The study on estimated breeding value and accuracy for economic traits in Gyoungnam Hanwoo cow (Korean cattle)

  • This study was conducted to construct basic data for the selection of elite cows by analyzing the estimated breeding value (EBV) and accuracy using the pedigree of Hanwoo cows in Gyeongnam. The phenotype trait used in the analysis are the carcass weight (CWT), eye muscle area (EMA), backfat thickness (BFT) and marbling score (MS). The pedigree of the test group and reference group was collected to build a pedigree structure and a numeric relationship matrix (NRM). The EBV, genetic parameters and accuracy were estimated by applying NRM to the best linear unbiased prediction (BLUP) multiple-trait animal model of the BLUPF90 program. Looking at the pedigree structure of the test group, there were a total of 2,371 cows born between 2003 to 2009, of these 603 cows had basic registration (25%), 562 cows had pedigree registration (24%) and 1,206 cows had advanced registration (51%). The proportion of pedigree registered cows was relatively low but it gradually increased and reached a point of 20,847 cows (68%) between 2010 to 2017. Looking at the change in the EBV, the CWT improved from 4.992 kg to 9.885 kg, the EMA from 0.970 ㎠ to 2.466 ㎠, the BFT from -0.186 mm to -0.357 mm, and the MS from 0.328 to 0.559 points. As a result of genetic parameter estimation, the heritability of CWT, EMA, BFT, and MS were 0.587, 0.416, 0.476, and 0.571, respectively, and the accuracy of those were estimated to be 0.559, 0.551, 0.554, and 0.558, respectively. Selection of superior genetic breed and efficient improvement could be possible if cow ability verification is implemented by using the accurate pedigree of each individual in the farms.

LC-MS/MS를 이용한 수산물 중 콜리스틴 분석법 개발 (Development of Analytical Method for Colistin in Fish and Shrimp using Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry)

  • LC-MS/MS를 이용하여 폴리펩타이드계 동물용의약품인 콜리스틴에 대한 시험법을 확립하여 정량성 및 정밀성을 확보하였으며, 확립된 시험법의 적용성 검증을 위해 국제식품규격위원회 기준에 따라 특이성, 정확성, 직선성, 정밀성, 검출한계, 정량한계 등을 검증하였다. 콜리스틴 표준용액을 잔류허용기준의 농도에 따라 검량선을 작성한 결과 0.99 이상의 직선성을 확인 할 수 있었으며, 본 실험에서의 평균 회수율은 85.9~107%이었다. 또한, 분석오차는 11.8% 이하로 정확성 및 재현성이 우수하였으며, 검출한계는 0.02 mg/kg, 정량한계는 0.05 mg/kg이었다. 또한, 실험실간 교차검증을 통하여 신뢰성을 확보하였다. 확립된 분석법은 양식 수산물 중 잔류할 수 있는 동물용의약품인 콜리스틴에 대한 안전관리에 활용 할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

수도(水稻) 적정시비량(適正施肥量) 결정(決定)에 대한 대체모형(代替模型) (An Alternative Model for Determining the Optimal Fertilizer Level)

  • Linear models, with and without site variables, have been investigated in order to develop an alternative methodology for determining optimal fertilizer levels. The resultant models are : (1) Model I is an ordinary quadratic response function formed by combining the simple response function estimated at each site in block diagonal form, and has parameters [${\gamma}^{(1)}_{m{\ell}}$], for m=1, 2, ${\cdots}$, n sites and degrees of polynomial, ${\ell}$=0, 1, 2. (2) Mode II is a multiple regression model with a set of site variables (including an intercept) repeated for each fertilizer level and the linear and quadratic terms of the fertilizer variables arranged in block diagonal form as in Model I. The parameters are equal to [${\beta}_h\;{\gamma}^{(2)}_{m{\ell}}$] for h=0, 1, 2, ${\cdots}$, k site variable, m=1, 2, ${\cdots}$ and ${\ell}$=1, 2. (3) Model III is a classical response surface model, I. e., a common quadratic polynomial model for the fertilizer variables augmented with site variables and interactions between site variables and the linear fertilizer terms. The parameters are equal to [${\beta}_h\;{\gamma}_{\ell}\;{\theta}_h$], for h=0, 1, ${\cdots}$, k, ${\ell}$=1, 2, and h'=1, 2, ${\cdots}$, k. (4) Model IV has the same basic structure as Mode I, but estimation procedure involves two stages. In stage 1, yields for each fertilizer level are regressed on the site variables and the resulting predicted yields for each site are then regressed on the fertilizer variables in stage 2. Each model has been evaluated under the assumption that Model III is the postulated true response function. Under this assumption, Models I, II and IV give biased estimators of the linear fertilizer response parameter which depend on the interaction between site variables and applied fertilizer variables. When the interaction is significant, Model III is the most efficient for calculation of optimal fertilizer level. It has been found that Model IV is always more efficient than Models I and II, with efficiency depending on the magnitude of ${\lambda}m$, the mth diagonal element of X (X' X)' X' where X is the site variable matrix. When the site variable by linear fertilizer interaction parameters are zero or when the estimated interactions are not important, it is demonstrated that Model IV can be a reasonable alternative model for calculation of optimal fertilizer level. The efficiencies of the models are compared us ing data from 256 fertilizer trials on rice conducted in Korea. Although Model III is usually preferred, the empirical results from the data analysis support the feasibility of using Model IV in practice when the estimated interaction term between measured soil organic matter and applied nitrogen is not important.

