호밀녹비 이용 시 중질소($^{15}N$)를 이용한 질소원 유래별 콩의 집적질소 분획추정 (Estimation of Soybean N Fraction Derived from N Sources by $^{15}N$ in Soybean Cultivation with Rye as Green Manure)

  • 월동 후 녹비용 호밀에 시용한 질소가 콩의 질소고정 및 흡수에 미치는 효과를 보기 위하여, 2004년 온실 및 2005년 포장에서 포트시험을 통해 시비질소량별 토양, 호밀 및 콩의 질소회수율을 조사하였다. 1. 2004년 온실폿트 시험에서는 호밀에 시용한 질소비료 량이 증가할수록 호밀지상부가 토양에서보다 질소비료로부터 질소를 흡수하는 비율이 증가하였다. 호밀이 없는 조건에서는 논흙이 밭흙보다 콩의 건물 중 및 질소흡수량이 현저히 증가하였는데, 지력이 높았던 논흙에서는 밭흙에 비해 콩이 질소고정 유래 질소의 비율이 상대적으로 낮아지고 토양유래 질소의 비율이 높았다. 2. 밭흙에서 무녹비와 대비하였을 때 호밀녹비 이용 시의 콩 시비질소회수율은 낮았지만 토양의 시비질소회수율(질소유기화)이 높아 전체회수율은 높았으며, 또 호밀녹비 이용시 콩의 시비질소회수율은 호밀에 대한 질소시용량이 많을수록 증가하였다. 3. 2004년 온실포트 실험에서의 콩의 근류고정유래의 질소비율은 약 $92{\sim}95%$로 2005년 포장포트에서의 $82{\sim}84%$보다 약 10% 정도 높았으며, 콩의 근류고정유래 질소량 및 질소량 분획 추정에서는 2년 모두 Difference method와 $^{15}N$ method간 차이를 보이지 않았다.

악골 골절에서 술 후 교합압 및 근전도 변화 (OCCLUSAL FORCE AND EMG CHANGE OF MANDIBULAR FRACTURE)

  • Bite force is created by the force of adjacent teeth accompanied with tension of masticatory muscle. The bite force value is greater in male than in female and ha maximum value at first molar. Masseter muscle is associated with bite force and during muscle contraction the electric signal is expressed in EMG form. The aim of the study is to assess recovery time for masseter muscle activity and according to each part of bite force after open reduction with internal fixation when mandibular angle fracture and subcondyle fracture occurred. And to determine the appropriate period for mandibular fracture patients to have normal masticatory activity. 30 patients with normal bite condition was selected for control group and from April, 2007 to September, 2007, 20 patients who visited our department of oral and maxillofacial surgery of Dankook University, were selected for the study and were diagnosed as mandibular angle fracture and subcondyle fracture. For control group, the bite force for incisors, canine, premolars and molars and activity of the masseter muscle was measured and compared for 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 weeks. That was divided as fracture side and normal side. Mann-Whitney U test was performed for significant difference and the following result was obtained. 1. The maximum voluntary bite force for incisors, canine, premolars and molars portion were 0.113 kN, 0.182kN, 0.295kN and 0.486kN and the masseter muscle activity was 0.192 volts in the control group. 2. The maximum bite force at fracture side was recovered by 4th weeks for incisors, 6th weeks for canine and premolars and 8th weeks for molars and the masseter muscle activity was recovered by 6th weeks in the experimental group. 2. The maximum bite force at normal side was recovered by 4th weeks for incisors, 6th weeks for canine, premolars and molars and the masseter muscle activity was recovered by 3rd weeks in the experimental group. 3. The method for internal fixation by 2.0mm miniplates at both superior and inferior border had no complications according for twenty patients and had a satisfactory recovery. According to the result, patient with mandibular angle fracture and subcondyle fracture, 8 weeks was required for bite force recovery. Therefore, patients with open reduction and internal fixation under general anesthesis, it can be assumed that 8 weeks was needed after operation in order to have normal bite force and masseter muscle recovery.

