  • We consider the comparison of two one-parameter exponential distributions with the complete data as well as the type II censored data. We adapt Bayesian test procedure for nested hypothesis based on the Bayesian reference criterion. Specifically we derive the expression for the Bayesian reference criterion to solve our problem. Also we provide numerical examples using simulated data sets to illustrate our results.

  • Mathematical model can be obtained by physical law or engineering theory. However it is always incomplete expression of the real system. In active controls to suppress vibration due to earthquake or wind load, modeling errors can often cause the problems of instability and performance degradation. In this paper, robust optimal controller design method using H$\infty$ control theory is developed for the systems which have uncertain natural frequency and design constraints. Numerical results show that the proposed H$\infty$ controller can avoid the performance degradation due to several errors and has better performance than conventional LQR method.

  • We propose principal differential analysis based classification methods. Computations of squared multiple correlation function (RSQ) and principal differential analysis (PDA) scores are reviewed; in addition, we combine principal differential analysis results with the logistic regression for binary classification. In the numerical study, we compare the principal differential analysis based classification methods with functional principal component analysis based classification. Various scenarios are considered in a simulation study, and principal differential analysis based classification methods classify the functional data well. Gene expression data is considered for real data analysis. We observe that the PDA score based method also performs well.

  • The model of two-dimensional plane waves is analyzed in a micropolar-thermoelastic solid with microtemperatures in the context of the three-phase-lag model, dual-phase-lag model, and the Green-Naghdi theory of type III. Harmonic wave analysis is used to hold the solution to the problem. Numerical results of the physical fields are visualized to show the effects of the gravity field, magnetic field, and viscosity. The expression for the field variables is obtained generally and represented graphically for a particular medium.

  • Accurately predicting cancer prognosis to provide appropriate treatment strategies for patients is one of the critical challenges in bioinformatics. Many researches have suggested machine learning models to predict patients' outcomes based on their gene expression data. Gene expression data is high-dimensional numerical data containing about 17,000 genes, so traditional researches used feature selection or dimensionality reduction approaches to elevate the performance of prognostic prediction models. These approaches, however, have an issue of making it difficult for the predictive models to grasp any biological interaction between the selected genes because feature selection and model training stages are performed independently. In this paper, we propose a novel two-dimensional image formatting approach for gene expression data to achieve feature selection and prognostic prediction effectively. Node2Vec is exploited to integrate biological interaction network and gene expression data and a convolutional neural network learns the integrated two-dimensional gene expression image data and predicts cancer prognosis. We evaluated our proposed model through double cross-validation and confirmed superior prognostic prediction accuracy to traditional machine learning models based on raw gene expression data. As our proposed approach is able to improve prediction models without loss of information caused by feature selection steps, we expect this will contribute to development of personalized medicine.

  • I/Q phase unbalance caused by non-ideal circuit components is inevitable physical phenomenons and leads to performance degradation when we implement a practical coherent M-ary phase shift keying(M-PSK) demodulator. In this paper, we present an exact and general expression involving two-dimensional Gaussian Q-functions for the bit error rate(BER) of uniform M-PSK with I/Q phase unbalance over an additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) channel. First we derive a BER expression for the k-th bit of 8, 16-PSK signal constellations when Gray code bit mapping is employed. Then, from the derived k-th bit BER expression, we present the exact and general average BER expression for M-PSK with I/Q phase unbalance. This result can readily be applied to numerical evaluation for various cases of practical interest in an I/Q unbalanced M-PSK system, because the one- and two-dimensional Gaussian Q-functions can be easily and directly computed using commonly available mathematical software tools.

  • This study aims to reveal how EA affects BAX and NF-kB involved in cell deaths from global ischemia, and to do this, observes the changes of BAX and NF-kB caused by EA application after transient global ischemia. The experimental method is to give rise to global ischemia and apply EA to 27 SD rats with the particulars of being six-week-old, male, around-300 gram-weighing, and adapted to laboratory environment for more than a week, and divide them into three groups, that is, GV20 EA group(n=9), L14 EA group(n=9), no-treatment GI group(n=9), and then observe their changes of BAX and NF-kB at the time lapse of 6 hours, 9 hours and 12 hours after ischemia, using western blotting. The numerical decrease of BAX expression at the time lapse of 9 hours after EA application, though not statistically significant, was observed in GV20 EA group and L14 EA group, and the NF-kB expression appeared statistically significant decrease in GV20 EA group and L14 EA group, but the expression was higher in the group with EA application. Therefore, EA application at the early phase of global ischemia is considered to affect BAX and NF-kB and play a positive role in decreasing apoptosis and cell deaths by inflammation.

  • This papers is to find out the design theory of total healing environment through the studies on the mutually complementary roles of proxemics, which is the objective and numerical design indicator in the analysis of space and the spacial expression theory, which is the subjective and intuitive design indicator. 3 factors in the elements of total healing environment have the following relationship. And 8 behavioral affordance factors in the elements of spatial expression have the following mutual relationships; The physical factor of total healing environment has the relation with the work&study(+) and circulation(+), the psychological factor has the relationship with the rest(-),visual sequence(-),social exchange(+),refreshment(-) and meditation(-). In addition, the social factor of total healing environment has the relation with the circulation(+),social exchange(+) and community(+). And the work&study(+) and rest(-) of the refuge have the relation with the intimate distance and personal distance, the circulation (+) and visual sequence (-) of the flow has the relationship with the social distance. • Fraction division is the content that is important but difficult to learn because it includes the process of finding a numerical expression in the real-world context, the process of making a context that matches a numerical expression, how to solve division, and the justification of standard algorithm. This study analyzes the word problems and problem solving methods about fraction division which elementary pre-service teachers represented. Pre-service teachers have more difficulty in making word problem where the dividend is less than the divisor and they also show typical errors in making the word problems. There were differences in the methods presented according to the contexts of division in problem solving. Through this study, it is necessary to rethink the teaching methods for fraction division instruction in the curriculum for pre-service teachers and analyze the formation process of 'knowledge for content and teaching' because of the differences in responses between grades.

  • In correspondence to the educational demand on study of computer principles that is recently being focused, this study promotes basic understanding on data structure and algorithm at the elementary student level through the process of simple numerical expressions and proposes effective education contents and methods. For this, an unplugged type computer education material was produced to understand the method of the computers for receiving data through activities. Also, we proposed students to create animation data to learn numerical expressions and algorithm through arrangements and linked lists. To examine educational effectiveness of this study, an experiment study was conducted through the education content and method to the subject of one class in the fifth-grade of elementary school located in OO metropolitan city. As a result, the student learned that there is a difference in calculation method between computers and people; and this enabled basic understanding on algorithm and data structure and presented positive responses to algorithm and data structure. In conclusion, it is confirmed that it is possible to provide effective education for students if the principle study of algorithm is proposed to proper levels.
