Case study of Creating CG Handheld Steadicam using maya nParticle

  • With the recent increase in YouTube content, many YouTubers are shooting with a handheld camera. Audiences are increasingly accustomed to the movement of handheld cameras. As the camera moves faster than the camera movement of the old movies, and the camera moves splendidly to the music of the music video, the camera movement in CG animation is also needed to change. The handheld Steadicam creates a natural camera movement by compensating so that the screen does not vibrate significantly even when the vibration is large and by minimizing rotation. In order to implement such camera movement, we tried to make a handheld Steadicam using nParticle simulation of Maya software and apply it to the scene to verify whether it is possible to implement the necessary natural and various movement.

  • This study was intended to investigate intertextuality expressed in fashion; intertextuality within fashion as sex, T.P.O., texture, and coordination and intertextuality between fashion and other genre like animation, music, film and technology. Intertextuality obtained by mixing the masculine and feminine text, coordinating various element without regarding T.P.O., texture has contributed to expending aesthetic realm and redefining the aesthetic value of traditional fashion design. The influence of animation, music, film on fashion and the interaction between these genre and fashion integrated high-class fashion and street-fashion, created the multicultural hybrid. Moreover according to the change of lifestyle the fashionable technical clothing was needed and developed. The intertextual tendency in the 21st-century fashion has given the new possibility of fashion design.

The Study on the Effect of Oriental Music Therapy in Ischemic Stroke Patients Classified by Sasang Constitutional Medicine (한방음악치료가 사상체질에 따라 분류된 뇌경색환자에 마치는 효과에 관한 연구)

  • 1. Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the regional cerebral blood-flow(r-CBF) difference between OMT(Oriental Music Therapy) group and control group using brain SPECT, to evaluate the effect of OMT in ischemic stroke patients Classified by Sasang Constitutional. 2. Methods We selected 10 ischemic storke patients, classified groups into OMT group or control group. r-CBF of two groups were examined by brain SPECT. in all group we applied SCM(Sasang constitutional medicine)treatment for 4-5 weaks, and additionally in OMT group We applied OMT for 4-5 weaks. after that all the r-CBF of two groups took brain SPECT again. r-CBF difference and change before and after SCM treatment and OMT were quantified and analyzed using SPM. 3. Results r-CBF of OMT groups were increased compared to control groups. 4. Conclusions This study demonstrated that Sasang Constitutional OMT increased regional cerebral blood perfusion to the corresponding brain areas in ischemic stroke patients.

Sound Signal Analysis Using the Time-Frequency Representations (시주파수 표현법을 이용한 소리신호의 분석)

  • Time-frequency representations are methods to display the magnitude or energy density of a signal on the two dimensional plane of both time and frequency. They are useful in analyzing the characteristics of time-varying signals. Music is a typical time-varying signal, and it can be analyzed by time-frequency representations. Recently, it is popular to change the sound quality by attaching a safety sounder to an instrument. It is performed to improve perception subjectively by spending little cost and modifying sound quality. In time domain, it is difficult to notify the difference between music signals with and without the sounder. But, it is easy to find the difference in frequency domain or in time-frequency domain. In this paper, the music signal from a flute with sounder is analyzed both in the frequency domain and in the time-frequency domain. It is confirmed that the frequency components in the mid-frequency range of 500~2500 are reinforced.

Prediction of the Acoustic Performance of a Music Hall Considering the Radiation Characteristics of Korean Traditional Musical Sources (국악음원의 방사특성을 고려한 국악원의 음향 성능 예측)

