Using the fusion of spatial and temporal features for malicious video classification (공간과 시간적 특징 융합 기반 유해 비디오 분류에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, malicious video classification and filtering techniques are of practical interest as ones can easily access to malicious multimedia contents through the Internet, IPTV, online social network, and etc. Considerable research efforts have been made to developing malicious video classification and filtering systems. However, the malicious video classification and filtering is not still being from mature in terms of reliable classification/filtering performance. In particular, the most of conventional approaches have been limited to using only the spatial features (such as a ratio of skin regions and bag of visual words) for the purpose of malicious image classification. Hence, previous approaches have been restricted to achieving acceptable classification and filtering performance. In order to overcome the aforementioned limitation, we propose new malicious video classification framework that takes advantage of using both the spatial and temporal features that are readily extracted from a sequence of video frames. In particular, we develop the effective temporal features based on the motion periodicity feature and temporal correlation. In addition, to exploit the best data fusion approach aiming to combine the spatial and temporal features, the representative data fusion approaches are applied to the proposed framework. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our method, we collect 200 sexual intercourse videos and 200 non-sexual intercourse videos. Experimental results show that the proposed method increases 3.75% (from 92.25% to 96%) for classification of sexual intercourse video in terms of accuracy. Further, based on our experimental results, feature-level fusion approach (for fusing spatial and temporal features) is found to achieve the best classification accuracy.

A Study of Developing and Applying of Learner-leading e-Learning Contents Model for Vacational High school (전문계고 교수-학습 효과성 제고를 위한 학습자 주도형 e-Learning 콘텐츠 모델 개발 및 적용 연구 - 「공업입문」 교과목을 중심으로 -)

  • As the way to intensify vocational education, the places to learn and work merge into one educational system and teaching-learning methods that were pointed at lecturer level are adjusted to learners level. However, the current education environment of vocational highschool doesn't keep up with a new teaching and learning paradigm due to the lack of government-level support and the lecturer level education as well. In this paper, we present a novel learner-leading e-Learning teaching & learning contents framework that intensifying self leading education. In this framework, we concern the ability of self leading, space perception and lesson preparation, preferences of multimedia, scholastic aptitude level and achievement level of students in vocational highschool. Moreover, with following the protocol of the suggested model, we generate a new e-learning contents applying to the subject "Introduction to industry". Especially, to perform better quality of contents, we have survey the whole content of the subject and assorted part of it that would work best with learner-leading e-Learning teaching and learning contents. As we tentatively apply e-learning contents to students in vocational highschool, 79% of them replied that contents brought advantages to get school accomplishment, whereas 19% of students answered in negative that contents wasn't helpful than we've expected. Therefore, the statistical results probe that the e-learning contents we proposed show positive effect, and we analyzed the reasons that deteriorate the effects of contents as shortage of budget and copyright limitation.

A Study on the Implementation of a Community-based LIS Capstone Course: Developing the 21st Century Skills of Preservice Librarians through Human Library Projects (지역사회협력 기반 문헌정보학 캡스톤 교과목 개발과 운영에 관한 연구 - 휴먼라이브러리 프로젝트 수행을 통한 21세기 학습 기술 강화를 중심으로 -)

  • This case study reports on the redevelopment of a course, Local Culture Information Theory offered by the Department of Library and Information Science at C University, into a capstone design course using a project-based learning approach. In collaboration with a local community youth organization, the redesigned course provided an opportunity for LIS students to develop and implement a digital literacy program that enabled high school students to use a variety of digital multimedia technologies to complete a project of digital Human Library featuring video, audio, and digital are such as webtoons. Through semi-structured interviews with 5 students and 3 staff from partner organizations, this study reports on course development process, the establishment of local partnerships, project outcome, as well as suggestions for improvements. In addition, a qualitative analysis of the participating students' interview responses using the Framework for 21st Century Learning (P21) found they developed and improved 11 skills across three core areas: life and career skills including self-direction, project management, collaboration with diverse teams, flexibility, responsibility, leadership; learning and innovation skills including communication and collaboration, problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking; and information, media, and technology skills through media creation. Lessons learned and recommendations from this case study may be useful for other LIS programs and faculty interested in implementing project-based learning or developing capstone design courses.

  • It is important to retrieve effectively the visual media such as pictures and video in the internet, especially to the application areas such as electronic art museum, e-commerce, and internet shopping malls. It is also needed in these areas to have content-based or even semantic-based multimedia retrieval instead of simple keyword-based retrieval. In our earlier research, we proposed a semantic-based visual media retrieval framework for the effective retrieval of the visual media from the internet. It uses visual media metadata and ontology based on the web service to achieve the semantic-based retrieval. In this research, there are more than one visual media service providers and one central service broker. As a preliminary step to the visual media data retrieval, a method is proposed to retrieve the service providers effectively. The method uses the structure of the ontology tree to obtain the providers and their rankings. It also uses the size of sub nodes and child nodes in the tree. It measures the rankings of providers more effectively than previous method. The experimental results show the accuracy of the method while keeping compatible speed against the existing method.

