본고는 중국 뮤지컬 역사상 최초로 세계 뮤지컬 시장에 진출한 <디에>의 마케팅 성공요인을 분석하였고, <디에>의 성공이 중국 뮤지컬 발전에 끼친 긍정적인 영향들을 조사하였다. 먼저 뮤지컬 마케팅의 중요한 다섯가지 요소를 분석기준으로 정하였고, 이를 통해 중국 뮤지컬 <디에>의 성공 원인을 분석한 결과 '포지셔닝', '티켓 프로모션', 'PR 전략', '프로듀서', 'OSMU' 기법 등에 있어서 체계적인 전략 수립에 의한 마케팅 추진이 이루어졌음을 도출해낼 수 있었다. 중국 뮤지컬에 있어서 <디에>의 사례는 전문적인 마케팅에 의한 최초의 성공사례라고 볼 수 있으며, 이 같은 성과의 영향으로 중국 정부와 지자체의 뮤지컬 지원 제도들이 수립되었고 최근 몇 년 간 중국 뮤지컬은 질적인 면과 산업적인 면에서 빠르게 성장하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해 중국 뮤지컬과 관련된 더 많은 학술 연구가 이루어지길 기대하며, 향후 작품성과 상품성을 고루 갖춘 뮤지컬 작품이 창출되는데 기여할 수 있는 자료로 쓰여 지는 것이 본 연구의 목적이다.

Objectives : This study aims to find out comparative results from Sasang Constitutional Medicine, Eight Constitution and Five Elements Constitution. Methods : Searching the records, papers, documents and analyzing. Results and Conclusions : Sasang Constitutional Medicine Theory is organized with Taeyang, Taeum, Soyang, Soum. Eight Constitution is classified mokyang, Mokum, Toyang, Toum, Keumyang, Keumum, Suyang, Suum. and Five Elements Constitution is explained to Yin Yang and Five Elements.

This study examines the stage costumes of the creative musical 'Hyecho', which was performed six times in the Chung Ang Art Center hosted by Chung-Ang University's performance & media agency from December 20 to 22 in 2006. The stage costumes were made based on these basic design elements of stage costumes that were dyed : line, silhouette, material, and color. First, the creative musical 'Hyecho' presents a new form of fusion theatre, which blends Korean traditional music and dance with videos. Thereby, the musical has opened a new phase in Korea's creative performing arts. Second, in musical performances that combines dance and songs, stage costumes should be made not only to attract the audience's eyes, but also not to interrupt actors' vocalizations and movements by taking their physical features into account. Also, costumes should be made in consideration of their relationships with visual elements, including stage settings and lighting. Third, the musical features fusion-style stage costumes, which combines Hanbok, the Korean traditional costume, and Indian traditional costumes with modern costumes. For the line and silhouette, costumes show the beauty of curves through the curves of Hanbok and India's traditional costumes and also through irregular pleats of pants. Also, by using cotton materials, which is easy to dye and not readily deformed, costumes feature colors that are found in nature through a gradation dyeing technique. In doing so, it offers visual amusement to the audience by making stage costumes look like a beautiful painting. Fourth, the stage costumes of the chorus feature costumes that use lining and pleated skirts using belts, and various accessories, including necklaces that use strings in order to express evil spirits. Since there is not much time to change costumes during a performance, using such items are helpful to show the unique characteristics of actors effectively during the limited time. Also, coordinating with the lighting director allows the costume designer to make better costumes for the chorus and make the performance more dramatic. Finally, it was not necessary to wash the costumes of the chorus of the fusion musical Hyecho 2006 since it was performed only six times. However, when using dyed costumes for the long-term performance, it might cause problems such as bleaching that result from the washing of costumes and low durability that can result in the deformation of costumes. As performing arts are made in various forms and are diversified, it is needed for stage costumes to change accordingly through new attempts and various ways of expression.

이 연구는 대학생들을 위한 스트레스 감소 음악프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료로서 대학생들의 스트레스 대처 전략에 따라 음악활동과 음악선호가 어떠한가를 알아보기 위한 것이었다. 대학생 168명의 자료를 사용하여 스트레스 대처 전략, 음악활동과 음악선호에 대한 설문조사를 실시 하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생들은 보통 이상의 스트레스를 경험하고 있었으며 스트레스 대처 전략은 문제중심적 대처, 사회적지지 추구 대처, 소망적 사고 대처, 정서완화적 대처순이었다. 성별에 따라 대처전략은 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 대학생들은 음악감상을 가장 많이 하고 가장 선호하였다. 선호하는 활동은 성별, 대처전략에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며 많이 하는 활동은 음악전공 유무에 따라 차이가 있었다. 또한 활동의 목적에 있어서도 악기연주의 경우 성별, 학년에 따라 통계적으로 차이가 있었으며 작곡의 경우는 음악전공 유무에 따라 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 대학생들은 대중음악을 가장 선호하였으며 선호하는 장르도 성별, 음악전공 유무에 따라 차이가 있었다. 선호하는 음악요인에 있어서도 멜로디, 소리크기, 가사주제에 대해서는 성별에 따라 차이가 있었으며 화성과 친숙도는 음악전공 유무에 따라 차이가 있었다. 한편, 리듬, 음색, 감상방법에 대해서는 대처 전략에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었다.

