This study was carried out to compare the nutrition knowledge, nutrition attitudes and eating behaviors of dietitians and non-dietitians. The subjects of this study were 148 dietitians and 195 non-dietitians who are working in the metropolitan area. The general characteristics, nutrition knowledge, nutrition attitudes and eating behaviors of the subjects were surveyed using a self-administered questionnaire. The results were as follows: The result of anthropometric data and body mass index showed no significant differences between dietitians and non-dietitians groups. The dietitian group ($16.61{\pm}1.82$) showed a significant difference (p < 0.001) compared to the non-dietitian group ($14.60{\pm}2.17$) in nutrition knowledge scores. Nutrition attitudes of the dietitian group ($36.66{\pm}6.91$) was a little higher than the non-dietitian group ($36.21{\pm}7.95$), but not a significant difference. The dietitian group ($61.52{\pm}9.37$) and the non-dietitian group ($62.50{\pm}11.25$) were no significant difference in eating behaviors. The correlation between nutrition knowledge scores and nutrition attitudes score of dietitians and non-dietitians groups were no significantly difference and also the correlation between nutrition knowledge scores and eating behaviors scores were not statistically significance. Whereas, the correlation between nutrition attitudes and eating behaviors showed a significant difference (dietitian r = 0.40829, non-dietitian r = 0.51914). From these results, we could see the necessity of emphasis of nutrition knowledge by mending the education is necessary to enable dietitians to apply that in real life. Also it is important to guide non-dietitians to adjust their nutrition knowledge, nutrition attitudes and eating behaviors.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between atopic dermatitis and a comprehensive diagnosis of Qi Blood Water in children with or without atopic dermatitis. Methods: We surveyed 206 children in Seoul Jungnang-gu nursery by reviewing the questionnaires following a medical examination. Comprehensive diagnosis of Qi Blood Water was investigated by questionnaires and composition scores and total scores were calculated from the symptom scores. Atopic dermatitis was diagnosed by ophthalmo.otolaryngo.dermatologist and atopic dermatitis symptom was measured by a Visual analogue scale(VAS). Comparisons between the atopic and non-atopic groups were made based on the atopic dermatitis symptom scale, composition scores and total scores. Results : 1. Of the 206 patients, 153(74.27%) were included in the non-atopic group, while 53(25.73%) were included in the atopic group. There was no difference in average age between the two groups. 2. The atopic dermatitis symptom scale of atopic group(3.21$\pm$2.018) was significantly higher than that of non-atopic group(0.04$\pm$0.28). 3. Qi deficiency, Qi stagnation, Blood stasis and Water congestion scores and the total scores of the atopic group were higher than those of the non-atopic group, but it was not significant. 4. The Qi regurgitation and Blood deficiency scores of atopic group were significantly higher than those of the non-atopic group. 5. There was a highly significant correlation between the atopic dermatitis symptom scale and Qi regurgitation scores, and between the atopic dermatitis symptom scale and Blood deficiency scores. Conclusion : Atopic dermatitis seems to have a special feature reflecting the state of comprehensive diagnosis of Qi regurgitation and Blood deficiency in children.
There have been changes throughout the past 100 years of English education in Korea. The Ministry of Education revised the English curriculum numerous times. From the 6th national curriculum, communicative competence became an essential objective in English learning. The study is to see if E University students' TOEIC results show any significant difference between the two groups under the 5th and 6th national curriculum. Another objective of this research is to see if recruiting medical students with high scores of the standardized English tests is suitable to select the best candidates who can fulfill medical studies. For these two purposes, sophomore students' TOEIC results in 2000 & 2004 and non-resident-status students' cumulative GPA were analyzed. The study shows that there is no significant difference in the two groups. Moreover, the current recruiting policy to select the best fit medical candidates based on their high TOEIC or TOEFL scores does not seem to be an appropriate measure since such students' GPA reveals poor academic performance amid their high scores in English.
