산림지역의 비점오염물질 유출특성 및 EMC 산정 (Wash-off Characteristics of NPS Pollutants from Forest Landuse)

  • 수질오염총량관리제에서는 다양한 토지에서 발생하는 비점오염물질의 부하량 산정을 요구하고 있다. 현재 수질오염총량관리제에서 사용되고 있는 토지이용별 오염물질 원단위는 1999년도에 제정된 7가지 지목별 원단위를 사용하고 있으나, 강우량의 고려없이 산정된 값이기에 적용과정에서 과다설계 등의 문제를 나타내고 있다. 따라서 환경부는 다양한 강우사상에서 수행된 모니터링 결과를 이용하여 토지이용별 원단위를 분리하기 위한 장기모니터링을 수행하고 있으며, 본 연구는 이러한 장기모니터링 결과의 일환으로 수행되고 있다. 특히 산림지역의 경우 자연초지와 함께 자연 상태 하천의 배경농도를 형성하는 오염원으로 인위적인 오염배출영향을 평가하기 위해서는 기본적인 유출특성 분석이 요구되고 있으나, 현재까지 연구가 미흡한 상황이다. 본 연구는 산림지역 중 활엽수림과 침엽수림을 대상으로 강우시 모니터링을 실시하여 비점오염물질의 유출특성을 파악하고 EMC를 산정하였으며, 향후 그 결과는 산림지역으로부터 유출되는 비점오염물질의 부하량 및 원단위 산정에 기초자료로 활용될 것이다.

하수슬러지 Biogas의 신재생에너지화 타당성 연구 (A Feasibility Study for Renewable Energy from Sewage Sludge Biogas)

  • This study was carried out not only to evaluate optimal operating condition to increase biogas production, but also to estimate feasibility of renewable energy from anaerobic digester of sewage sludge. Semi- continuous Fed and Mixed Reactors (SCFMRs) were operated in various condition to quantify the reactor variables. The result of SCFMR operation showed that the biogas productivity and total volatile solids (TVS) removal of total solids (TS) 4% reactor at hydraulic retention time (HRT) 20 days with Organic Loading Rate (OLR) of $1.45kg/m^3-d$ were $0.39m^3/m^3-d$ and 26.7%, respectively which was two times higher than that of TS 2.5% reactor. Consequently the daily biogas production of $20,000m^3$ would be possible from the total volume of $52,000m^3$ of anaerobic digesters of the municipal wastewater treatment plant in D city. In feasibility study for the Biogas utilization, combined heat and power system (CHP) and CNG gasification were examined. In case of CHP, the withdrawal period of capital cost for gas-engine (GE) and micro gas-turbine (MGT) were 7.7 years and 9.1 years respectively. biogas utilization as Clean Natural Gas (CNG) shows lower capital cost and higher profit than that of CHP system. CNG gasificaion after biogas purification is likely the best alternative for Biogas utilization which have more economic potential than CHP system. The withdrawal period of capital cost appeared to be 2.3 years.

하수의 최종 유출수 수질 개선을 위한 침전조 모형실험에 적용한 끈상 미생물접촉재와 미나리의 고도처리효율에 관한 연구 (Advanced Treatment Efficiency of Biological String Media and Oenanthe javanica for Effluent Quality Improvement in the Sedimentation Model Plant)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 미나리와 끈상 미생물접촉재를 이용하여 생활하수의 하수처리장 방류수의 수질 개선을 위함이다. 최종 방류수의 수질을 개선하기 위한 침전조 모형 플랜트를 2개 제작하여 실험하였는데, 하나(Tank 1)는 기존 하수처리장 침전조와 같게 제작 하였으며, 다른 하나의 침전조(Tank 2)는 침전조의 수초섬 상부에는 미나리를 식재하고 하부에는 끈상 미생물 접촉재를 배치하였다. 유기 오염물질인 BOD, 부유고형물질인 SS, 질소 그리고 인에 대한 고도처리 효율을 검증하였다. 실험 결과 Tank 2에서 유출되는 배출수가 Tank 1에서 배출되는 유출수보다 처리 효율이 향상되었다. 처리 효율을 살펴보면, Tank 1보다 Tank 2 유출수의 BOD는 $7.9%{\sim}38.8%$가 향상되었으며, 부유고형 물질인 SS는 $14.3%{\sim}60.0%$ 향상되었다. 부영양화 물질인 T-N은 $9.6%{\sim}31.5%$ 향상되었으며, T-P는 $33.0%{\sim}80.0%$까지 향상되었다. 처리 효율로 판단하면 T-P와 SS 제거효율이 BOD와 T-N보다 높았다.

