Research on media access control (MAC) scheme for Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has been mainly focused on energy efficiency improvement, while interest on latency is relatively weak. However, end-to-end latency could be a critical limitation specifically in the multi-hop network such as wireless multimedia sensor networks. In this paper we propose a media access control scheme with distributed transmission power control to Improve end-to-end transmission latency as well as reduce power consumption in multi-hop wireless sensor networks. According to the simulation results, the proposed scheme is turned out to be an energy efficient scheme with improved end-to-end transmission latency.

In this paper, an optimal approach for the wide-area regulation of control devices in a transmission network is proposed. In order to realize an improved voltage profile and reduced power loss, existing devices such as tap-changing transformers, synchronous machines, and capacitor banks should be controlled in a coordinated and on-line manner. It is well-understood that phasor measurement units in transmission substations allow the system operators to access the on-line loading and operation status of the network. Accordingly, this study proposes efficient software applications that can be employed in area operation centers. Thus, the implanted control devices can be regulated in an on-line and wide-area coordinated approach. In this process, efficient objective functions are devised for both voltage profile improvement and power loss reduction. Subsequently, sensitivity analysis is carried out to determine the best weighting factors for these objectives. Extensive numerical studies are conducted on an IEEE 14-bus test system and a real-world system named the Azarbayjan Regional Transmission Network. The obtained results are discussed in detail to highlight the promising improvements.

The Available Transfer Capability (ATC) is defined as the measure of the transfer capability remaining in the physical transmission network for further commercial activity above already committed uses. The ATC determination s related with Total Transfer Capability (TTC) and two reliability margins-Transmission Reliability Capability (TRM) and Capacity Benefit Margin(CBM) The TRM is the component of ATC that accounts for uncertainties and safety margins. Also the TRM is the amount of transmission capability necessary to ensure that the interconnected network is secure under a reasonable range of uncertainties in system conditions. The CBM is the translation of generator capacity reserve margin determined by the Load Serving Entities. This paper describes a method for determining the TTC and TRM to calculate the ATC in the Bulk power system (HL II). TTC and TRM are calculated using Power Transfer Distribution Factor (PTDF). PTDF is implemented to find generation quantifies without violating system security and to identify the most limiting facilities in determining the network’s TTC. Reactive power is also considered to more accurate TTC calculation. TRM is calculated by alternative cases. CBM is calculated by LOLE. This paper compares ATC and TRM using suggested PTDF with using CPF. The method is illustrated using the IEEE 24 bus RTS (MRTS) in case study.

Superframe in IEEE 802.15.4 Standard is subdivided into an active period and an inactive period to reduce energy consumption. But communication nodes use same data transmission range in an active period, thus communication nodes spend a lot of energy to send data another nodes. In this paper, we proposed reduce energy consumption algorithm that nodes use different transmission power. Cordinator split transmission area into four group and transmit becon message to nodes. Nodes adjust transmission power according to becon message and wates lowe energy than normal nodes. We proposed energy-efficient cross layer protocol that have different PAN (Personal Area Network) by four range group.

In this paper, a concatenated frame algorighm for improving transmission efficiency in WiMedia protocol is studied. And an efficient transmission scheme to reduce the degradation of network performance by the loss of mini-frame is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme can reduce total energy consumption and improve the transmission efficiency since it only retransmits mini-frame in which error is occurred. The simulation results show that proposed protocol can enhance the throughput performance and improve energy efficiency by minimizing the retransmission of mini-frame.
Under limited transmission conditions, many factors affect the efficiency of video transmission. During the flight of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), frequent network switching often occurs, and the channel transmission condition changes rapidly, resulting in low-video transmission efficiency. This paper presents an efficient video coding flow for UAVs working in the 5G nonstandalone network and proposes two bit controllers, including time and spatial bit controllers, in the flow. When the environment fluctuates significantly, the time bit controller adjusts the depth of the recursive codec to reduce the error propagation caused by excessive network inference. The spatial bit controller combines the spatial bit mask with the channel quality multiplier to adjust the bit allocation in space to allocate resources better and improve the efficiency of information carrying. In the spatial bit controller, a flexible mini graph is proposed to compute the channel quality multiplier. In this study, two bit controllers with end-to-end codec were combined, thereby constructing an efficient video coding flow. Many experiments have been performed in various environments. Concerning the multi-scale structural similarity index and peak signal-to-noise ratio, the performance of the coding flow is close to that of H.265 in the low bits per pixel area. With an increase in bits per pixel, the saturation bottleneck of the coding flow is at the same level as that of H.264.

A wireless LAN medical information transmission system is useful for patients who need mobility in a local area environment. This paper proposes a method using WLAN(wireless local area network) and implements a stand-alone system with MAC(meidum access control) layer protocol referenced IEEE 802.11 draft standard. The system consists of a 8bit-microprocessor which handles media access control protocol and a WL100(GEC Plessey) chip which takes care of phsical layer specific routines and uses a RF module DE6003(GEC Plessey). The major features of the implemented system are the CSMA/CA protocol used a consecutive DATA-ACK trasmission method which yields more effective bandwidth allocation for asyncronous traffic transmission and the modified PCF protocol for time-bounded traffic transmission, which operates in ad-hoc network topology apart from IEEE 802.11 draft standard confirm PCF mode operate in infrastruture topology.
In this paper, we have investigated how transmission network constraints can be modeled in an electricity market equilibrium model. Under Cournot competition assumption, a game model is set up considering transmission line capacity constraints. Based on locational marginal pricing principle, market clearing is formulated as a total consumers# benefit maximization problem, and then converted to a conventional optimal power flow (OPF) formulation with a linearized transmission model. Using market clearing formulation, best response analysis is formulated and, finally, Nash equilibrium is formulated. In order for illustration, a numerical study for a four node system with two generating firms and two loads are presented.

The transmission networks are not perfect conductors and a percentage of the power generated is therefore lost before it reaches the loads. This network loss effects to the cost of suppling power to consumers, and must be considered if the most efficient dispatch and location of generators and loads is to be achieved. In this paper, we propose an approximate calculation of marginal loss factors to analyze characteristics of transmission loss of KEPCO power system. These static marginal loss factors are approximately calculated based on the KEPCO's expected summer peak load data of year 2000.
Proper installation of Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices in existing transmission networks can enable power systems to accommodate more power transfer with less network expansion cost. The problem to maximize transmission system loadability by determining optimal locations and settings for installations of two types of FACTS devices, namely static var compensator (SVC) and thyristor controlled series compensator (TCSC), is formulated as a mixed discrete-continuous nonlinear optimization problem (MDCP). For solving the MDCP, in the paper, the proposed method with fitness sharing technique involved in the updating process of the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, can diversify the particles over the search regions as much as possible, making it possible to achieve the optimal solution with a big probability. The modified IEEE-14 bus network and a practical power system are used to validate the proposed method.
