Several research works for finding and optimizing the methods of dispensing high viscosity phosphor used in the fabrication of white LED's are currently in progress. High viscosity phosphor dispensing with a high accuracy is crucial because the dispensing rate and uniformity directly affect parameters such as the CIE chromaticity diagram, color temperature and luminous flux of white LED's. This study presents a novel method of dispensing high viscosity phosphor using electrohydrodynamic printing. The dispensing rate was optimized less than 0.01 mg phosphor using experiments and optimizing the process parameters including the standoff distance from the nozzle to the substrate, ink supply pressure, and multi-step pulsed waveform magnitude ratio. The dispensing rate was measured by dispensing 20 dots using drop-on-demand with the optimized parameters, and the experiments were repeated 10 times to maximize the data accuracy. The average dispensing rate that can be reliably used for high viscosity phosphor dispensing was 0.0052 mg.

Measurements of the local heat transfer coefficients on a hemispherically concave surface with a round oblique impinging jet were made. The liquid crystal transient method was used for these measurements. This method, which is a variation of the transient method, suddenly exposes a preheated wall to an impinging jet while video recording the response of liquid crystal for the surface temperature measurements. The Reynolds number used was 23,000 and the nozzle -to -jet distance was L/d=2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 and the jet angle was $\alpha$=0$^{\circ}$, 15$^{\circ}$, 30$^{\circ}$and 40$^{\circ}$. In the experiment, the maximum Nusselt number at all region occurred at L/d(equation omitted)6 and Nusselt number decreases as the inclined jet angle increases. For the normal jet the contours of constant Nusselt number are circular and as the jet is inclined closer and closer to the surface the contours become elliptical shape. The decreasing rate of the Nusselt number at X/d> 0(upstream) on a surface curvature are higher than those on a flate plate and the decreasing rate of the Nusselt number at X/d <0(downstream) on a surface curvature are lower than those on a flate plate. And also, the decreasing rate of local Nusselt number distribution at X/d <0(upstream) exhibit lower than with X/d <0(downstream) as jet angle increases. The second maximum Nusselt number occurred at long distance from stagnation point as jet angle increases.

The component based propulsion modeling and simulation of an dual ramjet engine using Taylor-Maccoll flow equation and quasi 1-D combustor model. The subsonic and supersonic intake were modeled with Taylor-Maccoll flow having $25^{\circ}$ cone angle, the gas generator which transfers a pre-combustion gas into supersonic combustor was developed using Lumped model, and the determination of the size of nozzle throat of a gas generator was described. A quasi 1-D model was applied to model a supersonic combustor and the variation of temperature and pressure inside combustor were presented. Furthermore, the thrust and specific impulse applying fuel regulation by pressure recovery ratio and equivalence ratio were derived.

A calorimeter of 2-ton thrust level rocket engine chamber has been developed to measure the wall heat flux. The liner of the chamber is made of copper-chromium alloy to maximize the heat transfer performance and structural strength. 1-D design code based on empirical correlations has been used for the prediction of the global thermal characteristics while 3-D CFD has been applied for the verification of local cooling performance. The predicted average wall heat flux at the throat is 43 $MW/m^{2}$ for the combustion chamber pressure of 53 bar. The chamber structure is confirmed to be safe at the pressure of 150 bar through 2-D stress analysis and measurement of the strain of the test species. Finally, the test of pressurizing the calorimeter chamber has been performed with water at the pressure of 150 bar in room temperature environment. No thermal damage has been detected after the hot-fire test in the test nozzle of same cooling performance with the developed calorimeter though the measured throat heat flux is higher than the design value by 10%.

In this paper, a fundamental experiment regarding the formation of porous 3D structures for personal safety products using 3D PPP (Porous Polymer Printing) was introduced for the first time. The filament was manufactured by mixing PP (Polypropylene) and CBA (Chemical Blowing Agent) with polymer extruder, and the diameter of the filament was approximately 1.75mm. The proposed 3D PPP method, combined with the conventional FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) procedure, was influenced by process parameters, such as the nozzle temperature, printing speed and CBA density. In order to verify the best processing conditions, the depositing parameters were experimentally investigated for the porous polymer structure. These results provide parameters under which to form a multiple of 3D porous polymer structures, as well as various other 3D structures, and help to improve the mechanical shock absorption for personal safety products.