The effect of fixation plate use on bone healing during the reconstruction of mandibular defects

  • Objectives: This study sought to compare efficiency results between the use of a customized implant (CI) and a reconstruction plate (RP) in mandibular defect reconstruction in an animal model. Materials and Methods: Fifteen rabbits underwent surgery to create a defect in the right side of the mandible and were randomly divided into two groups. For reconstruction of the mandibular defect, the RP group (n=5) received five-hole mini-plates without bone grafting and the CI group (n=10) received fabricated CIs based on the cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) data taken preoperatively. The CI group was further divided into two subgroups depending on the time of CBCT performance preoperatively, as follows: a six-week CI (6WCI) group (n=5) and a one-week CI (1WCI) group (n=5). Daily food intake amount (DFIA) was measured to assess the recovery rate. Radiographic images were acquired to evaluate screw quantity. CBCT and histological examination were performed in the CI subgroup after sacrifice. Results: The 1WCI group showed the highest value in peak average recovery rate and the fastest average recovery rate. In terms of reaching a 50% recovery rate, the 1WCI group required the least number of days as compared with the other groups ($2.6{\pm}1.3days$), while the RP group required the least number of days to reach an 80% recovery rate ($7.8{\pm}2.2days$). The 1WCI group showed the highest percentage of intact screws (94.3%). New bone formation was observed in the CI group during histological examination. Conclusion: Rabbits with mandibular defects treated with CI showed higher and faster recovery rates and more favorable screw status as compared with those treated with a five-hole mini-plate without bone graft.

Comparison between Intramedullary Nailing and Percutaneous K-Wire Fixation for Fractures in the Distal Third of the Metacarpal Bone

  • Background To compare clinical and radiographic outcomes between intramedullary nail fixation and percutaneous K-wire fixation for fractures in the distal third portion of the metacarpal bone. Methods A single-institutional retrospective review identified 41 consecutive cases of metacarpal fractures between September 2009 and August 2013. Each of the cases met the inclusion criteria for closed, extra-articular fractures of the distal third of the metacarpal bone. The patients were divided by the method of fixation (intramedullary nailing or K-wire). Outcomes were compared for mean and median total active motion of the digit, radiographic parameters, and period until return to work. Complications and symptoms were determined by a questionnaire. Results During the period under review, 41 patients met the inclusion criteria, and the fractures were managed with either intramedullary nailing (n=19) or percutaneous K-wire fixation (n=22). The mean and median total active range of motion and radiographic healing showed no statistically significant difference between the two groups. No union failures were observed in either group. The mean operation time was shorter by an average of 14 minutes for the percutaneous K-wire fixation group. However, the intramedullary nailing group returned to work earlier by an average of 2.3 weeks. Complications were reported only in the K-wire fixation group. Conclusions Intramedullary nailing fixation is advisable for fractures in the distal third of the metacarpal bone. It provides early recovery of the range of motion, an earlier return to work, and lower complication rates, despite potentially requiring a wire removal procedure at the patient's request.

라디에타소나무 열압밀화 목재의 경도와 치수안정성 - 압체 온도와 시간의 영향 - (Hardness and Dimensional Stability of Radiata Pine (Pinus radiata D.Don) Heat-Compressed Wood - Effect of Press Temperature & Time -)

  • 라디에타 소나무(Pinus radiata D.Don)를 이용하여 압체 온도와 시간에 따른 압밀화 목재의 경도와 치수안 정성을 조사하였다. 압체 온도가 상승함에 따라 표면경도도 함께 증가하였다. 열압체 시간 30분을 기준으로 압체 온도 $70^{\circ}C$에서는 경도 값이 5.0 N/$mm^2$, $220^{\circ}C$에서 15.6 N/$mm^2$으로 312% 향상되었으며, 60분에서는 313%, 90분에서는 224% 향상되는 것으로 나타났다. 치수회복실험 결과 열압체 온도가 상승함에 따라 치수고정효과는 상승한 반면 압체 시간의 증가에 의한 치수고정효과는 미약하였다. 접촉각 측정결과 압체 온도와 시간의 증가와 함께 접촉각도 증가했으며 압체 온도 $220^{\circ}C$에서는 $90^{\circ}$ 이상의 접촉각을 나타내어 표면이 소수성을 나타냄을 알 수 있었다.

