Real-Time Control of Networked Control Systems via Ethernet

  • In this paper, we discuss real-time control of networked control systems (NCSs) and practical issues in the choice of the communication networks for this purpose. An appropriate integration of control systems, real-time environments, and network communication systems allows the optimization of the quality-of-control (QoC) in NCSs. We compare several prevailing network types that may be used in control applications to offer a guideline of choosing a proper network. A real-time operating environment is also presented as an important ingredient of NCS design. To evaluate its feasibility and effectiveness, a real-time NCS containing a ball magnetic levitation (Maglev) setup is implemented via an Ethernet. Based on the experimental results, it is concluded in this paper that real-time control via Ethernet is a practical and feasible solution to NCS design.

  • Networked Control Systems(NCS) contain the structure which controllers, actuators and sensors are connected to communication network. And they have been adopted in large and complicated plant area due to the advantages of mitigating computational bottleneck and maintenance. Although this structure provides many benefits, it brings in problems of unpredictable communication delay, data loss and corruption. This phenomena have to be considered in designing NCSs since it affects on overall control system stability. This paper introduces network traffic test method for ethernet based NCSs to find out maximum network usage which guarantee stable control operation. Test results shows this methods can be adopted in various types of NCSs and contributes economical system design and effective system operation.

  • Demand for the technology for access to device control network in industry and for access to building automation system via internet is on the increase. In such technology integration of a device control network with a data network such as internet and organizing wide-ranging DCS(distributed control system) is needed, and it can be realized in the framework of VDN(virtual device network). Specifications for device control network and data network are quite different because of the differences in application. So a router that translates the communication protocol between device control network and data network, and efficiently transmits information to destination is needed for implementation of the VDN(virtual device network). This paper proposes the concept of NCS(networked control system) based on VDN(virtual device network) and suggests the routing algorithm that uses embedded system.

  • In recent years, the case to install small water treatment facility to every local area has increased. A key issue in the successful implementation of the control systems for the water treatment plants is the choice of control architecture. Within the framework of distributed control system(DCS), this paper presents a new development of intelligent control module and its novel application to open control architecture for water treatment plants. This control system so called NCS(Network Based Control System) with standard networks system with LonTalks protocol of ANSI/EIA 709.1, regulatory control function and information dispatch function has suitable functionality to operate these distributed water treatment facility effectively. This paper describes the case where NCS is applied for the filters system in water treatment facility of Heong Sung area.

NCS 조경 분야 적용을 위한 4년제 대학 교육과정 현황분석 (A Study on the Present Condition of Four-Year University Curriculum for Introducing NCS Landscape Architecture)

  • 본 연구는 사회적 이슈로 부각된 NCS가 실업계 고등학교 및 전문대를 제외한 4년제 대학 조경학과 교육과정 편성에 일부 도입되고 있는 시점에서 향후 조경 분야 NCS의 합리적인 수정·보완을 위한 기초연구의 일환으로 NCS 능력단위 체계와 4년제 대학 조경학과 교육과정(커리큘럼)을 비교분석하였다. 먼저 통폐합되지 않은 4년제 대학 조경학과 24개소의 816개 교육과정에 대한 매칭작업과 이를 바탕으로 한 분야별 전문가 FGI(focus group interview : 표적집단면접법)를 통해 대-중-소분류를 실시하였다. 그 결과 3개 항목의 대분류, 8개 항목의 중분류, 65개 항목의 세부분류가 도출되었으며, 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 4년제 대학에서 구성된 교과목 중 조경설계 과목이 차지하는 비중이 40.0%로 나타났다. 그 외 생태조경 12.9%, 조경시공 11.3%, 기타 유형에 분류되지 않은 과목 10.2%, 조경정보 10.0%, 조경문화 6.6%, 조경관리 3.7%의 비율로 조사되었다. 추후 NCS의 균형적이고 효율적 수정·보완이 요구되는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, NCS 수행준거와 교육목표가 서로 일치하는 소분류 항목은 10개(18.9%), 불일치하는 소분류 항목은 15개(28.3%), NCS 단위능력과 불일치하는 교과목은 총 37과목(56.9%)으로 파악되었다. 셋째, NCS에서 제시한 각 능력 단위의 준거기준은 기초적인 지식학습에 대한 내용을 포함하고 있어, 실무능력 향상을 위해 기초이론내용은 하나의 능력단위가 별도로 개발되어야 할 것으로 판단된다. 넷째, NCS능력 단위와 4년제 대학 교육과정의 내용을 바탕으로 추구하는 목표는 NCS의 기준은 조경설계 분야에 비해 조경시공과 조경관리 분야의 단위능력에 집중하여 개발된 것으로 나타났으며, 추후 4년제 대학 교육과정 편성에 선수과목의 균형에 대한 고려가 요구된다. 본 연구는 교육과정 유형분류 과정에서 각 학교별 간섭요인을 배제한 교육과정편람에 우선 기준하여 분류함에 따라 표면적인 용어에 함축된 세부 과정이 분류군에 포함되지 못한 구체적인 교육과정 평가기준의 재검토와 기준항목간의 적합성 연구는 추후 과제로 남기고자 한다.