  • There have been always some difficulties in target setting and conditioning of acoustic performances of the Korean traditional music hall due mainly to the lack of the information on the sound radiation characteristics of Korean musical sources. In this study, the radiation characteristics of four typical Korean traditional musical sources were investigated in precision and their usage was demonstrated: The selected musical sources were Gayageum (string), Daegeum (woodwind), Jango (drum), and Pansori Chang (vocal performance). Each sound source was located at the center of a semi-anechoic chamber and the directivity was determined by the measured sound pressure levels in every 10° angular position, for both vertical and horizontal directions. The directivity pattern of Gayageum varies from a uniform to a complex pattern having many side lobes with the increase of frequency. The main radiation of Daegeum is toward the upward direction. The directivity pattern of Jango is clearly a side-oriented one and the left direction intensity is sharper than its right side at low frequencies. For the Chang, the directivity pattern change from a uniform pattern to a frontally directed one as the frequency goes high. Measured directional and spectral characteristics of traditional Korean music sources were implemented into the computation of architectural acoustic measures for the Busan National Korean Traditional Music Hall which is under construction. Parameters such as RT, SPL, C80, IE, STI were calculated at two receiver positions by using a ray tracing technique. Significant differences in the acoustic measures at receiver positions were observed between the results in using the omni-directional source and the directional one. It is thought that the suggested source data and design method can be used as a basic reference in the future acoustic design of performance halls for the Korean traditional music.

  • A main objective of audio equalizer is for user to tailor acoustic frequency response to increase sound comfort and example applications of audio equalizer includes large-scale audio system to portable audio such as mobile MP3 player. Up to now, all the audio equalizer requires manual setting to equalize frequency bands to create suitable sound quality for each genre of music. In this paper, we propose an intelligent audio graphic equalizer system that automatically classifies the music genre using music content analysis and then the music sound is boosted with the given frequency gains according to the classified musical genre when playback. In order to reproduce comfort sound, the musical genre is determined based on two-step hierarchical algorithm - coarse-level and fine-level classification. It can prevent annoying sound reproduction due to the sudden change of the equalizer gains at the beginning of the music playback. Each stage of the music classification experiments shows at least 80% of success with complete genre classification and equalizer operation within 2 sec. Simple S/W graphical user interface of 3-band automatic equalizer is implemented using visual C on personal computer.

Differences in Temporary Threshold Shift and Recovery Patterns Depending on Sound Type and Pressure (소리의 종류와 크기에 따른 일과성 청력 역치 상승과 회복의 차이)

  • Objective: This study aimed to investigate the differences in temporary threshold shift (TTS) and recovery patterns according to different types of sound and volume. Methods: TTS and recovery patterns were assessed for eight students after 30-minute exposure to both 70.0 dB and 90.0 dB of factory noise (noise) as well as music. TTS was measured before exposure and two minutes post exposure, and recovery patterns were evaluated every 10 minutes for one hour. The subjects performed activities of daily life and sleeping times as usual but taking drugs or drinking alcohol were prohibited. The experiment was repeated three times with an interval of at least 16 hours. ANOVA and T-test were carried out using SPSS 19.0 for Windows. Results: The hearing threshold of all subjects before exposure was less than 30 dB at all frequencies. Mean TTSs of 70 dB noise and 90 dB noise exposure were 0.14 and 4.48 dB (p<0.001). Meanwhile, the difference in music was insignificant (-0.63 dB and 0.55 dB, p=0.063). A significance in the difference was also found between the mean TTS of music and noise exposure, more obviously at 90.0 dB (p<0.001) than at 70 dB (p=0.232). The TTS differences were found frequency-wise in terms of sound type. Mean TTS by frequency was higher at 4,000 and 6,000 Hz than at other frequencies, and higher in noise than music at the same sound pressure. The TTS difference in each frequency between both sound types was significant at 90 dB (p<0.001). Subjects mostly recovered from TTS in one hour after exposure, but not with 90 dB-noise exposure. Conclusion: TTS and recovery patterns were different depending on the sound type. When exposed to factory noise, TTS was greater and recovery time was longer compared to music at the same sound pressure. These results suggested that the difference in cognitive processes and psychological factors according to the type of sound causes a change in TTS and recovery.

