Insulation Aging Characteristic Assessment on the Power cables with the Comparative Analysis Between Destructive and Nondestructive Diagnosis (파괴 및 비파괴진단 비교분석을 통한 케이블 열화특성평가)

  • The insulation aging characteristics and structural analysis test were performed to analyze the correlations among the insulation deterioration, diagnostic results and the breakdown strength for the underground power cables. From the results of the degree of crosslinking test, hot-oil test etc., it could be confirmed that there were no manufacturing defects in the power cables under test. From the results of the water tree test and chemical structural analysis, it could be confirmed that the aging status of cable under test were very poor, especially for B-Phase and the degree of aging was increased in the orders of A, C and B-phase. From the above results, it could be concluded that the insulation aging characteristic analysis results were well consistent with the diagnostic and breakdown test results, and also confirmed that the diagnostic system under consideration was successful to discriminate the bad cables which is likely to cause cable system failure.

  • The modular construction method is an off-site construction method using built-in structures from the manufacturing facilities. Modular construction is commonly applied to buildings which have relatively smaller and simpler structures than other types of buildings. Although modular building has emerged in the domestic construction industry as an alternative building strategy, previous researches on the environmental characteristics of modular building has not been comprehensively studied. Thus, this study empirically analyzed the insulation performance of thermal bridge and condensation parts of the modular buildings by using IR image analysis, Air-Surface Temperature Ratio method, and temperature difference ratio. The insulation performance analysis was conducted by comparing a modular building and a RC building in Seoul.   • Consumer and property evaluation of wetsuit materials were conducted to obtain useful data for developing competitive products that meet consumer expectations and improving industrial competitiveness. Data were collected through online surveys of 213 domestic consumers who have experienced wearing wetsuit among marine leisure activities. Five types of commercial wet suit materials by brand and four types of commercial wet suit materials with the same quality by thickness were collected. Then, their physical properties, salt water resistance and thermal insulation rate were evaluated and compared. As a result, the most commonly used wetsuit material is 3 to 5 mm thick, and the basic jersey material is bonded on both sides. As a processing for imparting functionality, processing for improving warmth and reducing surface resistance are most frequently used. Consumers often feel uncomfortable when wearing a wetsuit, such as wearing comfort, weight, ease of movement, stretchability, and clothing pressure, which are different from those of casual wear. Also, mechanical strength and warmth were considered to be the most important criteria for selection of wetsuit material for purchase or rental. The mechanical properties of brand A and B were better than those of brand C, D, and E. Resilience and thermal shrinkage were better in brand C, D, and E. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the physical properties due to the difference in thickness of the material at the same quality. Also, it was found that the thicker the material, the more stable it is in the heat. Brand A and B had superior salt water resistance than brand C, D, and E. In the thermal insulation test, brand A and B showed better insulation characteristics than brand C, D, and E, but the types of bonded fabric and surface finishing of materials were thought to have affected. In comparison of the thickness, the thicker the materials, the better the salt resistance and the thermal insulation.

Review on the Effectiveness of Apartments According to Insulation Reinforcement of Energy Saving Design Standard - Energy Cost Analysis of Space Heating and Domestic Hot Water - (에너지절약설계기준의 단열 변화에 따른 공동주택 실효성 검토 - 난방 및 급탕에너지 사용금액 분석 -)

  • In this study, we analyzed space heating and domestic hot water(DHW) charges from 2017 to 2018 for 151,206 households in 202 apartment complexes built from 1997 to 2016, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of Korea's insulation standards reinforcement. The applied insulation standards were revised three times(in 1987, 2001 and 2010). We used the Anderson-Darling test to review the normality of the space heating and DHW charges. As a result, each p-value was greater than 0.05 and it followed the normal distribution. The annual average space heating charges per unit area of apartments with the 1987 insulation standards were 5,237₩/㎡a in 2017 and 5,328₩/㎡a in 2018. The heating charges with the 2001 standards were 4,827₩/㎡a in 2017 and 4,817₩/㎡a in 2018. Compared to previous standards(1987 standards), heating charges decreased by 7.8% and 9.6%. Also the heating charges with the 2010 standards were 3,683₩/㎡a in 2017 and 3,734₩/㎡a in 2018. Compared to previous standards(2001 standards), heating charges decreased by 24.3% and 21.5%. On the other hand, compared to each previous standards, DHW charges were decreased by 12.2%, 13.6% or increased by 4.6%, 6.9%, which means there's no correlation between insulation standards reinforcement and DHW charges.

