헬륨 기체분류의 정상적 비정상적 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Steady and Unsteady Behavior of Helium Jet in the Stationary Atmosphere)

  • This study aims to analyze the mixing characteristics of hydrogen considered as a new fuel for internal combustion engines. As the physical property of helium gas is similar to that of hydrogen, helium gas was used in this study. To analyze the steady and unsteady behavior of jet, helium gas was injected into the stationary atmosphere at the normal temperature and pressure. Concentration of helium gas in the center of jet flow is in inverse proportion with axial distance from the nozzle tip. This agrees with the free jet theory of Schlichting. The relative equation for dimensionless concentration to radial/axial distance the axial distance of potential core region, the cone angle a of the jet flow and the relative equation for arriving distance of the front of jet flow to the lapse of time are obtained. But free jet theory of Schlichting in the dimensionless concentration is not in agreement with the present experimental results of the distance of the radial direction. It needs more study. When the arrival frequency of jet flow is used as a parameter, the transition area changing from unsteady flow area into steady flow area becomes gradually wider downstream, but its ratio for the whole unsteady flow area gradually decreases.

Contrast-enhanced Bias-corrected Distance-regularized Level Set Method Applied to Hippocampus Segmentation

  • Recently, the level set has become a popular method in many research fields. The main reason is that it can be modified into many variants. One such case is our proposed method. We describe a contrast-enhancement method to segment the hippocampal region from the background. However, the hippocampus region has quite similar intensities to the neighboring pixel intensities. In addition, to handle the inhomogeneous intensities of the hippocampus, we used a bias correction before hippocampal segmentation. Thus, we developed a contrast-enhanced bias-corrected distance-regularized level set (CBDLS) to segment the hippocampus in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). It shows better performance than the distance-regularized level set evolution (DLS) and bias-corrected distance-regularized level set (BDLS) methods in 33 MRI images of one normal patient. Segmentation after contrast enhancement and bias correction can be done more accurately than segmentation while not using a bias-correction method and without contrast enhancement.

두 타원체 사이의 최단 근접 거리를 구하는 실용적인 방법 (A Practical Method to Compute the Closest Approach Distance of Two Ellipsoids)

  • 본 논문에서는 두 타원체 사이의 중심 간 방향으로의 최단 근접 거리를 구하는 실용적인 방법을 제안한다. 이는 타원체로 근사한 강체 및 변형체의 물리기반 동적 시뮬레이션에서 타원체 사이의 충돌을 처리 하는 핵심 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 외부에서 접하는 두 타원체의 중심 간 거리와 접촉점 및 접촉방향에 관한 조건식을 세우고 고정점 반복법 및 Aitken의 델타 자승 절차를 이용하여 최단 근접 거리를 구하는 방법을 개발한다. 또한 실제 오차에 따른 종료 조건을 도입함으로써 게임 등의 실시간 응용에서 최단 근접 거리를 더욱 빠르게 구할 수 있게 한다. 다양한 실험을 통해 제안된 방법의 효율성 및 실용성을 보인다.

보행 시 부하 위치에 따른 족저압 중심(COP) 이동 분석 (The Analysis of Center of Pressure(COP) Displacement under Loading Position during Walking)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of loading position on plantar center of pressure(COP) displacement when carrying a schoolbag during walking. Methods : Forty-four normal subjects were randomly assigned to five groups according to the method of carrying a schoolbag. The carrying a schoolbag methods were classified into five conditions: no bag (condition 1), a backpack (condition 2), a shoulder bag (condition 3), a cross bag (condition 4), a one-hand bag (condition 5). COP displacement such as anteroposterior distance and mediolateral distance of COP were measured with F-scan system. The repeated one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and independent t-test were used to confirm the statistical significance. Results : In the comparison of parameters of COP displacement between conditions, anteroposterior distance and mediolateral distance in the left foot and mediolateral distance in the right foot were not significantly different(p>.05), but anteroposterior diatance in the right foot was significantly different(p>.05). Between left and right foot, at condition 1 and 5 the mediolateral distance of COP was significantly different(p<.05) but anteroposterior distance at condition 1 and 5, anteroposterior distance and mediolateral distance of COP at condition 2, 3 and 4 were not significantly different(p>.05). Conclusion : These findings showed that the various loading position by five types of carrying a schoolbag didn't have influence significantly on COP displacement on during walking because of mechanism of postural adaption.

