In this paper, we propose a new IPC(Interlace to Progressive Conversion) method based on ELA(EDge Line based Average) interpolation using detecting the reliable edge direction. Existing ELA algorithms execute linear interpolation using edge direction without considering noises. In noisy images, these algorithms degrade quality because if interpolation based on the wrong edge direction. Out scheme is able to solve the problem of existing ELA algorithms in noisy images. First, filter a noisy pixel and estimate sizes of the noiseless orginal pixed and the noise, repectively. Then, considering the size of the noise, calculate weights of ELA and vertical interpolation. If noises exist after IPC, these could be eliminated by post filtering. The experimental results show that our proposed algorithm has about $1{\sim}2$ dB better performance than those of existing ELA algorithms.

This paper relates to the performance analysis of DoA estimation algorithm in 2-dimensional circular array antenna for the receiving of GPS signal which is used for the performance improvement by elimination of jammer signal. By performing the spatial filtering after the DoA estimation in array antenna, the quality of receiving signal can improve by the nulling of jammer signal from the undesired direction and the forming of beam from the desired direction. In this paper, the MUSIC and MinNorm algorithm used for DoA estimation were applied after fixing the angle and power of jammer signal in 4 element and 7 element circular array antenna. In order to performance analysis, the estimation result and estimation error were computed by computer simulation. As a result, the MUSIC and MinNorm were fairly good in azimuth and elevation angle estimation of DoA in case of good signal to noise ratio and the MUSIC has better performance compared to MinNorm in case of poor signal to noise ratio.

Spatial control of sound is essential to deliver better sound to the listener's position in space. As it can be experienced in many listening environments. the quality of sound can not be manifested over every Position in a hall. This motivates us to control sound in a region we select. The primary focus of the developed method has to do with the brightness and contrast of acoustic image in space. In particular, the acoustic brightness control seeks a way to increase loudness of sound over a chosen area, and the contrast control aims to enhance loudness difference between two neighboring regions. This enables us to make two different kinds of zone - the zone of quiet and the zone of loud sound - at the same time. The other perspective of this study is on the direction of sound. It is shown that we can control the direction of perceived sound source by focusing acoustic energy in wavenumber domain. To begin with, the proposed approaches are formulated for pure-tone case. Then the control methods are extended to a more general case, where the excitation signal has broadband spectrum. In order to control the broadband signal in time domain, an inverse filter design problem is defined and solved in frequency domain. Numerical and experimental results obtained in various conditions certainly validate that the acoustic brightness, acoustic contrast, direction of wave front can be manipulated for some finite region in space and time.
While acquiring images, the relative motion between the imaging device and the object scene seriously damages the image quality. This phenomenon is called motion blur. The peak-trace approach, which is our recent previous work, identifies important parameters to characterize the point spread function (PSF) of the blur, given only the blurred image itself. With the peak-trace approach the direction of the motion blur can be extracted regardless of the noise corruption and does not need much Processing time. In this paper stochastic peak-trace approaches are introduced. The erroneous data can be selected through the ML classification, and can be made small through weighting. Therefore the distortion of the direction in the low frequency region can be prevented. Using the linear prediction method, the irregular data are prohibited from being selected as the peak point. The detection of the second peak using the proposed moving average least mean (MALM) method is used in the Identification of the motion extent. The MALM method itself includes a noise removal process, so it is possible to extract the parameters even an environment of heavy noise. In the experiment, we could efficiently restore the degraded image using the information obtained by the proposed algorithm.

While acquiring the image, the shaking of the image capturing equipment or the object seriously damages the image quality. This phenomenon, which degrades the clarity and the resolution of the image is called motion blur. In this paper, a newly defined function is introduced for finding the degree and the length of the motion blur. The domain of this function defined as Peak-trace domain. In The Peak-trace domain, the noise dominant region for calculating the noise variance and the signal dominant region for extracting the degree and the length of the motion blur are defined and analyzed. Using the information of the Peak-trace in the signal dominant region, we can find the direction of the motion regardless of the noise corruption. Weighted least mean square method helps extracting the Peak-trace more precisely. After getting the direction of the motion blur, we can find the length of the motion blur based on one dimensional Cepstrum. In the experiment, we could efficiently restore the degraded image using the information obtained by the proposed algorithm.

The MUSIC (MUltiple SIgnal Classification) method estimates the directions of arrival (DOAs) of the signals impinging on a sensor array based on the fact that the noise subspace is orthogonal to the signal subspace. In the conventional MUSIC, an estimate of the basis for the noise subspace is obtained by eigendecomposing the sample matrix, which is computationally expensive. In this paper, we present a simple DOA estimation method which finds an estimate of the signal subspace basis directly from the columns of the sample matrix from which the noise power components are removed. DOA estimates are obtained by searching for minimum points of a cost function which is defined using the estimated signal subspace basis. The minimum points are efficiently found through the Brent method which employs parabolic interpolation. Simulation shows that the simple estimation method virtually has the same performance as the complex conventional method based on the eigendecomposition.
In this paper, an algorithm to calculate both bearing and distance error for target detection and localization is proposed using the Cramer Rao lower bound to estimate the minium variance of their error in DOA (Direction Of Arrival) estimation. The performance of arrays in detection and localization depends on the accuracy of DOA, which is affected by a variation of SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio). The SNR is determined by sonar parameters such as a SL (Source Level), TL (Transmission Loss), NL (Noise Level), array shape and beam steering angle. For verification of the suggested method, a Monte Carlo simulation was performed to probabilistically calculate the bearing and distance error according to the SNR which varies with the relative position of the target in space and noise level.
A sudden pressure drop caused by the pressure relief valve acts as a strong noise source and propagates the compressible pressure fluctuation along the pipe wall, which becomes a excitation source of Acoustic Induced Vibration (AIV). Therefore, in this study, the numerical methodology is developed to evaluate the reduction effect of compressible pressure fluctuation due to curved pipe in the pressure relief valve system. To describe the acoustic wave caused by density fluctuation, unsteady compressible Large Eddy Simulation (LES) technique, which is high accuracy numerical method, Smagorinsky-Lilly subgrid scale model is applied. Wavenumber-frequency analysis is performed to extract the compressible pressure fluctuation component, which is propagated along the pipe, from the flow field, and it is based on the wall pressure on the upstream and downstream pipe from the curved pipe. It is shown that the plane wave and the 1st mode component in radial direction are dominant along the downstream direction, and the overall acoustic power was reduced by 3 dB through the curved pipe. From these results, the noise reduction effect caused by curved pipe is confirmed.

Scattered look-ahead pipelining method can be efficiently used for high sample rate or low-power applications of digital recursive filters. Although the pipelined filters are guaranteed to be stable by this method, these filters suffer from large round off noise when the poles are crowed within some critical regions. To avoid this problem, a low-noise implementation technique was proposed using constrained Remez exchange algorithm. By the constrained filter design approach, the desired filter spectrum is satisfied while some of the pole angles are constrained to avoid pole crowding within critical regions. In the proposed approach, to obtain improved spectrum characteristics or better round off noise properties, the radius of the angle-constrained pole is optimized depending on the direction of the pole movement.

In array signal processing, high order statistics can be used to estimate parameters from signal of sums of complex exponential. In this paper, we derive two types of direction finding algorithms which use the fourth-order cumulant and moment of the received array data. Since the fourth order cumulant can suppress the Gaussian noise, the response of MPM has better noise immunity than the conventional approaches. The performance of each method in regard to the probability of resolution and SNR in the presence of the Gaussian noise is investigated. As a result, the proposed method applied to the fourth-order statistic can find DOA more correctly in the presence of the Gaussian noise.
