Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the happiness of otaku college students to that of non-otaku college students. Methods: Data were collected using structured questionnaires targeting college students who visited the S Fair, which displayed and promoted contents related to animation, figures, comics, music, entertainers, etc. A total of 236 college students were included in the analysis. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analyses were carried out using SPSS 24.0. Results: As a result of the study, 71 students (30.1%) were otaku. The happiness score was 43.17±8.62 for otaku, and 40.21±10.44 for non-otaku. After controlling for significant covariates (age, major, economic status, job seeking stress, depression, life stress, social support, and self-esteem), otaku students had a significantly higher happiness score than non-otaku students (b=1.91, p=.043). Conclusion: It was found that otaku college students were happier than non-otaku students, even though the difference was not big. Therefore, this suggests that otaku activities may, to some extent, contribute to subjective mental health such as happines.
The purpose of this study was to analyze college students basic knowledge of oral health of a college student and compare with the knowledge of oral health between dental hygiene students and non-dental hygiene students. A survey was conducted on the residents in Gyeonggi-do and Gwangju from June 2006 to May 2007. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. Concerning the knowledge of oral health, dental hygiene students got the source of information most frequently from school work about oral health(80.0%) and non-dental hygiene students got from health programs of TV or radio(42.7%). Concerning the reason of keeping of oral hygiene, dental hygiene students were to preventive of dental caries(80.9%) and nondental hygiene students were to preventive of periodontal disease(52.4%). There were significant difference between dental hygiene students and non-dental hygiene students(p < 0.001). 2. The knowledge degree of dental caries, to the both groups, methods of preventing caries appeared regular brush and main cause of dental caries was not to brush. There were significant difference between dental hygiene students and non-dental hygiene students(p < 0.001). 3. Dental hygiene students answered about the knowledge of fluoride know fluoride(93.6%) and non-dental hygiene students answered (55.3%). Dental hygiene students thought that fluoride could preventive dental caries(85.5%) but non-dental hygiene students thought that fluoride couldn't preventive dental caries(51.0%). There was significant difference between dental hygiene students and non-dental hygiene students(p < 0.001). 4. In the knowledge of oral health state, both of groups, replied that their own tooth state is average but they concerned about their tooth health. There was significant difference between dental hygiene students and non-dental hygiene students(p < 0.001). About main cause of dental caries, students ranked that the first reason was the poor toothbrush and the second reason was the over intaking of sugared foods. 5. About knowledge of oral diagnosis, to both groups, students ranked that first could endure the pain and the second was in much pain. For both groups, students ranked that difficult of dental treatment was cost, fear and time. There was significant difference between dental hygiene students and non-dental hygiene students(p < 0.01). For both groups, when they visit dentist's office, they felt misgivings and fear.
This study analyzed the health risk behavior of Korean college students by comparing them based on the college location (Seoul vs. non-Seoul). Converging analyses of health risk behaviors (drinking behavior, sex, suicidality) and health risk factors (mental health, stress) were attempted. The results showed the 23% of students were at risk of serious drinking problem, and the 52.6% of students consumed alcohol once in every other week or more often. In case of the sexual behavior, 40.6% had sexual experience. Importantly, the 25.4% and the 20.3% of college students in Seoul and non-Seoul area, respectively, had two or more sexual partners. Also, students in non-Seoul area had a tendency of the higher level of suicidality, and the lower level of mental health. Overall, the self-respect score was the only statistically significant factor showing the Seoul/non-Seoul difference. These results may be able to intervene the health risk behaviors of college students.
Purpose: This study measured awareness of automated external defibrillators (AED) among students majoring in health-related versus non-health-related fields. Methods: A total of 577 students filled out a questionnaire on awareness of AEDs between June 12 and June 28, 2017. Using SPSS 23.0, data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and t-tests. Results: In response to a question about awareness of AED, 25.0% of students majoring in a health-related and 38.6% of those majoring in a non-health-related field answered on "I have seen or heard" and "I have no idea". In response to a question on perception on AED use, 82.4% of students majoring in a health-related field and 88.1% of those in a non-health-related field reported that they thought perception of AED use was not universal. In terms of experience with education on the use of AED, 30.2% of health-related majors and 49.7% of non-health-related majors had not received any training on the use of AED. The average overall score regarding knowledge about AED was 8.69 for health-related majors, compared to 7.79 for non-health-related majors. Conclusion: In order to improve awareness regarding AED use, education on importance and necessity of AED should be emphasized and implemented consistently by the mass media.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the degree of depression cognition and health promoting behaviors of smoking and non-smoking college students. Methods: The research design was a descriptive survey study, and 379 college students were selected by convenience sampling. Measurements were Fagerstrom test for Nicotine Dependence, Depressive cognition and Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile-II. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and logistic regression were used to analyze the data. Results: 1) Smoking students showed lower scores in depressive cognitions than non-smoking students, which means that the smoker's depression was higher than the non-smokers. 2) Depressive cognition and health promoting behaviors were negatively correlated for the smokers (r=-.30, p<.01), while they were positively correlated for the non-smokers (r=.45, p<.001). 3) The variables predicting the smoker's health promoting behavior were physical activity (OR .24), health responsibility (OR .25), spiritual growth (OR 5.10), stress management (OR 4.41), extrovert personality (OR .25), and depressive cognition (OR 1.81). Conclusions: Depression and health promoting behavior should be considered in the smoking cessation programs for college students.