  • This paper describes a simple pseudo-random carrier modulation technique for the acoustic noise reduction of the three phase multi-level inverter based motor drives. The proposed method generates a new pseudo-random carrier by randomly synthesizing a carrier with fixed frequency and a carrier with opposition phase. To confirm the validity of the proposed method, a 130v three-phase multi-level inverter was Implemented and tested. The experimental results show that the output line voltage and acoustic noise harmonics spectra of an inverter have broadening effect of harmonics, as only simple synthesis of fixed frequency carries.

  • The application of SRM(Switched Reluctance Motor) is dramatically increasing due to a simple mechanical structure, high efficiency and a good high speed characteristics. To control high conduction ratio in motor operation and regenerative voltage in the generator operation multi-level voltage control is effective. This paper proposes multi-level inverter to have a maximum conduction ratio of SRM. The proposed method is verified by experiments.

  • 멀티레벨 인버터는 대용량 전력변환 분야의 요구를 만족하면서 파형왜곡을 감소시켜 전력품질 향상시킬 수 있으므로 근래에 상당히 주목받고 있다. 그런데 전압레벨이 증가함에 따라 복잡한 PWM 알고리즘을 구현하는데 FPGA가 적합하다. 본 논문에서는 FPGA로 5-레벨 다이오드 클램핑형 멀티레벨 인버터의 PWM 신호발생 기법을 제시한다. 유도전동기 제어용 DSP와 FPGA사이에 3상 기준전압 값을 안정되게 전송하는 기법을 제시한다. 32-비트 DSP와 cyclone-III FPGA를 사용한 실험 및 시뮬레이션을 통하여 반송신호 발생 방법으로 PWM 신호를 발생시키는 기법의 타당성을 검증한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 고전압 전동기 가변속 장치인 H-브릿지 멀티레벨(H-Bridge Multi-Level; HBML) 인버터를 이용한 유도 전동기 벡터 제어시 인버터의 출력 전압 위상 지연 현상을 해석하고 전류 제어기의 보상 기법을 제시하였다. Phase-Shifted Pulse Width Modulation (PSPWM) 기법을 적용한 HBML 인버터는 개별 인버터 모듈이 독립적으로 동작할 수 있어서 확장성과 모듈화 능력이 향상되는 장점이 있다. 그러나 이러한 PSPWM을 적용한 HBML 인버터는 기준 전압과 실제 전압 사이에 위상 차이가 있기 때문에 출력 주파수에 대한 샘플링 주파수의 비율이 충분하지 않은 고속 영역에서 전류 제어기를 불안정하게 하는 원인이 된다. 전류 제어기의 불안정성은 기준 전압과 출력 전압의 위상 차이를 보상하는 제안된 방법을 추가함으로써 제거하였다. 본 방법은 인버터의 스위칭 주파수가 낮고, 전동기 속도가 높은 조건에서 PSPWM을 이용한 HBML 인버터 시스템에 효과적이며, 13레벨로 구성된 HBML 인버터로 구동되는 6,600[V] 1,400[kW] 유도전동기 실험을 통해 제안된 방법의 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • This paper is analyzed a new modulation method of OSW(Optimized Sine-Wave) modulation strategy for cascaded H-bridge multi-level inverter. The inverter structure was modified with the maximum output voltage level, and the switching angle was calculated easily to adjust the requested Vrms of the output. The suggested modulation method could make output waveform very close to the ideal sine wave, and the THD value was improved also remarkably.

  • This paper presents a systematical approach to study carrier based PWM techniques (CPWM) in diode-clamped and cascade multilevel inverters by using a proposed named multi-modulating pattern method. This method is based on the vector correlation between CPWM and the space vector PWM (SVPWM) and applicable to both multilevel inverter topologies. A CPWM technique can be described in a general mathematical equation, and obtain the same outputs similarly as of the corresponding SVPWM. Control of the fundamental voltage, vector redundancies and phase redundancies in multilevel inverter can be formulated separately in the CPWM equation. The deduced CPWM can obtain the full vector redundancy control, and fully utilize phase redundancy in a cascade inverter In this continued part, it will be deduced correlation between CPWM equations in multi-carrier system and single carrier system, present the mathematical model of voltage source inverter related to the common mode voltage and propose a general algorithm for multi-modulating modulator. The obtained theory will be demonstrated by simulation results.

  • Recently, we use a static synchronous compensator(STATCOM) with cascaded H-bride topologies, because it is easy to increase capacity and to reduce total harmonic distortion(THD). When we use equipment for reactive power compensation, dc-link voltage unbalances occur from several reasons although loads are balanced. In the past, switching pattern change of single phase inverter and reference voltage magnitude change of inverter equipped with power sensor have been used for dc-link voltage balance. But previous methods are more complicated and expensive because of additional component costs. Therefore, this paper explains reasons of dc-link voltage unbalance and proposes solution. This solution is complex method that is composed of reference voltage magnitude change of inverter without additional hardware and shifted phase angle of inverter reference voltages change. It proves possibility through 1000[KVA] system simulation.

  • This paper proposes the reliability improvement of H-Bridge Multi-level (HBM) inverter. This reliability can be implemented through modularization of power circuit, distribution of controller, duplication of controller and communication, and continuous operation method in case of power cell failure for driving medium-voltage & high-power induction motor. It is shown that the modularization and expansion characteristics of the HBM inverter are improved since the individual inverter modules operate more independently when using the proposed concept. Also the fault tolerance is increased by using power cell bypass. The proposed design and control methods are described in detail and the validity of the proposed system is verified experimentally in various industrial fields.
