  • We report a case of primary central nervous system(CNS) lymphoma in an organ recipient. A 33-years-old man who underwent a renal transplantation 3years previously presented with headache and vomiting. In Brain computed tomography scans and magnetic resonance images showed multiple periventricular cystic rim enhancing masses. Pathologic diagnosis by stereotactic biopsy revealed malignant non-Hodgkins B-cell lymphoma. After pathologic confirmation, methotrexate chemotherapy and whole brain radiation therapy were done. Having experienced such a case, the authors strongly recommend to add primary CNS lymphoma as one of the differential diagnoses to brain abscess, metastatic brain tumor and glioblastoma multiforme in cases of multiple ring enhancing periventricular lesions of immunocompromised patient or organ recipient.

  • Several code-division multiple access (CDMA)-based interconnect schemes have been recently proposed as alternatives to the conventional time-division multiplexing bus in multicore systems-on-chip. CDMA systems with a dynamic assignment of spreading codewords are particularly attractive because of their potential for higher bandwidth efficiency compared with the systems in which the codewords are statically assigned to processing elements. In this paper, we propose a novel distributed arbitration scheme for dynamic CDMA-bus-based systems, which solves the complexity and scalability issues associated with commonly used centralized arbitration schemes. The proposed arbitration unit is decomposed into multiple simple arbitration elements, which are connected in a ring. The arbitration ring implements a token-passing algorithm, which both resolves destination conflicts and assigns the codewords to processing elements. Simulation results show that the throughput reduction in an optimally configured dynamic CDMA bus due to arbitration-related overheads does not exceed 5%.

  • We report the spectral characteristics of Multimode Interferometer (MMI)-coupled semicondoctor square ring resonators. The epitaxial layers of the proposed semiconductor ring resonator consists of $1.55{\mu}m$ GaInAsP-InP multiple quantum wells. The lasing characteristics were observed by varying the structure parameters of the MMI-coupled square ring resonators. It is concluded that the MMI-coupled scheme selects a single spectral lasing mode in the double square ring cavities.

  • In present article, utilizing the Love shell theory with volume fraction laws for the cylindrical shells vibrations provides a governing equation for the distribution of material composition of material. Isotopic materials are the constituents of these rings. The position of a ring support has been taken along the radial direction. The Rayleigh-Ritz method with three different fraction laws gives birth to the shell frequency equation. Moreover, the effect of height- and length-to-radius ratio and angular speed is investigated. The results are depicted for circumferential wave number, length- and height-radius ratios with three laws. It is found that the backward and forward frequencies of exponential fraction law are sandwich between polynomial and trigonometric laws. It is examined that the backward and forward frequencies increase and decrease on increasing the ratio of height- and length-to-radius ratio. As the position of ring is enhanced for clamped simply supported and simply supported-simply supported boundary conditions, the frequencies go up. At mid-point, all the frequencies are higher and after that the frequencies decreases. The frequencies are same at initial and final stage and rust itself a bell shape. The shell is stabilized by ring supports to increase the stiffness and strength. Comparison is made for non-rotating and rotating cylindrical shell for the efficiency of the model. The results generated by computer software MATLAB.

  • A computer simulation was performed to investigate the heat source distribution and temperature distribution of a laser having multiple characteristics. To simulate the actual size of a welding specimen, the temperature distributions at 0 s, 1 s, and 2 s were analyzed by increasing the domain size to 50 mm in length and 25 mm in width in a material of the same thickness. As indicated by the results, because of the characteristics of metals with high thermal conductivity, the temperature at the welding center line and the temperature distribution at the offset position were not significant. When the core part was cooled by irradiating with a laser, it cooled at a rate of up to 500 ℃/s. In contrast, when the laser was irradiated to the ring part, the cooling proceeded at a rate of over 1800 ℃/s. Comparing the relative numerical values rather than the absolute values, it was found that the cooling rate was approximately 3.6 times faster when the laser was irradiated through the ring than when the laser was irradiated through the core. As a result of irradiating with the same heat source (at 100 W) into the core, ring, and ring + core, it was confirmed that the highest temperature was irradiated to the ring part and the lowest temperature was irradiated to the core part.