골반 골절의 수술적 교정을 실시한 31두 개에서의 후향연구 (Retrospective Study on Surgical Repair of 31 Canine Pelvic Fracture Cases)

  • 본 조사는 골반골절을 수술적으로 교정한 31두 개에서의 결과를 분석한 것이다. 파행과 부중의 정도가 후지의 기능개선 평가에 이용되었다. 단순골절은 천장관절과 장골에서 발생하였으며, 골반골절은 관골절구의 골절을 포함하는 것과 포함하지 않는 경우가 있었다. 관골절구의 골절은 추가적인 대퇴골 머리 및 목 절제술 또는 관골절구 둘레 고정 만을 실시하였다. 단순골절은 복합골절에 비해 초기 회복시간과 완전한 회복시간 모두 짧았다. 관골절구를 포함하지 않는 골절에서는 포함한 골절에 비해 회복시간이 유의적으로 짧았다(p < 0.05). 또한 대퇴골 머리 및 목 절제술을 추가로 실시한 경우에서 실시하지 않은 것 보다 짧은 회복시간을 보였다. 소형견에서 관골절구의 골절 발생 시 대퇴골 머리 및 목 절제술을 이용한 수술적 교정은 대체 가능한 방법으로 생각된다.

Epoxy수지에 의한 견직물의 Sericin정착 (Fixation of Sericin of Silk Fabric by Epoxy Resin)

  • 수용성염의 존재하에서 여러 가지 용매상에 소정시간, 소정온도로 epoxy수지에 의한 견직물의 sericin정착을 행하였다. Potassium thiocyanate염의 촉매하에서 glycero1 glycidyl ether(EX-313)와 ethylene glycol diglycidylether(EX-810)의 4염화탄소용액중에서의 반응에서 높은 수지부착률을 얻었으며, 정착효과가 뛰어난 것을 알 수 있었다. 얻어진 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 사용한 두 수지는 반응 거동이 유사하였으며, EX-810이 수지부착률이나 정착효과면에서 뛰어 났다. 2. 수지부착률은 반응온도나 반응미간에 따라 증가하였고, 90분 7$0^{\circ}C$에서 연감률은 평형에 도달하였다. 3. 수지부착률과 연감률은 3~5%의 수지농도에서 평형에 달하였다. 4. 촉매의 N농도에 따라 부착률은 현저하게 증가하고 0.5N에서 연감률은 평형에 달하였다. 5. 침지시간의 증가와 더불어 부착률은 완만하게 증가하지만 연감률은 15분간 침지에 평형에 도달하였다. 6. 건조온도의 영향은 없는 것으로 보인다. 7. 수분율의 감소는 미약하여, epoxy 수지에 의한 sericin 정착시 수분율을 유지할 수 있는 가능성을 시사하는 것이라 생각된다. 8. 소수성이 강한 용매인 4염화탄소, p-chloroeth-ylene, cyclohexane, xylene, toluene 등이 정착효과가 뛰어남을 알 수 있다. 9. Sericin 정착포의 물성을 시험한 결과 정착효과가 뛰어날 수록, 유연도는 감소하고, 방추도도 감소하며 강도와 신도는 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Comparison of Mechanical Stability between Fibular Free Flap Reconstruction versus Locking Mandibular Reconstruction Plate Fixation