  • Efforts have been made in this paper to develop the measuring device for the insulation performance of full scale NO96 LNG CCS. The facility was designed to maintain environmental conditions which are similar to operation conditions of full scale LNG CCS. In the facility, the heat sink boundary was kept cryogenic temperature by cold chamber which contains liquefied nitrogen and heat source boundary was made by external case heated by natural convection. Heat Flow Meter method (HFM) was applied to this facility, hence Heat Flux Sensors (HFS) were attached to specimen. The equivalent thermal conductivity of full scale NO96 unit box was targeted to measure and PUF of same size was used for the calibration test. Additionally, the finite element analysis was carried out to check the performance of the developed test facility and experimental results were also compared with those predicted by the numerical method.

  • The phenomenon of water tree degradation of underground distribution power cables is taking place in polymeric insulation materials under the existence of water and application of electric stress, but water tree is not easy to observe, o water tree features in power cables are shown after cutting and dying with methyleneblue. In previous method, it is impossible to acquire continuous treeing data, and when the insulation material has been cut, the micro crack(water tree) has been damaged. In this paper, to overcome these deflects, the etching method is made use of making needle electrode about 170[${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$] diameter, and AgNO$_3$(silver nitrate) solution is used as liquid electrode to accelerate the growth of water trees. As a result of this study, water tree is observed in real-time with microscope. Electrical tree owing to water treeing is initiated at low electric field and grown with discontinuous. Namely, water tree is shown up a different characteristics of tree growth.

Analysis of On-Line Partial Discharge Patterns in High Voltage Motor Stator Windings (고압전동기 고정자 권선의 운전중 부분방전 패턴 분석)

  • During normal machine operation, partial discharge(PD) measurements were performed with turbine generator analyzer(TGA) in two high voltage motors. Two 6.6kV motors were installed with 80pF capacitive couplers at the terminal box. The PD patterns were displayed two dimensional and three dimensional. TGA summarizes each plot with two quantifies such as the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the peak PD magnitude(Qm). Off-line PD measurements were conducted on one 4.16kV motor. The motor was energized to 2.4kV, 3.0kV, 3.5kV and 4.16kV, respectively. The PD levels in pC were measured with a conventional digital PD detector. The comparison of positive to negative PD indicates whether the defect elements of PD are within the insulation or on the insulation surface. Discharge at conductor surface was discovered in No. 1 motor. Internal discharges were generated in phase A, B and C of No. 2 motor, Slot discharges occurred in three phases of No. 3 motor.

A PDPWM Based DC Capacitor Voltage Control Method for Modular Multilevel Converters

  • This paper presents a control scheme with a focus on the combination of phase disposition pulse width modulation (PDPWM) and DC capacitor voltage control for a chopper-cell based modular multilevel converter (MMC) for the purpose of eliminating the time-consuming voltage sorting algorithm and complex voltage balancing regulators. In this paper, the convergence of the DC capacitor voltages within one arm is realized by charging the minimum voltage module and discharging the maximum voltage module during each switching cycle with the assistances of MAX/MIN capacitor voltage detection and PDPWM signals exchanging. The process of voltage balancing control introduces no extra switching commutation, which is helpful in reducing power loss and improving system efficiency. Additionally, the proposed control scheme also possess the merit of a simple executing procedure in application. Simulation and experimental results indicates that the MMC circuit together with the proposed method functions very well in balancing the DC capacitor voltage and improving system efficiency even under transient states.

  • This paper describes the sound insulation and structural safety of the shelter which may be used for shooters. The noise level of the shelter should be less than 100 dB on the basis of the Industrial Safety and Act, the World Health Organization and the MIL-STD. The sound insulation design was designed for the shelter structure. The designed shelter performance was verified by the real measurement after completing the construction of the shelter. The system was also designed using the finite element method with data of sound pressure measured in the test. Its response was obtained numerically. It is proved that the shelter structure is sufficiently safe considering the calculated maximum stress level with the allowable stress of structural property.

  • The most compact and convenient pulse tube cryocooler for practical applications is the coaxial type. It can replace Stirling cryocooler without any change to the Dewar or the connection to the cooled devices. The experimental results of the coaxial inertance tube pulse tube cryocooler for cooling superconductor RF filter are presented in this paper. To find optimal conditions of inertance tube pulse tube cryocooler, no load temperature according to the variations of inertance tube volume, reservoir volume are measured, and the cool down characteristics at the particular conditions are presented. In case of the coaxial type inertance tube pulse tube refrigerator, cool down time is the lowest in the inertance tube diameter of 1.3 mm and inertance tube length of 1900 mm and lowest temperature is 112K. This results are not satisfactory for practical applications. So, We propose vacuum insulation between regenerator and pulse tube in the Stirling type coaxial pulse tube cryocooler. Stirling type coaxial pulse tube cryocooler with the vacuum insulation between regenerator and pulse tube was designed and manufactured by KIMM(Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials). The optimal conditions will be tested for Stirling type coaxial pulse tube cryocooler with the vacuum insulation between regenerator and pulse tube.