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide substantial foundation to establish effective sex education plan for university students, and to inquire into sexual knowledge, consciousness and values of university students and into whether there are difference between health related major subjects and non-health related major subjects. Methods: This study was conducted on students in 227 health related major subjects and 226 non-health related major subjects in chungbuk C city. The Questionnaire, used in this study, was re-made on basis of reviews and previous studies, and total of 453 questionnaires were used. Results: Sexual knowledge scores were not significantly difference between health related major subjects and non-health related major subjects. but health related major subjects were more educated contraception, pregnancy artificial abortion, sexually transmitted disease than non-health related major subjects. Sexual knowledge was correlated with attitude in sex, times of sex education and usefulness of sex education. Conclusion: The university authorities make a curriculum for systematic sex educations and need to assertive support students and they can have right sexual consciousness and have mature and responsible attitude to sex through right education of knowledge in sex.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a mobile health lifestyle program for university students and to verify its effectiveness. Methods: The program was developed based on Jung's teaching-learning system design model. The research used a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest non-synchronized design. Data were collected from October 20 to December 5, 2018. To verify the effects of the program, the knowledge, self-efficacy, and intention to plan health lifestyle and health lifestyle behavior were measured. A two hour health lecture and a mobile health lifestyle program were delivered for 3 weeks to 23 students in the experimental group. 19 students in the control group received only a two hour health lecture. Results: The experimental group showed significantly higher scores on knowledge (F=4.63, p=.038), intention to plan health lifestyle (F=14.44, p<.001), and health lifestyle behavior (F=46.80, p<.001). However, the score on self-efficacy was not significantly different (F=2.65, p=.112). Conclusion: It was confirmed that the mobile health lifestyle program can be useful in increasing the level of knowledge, intention and behavior of health lifestyle among university students. Therefore, the mobile health lifestyle application can be used as a supporting resource to enhance the health promotion for university students.
This study was performed to investigate the nutrition knowledge, attitudes, and dietary habits of physical education (PE) major and non-majors of male college students. The subjects were 253 students residing in Gyeonggi area. Nutrition knowledge scores of PE major students were lower than that of non-major students. Both PE major and non-major students reported TV, radio, and internet as their primary sources of nutrition information. Overall dietary attitude scores of two groups did not differ significantly, but PE major students showed more positive attitudes than non-major students for 'Enjoy eating foods that are good for health'. PE major students took more number of meals a day and took more irregularly than non-major students. Also they used more nutrient supplements than non-major students. PE major students drank more amounts of alcohol and drank more frequently than non-major students. But the smoking status of the two groups was not significantly different. PE major students scored higher than non-major students in dietary habits on balance of meals in spite of their low nutrition knowledge scores. Therefore, it is suggested that nutritional programs for PE major and non-major college students should be developed. (Korean J Community Nutrition 14(4) : $363{\sim}373$, 2009)
By the research of the actual state of food consciousness as the object of male, female 421 college students by major, non-major in food dietetics, the results are as follows. The validity degree of the guestion article appeared at the analysis of the knowledge of nutrition(the figure of Cronbach "${\alpha}$" overall 0.58, major 0.62, non-major 0.57). In the interest degree about nutrition knowledge of the major students were significant(P<0.05), but the non-major students were not significant, and there was a difference between two groups of the male and female, major and non-major students in the information about knowledge. The knowledge of the major students mostly get from school education, non-major from mass communication as TV and rodio, etc. There was not significant difference in self-consciousness degree of health of all the male, female students by major, non-major, and the self-consciousness degree about health of should not be significant to the food habit. Therefore deviating from acquirement of nutrition knowledge by the wrong medium of food consciousness of home dietary life, improvement plans should be activated for the right knowledge to practice in actual life. Taking the opportunity of food and nutrition education through literary subject in the curriculum of the college for students, good food consciousness must be properly applied all the part of dietary life, and it is urgent for them to carry out scientific and reasonable curriculum and educational material development.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to provide basic data necessary for educating nursing students by establishing a desirable sense of ethics values. Method: In this descriptive research, 101 nursing students and 191 non-nursing students (in other health related fields) from Daejeon City were selected. Tools used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test and step wise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 12.0 version. Results: Average scores for consciousness of biomedical ethics in nursing students was 2.94, and in non-nursing students, 2.77. When differences in the consciousness of biomedical ethics of nursing and non-nursing students were compared, nursing students had significantly higher scores for artificial abortion, artificial insemination, prenatal diagnosis of fetus, right to life of newborn, euthanasia, organ transplantation and human biotechnology, but significantly lower for brain death. Variables which influenced consciousness of biomedical ethics were religion and economic status in the nursing students and intent to attend a class in biomedical ethics, quantity and quality of biomedical ethics in the current curriculum and religion in the non-nursing students. Conclusion: Continuing educational programs need to be considered and attention given to the significant variables that can promote consciousness of biomedical ethics in nursing students.
