In this study, the effects of initial texture on the twinning formation of AZ31 Mg rolled sheet was investigated. Uniaxial compression tests were carried out on samples cut along the normal direction(ND) and roiling direction(RD), respectively, of rolled AZ31 Mg alloy sheet at various temperatures (RT, 200, 250, 300, 350, $400^{\circ}C$) with the fixed strain rate($10^{-2}/s$). The results showed that deformation twining occurred actively only in the RD specimens, which promoted homogeneous deformation as compared to the ND specimens. The effect of temperature on the formation of deformation twins was also investigated, and the slip/twin transition temperature was found to be approximately $250^{\circ}C$.

The formation of preferred orientations in cold rolled and recrystallized Inconel 690 sheets was studied by the x-ray texture measurements and TEM observations. The increasing{220} pole intensity in the plane normal at the higher reductions was related to the{110}<112> texture component. The rolling texture of the Inconel 690 was the pure metal type. THe dislocation cells were found in the near{110}<112> oriented grains. The onset of deformation twins in the {112}<111>oriented grains. The onset of deformation twins in the {112}<111> oriented grains. The onset of deformation twins in the {112}<111> oriented grains caused the weakening of {112}<111> and the development of {552}<115> in the rolling texture. The annealing texture of the Inconel 690 sheets was dependent on the annealing temperature. The annealing texture of 750$^{\circ}C$ annealed sheets was similar to the cold rolling texture. The major preferred orientations of the 950$^{\circ}C$ annealed specimens were {112}<110> and {001}<110>. The formation of fine and closely spaced annealing twins in the specimen annealed at 1150$^{\circ}C$ led to the randomization of the annealing texture.

The purpose of this study is to suggest a hyperfine maskless writing technique by using the nanoindentation and HF wet etching technique. Indents were made on the surface of Pyrex7740 glass by the hyperfine indentation process with a Berkovich diamond indenter, and they were etched in $50\;wr\%$ HF solution. After etching process, convex structure was obtained due to the deformation-induced hillock phenomena. In this study, effects of indentation process parameters (etching time, normal load, loading .ate, hold-time at the maximum load) on the morphologies of the indented surfaces after isotopic etching were investigated from an angle of deformation energies. Finally, sample characters were written to show the possibility of the application.

To get the possible for management and maintenance, it was analyzed the deformation characteristics, such as crest of embankment and concrete face slab, and leakage of concrete faced rockfill dams (CFRD). There are trends that embankment deformation depends on intact strength used rockfills rather than dam height, deformation normal to concrete face slab during the first reservoir filling is occurred more than 80% of the total deformation in general, and the magnitude and trend of concrete face slab deformation is similar to post-construction crest settlement. The results showed that the range of post-construction crest settlement suggested by Sherard and Cooke (1987), and Clements (1984) had a good agreement in the cases using rockfill with very high intact strength, but it had a trend which underestimated crest settlement in the cases using rockfill with medium to high intact strength. The maximum leakage rate in general was observed during the first reservoir filling and long-term leakage rate was rapidly increased when the dam height exceeds approximately 120m.