In this study, a plume exhausted from rocket nozzle is investigated by using an unstructured 2-dimensional axisymmetirc DSMC code at various altitude. The small back-pressure to total-pressure ratio($P_b/P_o$) and large $P_b/P_o$ represent low and high altitude condition, respectively. At low altitude, the plume shows a typical complicated structure (e.g. Mach disk) of underexpanded jet while the high altitude plume experiences plain expansion. The various features of exhaust plume is discussed including density, translational/rotational temperature, Mach number and Knudsen number. The results shows that even at 20 km altitude where the freestream Knudsen number is small as $1.5{\times}10^{-5}$, the transitional and rarefied flow regimes can occur locally within the plume. It confirms the necessity of DSMC computation at low altitude.
With the recent growing interest in eco-friendly cars, as interest in eco-friendly cars increases, interest and purchase of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles that do not emit pollutants are increasing. Recently, the government is supporting the expansion of hydrogen charging station and localization of core parts according to the government's hydrogen energy dissemination policy. In this study, the flow characteristics of the hydrogen flow control valve were investigated. As the differential pressure increases, the mass flow rate and flow coefficient tend to be different from the volume flow rate. And it was confirmed that it affects the hydrogen temperature due to the nozzle effect in the bottleneck section, and the change in density affects the mass flow rate.

An experimental study was performed for the behavior of the burner flame which results from burning of the liquid hydrocarbon fuel atomized by an ultrasonic transducer. Configurations of the flame and combustion-field were caught by both high-speed camera and thermo-graphic camera, and those images were analyzed in detail through a image post-processing. As a result, the combustion-field grew and reaction-temperature rose due to the strengthening of combustion reaction with the increasing flow-rate of carrier-gas. In addition, a phenomenon of flame flickering was discussed through the comparative analysis of the variational behavior between the visible flame and IR (Infrared) flame-field. Also, the flickering frequency of the flame was confirmed through FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) analysis employing the flame area.
In this study, carbon fiber and coated glass fiber are applied to warp and weft fiber in order to reduce the amount of carbon fiber used in carbon fiber fabrics, which are often used for reinforcement of building structures. A low-cost thermoplastic resin was coated on glass fibers to prepare a shape-stabilizing glass fiber. A unidirectional carbon fiber sheet was manufactured using the prepared coated glass fiber and carbon fiber. In order to identify whether it can be used for reinforcing architectural and civil structures, it was attached to a concrete specimen and its mechanical properties were analyzed. The optimum manufacturing conditions for the coated glass fiber were 0.3 mm in diameter of the coating nozzle, the coating temperature was 190 ℃, and the coating speed was 0.3 m/s. 14 mm was optimal for the weft spacing of the coated glass fiber. The flexural strength of the concrete reinforced with the manufactured unidirectional carbon fiber sheet was slightly lower than that of the concrete reinforced with carbon fiber fabric, but it was confirmed that the reinforcement effect was better when the amount of carbon fiber was considered.

In this study, micro- and submicron particles of itraconazole, a poorly water-soluble antifungal drug, were prepared for improving its aqueous solubility using an ultrasound-assisted supercritical fluid technique, called SAS-EM. The SAS-EM process used in our experiments was different from the conventional SAS-EM in that the ultrasound was applied directly to the spray nozzle. The effect of the ultrasonic power, temperature, and solvent on the formation of itraconazole particles were investigated. Smaller particles were obtained through our SAS-EM process compared with the ASES process, and the mean particle size decreased as the ultrasonic power increased. Our experimental results confirmed that the ultrasound-assisted supercritical fluid process is an efficient method for producing ultrafine particles.
