The platelet AlO(OH) nano colloids were prepared by hydrothermal reaction of the $\gamma-Al_2O_3$ obtained with dehydration of $\gamma$-AlO(OH) and dilute $CH_3COOH$ solution. In hydrothermal reaction process, reversible reaction was accompanied between $\gamma-Al_2O_3$ and AlO(OH), and hydrothermal reaction temperature, hydrothermal reaction time and $CH_3COOH$ concentration had an effect on the crystal structure, surface chemical property, surface area, pore characteristics and crystal morphology of the AlO(OH) nano colloid particles. In this study, it was investigated to the hydrothermal reaction condition of the AlO(OH) nano colloid for using catalyst support, heat resisting agent, adsorbents, binder, polishing agent and coating agent. The crystal structure, surface area, pore volume and pore size of the platelet AlO(OH) nano colloids were investigated by XRD, TEM, TG/DTA, FT-IR and $N_2$ BET method in liquid nitrogen temperature.
The surface of nano-kenaf containing cellulose fibers was treated with alkali (NaOH) and their effects on the physical properties of the polypropylene (PP) composite were investigated. The treatment of alkali on the fibers increased the melt flow index (M.I.), elongation%, and impact strength, while it decreased the tensile strength, flexural modulus and heat deflection temperature (HDT) of the compound compared to the untreated one. It seemed the alkali treatment on the nano-kenaf fiber changed the character of the fiber due to removal of impurities and chemicals on the surface and resulted in decreased interfacial adhesion between the nano-fiber surface and the PP matrix and changed the character of the PP.

Surface contamination and leakage current have caused operating problems. A flashover in a substation may result in destruction of an insulator or many others electrical equipment. Engineering plastics have good characteristic (light weight, good productivity and little of void) as compare with epoxy or porcelain insulators. Outdoor insulator must have resistance to contamination. However, it isn't suited to outdoor insulator because it is not hydrophobic. RTV(Room temperature vulcanizing) has a good property of hydrophobic and micro-filler. nano-filler have characteristics of obstructing exothermic reaction. In order to reduce the incidence of insulator flashover and damage, the silicon rubber contained with micro, nano-filler coating on surface of engineering plastics. In this paper, it compares tracking resistance, leakage current of the engineering plastic coated RTV with that of non-coated engineering plastic. And filled-composites performed much better than non-filled composites.
Nano-wear and friction of carbon overcoated laser-textured and mechanically-textured computer hard disk were characterised after contact start/stop (CSS) wear test. Various analytical and mechanical testing techniques were employed to study the changes in topography, roughness, chemical elements, mechanical properties and friction characteristics of the coating arising from the contact start/stop wear test These techniques include: the atomic force microscopy (AFM), the continuous nano-indentation test, the nano-scratch test, the time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy (TOF-SIMS) and the auger electron spectroscopy (AES). It was shown that the surface roughness of the laser-textured (LT) bump and mechanically textured (MT) Bone was reduced approximately am and 7nm, respectively, after the CSS wear test. The elastic modulus and hardness values increased after the CSS test, indicating straining hardening of the top coating layer, A critical load was also identified fer adhesion failure between the magnetic layer and the Ni-P layer, The TOF-SIMS analysis also revealed some reduction in the intensity of C and $C_2$$F_59$, confirming the wear of lubricant elements on the coating surface.
Poly-methylmetacrylate (PMMA) is mainly applied in the plastic manufacturing industry, but PMMA is weak and gradually got discolor. The strength of PMMA can be improved through organic-inorganic hybrid nano composites with inorganic nano particles such as, $SiO_2$ or ZrO. However, inorganic nano particles are mostly agglomerated spontaneously. In this study, the zeta potential is controlled using different types of organic solvent with different concentrations, dispersibillity of $SiO_2$ nano particles on the PMMA particle are analyzed. When 3 M acetic acid is used, absolute value of the zeta potential is higher, $SiO_2$ nano particle is well attached, and dispersed on the PMMA particle surface. Results indicate that the absolute value of the zeta potential affects the stability of $SiO_2$ dispersion.
Poly(vinyl acetate) films containing benzophenone were photocrosslinked by continuous UV irradiation.UV irradiation of PVAc film containing 5% benzophenone induced bulk crosslinking of the polymer indicated by 84.1% of gel fraction after ethyl acetate extraction. The crosslinking was attributed to the recombination of tertiary polymer radicals generated upon UV irradiation, which was enhanced by the hydrogen abstraction of benzophenone. Also the UV irradiation resulted in scission of ester linkage and photooxidation of PVAc surface, which was verified by ATR and zeta potential analysis, implying that the PVAc surface became more polar and hydrophilic. The zeta potential proportionally increased from +4.5mV to -26.8 mV with increasing UV irradiation. Also the surface energy of the PVAc film increased with higher UV irradiation upto 56.5 $mJ/m^2$ by the enhanced Lewis acid/base component with larger contribution of Lewis acid parameter. Accordingly the crosslinked PVAc showed higher thermal stability with increasing UV energy.
We have investigated the effects of formalin on the assembly of colloidal gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) prepared by laser ablation of a solid gold target in deionized water. Upon addition of formalin, the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) band at 519 nm for pure AuNPs decreases and shifts to red while a new broad SPR band appears at ~700 nm. The red-shift is prominent with increase in the incubation time. The average size of the initial AuNPs is around 12 nm but it increases to 23 nm after addition of formalin. It turns out that formalin acts as a cationic surfactant for AuNPs with negative surface charge in the colloidal solutions. Furthermore, through analysis of the Raman spectrum of formalin and the density functional theory calculations, we confirm that methanediol is the main species in formalin which is in charge of the aggregation of AuNPs.

