A Study on the Flow Control Based Estimated Receiving Capacity on the Video Conference System (화상회의 시스템에서 수신능력 예측을 이용한 흐름제어에 관한 연구)

  • With the development of networks, multimedia communication has expanded its application field. From the remote control for household electric appliances to medicine, games, video conferencing and multimedia chatting, multimedia communication is being used in all parts of our lives. This multimedia communication requires the transmission of a lot of data at high speed. But if the transmission rate of the communication network exceeds the processing speed of being used in the high speed network environment, a bottleneck occurs in each node and deteriorates the performance of the network. This is the main reason for the slow speed of data transmission and packet loss. In this paper, considering the client's processing performance, reception performance was predicted and the way of flow control was shown. The computing performance of relevant Processor and its performance was estimated through the actual implementation.

  • 햅틱 인터페이스 장치는 가상공간 상에서 얻어지는 시각적 효과와 더불어 힘(촉각)을 전달하여 사용자에게 현실감을 줄 수 있는 장치이다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 용도로 사용할 수 있는 2 차원 햅틱 인터페이스 장치를 설계 및 제작하고, 입체영상 시스템과 연동하여 오락실에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 에어하키 시스템을 가상현실 기술로 구현하였다. 이때 적절한 모델링과 햅틱 렌더링을 통하여 가상 에어하키 공을 칠 때 사용자가 핸들을 잡은 손으로 느끼는 충격과 반력을 2 차원 햅틱 인터페이스 장치를 통하여 느낄 수 있도록 하였다. 구현된 시스템의 시연을 통하여 공과 핸들의 충돌 시 공이 튕겨 나가는 방향과 속도가 실제와 유사하고 공과 핸들에서 충돌이 일어날 때 실제와 상당히 유사한 느낌은 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • Wavelet transform (WT) has attracted most engineers and scientists because of its excellent properties. The coherence of practical approach and a theoretical basis not only solves currently important problems, but also gives the potential of formulating and solving completely new problems. It has been show that multi-resolution analysis of Wavelet transforms is good solution in speech analysis and threshold of wavelet coefficients has near optimal noise reduction property for many classes of signals. This paper proposed applications of wavelet in speech processing: pitch detection, voice-unvoice (V -UV) decision, denoising with the detailed algorithms and results.

  • 비디오 하이라이트 요약을 위해 내용기반에 의한 의미 있는 이벤트의 검출 방법에 대해 논하였다. 제안된 방법은 비디오 파싱을 포함한 5개의 단계로 구성 되었고, 다수의 기술자가 하위 레벨 특징들의 추출과 정확한 이벤트 검출을 위해 사용 되었다. 특징의 추출에 사용하는 샷과 키 프레임은 이벤트 검출에 힌트가 되는 부분만 사용함으로써 계산 복잡도를 줄였다. 각 샷은 사전에 정의된 추론 방법에 의해 요소가 부여되고, 이들 샷들의 의미를 통합하여 하나의 이벤트가 구성 된다.

  • This Paper describes the system configuration and implementation method of an IMPRES (Interactive Multimedia exPRESS) terminal. The terminal is developed in the form of a PC add-on board that is called MINIBA (Media and Network Interface Board Assembly). IMPRESS is a communication service platform that support various interactive multimedia services. The main objectives of developing IMPRESS are to implement DAVIC compliant services platform to verify DAVIC specification and to support testing environment. Currently IMPRESS terminal provides MPEG-2 quality movies on demand, switched video broadcasting, and home-shopping service to the service user, based on the ATM network.

  • 최근, 현대인들은 자동차의 성능과 기능을 뛰어넘어 좀 더 감성적이고, 정서적 만족감을 제공하는 제품을 기대하고, 원하고 있다. 감성 Information & Communication Technology(ICT)는 정보 통신 기술을 기반으로 인간의 감성을 자동 인지하고, 사용자의 감성과 상황 정보를 처리하여 상황에 맞게 적용하는 기술을 말한다. 향후 감성 ICT 기술은 인간의 감성을 인지하여 사용자와 기기가 서로 교감하는 형태인 감성 맞춤형 서비스로 발전될 전망이다. 본 논문에서는 자동차 감성 ICT의 기술 동향을 분석하고 향후 방향성을 모색하고자 한다.

  • Interval caching is one of the representative caching strategies used in multimedia streaming systems. However, there has been no theoretical analysis on interval caching. In this paper, we present an optimality proof of the interval caching policy. Specifically, we propose a caching performance model for multimedia streaming systems and show the optimality of the interval caching policy based on this model.

  • Due to the difference between the underwater communication environment and the terrestrial communication environment, the radio communication mainly used on the ground cannot be used in underwater. For this reason, in the underwater communication environment, various communication media such as acoustic waves, infrared rays, light and so on has been studied, but there exist several difficulties in operating them individually due to their physical limitations. The concept for overcoming these difficulties is the very underwater multi-media communication, a method to select a communication medium best suitable for the current underwater environment among underwater communication multimedia whenever there occurs underwater communication failure. In this paper, we present an underwater multi-media communication network based on star topology and a fragmentation and reassembly technique to solve the problems caused by the different MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) sizes among different underwater communication media. We also present the estimations and analysis on processing times in each of fragmentation and reassembly and the total data amount for transmitting fragments in our proposed underwater multi-media communication network.