  • Background: A ring implantation in the tricuspid annulus requires many interrupted mattress sutures for correction of tricuspid regurgitation (TR). In this study, tricuspid ring annuloplasty was performed by 2-0 polypropylene continuous suture instead of multiple interrupted 2-0 polyester mattress sutures, and the efficacy of the method was evaluated. Materials and Methods: This study included 20 patients who underwent tricuspid ring annuloplasty by continuous suture between May 2009 and July 2010. Four of the patients had an isolated TR, and the rest had a left-sided cardiac lesion. The concomitant tricuspid annuloplasty was performed after the left-sided heart surgery was completed and a Duran flexible ring prosthesis was used. Results: There was no perioperative mortality or conduction problem. More than a moderate degree of TR was improved to less than a mild degree after the procedure. After the ring annuloplasty, the right atrial volume decreased from $123.7{\pm}69.2mL$ to $74.5{\pm}37.4mL$, and the mean right atrial pressure was lowered from $18.7{\pm}12.2mmHg$ to $8.9{\pm}5.5mmHg$. Conclusion: The continuous "over and over" suture may be a useful procedure for fixing the ring to the annulus and making an intentional annular placation in performing tricuspid ring annuloplasty.

  • In this paper, a novel voltage-controlled oscillator(VCO) using the open loop multiple split ring resonator(OLMSRR) is presented for improving the phase noise, implemented in 130 nm CMOS technology. Compared with the conventional CMOS LC resonator, the proposed CMOS OLMSRR has the larger coupling coefficient value, which makes a higher Q-factor, and has improved the phase noise of the VCO. The proposed CMOS VCO based OLMSRR has the phase noise of -99.67 dBc/Hz @ 1 MHz in the oscillation frequency. Compared with the VCO using the conventional CMOS LC resonator and the proposed VCO using the CMOS OLMSRR structure has been improved in 7 dB. The prototype 24 GHz CMOS VCO is implemented in 130 nm CMOS and occupies a compact die area of $0.7\;mm{\times}0.9\;mm$.

  • The phased array antenna has an advantage enabling rapid beam aim without the mechanical rotation of the antenna, because it arranges multiple elements in a linear or planer (grid or circular) and electronically controls the phase for each element. The planar array antenna is generally used a grid array and a circular array, and the circular form has the higher resolution comparing to the grid form due to the its structural characteristics. However, a concentric circular array (CCA) or a concentric ring array (CRA) with multiple circular arrays which each has different radius is used in the limited area, because the entire radius should be increased for the circular array with a number of elements. In this paper, we introduce the angle-of-arrival (AOA) estimator for an adaptive beamforming satellite system based on CRA and provide the simulation results for performance evaluation. In addition, simulation results are compared and analyzed to the case for the circular array antenna.

  • In this paper, we present a novel fully distributed topology control protocol that can construct the multiple-ring topology of Minimal Connected Dominating Set (MCDS) as the transport backbone for mobile ad hoc networks. It makes a topology from the minimal nodes that are chosen from all the nodes, and the constructed topology is comprised of the minimal physical links while preserving connectivity. This topology reduces the interference. The all nodes work as the nodes of the distributed parallel Boltzmann machine, of which the objective function is consisted of two Boltzmann factors: the link degree and the connection domination degree. To define these Boltzmann factors, we extend the Connected Dominating Set into a fuzzy set, and also define the fuzzy set of nodes by which the multiple-ring topology can be constructed. To construct the transport backbone of the mobile ad hoc network, the proposed protocol chooses the nodes that are the strong members of these two fuzzy sets as the clusterheads. We also ran simulations to provide the quantitative comparison against the related works in terms of the packet loss rate and the energy consumption rate. As a result, we show that the network that is constructed by the proposed protocol has far better than the other ones with respect to the packet loss rate and the energy consumption rate.
