Air is essential for human beings to survive, but urban air is polluted with soot and harmful gases, due to the increase in industrial development and the population. Thus, air pollution in large cities is of increasing interest in the research community. One of the plausible solutions to this problem is supplying sufficient oxygen to indoor spaces. The main principle of the oxygen generator is to separate oxygen from air using synthetic zeolite. Various synthetic zeolites have been applied to public indoor spaces with the focus being placed on the oxygen exchange quality. Among the characteristics of zeolites which can be applied to oxygen generators is their ability to adsorb nitrogen from the air and, in this way, generate only oxygen. Thus, we investigated the degree of nitrogen adsorption by five kinds of natural zeolite and LTA zeolite 3A, 4A, and 5A (two different sizes). Using the PSA method, the higher the degree of nitrogen adsorption, the higher the oxygen saturation concentration, it was found that the nitrogen adsorption degree of the 5A zeolite was the highest. 6% on average. It was also found that the size of the zeolite had a significant effect on the degree of nitrogen adsorption.

Boiling heat transfer characteristics of liquid nitrogen in a stainless steel plain tube and wire coil inserted tubes were investigated. The test tubes, which had an inner diameter of 10.6 m and a length of 1.65 m, were horizontally located. Five wire coils having different pitch and thickness were inserted into the plain tube. The pitches of the wire coils were 18.4, 27.6, and 36.8 m, and the thickness was 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 mm respectively. Tests were conducted at a saturation temperature of $-191^{\circ}$, mass fluxes from 58 to 105 kg/$m^2s$, and heat fluxes from 22.5 to 32.7 kw/$m^2$. A direct heating method was used to apply heat to the test section. The boiling heat transfer coefficients of liquid nitrogen were represented as a function of vapor quality, which showed significant drop at the dryout vapor quality. The maximum heat transfer enhancement using the wire coil inserted tubes over the plain tube was $174\%$ for 'Wire 3' having a thickness of 2.5 mm and a pitch of 18.4 mm.
A pot experiment was carried out to find out the effects of the sludge application on corn and Chinese cabbage growth and changes in soil chemical properties with sludges collected from 4 plants at 0, 12.5, 25, 50, and $100Mg\;ha^{-1}$ levels and chemical fertilizer. With the corn experiment, the pot where sludge and chemical fertilizers were treated together, greater amount of sludge resulted in initial growth inhibition. In general, higher sludge treatment rates resulted in better growth in the end, whereas initial growth was inhibited due to high the electrical conductivity of saturated extracts(ECe) for the Chinese cabbage. However, the highest yield among sludge treatments was lower than the yield with chemical fertilizers. While the treatments resulted in chemical changes in soil showing differences of cation exchange capacity, organic matter contents, and nitrogen contents, hardly any changes were detected before and after crops were grown. Inorganic nutrients such as Na, K, Ca and Mg showed similar changes. The ECe in soil saturation extract decreased after crops were grown. The more sludge was treated, the greater was the decrease. The differences of ECe in the soil saturation extract with varying degrees of treatment were also reduced after crops were grown. Available phosphorus content increased during growth. Due to the low nitrogen content in sludge, when nitrogen becomes the determining factor for the amount of sludge treatment, phosphorus buildup resulted from continued application of sludge could be raised. Therefore, it is advisable to use phosphorus, not nitrogen content, in determining the amount of sludge treatment and chemical fertilizer as supplementary sources for nitrogen.
Carbon nitride films were deposited on various substrates for humidity sensors with meshed electrode by reactive RF magnetron sputtering system. As the ratio of injected nitrogen was decreased, the sensitivity of sensor was increased. When the ratio of injected nitrogen was $50{\sim}70%$, the sample showed the best linearity. The sensor impedance changed from $95.4{\;}k{\Omega}$ to $2.1{\;}k{\Omega}$ in a relative humidity range of 5 % to 95 %. The humidity sensors based on silicon wafer revealed higher lineality and faster response than those of alumina or quartz substrates. The adsorption saturation time of the sample was about 80 sec, and its desorption time was about 90 sec.
An experiment was performed to study the evaporation heat transfer and the pressure drop characteristics of liquid nitrogen in a horizontal stainless steel tube with wire coil inserts. The inner diameter of test tube is 4.3mm and the length is 1.5m. Four wire coils having different pitch and thickness were inserted into the plain test tube. The wire coil length is 1.5m and the diameter is 3.65mm with thickness of 0.5mm and 0.9mm. Experiments were conducted at saturation temperature of $-191^{\circ}C$ mass flux from 200 to 370 $kg/m^{2}s$ and heat flux of 62 $kW/m^{2}$. Direct heating method was used to apply heat to the test section. Boiling heat transfer coefficients of both the plain and the enhanced tubes were calculated. Pressure drops between inlet and outlet side of test section were also measured, and they are used to estimate EPR(Enhancement Performance Ratio).
