Under the compressible circumstance of a soil deposit, the soil move downward relative to the pile. The down drag force requires higher point bearing and causes failure of a pile from time to time. In this paper the mechanism of negative skin friction on a pile, design and reduction of the negative friction is reviewed.

In this paper we obtain the complete convergence of weighted sums of asymptotically almost negatively associated random variables. Some previous known results for negatively associated random variables are generalized to asymptotically almost negative association case.

In this paper we obtain the complete moment convergence for an array of rowwise extended negative orthant dependent random variables. By using the result we can prove the complete moment convergence for some positively orthant dependent sequence satisfying the extended negative orthant dependence.

Association rule mining searches for interesting relationships among items in a given database. Association rules are frequently used by retail stores to assist in marketing, advertising, floor placement, and inventory control. There are three primary quality measures for association rule, support and confidence and lift. Association rule is an interesting rule among purchased items in transaction, but the negative association rule is an interesting rule that includes items which are not purchased. Boolean Analyzer is the method to produce the negative association rule using PIM. But, PIM is subjective. In this paper, we present statistical objective criterion in negative association rules using Boolean Analyzer.

The purpose of this research is to identify stereotypes toward the mother-in-law held by female students. Stereotypes toward the mother-in-law were examined at two levels: to assess female students' beliefs about the traits of mother-in-law and to categorize the traits into stereotypes. The main results of this study were as follows: 1) Students reported 91 traits associated with the mother-in-law. 2) Hierarchical cluster analysis of the trait groupings revealed two high-level clusters: a cluster of 42 positive traits and a cluster of 49 negative traits. Within the positive and negative clusters, 14 middle-level categories, 6 positive categories(tough, leisurely, traditional image of prudent elders, image of the eldest in the family, intimate, tolerant), and 8 negative categories(dominant, self-assertive, cold, discriminating, fearful, mean, sadistic, authoritative, nervous) were identified. This results suggested that female students believed negative stereotypes are more typical than positive ones.

We propose a pattern classification algorithm using self-nonself discrimination principle of immune cells and apply it to DNA pattern classification problem. Pattern classification problem in bioinformatics is very important and frequent one. In this paper, we propose a classification algorithm based on the negative selection of the immune system to classify DNA patterns. The negative selection is the process to determine an antigenic receptor that recognize antigens, nonself cells. The immune cells use this antigen receptor to judge whether a self or not. If one composes ${\eta}$ groups of antigenic receptor for ${\eta}$ different patterns, these receptor groups can classify into ${\eta}$ patterns. We propose a pattern classification algorithm based on the negative selection in nucleotide base level and amino acid level. Also to show the validity of our algorithm, experimental results of RNA group classification are presented.

IEEE 802.15.3 is wireless Medium Access Control(MAC) and Physical Layer(PHY) specification for high rate WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network). IEEE 802.15.3 MAC Layer provides Qos with three kinds of acknowledgements; No acknowledgement, Immediate acknowledgement, and Delayed acknowledgement. This paper presents how to improve QoS with new acknowledgement method called Delayed Negative acknowledgement. This paper describes the method of using Delayed Negative acknowledgement and presents the calculation of QoS improvement by using Delayed Negative acknowledgement.

As the temperature of liquid under negative pressure approaches the absolute zero, the nucleation process due to thermal fluctuations hardly occurs. Instead of this mechanism, quantum fluctuations may lead the formation of nucleus for new phase in metastable state. In this study, the thermal as well as quantum nucleation bubble in liquid helium under negative pressure was investigated theoretically. The energy barrier against nucleation was estimated by molecular interaction due to the Londom dispersion force. It is shown that the phase transition from liquid to vapor in is possible due to the quantum tunneling below 0.2 K for Helium-4 and 0.1 K for Helium-3, at negative pressures close to the ideal tensile strength at which every liquid molecules become bubbles simultaneously.

This paper presents a new control scheme for a DVR (Dynamic Voltage Restorer) system consisting of series voltage source PWM converters. To control the negative sequence components of the source, it is necessary to detect the negative sequence components. Generally, a filtering process is used which has some undesirable effects. This paper suggests a new method for separating positive and negative sequences components. This control system is designed using differential controllers and digital filters. The positive and negative sequences are extracted and controlled individually. The performance of the presented controller and scheme are confirmed through simulation and actual experiment with a 2.5kVA prototype DVR system.