측두하악관절의 초음파영상과 자기공명영상에서 하악과두 외측면과 관절낭간 거리 측정치 비교 (Comparison of the capsular width measured on ultrasonogrape and MR image of the temporomandibular joint)

  • Purpose : To evaluate the reliability and clinical usefulness of ultrasonography in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Materials and Methods : Parasagittal and paracoronal 1.5 T MR images and 7.5 MHz ultrasonographs of 40 TMJs in 20 asymptomatic volunteers were obtained. Disc position using MR imaging was evaluated and the distance between the lateral surface of mandibular condyle and the articular capsule using MR image and ultrasonograph of 27 TMJs with normal disc position was measured and compared. Intraobserver and interobserver measurements reliability was evaluated by using interclass correlation coefficients (ICC) and measurement error. Also, the distance measured on ultrasonographs was compared, according to mouth position and disc postion. Results : The normal disc position was found in 27 of 40 asymptomatic joints. At the intraobserver reliability of measurement, ICC at the closed and open mouth position were 0.89 and 0.91. The measurement error was 0.4% and 0.5%. At the interobserver reliability, ICC at the closed and open mouth position were 0.92 and 0.81. The measurement error was 0.4% and 0.7%. At the TMJ with normal disc position, the distances between the lateral surface of mandibular condyle and the articular capsule measured on MR images and ultrasonographs were $2.0{\pm}0.7mm,\;1.8{\pm}0.5mm$, respectively (p<0.05). On the ultrasonographs, the distances at open mouth position were $1.2{\pm}0.5mm$ (p<0.05). At the TMJ with medially displaced disc, the distances at the closed and open mouth position were $1.3{\pm}0.3\;mm\;and\;0.9{\pm}0.2\;mm$ (p<0.05). Conclusion : The results suggest ultrasonography of TMJ is a reliable imaging technique for assessment of normal disc position.

Segmented Douglas-Peucker Algorithm Based on the Node Importance

  • Vector data compression algorithm can meet requirements of different levels and scales by reducing the data amount of vector graphics, so as to reduce the transmission, processing time and storage overhead of data. In view of the fact that large threshold leading to comparatively large error in Douglas-Peucker vector data compression algorithm, which has difficulty in maintaining the uncertainty of shape features and threshold selection, a segmented Douglas-Peucker algorithm based on node importance is proposed. Firstly, the algorithm uses the vertical chord ratio as the main feature to detect and extract the critical points with large contribution to the shape of the curve, so as to ensure its basic shape. Then, combined with the radial distance constraint, it selects the maximum point as the critical point, and introduces the threshold related to the scale to merge and adjust the critical points, so as to realize local feature extraction between two critical points to meet the requirements in accuracy. Finally, through a large number of different vector data sets, the improved algorithm is analyzed and evaluated from qualitative and quantitative aspects. Experimental results indicate that the improved vector data compression algorithm is better than Douglas-Peucker algorithm in shape retention, compression error, results simplification and time efficiency.

목포 대교와 통항 선박 사이의 충돌 확률 계산을 위한 통계 변수 추정 (Statistical Parameter Estimation to Calculate Collision Probability Between Mokpo Harbor Bridge and Passing Vessels)

  • 본 논문에서는 목포 대교와 통항 선박 사이의 충돌 확률 계산에 필요한 통계 변수 추정에 관해 기술했다. 먼저 목포대교 통항 선박들의 AIS(Automatic Identification System) 정보를 입수한 후, 선박들의 통항 궤적 분포를 분석하고, 목포대교 중심으로 부터의 이격 거리와 목포대교 통항시의 침로 및 속력 등에 대한 평균과 표준편차를 추정하였다. 궤적 분포 분석 결과, 이격 거리와 통항 침로에 대한 궤적 분포는 정규 분포 형태로 나타났고, 통항 속력 분포는 서로 다른 두 종류의 정규 분포 형태를 나타냈다. 그리고 궤적 분포와 이들의 정규 확률분포와의 상대 비교를 통해서 추정한 확률 변수 값의 유용성을 확인하였다.