필자는 현재 국내에서 제작되는 뮤지컬 공연의 절대 다수를 차지하는 라이선스 뮤지컬의 연출방법에 대한 연구를 통해, 어떻게 국내 관객들에게 오리지널 뮤지컬 프로덕션 그대로를 전달할 수 있는가에 대한 해답과, 문화적 언어적 차이로 인해 전달이 불가능한 부분을 국내 환경에 맞게 어떻게 새롭게 창작할 수 있는가의 가능성, 그를 통해 오리지널 공연을 진정한 한국적 프로덕션으로 정착시키는 것이 라이선스 공연의 본질임을 확인하는 연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구를 위해 필자가 한국연출을 맡았던 2009년 <드림걸즈> 한국 프로덕션(2009년 3월 ~ 8월, 샤롯데 씨어터)을 중심사례로 다루고자 한다. <드림걸즈>를 주된 예로 사용하고자 하는 이유는, 30년 만에 새롭게 재창작되는 라이선스 뮤지컬 프로덕션으로서 다양한 연출적 시도를 생생한 사례를 통해 보여줄 수 있기 때문이다. 세밀하고 정확한 오리지널 프로덕션의 분석을 통한 재창작과 연기에 대한 코칭, 라이선스 뮤지컬에 담겨있는 서구 문화의 한국화, 언어적 뉘앙스의 문제를 해결하는 것이 라이선스 뮤지컬 연출에 중요한 방법론으로 판단되며, 라이선스 뮤지컬 연출가에게 제작사와 오리지널 크리에이티브 팀과의 협업은 무엇보다 중요한 과제임을 이번 연구를 통해 확인하였다.

본 연구는 국외 파킨슨병 환자의 신체 재활을 위해 음악을 사용한 중재 연구의 연구 특성을 분석 및 고찰한 연구로 최근 20년간 진행된 연구 중 24편의 중재연구를 음악사용 수준에 따라 분류하여 요약 제시하였다. 분석된 연구 내용을 통해 파킨슨병 환자의 운동 산출 시 움직임의 시작 및 종료와 관련된 타이밍 문제를 개선할 수 있는 음악 요소가 무엇인지에 대해 고찰하였다. 분석 결과, 신체 기능의 변화를 유도하기 위해 제공한 음악사용 수준의 차이에 따라 음악 기반 중재연구(music-based intervention) 6편과 리듬기반 중재연구(rhythm-based intervention) 18편으로 나타났다. 이처럼 음악 수준에 따른 연구 특성을 고찰 후 음악사용의 공통 요소인 '리듬'이 대상자의 문제 개선에 적합한 중재 요소였음을 결론 도출하였다. 또한 연구자의 특성이 음악 요소의 활용 범위 및 음악사용의 정도와 관련이 있으며, 이것이 중재 효과의 다양성과 관련이 있다고 제시하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 실제 임상 환경에서 파킨슨병 환자를 포함하여 다양한 신체기능 문제 개선을 위한 신체 재활 중재에 적용이 가능한 음악사용의 근거를 학술적으로 제시하는 것으로 사료된다.

