  • Distribution Management System(DMS) ienhancing distribution automation system-based operation efficiency is an optimized system by various operational applications in a distribution network. DMS employs various applications like topology reconfiguration, volt/var control, and restoration at events such as overload, voltage violation, and a fault in a distribution system. An operation efficiency to employ multi-applications as restoration with short-term load forecasting is higher than a performance by a single application; and the applications are accomplished by an operator’s control. Applications’ combination is determined by various alarm information which means critical issues in order to operate a distribution system. Thus, this paper proposes an application management system which can configure application combination, control applications depending on alarm information and check their performance condition. The proposed application management system can be customized by operator easily and have high operation efficiency and reliability because it is worked by reviewed alarm information from operator.

A Study on Convergence Video System through Step Squencer (스텝시켄서를 통한 융복합 영상시스템 연구)

  • Recently, many musical instrument mobile apps have been released targeting normal people who can't play musical instrument at all. The reason of developing video system based on step sequencer are as follows; first, users can freely play the musical instruments; second, induce multiple users to play; and third, develop and suggest new step sequencer fused with the video. To resolve issue in video synchronization caused by sync issues when operating multiple step sequencers, the Pocket Operator of Teenage Engineering was used to realize multiply-connected step sequencer and also, the ultimate video system was developed through Mira-Web for multiple participation. In addition, it's required to make the Pocket Operator as software and receive various feedbacks to continue and complement study in order to develop the better video system.

  • A new monitoring system is proposed to give direct visual information of the remote site when working with a tele-operation system. In order to have a similar behavior of a human when he is inspecting an object, multiple cameras that have different view point are attached around the robot hand and are switched on and elf according to the operator´s motion such as joystick manipulation or operator´s head movement.   • During the last few decades, excavation automation has been investigated to protect the operator from the hazardous working environment and to relieve the cost of the skilled operator. Therefore, a number of modelling and controller design methods of the hydraulic excavator are proposed in many literatures to realize the excavation automation. In this article, a geometric approach far the multi-body system modeling is adopted to develop the excavator mechanism model that contains 4 kinematic loops and 12 links. Considering a simple soil mechanism model with a number of uncertain soil parameters, an adaptive trajectory tracking control strategy based on the developed excavator model is proposed. The improved performance of the designed controller over the simple PID controller is validated via the simulation study.

  • With the advancement in the field of image processing, images are being processed using various image processing algorithms. Nowadays, many efficient content-aware image resizing techniques are being used to safeguard the prominent regions and to generate better results that are visually appealing and pleasing while resizing. Advancements in the new display device with varying screen size demands the development of efficient image resizing algorithm. This paper presents a survey on various image retargeting methods, comparison of image retargeting results based on performance, and also exposes the main challenges in image retargeting such as content preservation of important regions, distortion minimization, and improving the efficiency of image retargeting methods. After reviewing literature from researchers it is suggested that the use of the single operator in image retargeting such as scaling, cropping, seam carving, and warping is not sufficient for obtaining satisfactory results, hence it is essential to combine multiple image retargeting operators. This survey is useful for the researchers interested in content-aware image retargeting.

  • The smart space is composed of the wire and/or wireless network, multi-sensor-based environment, and many various controllers. For the smart space, this paper presents a new design method of multirate digital decentralized controller using the intelligent digital redesign technique. In specific, the proposed method is based on the delta-operator and the multirate sampling and takes the form of the LMIs. To shows the feasibility of the suggested method, the computer simulations for Heating, ventilating, and ai. conditioning (HVAC) system are provided.

  • In this paper, we proposed a hardware-oriented Genetic Algorithm Processor(GAP) based on subpopulation architecture for high-performance convergence and reducing computation time. The proposed architecture was applied to enhancing population diversity for correspondence to premature convergence. In addition, the crossover operator selection and linear ranking subpop selection were newly employed for efficient exploration. As stochastic search space selection through linear ranking and suitable genetic operator selection with respect to the convergence state of each subpopulation was used, the elapsed time of searching optimal solution was shortened. In the experiments, the computation speed was increased by over $10\%$ compared to survival-based GA and Modified-tournament GA. Especially, increased by over $20\%$ in the multi-modal function. The proposed Subpop GA processor was implemented on FPGA device APEX EP20K600EBC652-3 of AGENT 2000 design kit.

Palmprint Verification Using Multi-scale Gradient Orientation Maps

  • This paper proposes a new approach to palmprint verification based on the gradient, in which a palm image is considered to be a three-dimensional terrain. Principal lines and wrinkles make deep and shallow valleys on a palm landscape. Then the steepest slope direction in each local area is first computed using the Kirsch operator, after which an orientation map is created that represents the dominant slope direction of each pixel. In this study, three orientation maps were made with different scales to represent local and global gradient information. Next, feature matching based on pixel-unit comparison was performed. The experimental results showed that the proposed method is superior to several state-of-the-art methods. In addition, the verification could be greatly improved by fusing orientation maps with different scales.

  • When designing workplaces, controls should be placed within the reach of operator's arm or foot to guarantee effective performance. The aviation industry is perhaps the chief user of anthropometric data for its need to weight minimization and space optimization. In designing a workplace which must cater to a wide range of operator size, it might be sufficient to plan only for the 'average person'. Static arm reach measurements which are taken in conventional, standardized positions provide the necessary information, but they cannot be directly applied to dynamic situations. In this research, an approximate algorithm to generate the workspace of the human body including foot reach and trunk motion is proposed and tested. The robot kinematics was employed to represent the human body as a multi-link system.

SUMMABILITY IN MUSIELAK-ORLICZ HARDY SPACES

  • Let 𝜑 : ℝn × [0, ∞) → [0, ∞) be a growth function and H𝜑(ℝn) the Musielak-Orlicz Hardy space defined via the non-tangential grand maximal function. A general summability method, the so-called 𝜃-summability is considered for multi-dimensional Fourier transforms in H𝜑(ℝn). Precisely, with some assumptions on 𝜃, the authors first prove that the maximal operator of the 𝜃-means is bounded from H𝜑(ℝn) to L𝜑(ℝn). As consequences, some norm and almost everywhere convergence results of the 𝜃-means, which generalizes the well-known Lebesgue's theorem, are then obtained. Finally, the corresponding conclusions of some specific summability methods, such as Bochner-Riesz, Weierstrass and Picard-Bessel summations, are also presented.