하수슬러지로부터 페놀분해세균의 분리 및 동정에 관한 연구 (Isolation and identification of a phenol-degrading bacterium from the sewage sludge)

  • 난지도 하수처리장내 슬러지로부터 페놀을 유일한 탄소 및 에너지원으로 이용하는 세균을 분리하여 그 특성을 조사하고 동정하였다. 본 세균은 그람 음성 구균으로 운동성을 가지며 페놀의 농도가 0.05%, 0.10%, 0.15%인 배지에서 성장을 보였으며, BBL Test를 실시한 결과 유사성을 가진 세균이 나타나지 않았다. 세균의 계통분류학적 분석을 위하여 세균의 염색체로부터 16s rDNA를 클로닝한 후 DNA 염기서열을 파악하고 이를 비교 및 분석한 결과 본 세균은 Proteobacteria의 Gamma (${\gamma}$) Subdivision에 속한 Xanthomonas Group의 Stenotrophomonas maltophilia strain과 99%의 유사성을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 Nitrogen-Fixing bacterium MAGDE3, Pseudomonas cissicola strain과는 98%의 상동성을, Stenotrophomonas sp. LMG 198, Xanthomonas cucurbitae과는 97%의 상동성을 보였다.

Influence of Water Depth on Microalgal Production, Biomass Harvest, and Energy Consumption in High Rate Algal Pond Using Municipal Wastewater

  • The high rate algal ponds (HRAP) powered and mixed by a paddlewheel have been widely used for over 50 years to culture microalgae for the production of various products. Since light incidence is limited to the surface, water depth can affect microalgal growth in HRAP. To investigate the effect of water depth on microalgal growth, a mixed microalgal culture constituting three major strains of microalgae including Chlorella sp., Scenedesmus sp., and Stigeoclonium sp. (CSS), was grown at different water depths (20, 30, and 40 cm) in the HRAP, respectively. The HRAP with 20cm of water depth had about 38% higher biomass productivity per unit area ($6.16{\pm}0.33g{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}d^{-1}$) and required lower nutrients and energy consumption than the other water depths. Specifically, the algal biomass of HRAP under 20cm of water depth had higher settleability through larger floc size (83.6% settleability within 5 min). These results indicate that water depth can affect the harvesting process as well as cultivation of microalgae. Therefore, we conclude that water depth is an important parameter in HRAP design for mass cultivation of microalgae.

APID공정 내 공정진단을 위한 dynamic $\bar{x}$-R 관리도의 적용 (Application of Dynamic $\bar{x}$-R Control Chart for Advanced Phase Isolation Ditch (APID) Process)

  • Advanced Phase Isolation Ditch (APID) process was studied to develop economic retrofitting technology, for the plants where retrofitting of common activated sludge process is required. In this study, to evaluate and monitor the effluent water quality ($BOD_5$, SS, T-N, and T-P) and operating conditions (Influent, SVI, SRT, and HRT) as process capable and stable parameters for treating municipal wastewater, a demonstration plant was installed and operated in the existing sewage treatment plant of P city. During this study, the average effluent $BOD_5$, SS, T-N, and T-P concentrations were 7.7, 5.6, 10.8, and 1.6 mg/L. Trend analysis of influent $BOD_5$, SS, T-N, and T-P in APID process were illustrated that APID process need for more strong APID process management on the winter session, such as developing new intermediated aeration mode, operating methods, and managements strategy. At the application of control chart, the signal of uncommon effects at APID process was determined much higher existing control chart tntr conventional control chart in this study. These results indicate that conventional control chart has been collected and determined cleary signal at only stable situation. Therefore, newly developed APID process of dynamic control chart can be one of the useful tool for monitoring and management process.