본 연구에서는 한국 전통음악의 음악적 요소들이 각각 어떠한 정서를 유발하는가를 기분반응검사를 통하여 조사하였다. 조사 결과, 장단조선법, 템포, 음색, 수직텍스쳐의 두께와 수평텍스쳐의 밀도는 특정한 정서를 유발하는 효과가 있는 반면, 평조와 계면조로 구분되는 전통 선법은 정서반응에 미치는 영향이 거의 없는 것으로 드러났다. 또한 전통적인 국악보다는 현대에 창작된 국악이 일정한 정서반응을 이끌어 내는데 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 서양음악과 마찬가지로 한국 전통음악 역시 음악적 요소에 따라 감성 반응을 유발해내며 이러한 특성은 배경음악, 광고음악, 음악치료 등 다양한 분야에 응용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study measured and analyzed musical sense objectively, and visualized it to express visual effects as if watching music with the eye. For the visualization of music, we examined the concept of synesthesia and the correlation between hearing and seeing, and reviewed theoretical grounds and a number of cases necessary in reproducing musical sense visually based on synesthetic expression. Furthermore, we studied the visual elements and associated colors of rhythm to prove that visual conception of music through various approaches enable a transitional approach to aesthetic exploration and interpretation. The conclusions drawn from this research are as follows. First, classic music selected for visualization had musical characteristics highly correlated with dress design. Second, basic formative elements suggested as materials of visualization in this study were suitable in their form for expressing the rhythmic sense of music and, because they started from the most basic form, they were effective in extracting design elements. Third, when the result of the questionnaire survey, which was focused on the visualization of the rhythmic sense of the five pieces of classic music, was analyzed from the aspect of sensibility ergonomics, design elements of each piece of music were obtained in an objective and scientific way. Fourth, it was confirmed that common concepts could be derived from intangible elements such as forms and sounds observed in the rhythmic sense of music obtained from the result of the questionnaire survey. Fifth, works were made based on the results of this study and, according to the result, musical images can express sense through dress design and obtain visual effects as if watching music with the eye. Dress desist through the visualization of music in this study was an attempt to suggest that the language of music can be expressed in dress design, a visual formative language, based on synesthetic expression. Through this attempt, we confirmed the infinity of music as motives of dress design and suggested a method of aesthetic expression demanded in contemporary society that is pursuing aesthetic values.

본질적으로 뮤지컬은 다매체성을 지니기 때문에 뮤지컬 음악을 감상할 때 복합적인 감각을 통해 체험하게 된다. 그러므로 뮤지컬 음악을 분석하기 위해서는 그 음악과 직접적인 연관을 가진 가사, 무용, 무대와 같은 다양한 매체와의 상호작용에 주안점을 두어야 한다. 본 연구는 텍스트와 음악의 결합 양상, 움직임과 음악의 결합 양상, 시각적 요소와 음악의 결합 양상을 종합적으로 고려할 수 있는 개념적 혼성 이론(Conceptual Blending Theory)을 통해 뮤지컬 <웨스트 사이드 스토리>의 음악을 분석한다. 뮤지컬에서 가사와 음악의 상호작용으로 만들어지는 결과물, 안무와 음악의 상호작용으로 만들어지는 결과물, 무대와 음악의 상호작용으로 만들어지는 결과물을 탐구함으로써 작품의 예술성과 내재되어 있는 가치를 증명할 수 있다. 또한 개념적 혼성 이론을 적용한 음악 분석을 통해 통합적 해석의 과정 및 체계를 발견할 수 있다. 따라서 개념적 혼성 이론은 뮤지컬 음악 분석 방법론으로써 충분한 효용성을 갖게 된다.

본 논문은 스티븐 손드하임(Stephen Sondheim)의 뮤지컬 양식 변화 과정에 내포되어 있는 특징을 간파해 내고, 창작자와 관객을 연결하는 구조적인 소통 툴과 함의점을 도출하기 위함이다. 손드하임 뮤지컬에 나타나는 전략들은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 손드하임의 초기 뮤지컬 작품들은 북 뮤지컬의 원리를 따르며 가사의 은율과 의미와 같은 기본 요소에 충실한 통합성을 강조한다. 둘째, 초기 포스트모더니즘의 시류 속에서 콘셉트 뮤지컬 <컴퍼니(Company)>를 통해 극단적 해체 원리를 시도하며 파편화된 극적 흐름을 통해 이성적 사유를 추구한다. 셋째, 극단적 해체에서 야기되는 몰입의 결여를 극복하고자 극적 선형성을 유지하지만, <소야곡(Little Night Music)>과 <스위니 토드(Sweeney Todd)>에서 코러스와 인물들의 노래를 통해 더욱 정교하고 정형화된 통합과 해체 원리의 융합 양식을 구현한다. 마지막으로 손드하임은 <조지와 함께한 일요일(Sunday Park with George)>, <숲속으로(Into the Woods)> 등의 작품에서 막과 장의 경계를 허물고 새로운 소재를 표현하기 위한 다각적 실험을 시도한다. 결론적으로 손드하임의 융합 실험과 전략들은 창작자의 메시지를 전달하기 위해 관객의 극적 몰입을 유발하고 동시에 사회 문제에 대해 이성적인 사유를 야기하기 위한 틀과 소통의 매개체를 찾는 과정으로 현대 뮤지컬의 흥행문법의 주도하는 미학을 갖추고 있음을 확인할 수 있다.
