  • Through the industrial revolution that began in the 18th century, the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increased rapidly as humans used fossil energy such as coal and oil as fuel for steam engines and factory machines. The amount of carbon dioxide emitted while producing cement, the main material of concrete used in construction, is large enough to account for 5-8% of the world's carbon dioxide emissions. In this study, Non cement-based matrix were used to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from cement production. Red mud is an industrial by-product generated in the manufacturing process of aluminum hydroxide using bauxite, and more than 120 million tons are produced worldwide. In addition, red mud is a porous material that can be physically adsorbed, and causes a photocatalytic reaction of TiO2 to remove harmful substances such as nitrogen oxide formaldehyde in the air and chemically adsorbs ammonia and hydrogen sulfide. Therefore, this study aims to examine the physical properties of the matrix by mixing red mud, an industrial by-product with good adsorption performance, into the Non cement-based matrix.

  • This research investigates the characteristics of chloride fixation in non-sintering cement(NSC) matrix. NSC was manufactured by adding phosphogypsum and slack lime to granulated blast furnace slag as sulfate and alkali activators. As a result, the concentration of chloride ion in pore solution of NSC-solidified matrix is more low than that of OPC-solidified matrix containing the same chloride content in cement paste. Also, the concentration of chloride ion in pore solution of NSC-solidified matrix is similar with that of BSC-solidified matrix containing the same chloride content in cement paste.

  • The Present that environmentally friendly policies at issue in the world recently, construction sector and other sectors are working on reducing CO2. Cement production during in the construction sector, CO2 is being caused in large quantities. Therefore, this study was secure the basic date that not use cement and use blast furnace slag and fly ash HFA, polysilicon in industrial byproducts about cement non-cement matrix.

  • This study is the experiment for manufacturing the Lightweight non-cement matrix based on the Blast furnace slag. And, the matrix was manufactured matrix by generating the bubble just by the reaction of KOH that is the alkali accelerator and paper ash, instead of the general foaming agent, that is the waste managed of incineration the pulp sludge generated in the process of manufacturing the paper. Consequently, the density according to the addition rate of KOH represented the tendency to increase. And it showed up that density of the matrix adding KOH 22.5% was the lowest. As to the strength test result, strength following addition rate of KOH increased. Since the bubble is generated in the reaction of KOH and paper ash, this shows the very low intensity but it is determined to be the result that the amount of vacant space is decreased because the bubble generated in the mixture process comes up as the specific gravity difference.

  • This study aims to manufacture non-sintering cement(NSC) by adding phosphogypsum(PG) and waste lime(WL) to granulated blast furnace slag(GBFS) as sulfate and alkali activators. This study also investigates the pore structure of NSC Matrix. The result of experiment of pore structure properties, showed no considerable difference for total pore volume by cement mixing ratio but shows a large distinction in distribution of pore diameter. On the whole, pore-diameter of paste of NSC show that occupation ratio of pore diameter below 10mm is larger and is smaller than OPC and BFSC at pore diameter of over 10nm. Such a reason is that the hydrate like CSH gel and ettringite formed dense pore structure of NSC matrix.

  • As the use of cement increases with the development of modern society along with the increase of buildings, environmental pollution intensifies and researches on industrial byproducts are continuing. Research on blast furnace slag and fly ash as industrial byproducts is increasing, and research on industrial byproducts such as polysilicon sludge and paper ash used in this study is increasing. Blast furnace slag, which is one of the industrial byproducts, has been widely studied as a material used with cement. However, in this study, we fabricated lightweight matrix of polysilicon sludge and paper ash replaced based on blast furnace slag, and performed SEM analysis.

  • As global warming becomes serious, research is continuously being conducted to reduce CO2 emissions. Among building materials, the carbon emission of cement is so high that it accounts for 6.8% of the carbon emission of the entire industry. Studies replacement of cement with blast furnace slag and fly ash are steadily increasing. In addition, efforts are being made to reduce air pollution due to increased damage caused by increased concentrations of harmful substances such as fine dust and heavy metals in the air. There is an increasing number of studies that enable adsorption by mixing adsorbents into building materials. This study reviewed the strength properties to make an adsorbable non-cement finishing material by mixing tourmaline, an adsorbent, based on the non-cement composite, and confirmed that the strength decreases as the replacement ratio increases.

  • This experimental study considers manufacturing method of the non-portland cement matrix for the light-weight building materials using blast furnace slag, paper ash, fly ash and polysilicon sludge the industrial by-product. For the experiment, we used paper ash by means of the foaming agent and alkali activator to make non-portland cement light-weight matrix. Various specimens were prepared with different types and addition ratios of the alkali activator. Then, the properties of these specimens were investigated by compressive strength test, bulk specific gravity. As a results, it was judged that experiment results of non-portland cement matrix with specific waste resources and alkali activators were useful as basic data for mixtures design and evaluation properties of lightweight non-portland cement building material.

  • This research investigates the drying shrinkage of non-sintering cement(NSC) matrix added phosphogypsum(PG) and waste lime(WL) to granulated blast furnace slag(GBFS) as sulfate and alkali activators with various curing condition. The experimental results are follow: When the moisture is fully supplied at the early curing age, there is effect which carries out abundant generation of the ettringite which is an expansion nature mineral, and compensates for contraction with a chemical prestress concept.