As unialgal cultures to examine the growth kinetics of an algal species, Microcystis aeruginosa was grown in chemostats with nitrogen and phosphorus limitation. The nutrient concentrations of $NH_4\;^+\;and\;PO_4\;^{3-}$ to limit the growth of M, aeruginosa were approximately 200 ${\mu}M$ and 7 ${\mu}M$, respectively. Cell size of the algae decreased towards the $NH_4$-nitrogen limitation under a constant dilution rate, while it increased in the $PO_4$-limitaion. The cell quota of nitrogen under nitrogen-limited conditions was 6.1 ${\mu}mol$ mg $C^{-1}$ and, under nitrogen sufficient conditions, ranged from 9.5 ${\mu}mol$ mg $C^{-1}$ to 12.4 ${\mu}mol$ mg $C^{-1}$. In addition to the cell quota, the half-saturation constants for nitrogen uptake ($K_s$) and the growth rate (${\mu}_m$) was 36 ${\sim}$ 61 ${\mu}M$ and 0.28 ${\sim}$ 0.35 ${\mu}mol$ cell ${\cdot}$$hr^{-1}$ to show high values in comparison with other algal species. As the limiting concentration, cell quota and uptake rate of M. aeruginosa were higher than those of any other species, the its nitrogen requirement would be great. In the other side, as the half saturation constant ($K_s$) for nitrogen uptake was higher, and the ratios ofmaximum uptake rate ($V_m$) and $K_s$ was relatively low, the species would have the low competitive ability in the low nitrogen concentration in the ambient water. However, the low concentration of nitrogen in the Nakdong River during the Microcystis outbreak would be the inevitable results of the algal blooms. In the lower Parts of the Nakdong River, the nutrient status was coupled with the growth kinetics of the blooming algae to have clear seasonal variations through a year.
This study aims to present the practical Nitrogen monoxide (NO) removal capacity of cement mortar with Titanium dioxide ($TiO_2$) which is one of the paving materials by considering the environment of pavement in urban areas. NO removal capacity test under designated conditions of humidity of inflow gas and the test with variation of the degree of saturation of specimen were conducted. In the test for humidity, dry specimen is subject to the test and NO removal ratio was observed. Humidity-NO removal ratio curve is a log normal distribution in shape, and the maximum NO removal ratio appears at specific humidity. NO removal capacity test relying on the degree of saturation was carried out with wet specimen to reflect the unsaturated pavement by rainfall and domestic sewage. Wet specimen presents less NO removal capacity than dry specimen and the recovering evolution of NO removal capacity follows evaporation. Moreover, $TiO_2$ under the specific depth of specimen hardly contributes to NO removal capacity.

In this study, we investigated the effects of dissolved inorganic and organic nutrient on the growth of dinoflagellate Alexandrium affine (LIMS-PS-2345). The maximum uptake rates (ρmax) and half saturation constants (Ks) calculated from the uptake kinetics experiment were 77.0 pmol/cell/hr, 17.6 μM for nitrate and 15.5 pmol/cell/hr, 3.88 μM for phosphate, respectively. These results suggested that this species has high inorganic nutrient demand and a low affinity for inorganic nutrients. During the utilization of organic nutrients for A. affine, growth rates of experimental groups added by organic nitrogen (urea and glycine) and phosphorus (adenosine triphosphate and glycerol phosphate) were above 70 %, compared to the experimental groups added by inorganic nutrients. Thus, A. affine may need to utilize organic nutrients to understand the dominant strategy and advantageous position in the interspecific competition within low inorganic nutrient environments.
In this study, change in water-dissolved oxygen (DO) was analyzed under various synthetic water qualities and nanobubbles (NBs) application conditions, such as gas type, initial DO as well as water dissolved, suspended and organic matters contents. When oxygen, rather than air, was introduced into nitrogen-desorbed ultra-pure water, the stagnation time was significantly increased. It took ten days for DO concentration to drop back to saturation. The higher the initial DO concentration, the longer particles were observed above saturation due to particle stability improvement. The oxygen mass transfer rate of 0.0482 mg/L/min was found to reach a maximum at an electrolytic concentration of 0.75 g/L, beyond which the transfer rate decreased due to adsorption of negative ions of the electrolyte at the interface. High levels of turbidity caused by suspended solids have become a barrier to dissolution of NBs oxygen into the water solution, and thus affected the transfer performance. On the other hand, by applying NBs for just an hour, up to 7.2% degradation of glucose as representative organic matter was achieved. Thus, NBs technology would maintain a high DO extent for an extended duration, and thus can improve water quality provided that water chemistry is closely monitored during its application.
