Evaluation of Organization and Use of Data Model for Structural Experiment Information (구조실험정보를 위한 데이터 모델의 구성 및 사용성 평가)

  • The data model for structural experiment information formally organizes the information involved in the structural experiments before the data repository using the data model is implemented. The data model is particularly required for the data repositories for the large-scale structural experiment information and the general information for various types of experiments, such as the NEEShub Project Warehouse developed by NEES. This paper proposes criteria for evaluating the organization and the use of design model for structural experiment information. The term of AVE(attribute value existence) indicates the ratio of attributes who values exist in objects, and then used for defining the Attribute AVE for the use of an attribute, the Class AVE for a class, the Class Level AVE for a class including its lower-level classes, the Project AVE for a project including all classes at class levels, and the Data Model AVE for a data model including projects. These criteria are applied to the projects in the NEES data model, and it is successively possible to numerically describe the evaluation of the use of classes and attributes in the data model.

Unrecorded Liverwort Species from Mt. Deogyu, Korea (덕유산의 한국산 미기록 태류식물)

  • A total of ten unrecorded liverwort species in the Hepaticae flora of Korea were collected on Mt. Deogyu (1,614 m). The ten species are Tetralophozia filiformis (Steph.) Urmi., Herbertus buchii $Jusl{\acute{e}n$, Bazzania japonica (Sande Lac.) Lindb., Cephaloziella hampeana (Nees) Schiffner ex Loeske., Jungermannia japonica Amak., Marsupella alpina (Gott. ex Husn.) Bernet., Pedinophyllum interruptum (Nees) Kaal., Frullania polyptera Tayl., Jubula hutchinsiae ssp. javanica (Steph.) Verd., and Marchantia polymorpha ssp. montivagans Bischl. and Boisselier-Dubayle. They are distributed near streams and/or at the top of a ridge on Mt. Deogyu.

Direct Determination of Uric Acid in Human Serum Samples Using Polypyrrole Nanoelectrode Ensembles

  • Polypyrrole (PPy) nanotubes have been synthesized by chemical oxidative polymerization of pyrrole within the pores of polycarbonate membrane using the technology of diffusion of solutes. The nanotubes array prepared by the proposed method can be considered as nanoelectrode ensembles (NEEs). An amperometric uric acid sensor based on PPy NEEs has been developed and used for determination of uric acid in human serum samples. The electrode can direct response to uric acid at potential of 0.60V vs. SCE with wide linear range of $1.52{\times}10^{-6}\;to\;1.54{\times}10^{-3}\;M.\;The\;detection\;limit\;is \;3.02{\times}10^{-7}$ M. This sensor has been used to determine uric acid in real serum samples. PPy NEEs is thought of as a good application in the foreground.

A new record of Eleocharis parvula (Roem. & Schult.) Bluff, Nees & Schauer (Cyperaceae) in Korea (한국 미기록 식물: 갯바늘골(사초과))

  • Eleocharis parvula (Roem. & Schult.) Bluff, Nees & Schauer (Cyperaceae), was found in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon Metropolitan City in Korea. This species is distinguished from related taxa in Korea by its small fusiform tubers, culms without septa when dry, 3-fid stigmas and style base confluent with the apex of achene. This taxon was named 'Gaet-ba-neul-gol' in Korean based on its habitat. We provide its description, illustrations, photographs and a key to the related taxa in Korea.

  • Recent field and herbarium studies have yielded three vascular plant taxa of the family Poaceae that have been documented in Korea. All of the three species, collected from Jeolla-do and adjacent areas, were introduced and naturalized. Three species are identified as Vulpia bromoides (L.) Gray, Agrostis capillaris L. and Eragrostis pectinacea (Michx.) Nees. We provide the descriptions and descriptive photos of these species. Keys to the newly recorded species and related taxa are also provided.

  • In the present study, one species of the subfamily Doryctinae, Spathius depressithorax Belokobylskij, 1998, is reported for the first time from Korea. A diagnosis and photographs for the species are provided. Also, a total of 13 species of the genus Spathius Nees, 1819 known from Korea is presented with synonymies and distributional ranges.

  • Two common Indian spices Carum copticum Karst (ajowan) and Cinnamomum tamala T.Nees. (bay leaves) has been investigated first time to report the activity on the central nervous system. Preliminary study of the hot water extract showed depressant activity on the hole board test as evidenced from the ambulation and head dipping scores. The extracts further quicken the onset and increased the duration of pentobarbital induced sleeping time.

  • The ethanolic (50% v/v) extracts of Peristrophe bicalyculata Nees. (Acanthaceae) were examined for anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities in experimental animals. P. bicalyculata in doses of 50, 100 and 200 mg/kg caused a dose dependent inhibition of swelling caused by carrageenin equivalent to 12.25-24.49% protection and 16.62-39.44% in cotton pellet induced granuloma in rats. There was a significant increase in the tail-flick reaction time in mice (18.05-76.43% protection) and analgesy-meter induced pain in rats (14.49-56.85%) protection). The extract of P. bicalyculata resulted in an inhibition of stretching episodes and the protection range of 14.49-56.85% respectively in acetic acid induced writhing.

  • 1. This study was made on the flora of Hepaticae in the crater of Mt. Hanla ($33^{\circ}$20' N. Lat. $126^{\circ}$4' E. Long), Isl. Quelpart. 2. the total fo the occurring species of the crater are twelve, out of which the following 6 species are new to the Korean flora. (1) Bazzania tricrenata (Wahlenb.) Trev. (2) Plagiochila satoi Hatt. (3) Scapania ampliata St. (4) Radula boryana (Web.) Nees. (5) Cololejeunea kodamae Kamimura. (6) C. macounii (Spruce) Evans. 3. The hepaticae flora of the crater consists of the following elements: Holarctic element. 4 species (33%), East Asiatic element. 2. species (16%), Korean-Japan element. 5. species (41%), North-Pacific element. 1 species (8%).