This clinical study aims to find out the effect of the fingertip's temperature and beverage-taking on the personality test by MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory). This is based on the sample survey on the 5 groups ; two or more-veined-handed group (15 persons), one-veined-handed group (22 persons), non-veined-hanede group(13 persons), beverage-taking group (41 persons) and beverage-non-taking group (14 persons). The result was obtained as follows ; 1. In the comparative examination on the two or mire-veined-haned group and the non-veined-handed group, there was significant difference of the temperature between the scale D and the scales of Mf, Pa, Pt, and Sc. 2. For the scales of Hs, D, Hy and the scales of Pd, Pa, Pt, Sc, the one-veined-handed group showed higher T-scores and lower fingertip's temperature than the non-veined-handed group without singnificant difference between them. 3. For the scales of D, Hy and the scales of Pd, Pa, Pt, Sc, the beverage-taking group showed higher T-scores and lower fingertip's temperature than the beverage-non-taking group without significant difference between them. As a result, I could find that low temperature on the fingertip, protruded vein on three knuckles(三關) of the finger and beverage-taking would cause the blood-extravasation(血瘀) and the lack of the transports in the spleen(脾不運化) and have an influence on Neurosis and Psychosis.
This study aimed to investigate the effects of tutors' domain and teaching expertise on learning outcomes in a problem based learning (PBL) environment. Four tutors and 25 first-year medical students participated in this study. Tutors' domain expertise was classified by clinical or non-clinical which is basic medicine and teaching expertise by previous tutoring experiences or not. The results showed a statistically significant difference in achievement depending on the tutors' domain expertise. Students grouped with an experienced clinical tutor attained higher achievement scores than those with an experienced non-clinical tutor, while those with an inexperienced non-clinical tutor attained higher scores than those with both inexperienced clinical tutors and experienced non-clinical tutors. Students with clinical medicine tutors also showed higher satisfaction scores than those with non-clinical medicine tutors. In particular, students grouped with an experienced clinical tutor gained higher satisfaction scores than those with inexperienced non-clinical tutors, and among the inexperienced tutors, students tutored by a clinical tutor showed higher scores than those with a non-clinical tutor. Different intervention styles were also found depending on tutors' domain and teaching expertise. Experienced tutors gradually reduced the tutoring intervention, whereas the novice provided more as the semester proceeded. Moreover, experts with a clinical medicine degree preferred direct teaching, whereas, non-clinical tutors preferred facilitating. Also, experienced tutors in the clinical medicine facilitated critical awareness than the other tutors. These results show the importance of developing a program for novice tutors to improve PBL in medical education.
This study was attempted to identify the emotional characteristics of temporomandibular disorder patients. The author applied one of the self-report modes of psychological measurement, Symptom Chechlist-90-Revision. The subjects were 219 TM disorder patients who visited the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Oral Medicine, Seoul National University Hospital during the period from December 1985 to September 1986. All the patients were divided into subgroup according sex, age, duration of symptoms, presence or absence of T-scores of each symptom dimension and global index. The obtained result were as follows : 1. Mean value of T-scores of each symptom dimension and global of the overall patients was within normal range. The two higher mean values of T-scores among 9 symptom dimensions were those of SOM and ANX. 2. Mean values of T-scores of females were higher than those of males in the O-C, DEP, ANX, HOS, PSY dimensions and all global indices, and there was a significant difference in the distribution of T-scores of the SOM dimension between males and female(P<0.05). 3. There was no significant difference between the subgroup under 30 years and the subgroup 30 years or older. 4. The subgroup with symptoms for 6 months or longer showed the higher mean values of T-scorers in the SOM, O-C, I-S, DEP, ANX, PHOB, PAR, PSY dimensions and all global indices compared with the subgroup with symptoms for shorter than 6 months. 5. The subgroup with pain showed the higher mean values of T-scores in all the symptom dimensions except the PAR in comparison with the subgroup with other complaints than pain, and there was a significant difference in the distribution of T-scores of the PST index between the pain subgroup and the non-pain subgroup(P<0.05). There was a significant difference in the distribution of T-scores of the PHOB dimension between the high-school graduates subgroup and the college graduates subgroup(P<0.05).
Background Children's Eating Behaviour Questionnaire (CEBQ) is a parents-targeted questionnaire to measure eating behavior of children, developed in United Kingdom and verified validity and reliability in several countries. Validity of Korean version of CEBQ (K-CEBQ) was verified in 2009. Objectives The study was conducted to assess the appetite improvement after herbal treatment in children who have anorexia. Methods The parents of the 26 children(anorexia 11, non-anorexia 15; $79.54{\pm}38.17$ months) who visited one university hospital was surveyed using K-CEBQ from April 2010 to April 2011. It was re-surveyed at intervals of 3 months. Differences between the anorexia group and the non-anorexia group were analyzed by Mann-Whitney U test, and comparisons of pre-treatment and post-treatment in anorexia group and non-anorexia group were verified by Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results Depends on the presence of anorexia in child, Slowness in eating/Satiety responsiveness (SE/SR), Enjoyment of food (EF), Emotional undereating (EUE) and total scores were significantly different ($p$<0.05). Also, there were significant difference in SE/SR and total scores before and after the herbal treatment in anorexia group (p<0.05), and all scores tended to increase a few. However there were no significant difference before and after the herbal treatment in non-anorexia group, and the scores except for Desire to drink (DD) and Emotional overeating (EOE) were decreased. Conclusions Herbal treatment in children who have anorexia has improved their appetite in terms of eating sensitivity.
