  • In Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN), the sensor nodes are required to consume their energy evenly to prolong the lifetime of the entire sensor network because of the limited energy of the sensor node. AODV which is applied to USN as routing protocol selects route according to only the shortest distance of the minimum hop count but regardless of the remaining battery power for each node. Thus it comes to ill-balanced power consumption seriously. In this paper, a scheme that controls packet relay quantity of each sensor node adaptively to prevent traffic overhead at a certain node and to increase the entire network lifetime is proposed. As it is analyzed by simulations, the proposed scheme enhances USN lifetime by balancing each sensor node's packet relay quantity.

  • Wireless sensor networks that are easy to deploy and install are ideal for building a system that monitors the condition of the equipment in a factory environment where wiring is difficult. The ZigBee has characteristics of low price and low power compared with other wireless communication protocols and is suitable for a monitoring system requiring a plurality of nodes. ZigBee communication requires encryption security between devices because all protocol layers are based on OTM trusted by each other. In the communication between nodes, node authentication must be guaranteed and exposure of confidential information managed by each node should be minimized. The facilities of the factory are regular and stationary in distribution location. In order to protect the information gathered from the sensor in the factory environment and the actuator control information connected to the sensor node, we propose a cryptosystem based on the two - dimensional grid - based key distribution method similar to the distribution environment of the facility.

  • An indoor positioning system using Wi-Fi is essential to produce a radio map that combines the indoor space of two or more dimensions, the information of node positions, and etc. in processing for constructing the radio map, the measurement of the received signal strength indicator(RSSI) and the confirmation of node placement information counsume substantial time. Especially, when the installed wireless environment is changed or a new space is created, easy installation of the node and fast indoor radio mapping are needed to provide indoor location-based services. In this paper, to reduce the time consumption, we propose an algorithm to distinguish the straight and curve lines of a corridor section by RSSI visualization and Sobel filter-based edge detection that enable accurate node deployment and space analysis using cable-type Wi-Fi node installed at a 3 m interval. Because the cable type Wi-Fi is connected by a same power line, it has an advantage that the installation order of nodes at regular intervals could be confirmed accurately. To be able to analyze specific sections in space based on this advantage, the distribution of the signal was confirmed and analyzed by Sobel filter based edge detection and total RSSI distribution(TRD) computation through a visualization process based on the measured RSSI. As a result to compare the raw data with the performance of the proposed algorithm, the signal intensity of proposed algorithm is improved by 13.73 % in the curve section. Besides, the characteristics of the straight and the curve line were enhanced as the signal intensity of the straight line decreased by an average of 34.16 %.

  • Mechanical strength of functionally graded composite plates that composed of ceramic, functionally graded material and metal layers is investigated using 3-D finite element method. In FGM layer, material properties are assumed to be varied continuously in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fraction of a ceramic and metal. The 3-D finite element model is adopted by using an IS-node solid element to analyze more accurately the variation of material properties in the thickness direction. Numerical results are compared with those of the previous works. In addition, the displacements, the tensile stresses and the compressive stresses are analyzed for the variation of FGM thickness ratio and volume fraction distribution.Mechanical strength of functionally graded composite plates that composed of ceramic, functionally graded material and metal layers is investigated using 3-D finite element method. • Abstract This paper presents a heuristic method for optimal design of water distribution system with multiple sources and potential links. In multiple source pipe network, supply rate at each source node affects the total cost of the system because supply rates are not uniquely determined. The Linear Minimum Cost Flow (LMCF) model may be used to a large scale pipe network with multiple sources to determine supply rate at each source node. In this study the heuristic method based on the LMCF is suggested to determine supply rate at each source node and then to optimize the given layout. The heuristic method in turn perturbs links in the longest path of the network to obtain the supply rates which make the optimal design of the pipe network. Once the best tree network is obtained, the frequency count of reconnecting links by considering link failure is in turn applied to form loop to enhance the reliability of the best tree network. A sample pipe network is employed to test the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method can yield a lower cost design than the LMCF alone and that the proposed method can be efficiently used to design irrigation systems or rural water distribution systems.

  • The most challenging issues in the multi-channel MAC of the IEEE 1609.4 standard is how to handle the dynamic vehicular traffic condition with a high mobility, dynamic topology, and a trajectory change. Therefore, dynamic channel coordination schemes between CCH and SCH are required to provide the proper bandwidth for CCH/SCH intervals and to improve the quality of service (QoS). In this paper, we use a Markov model to optimize the interval based on the dynamic vehicular traffic condition with high mobility nodes in the multi-channel MAC of the IEEE 1609.4 standard. We evaluate the performance of the three-dimensional Markov chain based on the Poisson distribution for the node distribution and velocity. We also evaluate the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) effect for the multi-channel MAC coordination scheme of the IEEE 1609.4 standard. The result of simulation proves that the performance of the dynamic channel coordination scheme is affected by the high node mobility and the AWGN. In this research, we evaluate the model analytically for the average delay on CCHs and SCHs and also the saturated throughput on SCHs.

  • Mobile Ad hoc Networks(MANET) is consist of node that has mobility, MANET build cluster formation for using energy efficient. In existing LEACH algorithm elect cluster head node in coverage area by distribution function. However, when the cluster head node, that elected by distribution function, is divided coverage area unevenly, the network can't consumption energy efficiency. To solve this problem, we proposed CSWC(Coverage Scheduling Weight-value Control) algorithm. When the coverage area is divided nonchalance, proposed algorithm increased number of hops, that determines coverage area, for balance coverage area. As the result proposed algorithm is set balance coverage area, the network consumption energy efficiency.

  • In this note we find the exact Probability distribution of d$\_$n, i/ the outdegree of the node i, in a random recursive tree with n nodes. For i = i$\_$n/ increasing as a linear function on n, we show that d$\_$n/,i$\_$n/ is asymptotically normal.

  • This paper presents an application of parallel Genetic Algorithm-Tabu Search(GA-TS) algorithm to search an optimal solution of a reconfiguration in distribution system. The aim of the reconfiguration of distribution systems is to determine switch position to be opened for loss minimization in the radial distribution systems, which is a discrete optimization problem. This problem has many constraints and very difficult to solve the optimal switch position because it has many local minima. This paper develops parallel GA-TS algorithm for reconfiguration of distribution systems. In parallel GA-TS, GA operators are executed for each processor. To prevent solution of low fitness from appearing in the next generation, strings below the average fitness are saved in the tabu list. If best fitness of the GA is not changed for several generations, TS operators are executed for the upper 10% of the population to enhance the local searching capabilities. With migration operation, best string of each node is transferred to the neighboring node aster predetermined iterations are executed. For parallel computing, we developed a PC-cluster system consisting of 8 PCs. Each PC employs the 2 GHz Pentium Ⅳ CPU and is connected with others through ethernet switch based fast ethernet. To show the usefulness of the proposed method, developed algorithm has been tested and compared on a distribution systems in the reference paper. From the simulation results, we can find that the proposed algorithm is efficient and robust for the reconfiguration of distribution system in terms of the solution qualify. speedup. efficiency and computation time.
