  • A new design for easily controlling operating frequency of an antenna-integrated planar oscillator is introduced. The oscillator circuit of a broadband negative-resistance active part and a passive load including a patch antenna. The patch resonance is used for determining the oscillation frequency. This design reduces the possibility of mismatch between antenna radiation and oscillation frequencies. To achieve optimum output power, load-pull simulation for the negative-resistance circuit is used. The load-pull simulation shows the feed point and the delay of feed line can affect the oscillation power. Two negative-resistance circuits capable of supporting oscillation over full C-band and X-band are fabricated. The oscillation frequency, output power and phase noise for different patch antennas are measured.

  • During 2006, the antibiotic resistance rate were investigated in gram negative bacteria. Resistance to piperacillin were detected at 60% in Escherichia coli, and 37% in Klebsiella pneumoniae. Ceftriaxone were detected 58% in Enterobacter cloacae, 52% in Acinetobacter baumannii, 43% in Enterobacter aerogenes and 76% were detected in Serratia marcescens. Between 1998 and 2007 antibiotic resistance rate were decreased in seven types antibiotic drugs. but, ceftazidime were increased from 12 to 20% during this times. In addition, E. coli, E. cloacae, A. baumannii and E. aerogenes were more isolated from May to June and K. pneumoniae and S. marcescens were more isolated from July to September. We should monitor and control antibiotic use and regularly survey antibiotic resistance patterns among pathogens in the hospital.

  • In the high performance Analog Information Processing Systems(AIPS), gain boosting or additional gain stage is required when the gain is not sufficient with one stage amplification. This work shows that high gain is neatly obtained by enhancing the gain using the negative resistance element. Compared to the conventional techniques, the proposed scheme enjoys full output swing, small circuit area and power consumption, and the applications to various configurations of amplifiers. The negative resistance element is placed between the differential output nodes when used in the Op-Amp. The HSPICE simulation indicates that enhancement of more than 40 dB is readily obtained in this simple configuration when the negative resistance element is implemented in the form of cross-coupled CMOS inverters.

  • The characteristics of tunnel diode pair circuit biased within the negative resistance region has also the voltage-control type negative resistance region, and the voltage at the center point of negative resistance region is described as the square-wave relaxation oscillation. In this paper, the period T, positive duration T1, negative duration T2 of the pulse are obatined from the characteristic curve T, positive duration T1, negative duration T2 of the pulse are obtained from the characteristic curve and observed actually, considring the fact that the pulse width and the period of square-wave at the center point of the negative resistance region is able to be controlle dby the blas volgate. Mereover, the relationship between T, T1 or T2 and circuit parameters is searched for and the Circuit parameters that satisfy the conditions of T1-T2 being proportional to the variation of bias voltage with Teonstant are determined. Thereafter, the bias voltage and the signal voltage are inserted serially to the PWM circuit and the characteristics of that circuit is analyzed.

  • This study investigates to investigate the factors that influence user resistance of mobile payment services. We suggested individual and technical characteristics of mobile payment services as factors influencing perceived risk and user resistance. In addition, we suggested negative security recognition as moderating variable. To test the proposed hypotheses, we collected 349 survey responses from the users of mobile payment services and conducted structural equation modeling with SmartPLS2.0. The results show that, first, negative social influence, risk aversion and distrust in existing services had an effect on the perceived risk. Second, the pace of change and vulnerability had an effect on the perceived risk. Third, perceived risk affected the user resistance while negative security recognition is related to the relationship between perceived risk and user resistance.

  • The clinical benefits of oncogenic BRAF inhibitor therapies are limited by the emergence of drug resistance. In this study, we investigated the role of a negative regulator of the MAPK pathway, Spry2, in acquired resistance using BRAF inhibitor-resistant derivatives of the BRAF-V600E melanoma (A375P/Mdr). Real-time RT-PCR analysis indicated that the expression of Spry2 was higher in A375P cells harboring the BRAF V600E mutation compared with wild-type BRAF-bearing cells (SK-MEL-2) that are resistant to BRAF inhibitors. This result suggests the ability of BRAF V600E to evade feedback suppression in cell lines with BRAF V600E mutations despite high Spry2 expression. Most interestingly, Spry2 exhibited strongly reduced expression in A375P/Mdr cells with acquired resistance to BRAF inhibitors. Furthermore, the overexpression of Spry2 partially restored sensitivity to the BRAF inhibitor PLX4720 in two BRAF inhibitor-resistant cells, indicating a positive role for Spry2 in the growth inhibition induced by BRAF inhibitors. On the other hand, long-term treatment with PLX4720 induced pERK reactivation following BRAF inhibition in A375P cells, indicating that negative feedback including Spry2 may be bypassed in BRAF mutant melanoma cells. In addition, the siRNA-mediated knockdown of Raf-1 attenuated the rebound activation of ERK stimulated by PLX4720 in A375P cells, strongly suggesting the positive role of Raf-1 kinase in ERK activation in response to BRAF inhibition. Taken together, these data suggest that RAF signaling may be released from negative feedback inhibition through interacting with Spry2, leading to ERK rebound and, consequently, the induction of acquired resistance to BRAF inhibitors.

  • Wildlife is a bio-indicator of environmental pollution by antimicrobial resistant bacteria or genes, however, there is no information on antimicrobial resistance in wildlife-origin bacteria. This study aimed to investigate the normal microbiota of staphylococci and their antimicrobial resistance in wildlife that did not take any antimicrobials. After sampling and bacterial isolation/identification, antimicrobial resistance profiles were examined by broth microdilution test, Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion test and mecA genetargeted PCR. Of 90 isolates from wildlife, 83 were coagulase-negative staphylococci while only 7 were coagulase-positive staphylococci. Methicillin-resistance was found in 63 (70%) isolates and 35 of 90 (38.9%) isolates were multidrug-resistant staphylococci. When considering that all of the animals did not take any medication or contacted any medical device before the sampling, the results indicate significantly high prevalence of antimicrobial resistance in wild environments. Further study would be necessary to investigate the transmission route of antimicrobial resistance.

  • One hundred and twenty seven strains of Gram-negative rods (72 E. coli, 45 Klebsieila pneumoniae, 8 Enterobacter spp. and 2 Pseudomonas aeruginosa) isolated from bovine mastitis were examined for resistance to ampicilin, carbenicillin and cefazolin, ${\beta}$-lactamase activity and transferable ${\beta}$-lactamase plasmids. Stains resistant to ampicillin were 13.9% in E. coli, 93.3% in Klebsiella pneumoniae, 87.5% in Enterobacter. spp. and all in Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Resistance of E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobacter spp. to ampicillin was due to the ${\beta}$-lactamases, but all Pseudomonas aeruginosa exhibited a high level of the non-enzymic resistance. Transferable plasmid-mediated ${\beta}$-lactamase synthesis was demonstrated in 61.9% of Klebsiella pneumoniae, 50% of E. coli and 42.9% of Enterobacter spp. The same ${\beta}$-lactamase plasmids specified different resistance levels to various ${\beta}$-lactam antibiotics in different recipients.

  • The DC characteristics of GaAS Gunn diode are investigated as a preliminary study on the planar grade gap injector GaAs Gunn diode which is the transferred electron device with high output power and dc-rf conversion efficiency. The Gunn devices we fabricated were confirmed to have the DC characteristics of negative differential resistance(NDR). We discussed the nature of the NDR effect, including the electron intervalley transfer; the NDR effect was examined for six different cathode radii.