Normal Human Pleural Surface Area Calculated by Computed Tomography Image Data

  • Background; Pleural micro-metastasis of lung cancer is detected by touch print cytology or pleural lavage cytology, but its prognostic impact has not elucidated yet. We hypothesize that recurrence may depend on the amount of tumor cells disseminated in pleural cavity, if the invasiveness of all cancer is the same. To predict the amount of tumor cells disseminated in pleural cavity, we need pleural surface area, distributed pattern of cells and concentration of cells per unit area. Human pleural surface area has not reported yet. In this report, we calculate the normal human pleural surface area using CT image data processing. Methods; Twenty persons were checked CT scan, and we obtained the data from each image. In order to calculate the pleural surface, the outline of lung was firstly extruded from CT image data using home-made Digitizer program. And the distance between CT images was calculated from the extruded outline. Finally a normal human pleural surface was calculated from function between the distance of consecutive CT images and the calculated length. Results; Their mean age is $65{\pm}12$ years old (range $26{\sim}77$), body weight is $62{\pm}9\;kg\;(48{\sim}80)$, and height is $167{\pm}6\;cm\;(156{\sim}176)$. The number of images used is $36{\pm}7\;(24{\sim}51)$. Pleural surface area is $211,888{\pm}35,756\;mm^2\;(143,880{\sim}279,576)$. Right-side pleural surface area is $107,932\;mm^2$ and Lt is $103,955\;mm^2$. Costal, mediastinal and diaphragmatic surfaces of right-side pleura are $77,483\;mm^2,\;39,057\;mm^2,\;and\;8,608\;mm^2$ respectively, and left-side are $72,497\;mm^2,\;35,578\;mm^2,\;and\;4,120\;mm^2$ respectively. Conclusion; Normal human pleural surface area is calculated using CT image data at first and the result is about $0.212\;m^2$.

Markov Envelope를 이용한 지진동의 위상차 확률분포와 전파지연시간의 추정 (Inference of the Probability Distribution of Phase Difference and the Path Duration of Ground Motion from Markov Envelope)

  • Markov envelope as a theoretical solution of the parabolic wave equation with Markov approximation for the von Kármán type random medium is studied and approximated with the convolution of two probability density functions (pdf) of normal and gamma distributions considering the previous studies on the applications of Radiative Transfer Theory (RTT) and the analysis results of earthquake records. Through the approximation with gamma pdf, the constant shape parameter of 2 was determined regardless of the source distance ro. This finding means that the scattering process has the property of an inhomogeneous single-scattering Poisson process, unlike the previous studies, which resulted in a homogeneous multiple-scattering Poisson process. Approximated Markov envelope can be treated as the normalized mean square (MS) envelope for ground acceleration because of the flat source Fourier spectrum. Based on such characteristics, the path duration is estimated from the approximated MS envelope and compared to the empirical formula derived by Boore and Thompson. The results clearly show that the path duration increases proportionately to ro1/2-ro2, and the peak value of the RMS envelope is attenuated by exp (-0.0033ro), excluding the geometrical attenuation. The attenuation slope for ro≤100 km is quite similar to that of effective attenuation for shallow crustal earthquakes, and it may be difficult to distinguish the contribution of intrinsic attenuation from effective attenuation. Slowly varying dispersive delay, also called the medium effect, represented by regular pdf, governs the path duration for the source distance shorter than 100 km. Moreover, the diffraction term, also called the distance effect because of scattering, fully controls the path duration beyond the source distance of 300 km and has a steep gradient compared to the medium effect. Source distance 100-300 km is a transition range of the path duration governing effect from random medium to distance. This means that the scattering may not be the prime cause of peak attenuation and envelope broadening for the source distance of less than 200 km. Furthermore, it is also shown that normal distribution is appropriate for the probability distribution of phase difference, as asserted in the previous studies.

VDT 작업시 자기장이 인체에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (An Effect of Magnetic Field on VDT Work)

  • The effect of magnetic field on VDT work has not been clarified yet, but many studies repoerted that magnetic field could cause of the cancers. Many developed countries have set the criteria of magnetic field and produce the VDT which has lower magnetic value. The purpose of this study was to measure the intensity of magnectic field from VDT. For this purpose three experiments were performed. The first was designed to measure the intensity of magnetic field by distances(30,60,90 cm) and directions. The second was to compare the intensities between VDT and Color TV. The last was to evaluate the eye protec- tion glasses. The reults showed that the intensity of magnetic field was lowered in proportion to the distance $r^{3}$and both lateral sides of the VDT marked high values compared to the frontal and back sides. On the same distance (30 cm) color TV marked high value to the VDT. But on the normal work distance (TV: 100 cm, VDT: 30 cm) there was little difference, Eye protection glasses could not protect the magnetic field physically.