We investigated differences in ventricular and hippocampal volumes between CSF tap test (CSFTT) responders and non-responders in idiopathic normal-pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) patients and compared these parameters in INPH patients with that of age- and gender-matched healthy controls. We also evaluated relationships between ventricular and hippocampal volumes and clinical profiles in INPH patients. We enrolled 48 patients with INPH and 29 healthy controls. Ventricular and hippocampal volumes were measured on MRI, including 3-dimensional volumetric images. INPH patients, when compared to healthy controls, had significantly larger ventricular and smaller hippocampal volumes. No difference in ventricular and hippocampal volumes was found between CSFTT responders and non-responders in INPH patients. And hippocampal volumes showed significant negative correlations with Clinical Dementia Rating Scale scores, INPH grading scale cognitive scores, Timed Up and Go Test scores, and Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale motor scores in INPH patients. Volumetric assessment of ventricular and hippocampal regions may have no predictive value in differentiating between CSFTT responders and non-responders in INPH patients. Our findings may help us understand the potential pathophysiology of unique symptoms associated with INPH.

Given the background of so-called 'the 4th industrial revolution', universities practice computing education for non-majors to equip them with computational thinking(CT). Universities apply different courses but researches analyzing effectiveness of the courses based on CT are limited. This research is conducted to understand a computing course for non-majors is effective in terms of CT. A CT based evaluation framework is designed referring to AP Computer Science Principles. Questionnaires are developed based on the framework and applied to the course participants. As results, students' post scores are significantly higher than pre scores. In addition, there are significant differences in pre-test scores by major category while there is no difference in post-test. Humanity & social science group showed the largest difference between pre and post results with science & engineering and computer in order. In sum, it is found that this course is effective to facilitate students abilities in terms of CT, particularly for the non-computer majors.
Purpose: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) prevents tissue necrosis of the brain and cardiac muscle in the cardiac arrest patient and requires exact skills in order to increase survival rate. Through comparison of the training effects of feedback manikin and non-feedback manikin, this study present the effective CPR device to CPR instructors. Method: This CPR course for 80 students by using Resusci Anne $SkillReporter^{TM}$ (RASR; Laerdal Medical, Stavanger, Norway) and Actar 911 $Squadron^{TM}$ (A911; Vital Signs, New Jersey, USA) held on December 22, 2009. Thirty seven students and two assistants were placed in one laboratory, there were five RASR manikins which provide the LED performance indicator, not the metronome. Forty two students and two assistants were placed in the other laboratory, there were 20 A911 manikins which don't provide any feedback indicator. Chest compression scores and ventilation compression scores obtaining from two groups were analysed statistically by using independent t-test. Results: Chest compression scores, average depth (mm) was 37.5 in RASR and 41.80 A911 (p=.004), too depth (#) was 2.8 in RASR and 19.4 A911 (p=.005), average number per min (#/min) was 64.4 in RASR and 68.2 A911 (p=.038), wrong hand position (#/min) was 10.9 in RASR and 30.8 A911 (p=.040). Four items that showed better scores in group RASR had statistically significant difference. Ventilation compression scores, percent correct (%) was 40.6 in RASR and 20.6 A911 (p<.001), number correct (#) was 4.7 in RASR and 2.1 A911 (p=.002), too fast (#) was 0.9 in RASR and 2.9 A911 (p=.003), average volume (ml) was 536.5 in RASR and 707.1 A911 (p=.011). Also, three items that showed better scores in group RASR had statistically significant difference. Conclusions: Regarding the positive effect of CPR training feedback, comparison between the real-time visual feedback manikin (RASR) and the non-feedback manikin (A911) showed that RASR had better results than A911 in chest compression except average number per min (it means that we need harder chest manikin) and ventilation. Verification of the training effect in the real world such as CPR outcomes is also necessary. A proper application of manikin in training circumstances and research on retention of CPR skills will be needed.