산학일체형 도제학교 도제프로그램의 NCS 기반 교육과정 편성 현황 분석 연구 (A Study of Analysis NCS-based Curriculum Organization of the Apprenticeship Program of Vocational Education and Training High Schools Participating in the Apprenticeship System)

  • 이 연구에서는 산학일체형 도제학교의 도제프로그램이 NCS 기반 교육과정에 어떻게 편성되었는지를 분석하여 도제학교의 도제프로그램 개발과 도제교육과정 편성 및 평가 방안에 대한 정책적 제언을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 전국의 산학일체형 도제학교 159개 학교 186개 과정의 도제 부장교사에게 조사지를 송부하였으며, 116개 학교의 141개 과정(75.8%)에 대한 현황 자료를 분석하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 도제프로그램 편성시간은 평균 1054.2시간(62.0단위)이고, 도제프로그램은 학교교육과정에서 12.4개 과목으로 편성되었는데 그 중에서 실무과목은 9.6개(77.5%)였다. 과목의 NCS 능력단위별 평가 정도는 '교과 내용 전체를 능력단위별 평가'(80.1%), '교과 내용 일부를 능력단위별 평가'(14.4%), '능력단위와 무관하게 평가'(5.6%)의 순이었다. 둘째, 학교교육과정 교과목의 편성 시간이 도제프로그램 능력단위의 편성 시간보다 많거나 같은 과목(바람직한 경우)은 평균 11.5개(93.1%), 그렇지 않은 과목은 평균 0.9개(6.9%)였다. 그리고 학교교육과정 교과목의 편성 내용이 도제프로그램 능력단위의 내용을 포함하는 과목(바람직한 경우)은 평균 10.6개(85.8%), 그렇지 않은 과목은 평균 1.8개(14.2%)였다. 셋째, 과목의 공통능력단위/학생선택능력단위 편성 현황을 분석한 결과, 공통능력 단위만으로 편성된 과목은 8.5개(68.5%), 학생선택능력단위가 편성된 과목은 3.9개(31.5%)로 나타났다. 이 연구의 결과에 터하여 도제프로그램 개발과 도제교육과정 편성 및 평가 방안에 대한 정책적 제언으로 시 도교육청의 교육과정 변경 승인 기간 유예 적용, 시 도교육청의 교육과정 점검 및 컨설팅 강화, 국가수준 교육과정에 기업특화과목(가칭) 또는 학생선택과목(가칭) 신설을 제안하였다.

PXI embedded real-time controller를 이용한 Bimodal-tram Simulator (Bimodal-tram Simulator using PXI Embedded Real-time Controllers)

  • In this paper we present the Bimodal-tram simulator using the PXI embedded real-time controllers. The Bimodal-tram is developed in KRRI (Korea Railroad Research Institute). The vehicle can be automatically operated by navigation control system (NCS). For the automatic driving, the vehicle lanes will be marked with permanent magnets that are placed in the ground. The vehicle is controlled by NCS. NCS governs the manual mode and automatic mode driving. The simulator is designed by an identical conception with the real control condition. The dynamic motion of vehicle is simulated by the nonlinear dynamic model. The control computer calculates the control values. The signal interface is linked by CAN communication. The simulation is processed by real-time base. The test driver can see the graphic motion of vehicle and can operate the steering wheel, gas and brake pedal to control direction and velocity of vehicle during the simulation. At present, the simulator is only operated by manual mode. The automatic mode will be linked after the control algorithm is finished. We will use the simulator to develop the control algorithm in the automatic mode. This paper shows the simulator designed for Bimodal-tram using real-time based controller. The results of the test using the simulator are presented and discussed.

한국 기층문화의 전통복식에 나타난 오방색 특성 (The Characteristics of Five-elements Color of Traditional Costume of Korean Basic Culture)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine a unique characteristic of the colors of the costumes in Korean basic culture in the aim of seeking Five-elements color found in Korean civilian's costume culture. The scope of Korean basic culture was 32 items specified as an import intangible cultural asset in the side of religion and art for the majority of the Korean people. Within these limits, the colors of the dress, accessories, instruments were extracted by comparing with the naked eye in NCS Color System. The result of this investigation was that Red was yellowish red and high chromatic and deep tone within 4area. Blue was purplish blue and high chromatic and deep tone within 4area, similarly Red. Yellow was pure yellow and high chromatic and bright tone within 3area. Red and Blue in Korean basic culture were more primary color and more high brightness than Korean traditional colors. Religion and art fer Korean civilian revealing the Korean basic culture reflected impending real-life of Korean civilian who intend to overcome their desperate reality at using Five-elements color in their costume.

Nonlinear Networked Control Systems with Random Nature using Neural Approach and Dynamic Bayesian Networks

  • We propose an intelligent predictive control approach for a nonlinear networked control system (NCS) with time-varying delay and random observation. The control is given by the sum of a nominal control and a corrective control. The nominal control is determined analytically using a linearized system model with fixed time delay. The corrective control is generated online by a neural network optimizer. A Markov chain (MC) dynamic Bayesian network (DBN) predicts the dynamics of the stochastic system online to allow predictive control design. We apply our proposed method to a satellite attitude control system and evaluate its control performance through computer simulation.

기계 시스템 생산 작업관리자 직무 분석에 의한 안전직무교육 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of Safety Duty Education According to Production Manager Job Analysis in the Mechanical System)

  • As the demand for automation (or autonmation) or clean workplace has grown, the interest in the knowledge and skill regarding safety is rising in manager duty. Moreover, the importance of severity rate of injury has increased due to the enlargement of industry scale, even safety management area has developed. Thus, it is important that production managers, the core of the line process, realize the safety in their production line, even if a safety manager acts as a staff. However, in the duty oriented National Competency Standard (NCS), the education about the safety duty of production management part is insufficient. According to NCS, it is calculated production managers receive only 6.7% of whole safety education regarding the duty related the safety management for production manager in mechanical industry. However, the ability in safety is more demanded from production managers as the concept of "production and safety" turns into the concept of "production with safety". And then in this paper, we will compare and analyze the safety management duty in Korean NCS and the safety management duty in State Leaders Connecting Learning to Work in US manufacturing industry, in terms of the duty of the production manage in mechanical industry (05). And, we will develop the safety duty education system for production manager, by classifying the safety education in domestic mechanical industry into knowledge education, skill education, and attitude education with using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process).
