In this paper, an integrated nonlinear sliding mode observer and controller has been designed in order to control of an automotive engine idle speed. The primary objective of the engine idle speed control is to maintain the desired engine idle speed despite of various torque disturbances via estimating air mass flow at the location of the injector in intake manifold by using a sliding mode observer. Simulation results show that the case where both throttle angle and ignition time are used as control inputs outperforms the case where just only throttle angle is used as a control input.

PID controllers with constant gains have been widely used in various control systems due to its powerful performance and easy implementation. But it is difficult to have uniformly good control performance in all operating conditions. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear variable PR controller with immune feedback mechanism. An immune feedback mechanism is based on the functioning of biological T-cells, they include both an active term, which controls response speed. and an inhibitive term, which controls stabilization effect. Therefore, the proposed nonlinear PID controller is based on immune responses of biological. immune feedback mechanism which is the cell mediated immunity and In order to choose the optimal nonlinear PID controller games, we also propose the tuning algorithm of nonlinear function parameter in immune feedback mechanism. To verify performance of the proposed algorithm, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor are performed. Front the simulation results, we have found that the proposed algorithm is more superior to the conventional constant fain PID controller.

This paper introduces a high-performance speed control system based on artificial neural networks(ANN) to estimate unknown parameters of a DC servo motor. The goal of this research is to keep the rotor speed of the DC servo motor to follow an arbitrary selected trajectory. In detail, the aim is to obtain accurate trajectory control of the speed, specially when the motor and load parameters are unknown. By using an artificial neural network, we can acquire unknown nonlinear dynamics of the motor and the load. A trained neural network identifier combined with a reference model can be used to achieve the trajectory control. The performance of the identification and the control algorithm are evaluated through the simulation and experiment of nonlinear dynamics of the motor and the load using a typical DC servo motor model.

Sensorless speed estimation in induction motor systems is one of the most control engineers. Based on the estimated speed the vector control has been applied to the high precision torque control however most speed estimation methods use adaptive scheme so that it takes long time to estimate the speed. Thus the adaptive estimation scheme is not effective to the induction motor which requires short sampling time. In this paper a new linearized equation of induction motor system is proposed and a sensorless speed estimation algorithm based on observation techniques is developed. First the nonlinear induction motor equation is linearized at an equilibrium point. Second a proportional integral(PI) observer is applied to estimate the speed state in the induction motor system. Finally simulation results will assure the effectiveness of the new linearized equation and the sensorless estimation algorithm by using PI observer in the nonlinear induction motor system.

This paper proposes a new nonlinear speed controller with a fuzzy load torque observer based on the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy method for a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM). The LMI conditions are derived for the existence of the proposed nonlinear speed controller and fuzzy load torque observer, and the LMI parameterization to obtain the gain matrices of the controller and observer is given. In this paper, to verify the performance of the proposed nonlinear speed controller and fuzzy load torque observer, and the simulation and experimental results are demonstrated under motor parameter and load torque variations.

This paper proposes a nonlinear speed controller for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). In this paper, the load torque is estimated by an extended Kalman filter (EKF) observer because the proposed controller needs its knowledge. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, simulations and experiments are performed under motor parameter variations with a prototype PMSM drive system.
Estimation errors of the rotor speed and position in sensorless control systems of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) will lead to low efficiency and dynamic-performance degradation. In this paper, a parallel-type extended nonlinear observer incorporating the nominal parameters is constructed in the stator-fixed reference frame, with rotor position, speed, and the load torque simultaneously estimated. The stability of the extended nonlinear observer is analyzed using the indirect Lyapunov's method, and observer gains are selected according to the transfer functions of the speed and position estimators. Taking into account the parameter inaccuracies issue, explicit estimation error equations are derived based on the error dynamics of the closed-loop sensorless control system. An equivalent flux error is defined to represent the back Electromotive Force (EMF) error caused by the inaccurate motor parameters, and a compensation strategy is designed to suppress the estimation errors. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been validated through simulation and experimental results.
this paper presents an implementation of digital control system of speed sensorless for Reluctance Synchronous Motor (RSM) drives with direct torque control (DTC). The problem of DTC for high-dynamic performance RSM drive is generating a nonlinear torque due to a saturated nonlinear inductance curve with various load currents. The control system consists of stator flux observer, compensating inductance look-up table, rotor position/speed/torque estimator, two hysteresis band controllers, an optimal switching look-up table, IGBT voltage source unverter, and TMS320C31 DSP controller. The stator flux observer is based on the combined voltage and current model with stator flux feedback adapitve control that inputs are the compensated inductances, current and voltage sensing of motor terminal with estimated rotor angle for wide speed range. The rotor position is estimated rotor speed is determined by differentiation of the rotor position used only in the current model part of the flux observer for a low speed operation area. It does not requrie the knowledge of any montor paramenters, nor particular care for moter starting, In order to prove the suggested control algorithm, we have simulation and testing at actual experimental system. The developed sensorless control system is showing a good speed control response characterisitic result and high performance features in 20/1500 rpm with 1.0Kw RSM having 2.57 ratio of d/q reluctance.

Mathematical models of industrial robots or manipulators are composed of highly nonlinear equations with nonlinear couplings between the variables of motions. These nonlin- earities were not considered important in the first stage that the working speed of the manipulator was not so fast, but the effect of nonlinear forces has become serious, as the working speed has been increased. So more improvement of performance cannot be expected by the control of manipulator using approximate linearization. As an approach for solving these problems, there is a method that eliminates nonlinear theory, which makes possible cecoupling of coupling terms and arbitrary arranging of poles is briefly introduced in this study. When the theory is applied to design the control law, its feasibility is examined whether the reasonable control results are obtained by simulating position, velocity, torque and tracing trajectory. The relations between the coefficients of the linearized differential equations and the maximum error and torque for the prescribed trajectory are also examined. Finally, the method for selecting the values for getting the most rapid and precise response within maximum torque of each drive is suggested in the choice of coefficients of characteristic equations which are obtained as a result of the control.

Servo motor systems with ball-screw and timing-belt are widely used in NC, robot, FA and industrial applications. However, the nonlinear friction torque and damping effect in machine elements reduce the control performance. Especially tracking errors in trajectory control and very low velocity control range are serious due to the break-away friction and Stribeck effects. In this paper, a new double speed controller is proposed for compensation of the nonlinear friction torque. The proposed double speed controller has outer speed controller and inner friction torque compensator. The proposed friction torque compensator compensates the nonlinear friction torque with actual speed and speed error information. Due to the actual information for friction torque compensator without parameters and mathematical model of motor, proposed compensator is very simple structure and the stability is very high. The proposed compensator is verified by simulation and experimental results.