메모리 사용을 최적화한 부분 병렬화 구조의 CMMB 표준 지원 LDPC 복호기 설계 (A Memory-efficient Partially Parallel LDPC Decoder for CMMB Standard)

  • 본 논문에서는 CMMB (China Mobile Multimedia Broadcasting) 표준의 LDPC(Low Density Parity Check) 부호 복호기를 효과적으로 구현하는 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문은 AGU(Address Generation Unit)와 Index 행렬을 이용하여 효율적으로 주소 값을 생성함으로써, 메모리 사용량을 줄이고 복잡도를 감소시켰다. 또한 LDPC 부호 복호기의 throughput을 향상시키기 위해 한 클럭에 여러 메시지를 전달하는 부분 병렬 구조를 사용하였고, 하나의 주소를 사용하여 병렬적으로 동작이 가능하도록 노드 그룹핑을 진행하였다. 제안하는 LDPC 부호 복호기는 Verilog HDL로 구현하였으며, Synopsys사의 Design Compiler를 이용하여 Chartered $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS cell library 공정으로 합성하였다. 제안된 복호기는 455K(in NAND2)의 크기를 가지며, 185MHz의 클럭에서 1/2 부호는 14.32 Mbps의 throughput을 갖고, 3/4 부호는 26.97Mbps의 throughput을 갖는다. 또한 기존의 CMMB용 LDPC의 메모리와 비교하여 0.39% 의 메모리만 사용된다.

Beyond Clot Dissolution; Role of Tissue Plasminogen Activator in Central Nervous System

  • Tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) is a serine protease catalyzing the proteolytic conversion of plasminogen into plasmin, which is involved in thrombolysis. During last two decades, the role of tPA in brain physiology and pathology has been extensively investigated. tPA is expressed in brain regions such as cortex, hippocampus, amygdala and cerebellum, and major neural cell types such as neuron, astrocyte, microglia and endothelial cells express tPA in basal status. After strong neural stimulation such as seizure, tPA behaves as an immediate early gene increasing the expression level within an hour. Neural activity and/or postsynaptic stimulation increased the release of tPA from axonal terminal and presumably from dendritic compartment. Neuronal tPA regulates plastic changes in neuronal function and structure mediating key neurologic processes such as visual cortex plasticity, seizure spreading, cerebellar motor learning, long term potentiation and addictive or withdrawal behavior after morphine discontinuance. In addition to these physiological roles, tPA mediates excitotoxicity leading to the neurodegeneration in several pathological conditions including ischemic stroke. Increasing amount of evidence also suggest the role of tPA in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis even though beneficial effects was also reported in case of Alzheimer's disease based on the observation of tPA-induced degradation of $A{\beta}$ aggregates. Target proteins of tPA action include extracellular matrix protein laminin, proteoglycans and NMDA receptor. In addition, several receptors (or binding partners) for tPA has been reported such as low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein (LRP) and annexin II, even though intracellular signaling mechanism underlying tPA action is not clear yet. Interestingly, the action of tPA comprises both proteolytic and non-proteolytic mechanism. In case of microglial activation, tPA showed non-proteolytic cytokine-like function. The search for exact target proteins and receptor molecules for tPA along with the identification of the mechanism regulating tPA expression and release in the nervous system will enable us to better understand several key neurological processes like teaming and memory as well as to obtain therapeutic tools against neurodegenerative diseases.