Nano bubble water is used in various washing processes, including cleaning of solar panels, salt rejection of roads, and cleaning precision parts of machines. High cleaning efficiency and water conservation are obtained by applying nano bubbles during pretreatment of the marine waste cleaning system. This study compared the salt rejection of nano bubble water, and it was revealed that marine waste was produced by wood immersed in 200,000 mg/L NaCl solution. Using tap water and nano bubble water for washing, comparisons of the surface salt concentrations of wood were determined according to the nozzle, orifice diameter, pump speed and washing time. Decreased surface salt concentration was observed on the wood surface with increasing washing time. Water consumption was optimal between 5- and 10-seconds washing time. Increasing orifice diameter of the nozzle reduced the spraying pressure, with consequent increase in the wood surface salt concentration, thereby establishing the importance of orifice diameter of the nozzle. Compared to levels obtained with tap water, salt concentration of the wood surface after washing with nano bubble water was 2.2% lower with sector nozzle, and 30.9% lower with circular nozzle. In the washing experiment using nano bubble water, the salt concentration on the wood surface was about 9.5 mg/L lower when washed with sector nozzle than the circular nozzle.

The effect the diameter of silver nanorod arrays whose distance between the nanorods was uniform at 65 nm have on Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) has been studied by varying the diameter from 28 to 51 nm. Nanorod length was fixed at approximately 62 nm, which is the optimum length for SERS by excitation with a 632.8 nm laser line. The transverse and longitudinal modes of the surface plasmon of these silver nanorods were near 400 and 630 nm, respectively. The extinction of the longitudinal mode increased with increasing nanorod diameter, while the transverse mode did not change significantly. High-quality SERS spectra of p-aminothiophenol and benzenethiol adsorbed on the tips of the silver nanorods were observed by excitation with a 632.8 nm laser line. The SERS enhancement increased with increasing nanorod diameter. We concluded that the SERS enhancement increases when the diameter of silver nanorods is increased mainly by increasing the excitation efficiency of the longitudinal mode. The enhancement factor for the silver nanorods with a 51 nm diameter was approximately $2{\times}10^7$.

In this article, a 20 kHz ultrasonic waveguide for nano-surface treatment was designed and manufactured. When designing the system, finite element analysis with ANSYS software was performed to find optimal dimensions of the waveguide, which can raise energy efficiency. Consequently an anti-resonance frequency of an Al waveguide with a piezoelectric actuator was 20 kHz, which predicted the experimentally obtained value of 18 kHz well. For the assessment of the performance, Steel Use Stainless (SUS) 304 and chromium molybdenum steel (SCM) 435 specimens were tested. Cross-sectional microscopies of SUS304 were taken and they showed that the treated thickness was $30{\mu}m$. Additionally, hardness tests of SCM435 were done and the hardness before the process was 14.0 Rockwell Hardness-C scale (HRC) and after the process was 20.5 HRC, respectively, which means 46% increase. Considering these results, the developed ultrasonic system is thought to be effective in the nano-surface treatment process.