  • Background: The fibular free flap has been used as the standard methods of segmental mandibular reconstruction. The objective of mandibular reconstruction not only includes restored continuity of the mandible but also the recovery of optimal function. This paper emphasizes the advantage of the fibular free flap reconstruction over that of locking mandibular reconstruction plate fixation. Methods: The hospital charts of all patients (n=20) who had a mandibular reconstruction between 1994 and 2013 were retrospectively reviewed. Eight patients had plateonly fixation of the mandible, and the remaining 12 had vascularized fibular free flap reconstruction. Complications and outcomes were reviewed and compared between the 2 groups via statistical analysis. Results: Overall complication rates were significantly lower in the fibular flap group (8.3%) than in the plate fixation group (87.5%; p =0.001). Most (7/8) patients in the plate fixation group had experienced plate-related late complications, including plate fracture or exposure. In the fibular flap group, no complications were observed, except for a single case of donor-site wound dehiscence (1/12). Conclusion: The fibular free flap provides a more stable support and additional soft tissue support for the plate, thereby minimizing the risk of plate-related complications. Fibular free flap is the most reliable option for mandibular reconstruction, and we believe that the flap should be performed primarily whenever possible.

Chromium(III) recovery from tanning wastewater by adsorption on activated carbon and elution with sulfuric acid

  • Chromium(III) recovery from tanning wastewater by means of adsorption on activated carbon and elution with sulfuric acid was studied. Tests were carried out at laboratory scale on an effluent of industrial origin. Initially, proteinaceous materials and fats were separated via sieving followed by ultrafiltration. The chemical composition of the sample thus precleansed was (in g/L): 1.09 chromium(III); 10.36 sulfate; 11.10 sodium; 9.57 chloride; 0.40 proteinaceous materials; and 0.20 fats. Adsorptions were made at 20, 30, and $40^{\circ}C$, establishing what temperature favored chromium(III) uptake. At $40^{\circ}C$, the maximum cation fixation was 40.2 mg/g, and the lowest content in an equilibrium solution was 3.9 mg/L. As regards sodium, chloride, and sulfate, the concentrations before and after the treatment were similar. Likewise, it was found that protons were also retained, modifying the pH of the liquid medium. Adsorption isotherms were analyzed using the Langmuir, Temkin, and Freundlich models. Finally, the extraction of the adsorbed tanning agent with sulfuric acid was evaluated. A recovery of 96.5% was achieved with 0.9 N at $70^{\circ}C$ (13.23 g/L $Cr^{3+}$; 42.98 g/L sulfate; and 0.40 g/L NaCl).

Increased Salinity Tolerance of Cowpea Plants by Dual Inoculation of an Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungus Glomus clarum and a Nitrogen-fixer Azospirillum brasilense

  • Pot greenhouse experiments were carried out to attempt to increase the salinity tolerance of one of the most popular legume of the world; cowpea; by using dual inoculation of an Am fungus Glomus clarum and a nitrogen-fixer Azospirillum brasilense. The effect of these beneficial microbes, as single- or dual inoculation-treatments, was assessed in sterilized loamy sand soil at five NaCl levels ($0.0{\sim}7.\;2ds/m$) in irrigating water. The results of this study revealed that percentage of mycorrhizal infection, plant height, dry weight, nodule number, protein content, nitrogenase and phosphatase activities, as well as nutrient elements N, P, K, Ca, Mg were significantly decreased by increasing salinity level in non-mycorrhized plants in absence of NFB. Plants inoculated with NFB showed higher nodule numbers, protein content, nitrogen concentration and nitrogenase activities than those of non-inoculated at all salinity levels. Mycorrhized plants exhibited better improvement in all measurements than that of non-mycorrhized ones at all salinity levels, especially, in the presence of NFB. The concentration of $Na^+$ was significantly accumulated in cowpea plants by rising salinity except in shoots of mycorrhizal plants which had $K^+/Na^+$ ratios higher than other treatments. This study indicated that dual inoculation with Am fungi and N-fixer Azospirillum can support both needs for N and P, excess of NaCl and will be useful in terms of soil recovery in saline area.
