Nanosize NiO powder was prepared by mixing acidic nickel nitrate with basic nickel carbonate. The particle size and morphology of NiO were mainly governed by the mole ratio of the nitrate to the carbonate. The effects were studied by DSC, XRD, FTIR, and SEM. Heat treatment conditions influence the particle size distribution of produced NiO powder extensively for the case of 3N7C (3 moles of the nitrate and 7 moles of the carbonate) and 4N6C, but only slightly for 1N9C and 2N8C. Uniform pseudospherical NiO particles were obtained in $50{\sim}70$ nm for 1N9C and $30{\sim}60$ nm for 2N8C by calcination at $750{^{\circ}C}$ for 2 h.
The new process in order to fabricate of Ni catalyst with high activity by the mechanochemical(MC) method which was combined the mechanical alloying(MA) and the chemical treatment process. The microstructure and characterization of mechanically alloyed Ni-5-wt% Al powder and Ni catalyst gained by alkali leaching were investigated byt he various analysis such as XRD, SEM-EDS, HRTEM and laser particle analyzer. The steady state powder with 1~2$\mu\textrm{m}$ mean particle size was obtained after 30hr milling with the PCA of 2 wt% stearic acid under the condition of grinding stainless steel ball to powder ratio of 60:1 and rotating speed fo 300rpm. According to result of HRTEM diffraction pattern, MA powder of the steady state was nanocrystalline $Al_3$$Ni_2$ intermetallic compound. Ni catalyst was obtained after KOH leaching of the steady state powder was about 20nm nanocrystalline which contained about 8 wt % Al.
The strengthening of a metal matrix composite(MMC) by the shape memory effect(SME) of dispersed TiNi particles was theoretically studied. An analytical model was constructed for the prediction of the average residual stress(<$\delta$>m) on the base of the Eshelby's equivalent inclusion method. The analysis was performed on the TiNi particle/Al metal matrix composites with varying volume fractions and prestrains of the particle. The residual stress caused by the shape memory of predeformed fillers has been predicted to contribute significantly to the strengthening of this composite.

The study was performed under the various conditions, such as the edible parts and particle sizes of Allium. The concentrations, the temperartures, and the pH of heavy metal solutions to investigated their adsorption capacity of heavy metals by genus Allium. The adsorption amount of Pb by Allium in the aqueous soluton was apparently higher than that of Ni and Cu by them. The larger the particle sloe of welsh onion and shallot was, the higher the adsorption of Cu was. The adsorptlons of Cu, Ni and sorption ratio was not different. As the temperature increased, the amount of heavy metal adsorption increased in general, but the adsorption of Ni by welsh onion and wild garlic and leek, Cu by shallot, wild garlic and leek decreased. Adsorption of Pb to Allium was not affected by the different values of pH, and adsorptions of Ni and Cu were greatly affected by those of pH. Especially, the higher the pH was, the greater the Ni adsorption to Allium was, and the lower the pH was, the higher the Cu adsorption was. The correlation between the amount of components in edible parts of Allium and that of adsorption of heavy metals was significantly high In amino acids containing sulfhydryl group(-SH) and vitamin B2.
The effect of extrusion temperature on the microstructure and mechanical properties were studied in He-gas atomized $Al_{81-(x+y)}Si_{19}Ni_xCe_y$ alloy powders and their extruded bars using SEM, tensile testing and thermal expansion testing. The extruded bar of $Al_{73}Si_{19}Ni_7Ce_1$ alloy consists of a mixed structure in which fine Si particles with a particle size below 20∼500nm and very fine $Al_3Ni,\;Al_3Ce$ compounds with a particle size below 200nm are homogeneously dispersed in Al martix with a grain size below 500nm. With increasing extrusion temperature, the microstructural scale was decreased. The ultimate tensile strength of the alloy bars has incresed with decreasing extrusion temperature from 500 to 35$0^{\circ}C$ and $Al_{73}Si_{19}Ni_7Ce_1$ alloy extreded at 35$0^{\circ}C$ shows a highest tensile strength of 810 MPa due to the fine namostructure. The addition of Ni and Ce decreased the coefficients of thermal expansion and the effects of extression temperature on the thermal expansion were not significant.