미술과 집단성 (Art and Collectivity)

  • "When it comes to art, nationalism is a goodticket to ride with", says the title of a report in the Indian Express (Mumbai, 29 Oct 2000). The newspaper report goes on to say that since Indian art was kept "ethnic" by colonialism, national liberation meant opening up to the world on India's own terms. Advocacy, at the tail end of the 20th century, would contrast dramatically with the call by Rabindranath Tagore, the founder of the academy at Santiniketan in 1901, to guard against the fetish of nationalism. "The colourless vagueness of cosmopolitanism," Tagore pronounced, "nor thefierce self-idolatry of nation-worship, is the goal of human history" (Nationalism, 1917). This contrast is significant on two counts. First is the positive aspect of "nation" as a frame in art production or circulation, at the current point of globalization when massive expansion of cultural consumers may be realized through prevailing communication networks and technology. The organization of the information market, most vividly demonstrated through the recent FIFA World Cup when one out of every five living human beings on earth watched the finals, is predicated on nations as categories. An extension of the Indian Express argument would be that tagging of artworks along the category of nation would help ensure greatest reception, and would in turn open up the reified category of "art," so as to consider new impetus from aesthetic traditions from all parts of the world many of which hereto fore regarded as "ethnic," so as to liberate art from any hegemony of "international standards." Secondly, the critique of nationalism points to a transnational civic sphere, be it Tagore's notion of people-not-nation, or the much mo re recent "transnational constellation" of Jurgen Habermas (2001), a vision for the European Union w here civil sphere beyond confines of nation opens up new possibilities, and may serve as a model for a liberated sphere on global scale. There are other levels of collectivity which art may address, for instance the Indonesian example of local communities headed by Ketua Rukun Tetangga, the neighbourhood headmen, in which community matters of culture and the arts are organically woven into the communal fabric. Art and collectivity at the national-transnational level yield a contrasting situation of, on the idealized end, the dual inputs of local culture and tradition through "nation" as necessary frame, and the concurrent development of a transnational, culturally and aesthetically vibrant civic sphere that will ensure a cosmopolitanism that is not a "colourless vagueness." In art historical studies, this is seen, for instance, in the recent discussion on "cosmopolitan modernisms." Conversely, we may see a dual tyranny of a nationalism that is a closure (sometimes stated as "ethno-nationalism" which is disputable), and an internationalism that is evolved through restrictive understanding of historical development within privileged expressions. In art historical terms, where there is a lack of investigation into the reality of multiple modernisms, the possibility of a democratic cosmopolitanism in art is severely curtailed. The advocacy of a liberal cosmopolitanism without a democratic foundation returns art to dominance of historical privileged category. A local community with lack of transnational inputs may sometimes place emphasis on neo-traditionalism which is also a double edged sword, as re kindling with traditions is both liberating and restrictive, which in turn interplays with the push and pull of the collective matrix.

염산레르카니디핀 체내동태 연구를 위한 혈청 중 레르카니디핀의 LC/MS/MS 정량법 검증 (Validation of an LC/MS/MS Method for the Pharmacokinetic Study of Lercanidipine)

  • A rapid, simple and sensitive LC/MS/MS method for the determination of lercanidipine in human serum was validated and applied to the pharmacokinetic study of lercanidipine. Lercanidipine and internal standard, amlodipine, were extracted from human serum by liquid-liquid extraction with hexan-isoamyl alcohol (100: 1, v/v) and analyzed on a $Symmetry^{(R)}$ MS $C_{18}$ column with the mobile phase of acetonitrile-0.2% aqueous formic acid (70: 30, v/v). Using MS/MS with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode, lercanidipine and amlodipine were detected without severe interferences from human serum matrix. Lercanidipine produced a protonated precursor ion ($[M+H]^+$) at m/z 612.3 and a corresponding product ion at m/z 280.0. Internal standard produced a protonated precursor ion ($[M+H]^+$]) at m/z 409.0 and a corresponding product ion at m/z 238.0. The ruggedness of this method was investigated using quality control (QC) samples. This method showed linear response over the concentration range of 0.05-20 ng/mL with correlation coefficient greater than 0.999. The lower limit of quantitation using 0.5 mL of serum was 0.05 ng/mL, which was sensitive enough for pharmacokinetic studies. The overall accuracy of the developed method ranged from 85.51 to 112.2% for lercanidipine with overall precision (% C.V.) being 3.56-13.1%. This method showed good ruggedness (within 15% C.V.) and was successfully applied for the analysis of lercanidipine in human serum samples for the pharmacokinetic studies, demonstrating the suitability of the method.