Object Detection based on Mask R-CNN from Infrared Camera (적외선 카메라 영상에서의 마스크 R-CNN기반 발열객체검출)

  • Recently introduced Mask R - CNN presents a conceptually simple, flexible, general framework for instance segmentation of objects. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for efficiently searching objects of images, while creating a segmentation mask of heat generation part for an instance which is a heating element in a heat sensed image acquired from a thermal infrared camera. This method called a mask R - CNN is an algorithm that extends Faster R - CNN by adding a branch for predicting an object mask in parallel with an existing branch for recognition of a bounding box. The mask R - CNN is added to the high - speed R - CNN which training is easy and fast to execute. Also, it is easy to generalize the mask R - CNN to other tasks. In this research, we propose an infrared image detection algorithm based on R - CNN and detect heating elements which can not be distinguished by RGB images. As a result of the experiment, a heat-generating object which can not be discriminated from Mask R-CNN was detected normally.

A Study of Game Project Curriculum for Integrated Subject (통합교과로서의 게임 프로젝트 교육과정 운영방안 탐구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest an curriculum model of teaching scheme which performs team project learning based on Integrated project with different fields. To address this goal, the present study suggests a practical game project model under the same game-making circumstances as game industry by consisting of real case of convergence parts(game graphic, game design, game program). This project-based learning case has been conducting Integrated project education since 2008 in A educational Institute in Korea. The results of study suggest a standard of Integrated-based curriculum model and it is constructed with two parts. The first part is what students learned during project processing, such as responsibility, communication. The other part is how to construct the educational environment for integrated project. It explains how to organize and build teams, plan of integrated project, rule the role of team task, perform collaborative task, present interim/final presentation, evaluate grade. This study is expected to be utilized as a framework for the instructional design and the guideline for improving learner competency in team project learning.

Fundamental study on the technology and application for the Next Generation Digital Textbook (차세대 디지털교과서를 위한 기반기술 및 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The digital textbook project which embarked by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has focused on experiments and practices from the school designated by the government. However the previous research about digital textbook provides static interaction models and teaching-learning models analogous to web-based learning based desktop PC even the framework of the digital textbook is based of Tablet PC. This paper provides learning and teaching models for next generation digital textbook which based digital inking techinques for sketcth interface and AR(augmented reality) interactions between teacher and learner. The proposed method of this paper is applied to educational contents and we found positive effect which is supported by statistical experiments. The results of this study in the future and the future development of digital textbooks in effect will be an effective development plan.

A Design and Implementation of a Home Gateway based on the RTC Technology Supporting Live Video Streaming (라이브 비디오 스트리밍을 지원하는 RTC 기반 홈 게이트웨이의 설계 및 구현)

  • The objective of this paper lies in the design and implementation of a home gateway supporting live video streaming which flows from the Non-SIP video camera in home to the mobile SIP device outside. We developed the home gateway on the OSGi framework and employed the RTC technology which embeds an SIP stack so that the multimedia session can be established from the home device to the mobile user outside. And also we developed an RTC bundle to manage the session and a virtual capture device driver to read the video stream from the Non-SIP video camera in the home network, and installed them on the home gateway. Finally, we constructed the experimental environment that has the windows messenger as the SIP mobile device and an AXIS 2100 UPnP video camera as a video source, and then tested if the session establishment to the mobile user from the camera and live video streaming work well between them.

APBT-JPEG Image Coding Based on GPU

  • In wireless multimedia sensor networks (WMSN), the latency of transmission is an increasingly problem. With the improvement of resolution, the time cost in image and video compression is more and more, which seriously affects the real-time of WMSN. In JPEG system, the core of the system is DCT, but DCT-JPEG is not the best choice. Block-based DCT transform coding has serious blocking artifacts when the image is highly compressed at low bit rates. APBT is used in this paper to solve that problem, but APBT does not have a fast algorithm. In this paper, we analyze the structure in JPEG and propose a parallel framework to speed up the algorithm of JPEG on GPU. And we use all phase biorthogonal transform (APBT) to replace the discrete cosine transform (DCT) for the better performance of reconstructed image. Therefore, parallel APBT-JPEG is proposed to solve the real-time of WMSN and the blocking artifacts in DCT-JPEG in this paper. We use the CUDA toolkit based on GPU which is released by NVIDIA to design the parallel algorithm of APBT-JPEG. Experimental results show that the maximum speedup ratio of parallel algorithm of APBT-JPEG can reach more than 100 times with a very low version GPU, compared with conventional serial APBT-JPEG. And the reconstructed image using the proposed algorithm has better performance than the DCT-JPEG in terms of objective quality and subjective effect. The proposed parallel algorithm based on GPU of APBT also can be used in image compression, video compression, the edge detection and some other fields of image processing.

A Building Method of Designing National Cyber Security Governance Model Through Diagnosis of Operational Experience (정보보안체계 운영경험 진단을 통한 국가 사이버보안 거버넌스 모델 연구 방법)

  • This Study aims to propose a new information security governance model design method for streamlining security governance at national strategic level. The research method of this study is to diagnose our operational experience and to derive a new model design method. In the meantime, national information security activities were perceived to be focused on knowledge transfer, and motivation of activities and securing of executive power were weak. As a result, security blind spots and frequent occurrence of large security incidents have become unresolved challenges. National cyber security governance should be grouped together as a whole systematically from the upper policy to the lower level of performance under the responsibility of the national leader. Based on this approach, this study presented the comprehensive framework of Korean security governance model and embodied it into four architectural designs such as vision, goal, process, and performance, thus deriving the foundation for future national governance model design. Further research is needed to diagnose problems in life cycle flow, security policies based on environmental changes, and new frameworks in which all subjects participate.
