analyzed by Rao-Scott $x^2$ test, using SPSS program. Results: The overall implementation of health education has increased over the past decade, showing statistically significant differences between 2005, 2010 and 2015 (p<.05). The type of health education given the most was sex education (68.9~74.5%) in 2005 and 2010 and safety education (83.8%) in 2015, whereas the least given health education was personal hygiene education (18.2%) in 2005 and oral health education (22.0~24.0%) in 2010 and 2015. In addition, the implementation rate of health education was statistically significantly lower in high school than in middle school in all three years, 2005, 2010 and 2015. As the grades got higher, the implementation rate of health education showed a statistically significant decrease (p<.05). Conclusion: Health education for adolescents needs to be provided equally. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare an education policy for students to benefit from adequate health.