반도체 검증을 위한 MPI 기반 클러스터에서의 대용량 FDTD 시뮬레이션 연산환경 구축 (Implementation of Massive FDTD Simulation Computing Model Based on MPI Cluster for Semi-conductor Process)

  • 반도체 공정에서는 소자 내부의 물리량 계산을 통해 불순물의 움직임을 해석하여 결점을 검출하는 시뮬레이션을 수행하게 된다. 이를 위해 유한 차분 시간 영역 알고리즘(Finite-Difference Time-Domain, 이하 FDTD)과 같은 수치해석 기법이 사용된다. 반도체 칩의 집적도 향상으로 인하여 소자의 크기는 나노스케일 시대로 접어들었으며, 시뮬레이션 사이즈 또한 커지고 있는 추세이다. 이에 따라 CPU와 GPU 같은 하나의 연산 장치에서 수행할 수 없는 문제와 다중의 연산 장치로 구성된 한 대의 컴퓨터에서 수행할 수 없는 문제가 발생하기도 한다. 이러한 문제로 인해 분산 병렬처리를 통한 FDTD 알고리즘 연구가 진행되고 있다. 하지만 기존의 연구들은 단일 연산장치만을 이용하기 때문에 GPU를 사용하는 경우 연산 속도는 빠르나 메모리의 제한이 있으며 CPU의 경우 GPU에 비해 연산 속도가 느린 단점이 존재한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 CPU, GPU의 이기종 연산 장치를 포함하는 컴퓨터로 구축된 클러스터 상에서 작업 사이즈에 제한되지 않고 시뮬레이션 수행이 가능한 컴퓨팅 모델을 구현하였다. 점대점 통신 기반의 MPI 라이브러리를 이용하여 연산 장치 간 통신을 통한 시뮬레이션을 테스트 하였고 사용하는 연산 장치의 종류와 수에 상관없이 시뮬레이션이 정상 동작함을 확인하였다.

관측행렬에 대한 전처리 Cholesky-Factor Downdating 기법 (Preprocessed Cholesky-Factor Downdatings for Observation Matrices)

  • 본 논문에서는 다행관측행렬 Z$^T$를 빠르게 downdating하기 위하여 Z$^T$의 partial Cholesky factor Rz를 계산하는 전처리 과전을 거친 후, RZ에 각각 기존의 GD(Givens Downdting)기법과 HD(Hyperbolic Downdating)기법을 적용한 PGD(Preprocessed GD)기법 과 PHD(Preprocessed HD)기법을 제안하였다. p$\times$n(p$\geq$n)크기의 다행관측행렬 ZT를 downdating 하는 데필요한 시간복잡도는 PGD 및 PHD기법을 이용한downdating의 경우 에 각각 $pn^2$$5n^3/6$$pn^2$$n^3/3$ flops이며, 기존의GD기법또는 HD기법을이용한 downdating에서는 각각 5np2/2 과 2np2 flops이므로 다행관측행렬 Z$^T$를 partial Cholesky factor RTZ로 분할하는 전처리 과정이 downdating알고리즘의 성능을 개선할 수 있음을 보여준다. Sun SPARC/2 시스템에서의 벤치 마크 실험 결과도 전처리 과정을 거친 알고리즘의 실행 속도가 전 처리 과정을 거치지 않은 알고리즘에 비하여 빠른 결과 를 얻었으며, 두가지 전처리 기법 중에서도 PHD 기법이 PGD기법 보다 시간복잡도 측면 에서 우수하였다.

평균 제곱 투영 오차의 기울기에 기반한 가변 망각 인자 FAPI 알고리즘 (Mean Square Projection Error Gradient-based Variable Forgetting Factor FAPI Algorithm)

  • 본 논문에서는 고속 부공간 추적 기법인 FAPI (Fast Approsimated Power Iteration)에 GVFF RLS (Gradient-based Variable Forgetting Factor Recursive Least Square Error)를 적용한 GVFF FAPI 를 제안한다. 기존의 FAPI는 신호의 공분산 행렬을 추정하기 위해 고정 망각 인자를 사용하기에, 부공간이 지속적으로 변하는 비정재 환경에 적용하기 여려운 단점이 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해, GVFF FAPI는 개선된 MSE (Mean Square Error)의 분석으로부터 유도된 MSE의 기울기 기반의 시변 망각 인자를 사용한다. 또한 GVFF RLS의 망각 인자 업데이트 식을 개선하여 부공간이 지속적으로 변하는 비정재 환경에서 부공간 에러를 줄인다. 개선된 망각 인자 업데이트 식은 MSE의 기울기가 양수이면 망각 인자를 빠르게 감소하게 하고 MSE의 기울기가 음수이면 망각 인자를 천천히 증가시킨다. 모의실험을 통해서 도래각이 지속적으로 변하는 환경에서 GVFF FAPI 알고리즘이 기존의 FAPI 알고리즘보다 작은 부공간 에러를 가지는 것을 보이고, 추적된 부공간을 도래각 추정기법에 적용하였을 때 추적된 도래각의 RMSE (Root Mean Square Error)가 더 작은 것을 확인한다.