Force balance method is employed to predict forging information such as forging load, tool pressure and normal stress at the surface of tangential velocity discontinuity. The incipient stages of deformation for the plane strain forging of rectangular billets in V-shaped dies of different semi-angles are analysed. To construct an approximate model for the analysis of deformation by the force balance method in the incipient deformation stages, slip-line field is used. When the deformation mode by slip-line method is the same as that by force balance method, the slip-line method and the force balance method give identical solutions. The effects of die angle, coefficient of friction, billet geometries and deforma- tion characteristics are also investigated. In order to verify the validity of force balance analysis, the rigid-plastic finite element simulation for the various forgig parameters are performed and performed and find to be in good agreement.
This paper presents mechanical analysis of gas turbine generator (113MVA, $3{\phi}$, 2P, 0.9PF, F class, 3600rpm, 60Hz, 13.8kV, 4.72kA, Air-Cooling) field coil deformation. Rotor end coil deformation is only appeared on turbine end but collector end coil is normal. Expansion direction of end coil is tangential not axial. Deformation appears more severe at top turn. Retaining ling is expanded by centrifugal force of coil and itself. In case friction coefficient between coil top surface and retaining ring insulation inner surface is small, coil end length ${\ell}$ does not change. However, in case friction coefficient big condition, coil end is expanded ${\Delta}{\ell}$ due to start and stop. Deformation is assumed about 30mm by watching photograph inner surface of retaining ring is coated by Teflon at manufacturing condition. Usually Teflon coating insulation surface is small friction coefficient. It's value 0.08${\sim}$0.15. However it's value exceeds more than 0.297. Since top turn deformation appears. The distortion and subsequent failure have occurred because of the lack of a sufficient slip-plane between the top field coil conductors and the inside surface of the retaining ring insulation on the turbine end of the field-winding.
A discrete joint finite element with joint surface degradation was developed to investigate the shear behavior of rough rock joint. Isoparametric formulation was used for facilitating the implementation of the element in existing Finite Element Codes. The elasto-plastic joint deformation model with the discontinuity constitutive law proposed by Plesha was applied to the element. The reliability of the developed finite element code was successfully testified through numerical direct shear tests conducted under both constant normal stress and constant normal displacement conditions. The result of the numerical direct shear test showed that the code can capture characteristic deformation features envisaged in the direct shear test of rough rock joint.

This paper introduces a method for calculation of dynamic stress occurring in flexible bodies of a moving multibody system by using commercial softwares DADS for dynamic analysis and MSC/NASTRAN for finite element analysis. Three methods for model transient response analysis of a flexible body are summarized. Elastic deformation of a flexible body can be described with normal modes and static modes composed of constraint modes and residual attachment modes. The deformation modes divided into fixed-interface modes and free-interface modes can be determined by using MSC/NASTRAN and selected for dynamic analysis. The dynamic results obtained from DADS are utilized to calculate dynamic stress by using mode-displacement method or mode-acceleration method of MSC/NASTRAN. As a numerical example of the analysis, we used a three dimensional slider-crank model with a flexible connecting rod.

Elastic-Plasitc Finite element analysis is peformed about the TiN coated medium. The normal contact is simulated by a rigid asperity pressing the surface of an elastic-plastic half-surface. The case of a surface film stiffer than the substrate is considered, and general solutions for the subsurface stress and deformation fields are presented for several coating thickness. Additionally, the critical normal loads for deformation in the substrate and coating fracture are calculated when the yield of TiN film follows the Maximum Principal Stress Theory and Von Mises Theory. The results can be subsumed in failure maps for TiN thin film on steel.
Stability and mechanical deformation behavior of rock masses are highly dependent on the mechanical characteristics of contained discontinuities. Therefore, mechanical characteristics of the discontinuities should be considered in the design of tunnel and underground structures. In this study, direct shear tests for rough granite joints were carried out under constant normal stiffness conditions. Effects of initial normal stress, shear velocity, and surface roughness on the characteristics of shear strength and deformation behaviors were examined. Results of shear testing under constant normal stiffness conditions reveal that shear behaviors could be classified into two categories, based on the amount of decrease in shear stress at the Int peak shear stress. With initial normal stiffness increasing, it turned out that shear displacement at peak stress and the first peak shear stress increased, however friction angle and friction coefficient showed decrease. In case of shear stiffness and average friction coefficient, it turned out that they are not dependent on the initial normal stress. Minor effects of shear velocity on rough joints were observed in several shear quantities. However, the effects of shear velocity were insignificant regardless of the normal stress increase. Change of shear strength and deformation characteristics on joint roughness were examined, however, it turned out that the variations were attributed to deviation of shear test specimens.