그물망 압착식 섬유여과장치를 이용한 물 재이용 시스템 개발 (Development of Water Reusing System by Using Net3FM (Net Fit Fiber Filter Module))

  • This study was carried out to develop pilot plant Net3FM(Net Fit Fiber Filter Module) system and to suggest optimum operating condition for municipal wastewater reuse. SS concentration of biologically treated sewage effluent was reduced from 1.5~5.4mg/L to 0.4~1.0mg/L without coagulant injection in Net3FM system, and the SS removal efficiency was average 84.7%. And also, the removal efficiencies of COD and T-P were decreased slightly due to the SS removal by filtration. Coagulation-Filtration test was conducted to enhance the removal efficiencies of SS and T-P. The optimum dosage of coagulant was injected automatically by auto-controlling system, which is controlled by detecting value of turbidity of secondary sewage effluent. SS, COD and T-P concentrations in filtrated effluent were 0.21~0.57, 1.6~6.2 and 0.137~0.392mg/L with coagulant injection by in-line mixer in Net3FM system, respectively. The removal efficiencies of SS and T-P were highly increased to 92.8% and 89.8%, respectively. It was due to the combined the processes of coagulation and filtration. Net3FM system was evaluated that the removal efficiency of pollutants in secondary sewage effluent and the utilization potential as reclaimed water technology were very high.

호기성 그래뉼 슬러지를 이용한 연속 회분식 공정의 도시하수처리에 대한 적용 (Applicability of the SBR Process Using Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) in Municipal Wastewater Treatment)

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm the applicability of aerobic granular sludge (AGS) in the advanced sewage treatment process. Simulated influent was used in the operation of a laboratory scale reactor. The operation time of one cycle was 4 h and the reactor was operated for six cycles per day. The volume exchange ratio was 50%. The influent was injected in divisions of 25% to increase the removal efficiency of nitrogen in every cycle. As a result, the removal efficiencies of $COD_{Cr}$ and TN in this reactor were 98.2% and 76.7% respectively. During the operation period, the AGS/MLVSS concentration ratio increased from 70.0% to 86.7%, and the average $SVI_{30}$ was 67 mL/g. The SNR and SDNR were 0.073-0.161 kg $NH_4{^+}$-N/kg MLVSS/day and 0.071-0.196 kg $NO_3{^-}$-N/kg MLVSS/day respectively. These values were higher or similar to those reported in other studies. The operation time of the process using AGS is shorter than that of the conventional activated sludge process. Hence, this process can replace the activated sludge process.

THE EFFECTS OF OPERATIONAL AND FINANCIAL FACTORS ON THE ECONOMICS OF BIOGAS PRODUCTION FROM DAIRY COW FECES AND WASTEWATER

  • Biogas created from animal waste is a precious energy source. A practical and successful utilization of the biogas is not easy, because there lie some difficulties in biogas production and facilities investment. In this study, the requisites for a successful biogas utilization were discussed. The production results obtained in the previous operation of anaerobic digestion plant were used for the simulation. When the slurry heating was designed for constant biogas generation, depreciation costs of the facilities amounted 1,175,000 yen per year, and biogas productions at $24.5^{\circ}C$, $30.0^{\circ}C$ and $35.5^{\circ}C$ were $16.8m^3$, $17.6m^3$ and $25.1m^3$, respectively. Removal ratios of organic matters were not so high. At $35.5^{\circ}C$, energy value of the biogas produced was estimated 125.5 Mcal per day, and the following heat loss (y Mcal/day) was brought about by the temperature difference ($X^{\circ}C$) between the digester and atmosphere; y = 0.769X - 5.375. The costs of biogas production per cow were assumed to decrease according to enlargement of feeding scale, especially on scales of more than 30 cows. On recent levels of costs and prices of energy in Japan, they were nearly equal to 2 to 3 fold of the price of municipal mixed gas when a anaerobic digester was compulsorily heated and kept at $30.0^{\circ}C$ or $35.5^{\circ}C$.

장기 배양법을 이용한 국내 하수처리장 유입 하수의 질소 성상 분석 (Analysis on Nitrogen Faction of Influent Sewage in Domestic STP Based on Long-term Incubation Method)

  • 현재 국내 하수처리장 방류수 질소 수질 기준 개정의 필요성에 대한 의견들이 지속적으로 제안되고 있다. 하지만, 명확한 근거 없이 기준이 강화될 경우 국내 하수처리장에 혼란을 야기할 것이 자명하다. 본 연구에서는 장기 배양법을 기반으로 용량 및 산업단지 연계 처리에 따른 국내 하수의 질소 성상을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 하수처리장에서 처리되기 어려운 질소 성분인 NBDDON는 1.0 ~ 1.9 mg/L 범위를 보였으며, 하수처리장 용량이 적을수록 DON 농도 & NBDDON/DON가 증가하였다. 또한 도시하수를 처리하는 하수처리장보다 산업단지 하수처리장의 NBDDON/DON 비가 높은 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 향 후 국내 하수처리장 방류수 수질 기준 개선을 위한 중요한 기초 자료로 활용될 것이라 전망한다.
