The goals and meanings of this papers are set up to analyse the trend of Design immerged in 21st century with studying Fusion culture which is related with Digital concept that is the most spot-lighted in 21st century and summarizing the effects of this tendency given to Design. We are experiencing Digital Revolution which leads us from Analog Society to Digital society. Also, this means that New Millenium starts with characteristics of [End of Century]. I focus on the concept of Fusion-design, in the view of Art-Nouveau and Post-Modernism which came over the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century. Furthermore, I define the Fusion-design of Digital era and find the way that design of 21st century develops.

The purposed of this study is to analyze the performance-art facilities. Research methods were reference study (interaction, local performance-art facilities) and research on the actual condition (on 4 local performance-art facilities for field investigation). Consequently emotional interractive space design makes people satisfied with their five senses, communication with people increase and enable people to experience something new that they haven't experienced before transcending time and space. Interaction design is designing experience of user through the interaction for human, thing, system, and space. The result of this research is to found out the possibility of emotional interaction design concept applied in public service area as a plan to revitalize the performance-art facilities.

One of the characteristics of contemporary interior design is the prominence of material and its challenge to the established concept of interior design. As material has risen to the new element of design, losing its old concept as something secondary surrounding space, it had become an useful instrument to create unique images as well as to express the paradigm of space that modern society demands. The active role of material has made itself one of the primary elements that make a difference in design. Particularly in commercial spaces where sales are important and attractive spaces are needed, material has been emergent conveying its appling to consumers. Therefore, this study analyses the materiality that material has and its characteristics represented as images in commercial spaces. With the analysis, it researches further into the unlimited possibility of material and show the way for modern interior design to head for.

Ron Arad, the master of contemporary design in the U.K., is one of representative leaders of this age who has left distinguished achievements in the history of contemporary design through innovative design. Analyzing and understanding the Deconstructive design concept and the deconstructive characteristics of interior space of Ron Arad will contribute to finding directions for today's design and laying the ground for explaining the development pattern of design in the 21st century. After analyzing the deconstructive characteristics of each selected space, One Off and Ron Arad Associates have shown a deconstructive design trend of a creative formula by using methods that shed conventional processes and material while a space composition and form of new concept was attempted in the resting space of the New Tel Aviv Opera House, offering not only the establishment of a new circulation system, but also diverse experiences of space to visitors. Likewise, a temporal experience and communication between the user and the space was attempted in Belgo Noord and Belgo Central by partially applying a narrative space composition that sheds existing design concepts. At the Millennium House, they have produced an interior space for future house developed by breaking off from existing typical design development work and material through computer operation, and made various forms of space and atmosphere possible by attempting variable elements and the use of ultramodern material. Y's fashion shop has granted variability to the form and volume of space according to time by presenting display elements that have shed existing form and function. Hotel Puerta America as well, with a curved structure that has broken off with existing forms and maximized space variability through structures that have utilized ultramodern materials and instruments. Through this study, it has been verified that Ron Arad has been unraveling connections between interior space and its user, its requirements, and the original unique principles of space by applying deconstructive design concepts, and that through the mediation of these spaces, he is attempting indirect communication with the user. Eventually, he is taking part in the harmony and development of all elements of space connected with human beings by applying deconstructive design concepts.

21세기는 소비자의 내외재적 경험을 중시하는 경험경제(Experience Economy)의 시대라고 할 수 있으며 그 핵심은 새로운 관점에서 소비자의 욕구를 이해하는 것이다. 그간 전문가 중심적 관점의 디자인 개발은 제품의 사용성이나 조형성 개선에 주력하였으나 이제는 이에 더하여 사용자의 경험 전반에 무게를 두는 진전된 개념을 적용하도록 요구한다. 이를 위해 소비자의 가치체계에 대한 연구를 디자인의 중심적 지식기반으로 활용할 필요가 있으며 가장 핵심적인 내용의 하나가 경험 시스템에 대한 체계적 접근이다. 이런 배경에 따라 본 연구는 첫째, 제품디자인에 있어 '경험(experience)'의 개념을 소비자의 삶의 중요한 측면으로 새롭게 정의하고 두 번째, 경험디자인의 개념을 구체적으로 정의하며, 마지막으로 그 디자인 실무를 위한 적용체계 모형을 제시하고자 한다. 연구의 전개는 경험론(Empiricism)과 존 듀이(John Dewey)의 이론을 기반으로 경험개념을 밝혔고, 경험의 의미와 유형을 디자인 관점에서 재해석하였다. 이 과정에서 경험을 유발하는 구성인자를 도출하여 이를 디자인의 전개 체계와 적용 모형으로 설정하여 디자인에 활용 가능한 방법론이 되게 하였다. 제시된 적용 모형의 내용은 인간과 환경이 상호관계(interaction)하는 방식에 대해 디자인이 사용자에게 서로 다른 경험 유형과 요소를 제공함으로써 독특한 경험대상을 체득하게 하며 동시에 다양한 경험을 창출할 수 있는 모습을 보여준다. 경험디자인은 이와 같은 모형을 바탕으로 새롭게 창출될 수 있는 경험을 사용자 목표에 맞게 계획하고 설계하여 디자인에 적용함으로써 최적의 제품 경험을 사용자에게 제공하는 것이라 할 수 있다.

