  • A new statistical linearization technique for nonlinear system called covariance matching method is proposed in this paper. The covariance matching method makes the mean and variance of an approximated output be identical real functional output, and the distribution of the approximated output have identical shape with a given random input. Also, the covariance matching method can be easily implemented for statistical analysis of nonlinear systems with a combination of linear system covariance analysis.

  • This study focused on the fact that there are a lot of alleys in some areas of the Urban Renewal New Deal project. In this study, we proposed a method to construct a spatial module by combining small modules. It is expected that the combination of small modules developed in this way will help revitalize the New Deal of Urban Regeneration. In the future, additional joint details will be developed, structure review will be conducted.

  • The new burley tobacco variety, KB 301, was developed by the cross combination ’(Ky 17 x TI 1068)F$_4$ x TC 613’. The modified pedigree breeding method was used in the selection procedures. The agronomic traits and chemical constituents of KB 301 were very similar to those of Burley 21. But KB 301 had significantly higher content of total DVT than Burley 21. KB 301 was also resistant to black shank, TMV and PVY.

  • SNS users have increased at rapid rate. Many firms are expected to use SNS, especially in marketing area. This study describes a SNS-based new products promotion case study. We aim to identify how differently SNS users respond to different types of SNS media or SNS contents. In this analysis marketing effects are measured in a number of website hits. The study result shows how the number of user's hits differs upon a combination of SNS media and SNS contents.

  • In this paper, a new input estimation algorithm is proposed for target tracking problem. The unknown target maneuver is approximated by a linear combination of independent time functions and the coefficients are estimated by using a weighted least-squares estimation technique. The proposed algorithm is verified by computer simulation of a realistic two-dimensional tracking problem. The proposed algorithm provides significant improvements in estimation performance over the conventional input estimation techniques based on the constant-input assumption.

  • We provide a new semilocal convergence analysis of the Gauss-Newton method (GNM) for solving nonlinear equation in the Euclidean space. Using our new idea of recurrent functions, and a combination of center-Lipschitz, Lipschitz conditions, we provide under the same or weaker hypotheses than before [7]-[13], a tighter convergence analysis. The results can be extented in case outer or generalized inverses are used. Numerical examples are also provided to show that our results apply, where others fail [7]-[13].

  • Attempts were made to develop new protecting groups for 1,6-lactam function of 2-N-acyl guanine in oligodeoxyribonucleotide synthesis. Several acyl groups, aryl groups, and carbamoyl groups were tested. Dimethylcarbamoyl and phenylacetyl groups are shown to be a good combination for guanine residue. 6-O-Di-methylcarbamoyl-2-N-pheylacetyl-2'-deoxy guanosine have been successfully used in the synthesis of d[AAGCTT], which is Hind Ⅲ recognition sequence.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 도시경관의 이미지를 개선하기 위한 환경색채의 배색조화 방법을 제공하는 것이다. 연구 대상지역은 익산시 22개 아파트단지이며 이를 분석하였다. 본 연구는 자연색체계에 기초한 하드와 시빅의 배색모델을 준거의 틀로 사용하였다. 그리고 환경색채 지각과 색채미학에서 새롭게 제시된 다양한 이론들을 검토하였으며 환경 색채디자인에 적용될 수 있는 미학적 특성들을 제안하였다. 첫째, 색채조화 원리는 뉘앙스와 톤에 기초한다. 그러므로 뉘앙스와 관계된 명도와 채도의 조절이 배색에 중요하게 작용된다. 둘째, 색채지각에 있어 미적경험은 색채 속성들의 유사성과 차이성의 상호결합에 의한 효과로 정의되었다. 셋째, 색채조화이론은 더욱 통합적인 학제 간 연구를 통해 발전 될 수 있으며 이러한 경험적 자료는 환경색채디자인과 평가를 위한 기초적 정보가 될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

불확실성 처리를 위한 효율적 뎀스터 쉐이퍼 증거병합 방법 (An Efficient Dempster-Shafer Evidence Combination Scheme for Uncertainty Handling)

  • 많은 전문가 시스템에서 고려되는 중요한 주제 중의 하나인 불확실성 처리에 관한 연구에는 여러 처리 기법들이 있다. 그 중 뎀스터 쉐이퍼 증거병합방법은 그것의 장점과 동시에 계산적 복잡성 때문에 많이 연구되고 있다. 이 논문에서는 뎀스터 쉐이퍼 증거 병합 방법이 갖는 지수적 계산 특성을 해결하는 알고리즘을 개발한다. 두개의 신뢰 함수를 병합함에 있어 가설 집단(frame of discernment)을 두 신뢰함수에 공통되는 부분과 그 나머지로 구분해 계산 비용이 높은 뎀스터 쉐이퍼 병합은 공통부분인, 원래 보다 축소된 가설집단에 적용해 전체 계산 효율을 높이는 효과를 가져오도록 한다. 나머지 부분에 대해서는 병합의 결과가 무관성 요소(irrelevancy fac-tor)라 정의한 특정 상수에 의해 증감되는 선형적인 변화를 갖게되는 성질을 찾아낸다. 공유하는 요소가 없는 부분에 대해서는 병합의 결과가 간단히 이 상수의 곱에 의해 결정되므로 계산적인 효율을 증대시킬 수 있게 된다.

Combination Therapy for Gliomas Using Temozolomide and Interferon-Beta Secreting Human Bone Marrow Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells

  • Objective : Malignant gliomas are the most common primary tumors of the central nervous system and the prognosis of patients with gliomas is poor. The combination of interferon-bata (IFN-${\beta}$) and temozolomide (TMZ) has shown significant additive antitumor effects in human glioma xenograft models. Considering that the poor survival of patients with human malignant gliomas relates partly to the inability to deliver therapeutic agents to the tumor, the tropism of human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) for malignant gliomas can be exploited to therapeutic advantages. We investigated the combination effects of TMZ and MSCs that secrete IFN-${\beta}$ on gliomas. Methods : We engineered human MSCs to secret mouse IFN-${\beta}$ (MSC-IFN-${\beta}$) via adenoviral transduction and confirmed their secretory capacity using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. In vitro and in vivo experiments were performed to determine the effects of the combined TMZ and MSC-IFN-${\beta}$ treatment. Results : In vitro, the combination of MSC-IFN-${\beta}$ and TMZ showed significantly enhanced antitumor effects in GL26 mouse glioma cells. In vivo, the combined MSC-IFN-${\beta}$ and TMZ therapy significantly reduced the tumor size and improved the survival rates compared to each treatment alone. Conclusion : These results suggest that MSCs can be used as an effective delivery vehicle so that the combination of MSC-IFN-${\beta}$ and TMZ could be considered as a new option for the treatment of malignant gliomas.