In this study, the 95W heavy alloys of 3/7, 5/5 and 7/3 of Ni/Fe ratio were sintered at the temperature range between 1420 and $1480^{\circ}C$ for 1h and their microstructures were discussed for an effect of the ${\mu}$-phase $(Fe_7W_6)$ on the microstructure. The ${\mu}$-phase was observed in the only 95W-1.5Ni-3.5Fe alloy of 3/7 and it is thought to be formed and grown from the surface of the W particle. The W particle was surrounded with the ${\mu}$-phase and there were only the W particles and this phase without Ni-Fe-W matrix at the most part. The ${\mu}$-phase changed the interphase structure in the alloy and the grain growth of the W was suppressed because of interrupting the solution-reprecipitation of the W. The W content in the matrix was considered to be lowered due to the interruption of the solution-reprecipitation and the formation of the ${\mu}$-phase in the .
$LiNi_{1/3}Co_{1/3}Mn_{1/3}O_2$ cathode materials prepared from different precursors in lithium rechargeable batteries were characterized by various analytical methods. $LiNi_{1/3}Co_{1/3}Mn_{1/3}O_2$ powders were synthesized by using solid-state reaction method and their physical and chemical properties were analyzed by XRD, SEM, particle size analyzer and TCP-AES. These materials showed different crystallinity, particle size, surface morphology and chemical composition. Also, the charge/discharge cycling of $LiNi_{1/3}Co_{1/3}Mn_{1/3}O_2$ electrodes was carried out under various cut-off voltages and it showed different behaviors. It was found that the electrochemical cyclability of $LiNi_{1/3}Co_{1/3}Mn_{1/3}O_2$ was strongly related to its crystallinity.
Purpose: The selective laser melting (SLM) process for dentistry, which is one of the additive manufacturing technologies (AM) allows for rapid production of a three-dimensional model with complex shape by directly melting metal powder. This process generates detailed items of a three-dimensional model shape through consolidation of a thin powder layer by utilizing both selective melting and laser beam simultaneously. In regard to SLM process, Fe-base powder, Ti-6AI-4V powder, AI-base powder, etc. have been researched. It is believed that the aforementioned technologies will be widely utilized in manufacturing metal parts using metal powder of raw material. This study chose Ni-Cr-Mo metal powder in order to manufacture metal powder materials that would be used in the selective laser melting for dentistry. Methods: This study manufactured metal powder using mechanical alloying technique (MA) among those metal powder manufacturing techniques. Moreover, this study aimed to utilize the metal powder manufactured after observing the characteristics of powder as preliminary data of Ni-Cr-Mo metal powder. This study could obtain the following conclusions within the experimental limitations. Results: As a result of mechanically alloying Ni-Cr-Mo powder over time, its mean particle size was $66.93{\mu}m$$54.4{\mu}m$ and $45.39{\mu}m$ at 10h, 20h and 30h, respectively. The gtain form of metal powder by mechanical alloying technique was a sponge-like shape of irregular plate; however, the gtain form manufactured by high-pressure water aromization process had the following three types: globular type, chain type and oval type. Conclusion: This study found $37.65{\mu}m$ as the mean particle size of Ni-Cr-Mo metal powder, which was manufactured using water atomization technique under the following conditions: water atomization flux of 300 liter/min, hydraulic pressure of $400kgf/cm^2$ and injection angle of $45^{\circ}$. This study confirmed that the grain form of powder (solid particle form) would vary depending on the manufacturing process.

Nickel substituted nano-sized ferrite powders, $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$, $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ($0.0{\leq}x{\leq}0.2$), were fabricated using a sol-gel method, and their crystallographic and magnetic properties were subsequently compared. The lattice constants decreased as quantity of nickel substitution increased, while the particle size decreased in $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite but increased for the $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ferrites. For the $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ($0.0{\leq}x{\leq}0.2$) ferrite powders, the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra could be fitted as the superposition of two Zeeman sextets due to the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the $Fe^{3+}$ ions. However, the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectrum of $Mn_{0.8}Zn_{0.1}Ni_{0.1}Fe_2O_4$ consisted of two Zeeman sextets and one single quadrupole doublet due to the ferrimagnetic and paramagnetic behavior. The area ratio of the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectra could be used to determine the cation distribution equation, and we also explain the variation in the $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ parameters by using this cation distribution equation, the superexchange interaction and the particle size. The saturation magnetization decreased in the $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ferrites but increased in the $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite with nickel substitution. The coercivity decreased in the $Co_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ and $Mn_{1-2x}Zn_xNi_xFe_2O_4$ ferrites but increased in the $Mn_{1-x}Ni_xFe_2O_4$ ferrite with nickel substitution. These variations could thus be explained by using the site distribution equations, particle sizes and spin magnetic moments of the substituted ions.
