  • Hybrid transformer means the distribution transformer, one of multi-function transformer equipped with the enhancement function of harmonics and unbalance. In other words, since existing transformer are equipped simply with transformation function only, a separated electric facility should be additionally installed in order to reduce the mutual harmonics and unbalance. Meanwhile, since hybrid transformer can perform the reduction of harmonics and unbalance as well as transformation function simultaneously through zigzag winding, it doesn't need any additional electric facility. This study addressed the issue of developing and testing the performance of a generator that would reduce the harmonics supplied to the grid when grid-connected with the output of a photovoltaic inverter for photovoltaic generation system.

  • In this paper, a novel type of auxiliary switched capacitor assisted edge resonant soft switching PWM resonant DC-DC converter with two simple auxiliary commutation lossless inductor snubbers is presented. The operation principle of this converter is described using the switching mode equivalent circuits. This newly developed multi resonant DC-DC converter can regulate its DC output AC power under a principle of constant frequency edge-resonant soft switching commutation by an asymmetrical PWM duty cycle control scheme. The high frequency power regulation and actual power characteristics of the proposed soft switching PWM resonant DC-DC converter are evaluated and discussed. The operating performances of the newly proposed soft switching inverter are represented based on simulation results from an applications point of view.

  • In order to increase the power generation efficiency of the photovoltaic system, a new algorithm that can follow the maximum power point of the photovoltaic power generation system having nonlinear output characteristics is proposed. Conventional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms such as Perturbation and Observation (P&O) and InCond (Increment and Conductance) schemes can not find the global maximum power point at a plurality of pole points in the unmatched state of unbalanced PV modules. However, even if the global maximum power point is found at a plurality of pole points, the global maximum power that can not be the real maximum power by the photovoltaic generation system. In order to solve this problem, a few PV companies propose installing several small PV inverters instead of if big one. However, since this will require additional costs, we herein propose a Multi-MPPT system using individual 3-point MPPT to track true MPPT at a plurality of pole points in the unmatched state of unbalanced PV modules.

  • This paper describes a delay-locked loop (DLL) that generates a 64-phase clock with the operating frequency of 125MHz. The proposed DLL use a $4{\times}8$ matrix-based delay line to improve the linearity of a delay line. The output clock with 64-phase is generated by using a CMOS multiplex and a inverted-based interpolator from 32-phase clock which is the output clock of the $4{\times}8$ matrix-based delay line. The circuit for an initial phase lock, which is independent on the duty cycle ratio of the input clock, is used to prevent from the harmonic lock of a DLL. The proposed DLL is designed using a $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS process with a 1.8 V supply. The simulated operating frequency range is 40 MHz to 200 MHz. At the operating frequency of a 125 MHz, the worst phase error and jitter of a 64-phase clock are +11/-12 ps and 6.58 ps, respectively.

  • The fuel cell system is one of very useful energy sources. The system has advantages as renew-able and environmental sources. To obtain AC electricity from fuel cells, inverters are necessary. A multilevel converter is used as an inverter for a high power fuel cell system. Through harmonic analysis, it is shown that the harmonic components and THD increase while fundamental component decreases as voltage sag increases. To solve the voltage sag problems, three different approaches are investigated in this paper; installation of a boost converter at the fuel cell output, control of pulse widths, and use of ultracapacitors. The proposed three approaches are analyzed and compared using simulation and experimental results.

  • The maximum output torque and power developed by the machine is ultimately depended on the allowable inverter current rating and maximum voltage which the inverter can supply to the machine. Therefore, considering the limited voltage and current capacities, it is desirable to consider a control method which yields the best possible torque per ampere. In this paper, we propose fuzzy neural network(FNN) controller that combines a fuzzy control and the neural network for high performance control of induction motor drive. This controller composes antecedence of the fuzzy rules and consequence by a clustering method and a multi-layer neural networks. This controller is compounding of advantages that robust control of a fuzzy control and high-adaptive control of the neural networks. Also, this paper is proposed control of maximum torque per ampere(MTPA) of induction moor. This strategy is reposed which is simple in structure and has the honest goal of minimizing the stator current magnitude for given load torque. The performance of the proposed induction motor drive with maximum torque control using FNN controller is verified by analysis results at dynamic operation conditions.
