Multi-regional water supply system, which installed for supplying multiple water demands, is characterized by large-sized, long-distance, tree-type layout. This system is vulnerable to long-standing service interruption when a pipe breaks is occurred. In this study, a numerical method is proposed to calculate drainage time that directly affects time of service interruption. To begin with, governing equations are formulated to embed the delayed drainage effect by the friction loss, and to resolve complicated connection of pipelines, which are derived from the continuity and energy equations. The nonlinear hydraulic equations are solved by using explicit time integration method and the Newton-Raphson method. The developed model is verified by comparing the result with analytical solution. Furthermore, the model's applicability is validated by the examples of pipelines in serial, in parallel, and complex layout. Finally, the model is utilized to suggest an appropriate actions to reduce the deviation of draining time in the C transmission line of the B multi-regional water supply system.

The boundary estimation problem is used to estimate the shape of organic depend on the phase of the cardiac cycle or interested in the detection of the location and size of anomalies with resistivity values different from the background tissues such as nuclear reactor. And we can use the method to solve the optimal solution such as modified Newton raphson, kalman filter, extended kalman filter, etc. But, this method consumes much time and is sensitive to the initial value and noise in the estimation of the unknown shape. In the paper, we propose that multi-layer neural networks estimate the boundary of the unknown object using Fourier coefficient. This method can be used at the real time estimation and have strong characteristics at the noise and initial value. It uses voltage change; difference the homogeneous voltage to the non-homogeneous voltage, and change of Fourier coefficient change to train multi-layer neural network. After train, we can have real time estimation using this method.
To detect motions of bodies, we have discussed them with two viewpoints; one is a detection algorithm, and another is the hardware implementation. The former is to find small terms expansions for sine/cosine functions. We researched Maclaurin and optimum expansions, and moreover to reduce hardware amounts, revised the expansions. The expansions don't include divide calculations, and the error is within 0.01%. As for the former problem, there is another approach also; that is the cordic method. The method is based on the rotation of a vector on the complex plain. It is simple iterations and don't require large logic. We examined the precision and convergence of the method on C-simulations, and implemented on HDL. The later problem is to make FPGA within small gates. We considered approaches to eliminate a divider and to reduce the bit number of arithmetic. We researched Newton-Raphson's method to get reciprocal numbers. The higher-order expression shows rapid convergence and doesn't be affected by the initial guess. It is an excellent algorithm. Using them, we wish to design a detector, and are developing it on a FPGA.
Buckling and post-buckling cases are often occurred in aorta artery because it affected by higher pressure. Also, its stability has a vital importance to humans and animals. The loss of stability in arteries may lead to arterial tortuosity and kinking. In this paper, post-buckling analysis of aorta artery is investigated under axial compression loads on the basis of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory by using finite element method. It is known that post-buckling problems are geometrically nonlinear problems. In the geometrically nonlinear model, the Von Karman nonlinear kinematic relationship is employed. Two types of support conditions for the aorta artery are considered. The considered non-linear problem is solved by using incremental displacement-based finite element method in conjunction with Newton-Raphson iteration method. The aorta artery is modeled as a cylindrical tube with different average diameters. In the numerical results, the effects of the geometry parameters of aorta artery on the post-buckling case are investigated in detail. Nonlinear deflections and critical buckling loads are obtained and discussed on the post-buckling case.
In this paper the unsteady fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems with large structural displacement are solved by partitioned solution approaches in the arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian finite element framework. The incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the characteristic-based split (CBS) scheme. Both a rigid body and a geometrically nonlinear solid are considered as the structural models. The latter is solved by Newton-Raphson procedure. The equation governing the structural motion is advanced by Newmark-${\beta}$ method in time. The dynamic mesh is updated by using moving submesh approach that cooperates with the ortho-semi-torsional spring analogy method. A mass source term (MST) is introduced into the CBS scheme to satisfy geometric conservation law. Three partitioned coupling strategies are developed to take FSI into account, involving the explicit, implicit and semi-implicit schemes. The semi-implicit scheme is a mixture of the explicit and implicit coupling schemes due to the fluid projection splitting. In this scheme MST is renewed for interfacial elements. Fixed-point algorithm with Aitken's ${\Delta}^2$ method is carried out to couple different solvers within the implicit and semi-implicit schemes. Flow-induced vibrations of a bridge deck and a flexible cantilever behind an obstacle are analyzed to test the performance of the proposed methods. The overall numerical results agree well with the existing data, demonstrating the validity and applicability of the present approaches.
In this study, the finite element analysis using joint elements, bolt elements, and shell elements is presented to investigate the behavior of bolted connections. The contact of plates and the high-strength, pretensioned bolts are simply idealized by joint elements and bolt elements, respectively. The initial stiffness is determined through the presented method and the non-linear analysis is archived by a constant-arc-length method based on Newton-Raphson method. The analysis results of a semi-rigid connection(web & flange angles) and a moment connection (shear & moment plates) demonstrate the exactness and applicability of the presented method. And the results indicates that the consideration of slip and 3-dimensional deformation is needed for an accurate prediction of bolted connections.