Broadband Convergence Network (BcN) can provide a range of quality guaranteed broadband multimedia services through packet-based converged transport network. For providing new emerging application services in due season over BcN, it is important for network designers or planners to develop a new design methodology for BcN, which differs from legacy design processes applied to a single service network. This paper thus introduces a new design concept and detailed design processes for KT-BcN. We also present a design example of BcN control network using a design system that we have developed.

본 연구는 "부산신항 배후 국제산업물류도시 조성 도시개념 현상공모전"의 설계지침과 공모전 당선작들의 계획개념 및 설계전략을 비교.분석하여, 동시대의 도시 및 건축전문가들이 생각하는 미래지향적이고 국제적인 수변 산업물류 도시에 대한 아이디어를 고찰하였다. 설계지침분석을 통한 1)계획개념, 2)토지이용계획, 3)교통계획, 4)주거환경계획, 5)공원녹지계획을 분석항목으로 하여 그 각 계획안들의 특징과 차이점들을 고찰하였으며, 각 항목별로 향후이와 유사한 수변부계획 및 설계, 또는 신도시조성시 고려해야 할 계획 및 설계원칙을 정리하였다.

This paper addresses a new project being carried out at Satellite Technology Research Center. The purpose of the project is to implement a system which receives, processes and stores 1m resolution satellite image transmitted at over 300Mbps down link data rates. In order to develop such a system, a system operational concept design and a requirements study were being carried out As a result of the operational concept design, system objectives, system context and system functions were defined. The system shall be operated according to the philosophy of maximum automation. rapid processing, reliability, integrity, cost effectiveness, and expandability. The system is divided into twelve independent processes and its behavior is modeled by operational scenario, which are combinations of independent processes. Process information and logs generated by the system shall be stored in databases and data received and generated be automatically archived and managed in a hierarchical storage device. The system shall have redundant components in order to be ready for recovering from sudden system failures. This paper will describe in detail the system operational concept design and the system requirements derived from the operational concept design.

In order to take account of the statistical properties of probability variables used in the structural analysis, the conventional approach using the safety factor based on past experience usually estimated the safety of a structure. The real structures could only be analyzed with the error in estimation of loads, material characters and the dimensions of the members. But the errors should be considered systematically in the structural analysis. Structural safety could not precisely be appraised by the traditional structural design concept. Recently, new approach based on the probability concept has been applied to the assessment of structural safety using the reliability concept. Thus, the computer program by the Probabilistic FEM is developed by incorporating the probabilistic concept into the conventional FEM method. This paper estimated for the reliability of a plane stress structure by Advanced First-Order Second Moment method using von Mises, Tresca and Mohr-Coulomb failure criterions. The reliability index and failure probability of attained by the Monte Carlo Simulation method with the von Mises criterion were same as PFEM, but the Monte Carlo Simulation were very time-consuming. The variance of member thickness and load could influence the reliability and failure probability most sensitively among the design variables from the results of the parameter analysis. And proper failure criterion must be used to design safely.

현재 미국에서 발간되고 있는 <에미그레(Emigre)>지는 기존의 쇼 케이스(show case)와 같은 상업잡지와 그 유형이 전혀 다른 그래픽디자인 전문지이다. 발행인 루디 반더란스(Rudy VanderLans)가 80년대 초 이 잡지를 발간했던 주요동기는 시각디자인 문화의 영역에 있어 보편적인 개념에 의한 전형(paradigm)이란 존재하지 않는다는 가설과, 이에 동조하는 새로운 젊은 세대의 디자이너들의 다양하고 자유로운 사고와 실험적 표현방법을 검증받게 하기 위한 매체가 필요하다는 인식 때문이었다. 모더니즘 그래픽디자인 방법으로 통칭되었던 스위스 국제양식의 편제 스타일에 있어 감성적, 개성적 표현의 한계에 의문을 가졌던 반더란스는 컴퓨터를 활용한 디지털 폰트개발의 선두주자인 그의 아내 주자나 리코(Zuzana Licko)와 함께 <에미그레> 잡지를 기획함에 있어 전통적 포맷방식에서 벗어나 잡지의 특별기획기사와 관련내용을 시각적으로 연관시킨 편집 디자인으로 매호마다 디자인계에 논란을 불러 일으킴과 동시에 크게 주목을 받고 있다. 본 논문은 <에미그레> 잡지의 기획을 내용과 형식으로 분류하여 그래픽디자인의 새로운 물결(New Wave)로 일컬어지고 있는 새로운 그래픽 컨셉에 대한 주의 주장들을 콘텐츠별로 살펴보고 그 디자인적 특수성을 분석해 보았다. 그리고 모더니즘 편제방법 그 이후의 탈 그리드 편집디자인의 제 경향에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 그리하여 21세기 정보화시대의 만개와 더불은 하이테크 미디어의 출현, 디지털 테크놀로지에 의한 제작여건의 변화와 함께 라이프 사이클이 점점 더 짧아지는 다양한 그래픽 개념들의 새로운 변화와 그 미래지향적 방향에 대해 추론해 볼 수 있었다.
