Data collection was undertaken from July 6th to 20th, 2017, through questionnaire responses from 257 nurses. Descriptive statistics were employed for data analysis, including: independent t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 22.0. Results: Nurses' work environment, resilience, and intention to remain were found to have a statistically significant correlation. Intention to remain showed statistically significant positive correlations with the nurse's work environment (r=.72, p<.001), resilience (r=.50, p<.001). Factors found to influence intention to remain were work environment, resilience, job satisfaction, and health status. Conclusion: The study findings support the development of a specialized program to strengthen nurses' intention to remain. • Purpose: A significant amount of public opinion about nurse bullying is expressed on the internet. The purpose of this study was to analyze the linkage structures among words extracted from comments on internet articles related to nurse workplace bullying using semantic network analysis. Methods: From February 2018 to April 2019, comments made on news articles posted to the Daum and Naver web portal containing keywords such as "nurse", "Taeum", and "bullying" were collected using a web crawler written in Python. A morphological analysis performed with Open Korean Text in KoNLPy generated 54 major nodes. The frequencies, eigenvector centralities, and betweenness centralities of the 54 nodes were calculated and semantic networks were visualized using the UCINET and NetDraw programs. Convergence of iterated correlations (CONCOR) analysis was performed to identify structural equivalence. Results: This paper presents results about March 2018 and January 2019 because these months had highest number of articles. Of the 54 major nodes, "nurse", "hospital", "patient", and "physician" were the most frequent and had the highest eigenvector and betweenness centralities. The CONCOR analysis identified work environment, nurse, gender, and military clusters. Conclusion: This study structurally explored public opinion about nurse bullying through semantic network analysis. It is suggested that various studies on nursing phenomena will be conducted using social network analysis.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a valid tool for measuring the work environment of Korean nurses and test the validity and reliability of the instrument. Methods: This is a methodological study for developing and testing a measurement tool. The conceptual framework for the tool was formed through a literature review and in-depth interviews with clinical nurses. 260 meaningful statements were derived through this process, and 59 of the primary items were generated out of these statements. On the basis of the content validity test, 41 items were selected for the preliminary tool. A total of 350 nurses from 7 hospitals responded to the preliminary questionnaire in October 2011. Results: After the item analysis and the principal component analysis using varimax rotation methods, 11 items were deleted. Considering the conceptual framework and the scree plot, we extracted 4 factors from the final 30 items. These factors were organizational support, head nurse's leadership, support system, and relationship with coworkers, and their total variance was 54.4%. The value of Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of the final tool was 0.92. Conclusion: The above findings revealed that the Korean Nursing Work Environment Scale (K-NWES) is an appropriate, valid, and reliable tool for evaluating the work environment of Korean nurses. Further research to perform a criterion validity test of the K-NWES is needed.