In this paper, the kinematic and dynamic analyses of spatial complex kinematic chain are studied. Through the new method both using the set of identification numbers and applying the DenavitHartenberg link representation method to the spatial complex kinematic chain, the kinematic configuration of the chain is represented. Some link in the part of closed chain being fictitiously cutted, the complex kinematic chain is transformed to the branched chain. The kinematic constraint equations are derived from the constraint conditions which the cutted sections of the link have to satisfy. And the joint variables being partitioned in the independent joint variables and the dependent joint variables, the dependent variables are calculated from the independent variables by using the Newton-Raphson iterative method and the pseudoinverse matrix. The equations of motion are derived under the independent joint variables by using the principle of virtual work. Algorithms for dynamic analysis are presented and simulations are done to verify accuracy and efficiency of the algorithms.

The finite element method, based on rigid-plastic formulation, is widely used to simulate metal forming processes. In order to improve the computational efficiency of the rigid-plastic FEM, one-point integration is used to evaluate the stiffness matrix with four-node rectangular elements and eight-node brick elements. In order to control the hourglass modes, hourglass strain rate components were introduced and included in the effective strain rate definition, Numerical tests have shown that the proposed one-point integration scheme reduces the stiffness matrix evaluation time without deteriorating the convergence behavior of Newton-Raphson method. Simulations of a ring compression, a plane-strain closed-die forging and the three-dimensional spike forging processes were carried out by using the proposed integration method. The simulation results are compared to those obtained by applying the conventional integraiton method in terms of the solution accuracy and computational efficiency.
Sports scene is characterized by large amount of global motion due to pan and zoom of camera motion, and includes many small objects moving independently. Some short period of sports games is thrilling to televiewers, and important to producers. At the same time that kinds of scenes exhibit exceptionally dynamic motions and it is very difficult to analyze the motions with conventional algorithms. In this thesis, several algorithms are proposed for global motion analysis on these dynamic scenes. It is shown that proposed algorithms worked well for motion compensation and panorama synthesis. When cascading the inter frame motions, accumulated errors are unavoidable. In order to minimize these errors, interpolation method of motion vectors is introduced. Affined transform or perspective projection transform is regarded as a square matrix, which can be factorized into small amount of motion vectors. To solve factorization problem, we preposed the adaptation of Newton Raphson method into vector and matrix form, which is also computationally efficient. Combining multi frame motion estimation and the corresponding interpolation in hierarchical manner enhancement algorithm of motion parameters is proposed, which is suitable for motion compensation and panorama synthesis. The proposed algorithms are suitable for special effect rendering for broadcast system, video indexing, tracking in complex scenes, and other fields requiring global motion estimation.

It is very important to reduce the computational processing time for the application of the vision system in real time such as inspection, the determination of object's dimension and welding etc, because the vision system model involves a lot of measurement data acquired by CCD camera. Also, a lot of computation time is required in estimating the parameters in the vision system model if the iterative batch estimation method such as Newton Raphson is used. Thus, the effective computation method such as the Extended Kalman Filtering(EKF) is required to solve the above problems. The EKF has much advantages in that it takes explicitly into account the measurement uncertainties, and is a simple and efficient recursive procedures. Thus, this study is to develop the EKF algorithm to compute the parameters in the vision system model in real time. This vision system model involves the six parameters to account for the cameras inner and outer parameters. Also the EKF is applied to estimate the object's dimension. Finally, practicality of the estimation scheme of the vision system based on the EKF is verified experimently by performing the estimation of object's dimension.