The Effects of Guided Imagery Activities Using Music on Mood States, and Physiological Responses of Psychiatric Inpatients (음악을 사용한 지시적 심상이 입원 정신질환자의 기분상태 및 생리적 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of guided imagery activities using music on both mood states and physiological responses of psychiatric inpatients. The experimental group was consisted of 27 psychiatric patients participating in the guided imagery activities using music for 11 minutes. Also, the control group was formed with 27 psychiatric patients with non-musical intervention. Mood states, blood pressure, pulse and skin temperature were checked before and after session. We could see the significant difference in the score of five areas-tension, depression, anger, vigor, fatigue-showed most differences in score. Also, the score of skin temperature of both experimental group and between two groups showed significant differences, too. Therefore, we can conclude that these results were showing that guided imagery activities using music was an effective nursing intervention method for altering mood state of psychiatric patients. Besides, it seemed to have physiological impact to make patients relax tension backed up by change of skin temperature.

Development of Music Psychotherapy Program Applying the Inner Family System(IFS) to Reduce Adult Depression and Improve Self-Esteem (성인의 우울 감소와 자아존중감 향상을 위한 내면가족체계(IFS)적용 음악심리치료 프로그램 개발)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop music psychotherapy program applying the Inner Family System(IFS) to reduce adult depression and improve self-esteem and to verify its effectiveness. For this, literature search and theoretical basis were prepared, and validity was secured through a demand survey and evaluation by experts. After going through the preliminary program, the final program consisting of 10 sessions was developed after revision and supplementation. To verify the effectiveness of the program, 25 people who met the selection criteria with a score of 20 or higher on the Depression Scale(CES-D) were selected. Of the 25 subjects, 10 subjects in the experimental group, 10 subjects in the control group, and 5 subjects in the preliminary group were randomly assigned and analyzed as final study subjects. The experimental group performed 10 sessions of music psychotherapy applying IFS twice a week for 90 minutes, and the control group did not receive any treatment. As a result of data analysis, first, it was confirmed that there was a difference between the experimental group and the control group in the change patterns according to the measurement period of overall depression and the sub-factors, depressive emotion, interpersonal emotion, and physical depression score. Second, the effects were statistically significant on overall self-esteem and sub-factors such as self-deprecation, relationship with others, leadership and popularity, assertion and anxiety. Third, it was confirmed that the pattern of change according to the measurement period of the IFS score differed between the experimental and control groups.

A Study on Comparing the Original and Current Jongmyo Jeryeak (종묘제례악 원형과 현행의 비교 고찰)

  • Jongmyo Jeryeak [Royal ancestral shrine music] is a precious cultural heritage, which has been played till now since two great kings Sejong and Sejo who made it. But going through Japanese occupation, Jongmyo Jeryeak has been changed into a music totally different from the music the two kings intended. And the changed Jongmyo Jeryeak is being played these days. The original Jongmyo Jeryeak, which was made by the two kings, remains in old music scores. Therefore there is a need to investigate the differences between the original and current Jongmyo Jeryeak by interpreting the old music scores and recovering the original. This paper recovers the origianl Jongmyo Jeryeak from the music score Daeakhubo and compares it with the current Jongmyo Jeryeak. The results are as follows. The origianl Jongmyo Jeryeak is a set of common songs made with Hyangak and Gochiak to sing the verses which extol royal ancestors' virtues. All of the musical elements are matched with the verses so that the meaning of the verses is transmitted naturally. Jangdan musical time musical structure are matched with the structure of verses, and the musical motif of the songs is matched with the meaning of the verses. The music, which is easy and expresses the meaning of the verses well, demonstrates King Sejong's talent as a musician. The current Jongmyo Jeryeak is a set of special songs in which Sigimsae is emphasized rather than the meaning of the verses. The melodies are broken into pieces inconsistently, the meaningless word 'ae' is added thoughtlessly, and Jangdan musical time musical structure are unrelated to the verses. Therefore the meaning of the verses is not transmitted at all. These changes, which were made during the period of Japanese occupation, seem to desecrate the verses of the original songs. The melodies, which are broken into pieces inconsistently, revive into the current mysterious ritual music through Sigimsae. But in order to be a proper ritual music, some corrections have to be made to convey the meaning of the verses.
