The transmitted signal from a source is transmitted to a destination through wireless channels. But if the mobile destination is out of the coverage of the source or exists in the shady side of the coverage, the destination can not receiver the signal from the source and they can not maintain communication. In order to overcome these problems, we adopt relays. A system employing relays is a multi-hop relay system. In the multi-hop relay system, coverages of each relay that is used for different systems can overlap each other in some place. When there is a destination in this place, interference occurs at the destination. In this paper, we study on the efficient co-channel interference (CCI) cancellation algorithm. In the proposed strategy, CCI is mitigated by zero forcing (ZF) or minimum mean square error (MMSE) receivers. Moreover, successive interference cancellation (SIC) with optimal ordering algorithm is applied for rejecting CCI efficiently. And we analyzed and simulated the proposed system performance in Rayleigh fading channel. In order to justify the benefit of the proposed strategy, the overall system performance is illustrated in terms of bit error probability.

This paper presents an OFDM-based dual-hop multi-relay system with best relay selection maximizing the mutual information. For the system either with decode-and-forward (DF) relays or with amplify-and-forward (AF) relays, we derive a lower-bound on the outage probability and the diversity order achievable in frequency selective fading channels and provide the outage capacity from simulation. Performance evaluation shows that both DF and AF provide the same diversity order as in the lower-bound but DF of which the outage probability is much closer to the lower-bound provides a better outage capacity than AF. It is also observed that the SNR gain of DF over AF gets larger as either the number of resolvable multipaths or the number of relay candidates increases, which makes DF relaying more favorable to the OFDM-based multi-relay system.

In this paper, we propose the structures of the NBTC (Narrow-Beam Trisector Cell) and the WBTC(Wide-Beam Trisector Cell) in which directional antennas both at the base station and at the relay station are used. We analyze and compare total capacity of the both systems taking the co-channel interference into consideration for two channel models. Through analysis, we find the effect of LOS (Lind of Sight) path to the total capacity of NBTC structure and that of WBTC structure. Our work may be useful as a guideline to control the interference for the next generation mobile communication and WiBro systems using multi-hop relays.

LED is just a semiconductor which can produce light. Currently, there are active research works on LED lighting technologies according to the growth of energy-saving environmental industry. Especially, LED communication is one of the active research works in these fields. In this paper, we design a LED communication-based multi-hop transmission wireless network system. The designed system consists of a transmission circuit system(transmitter) using LED and a receiving circuit system(receiver) using PD(photo detector) and OP-Amp, and relay system which can support multi-hop wireless network service with PD, OP-Amp, and LED, respectively. The experiments for the designed system are performed as follows. One computer is connected at the end of transmitter and receiver, respectively. There are two relays between transmitter and receiver, and text files are transmitted continuously by using text transmission programming. In this experiment, we test the performance with various baud rates, transmission ranges.

In this paper, a multi-hop transmission protocol based on parallel communication of secondary users (SUs) is proposed. The primary multi-hop network coexists with a set of SUs by cooperative spectrum sharing. The main optimization target of our protocol is the overall performance of the secondary system with the guarantee of the primary outage performance. The energy consumption of the primary system is reduced by the cooperation of SUs. The aim of the primary source is to communicate with the primary destination via a number of primary relays. SUs may serve as extra decode-and-forward relays for the primary network. When an SU acts as a relay for a primary user (PU), some other SUs that satisfy the condition for parallel communication are selected to simultaneously access the primary spectrum for secondary transmissions. For the proposed protocol, two opportunistic routing strategies are proposed, and a search algorithm to select the SUs for parallel communication is described. The throughput of the SUs and the PU is illustrated. Numerical results demonstrate that the average throughput of the SUs is greatly improved, and the end-to-end throughput of the PU is slightly increased in the proposed protocol when there are more than seven SUs.

In this Paper, we propose a multi-hop transmission in cognitive underlay network. In Secondary network, We assume that a secondary source S attempts to transmit D its signal to a secondary destination via N+1 hops with help of N relays $R_1$, $R_2$, ${\ldots}$, $R_N$. At hop k between relay $R_k$ and relay $R_{k+1}$. we assume that there is a primary user $PU_k$. In this paper, we assume that these channels are Rayleigh fading channels. In underlay network, the secondary transmitter has to adapt its power so that the interference caused at the primary user is less than a maximum interference threshold. considering the hop transmission between the transmitter and the repeater, we find transmit power and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). Between the transmitter from the receiver depending on the number of relay in the underlay network, we compared to find the transmit power and signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). Finally we find optimal number of relay and optimal threshold value.

In this paper, we propose a LED communication based multi-hop audio data transmission network system. The main contribution and features of the proposed system are as follows. First, the contribution of this research is to develope the LED communication based multi-hop transmission network system which can transmit audio data signal with long distance via multi-hops. Second, the developed system has the following features: In transmitter, audio data is transmitted after encoding with S/PDIF format via a general LED. The relay receives digital audio signal by using photo diode and then transmits the signal to receiver after error checking and amplifying. The receiver receives the encoded audio data via photo diode and then converts to analog audio signal by using decoding and amplifying. The performance evaluation of the proposed system is conducted in the laboratory with fluorescent light source. The results of the performance evaluation confirm that the system can provide high quality audio transmission from transmiter to receiver via multi-hop relays in a long distance while we can see there are differences in the transmitted audio quality according to the used LED colors.

In this paper, we propose VLC(visible light communication) based multi-hop multimedia data transmission system. The main contributions and features of the proposed system are as follows. First, the contribution of this research is to develope the LED communication based multi-hop transmission network system which can transmit multimedia data(audio data, video data) with long distance. Second, the developed system has the following features: In transmitter, audio data and video data are transmitted via multi-hops using two channels. In this paper, a new handover procedure for OFDM-based multi-hop relay systems is proposed to reduce the handover overhead by distinguishing inter-cell handover event from intra-cell handover event at the level of physical layer using a hierarchical design concept of preamble. A Subcell ID concept for identifying RS in a cell is proposed in the design of hierarchical manner, in addition to the existing Cell ID for identifying BS. The decision on either inter-cell handover or intra-cell handover is made by the signal quality measure of CBINR(Carrier of BS to Interference and Noise Ratio) and CRINR(Carrier of RS to Interference and Noise Ratio), provided by the hierarchical preamble. The proposed handover procedure can simplify scanning procedure and skip/simplify network re-entry procedure (capability negotiation, authorization, registration), resulting in a significant reduction of handover overhead.

Conventional 1-1-1 cooperative protocol offers path-loss gain as advantage of multi-hop and spatial diversity which is equivalent to MIMO system. This protocol is enable to get higher reliability and reduction of power consumption than those of the single-hop or multi-hop. But the 1-1-1 cooperative protocol get only the diversity order 2 and limited path-loss reduction gain because this protocol has a single cooperative relay. We propose 1-2-1 cooperative protocol using two cooperative relays R1, R2. The 1-2-1 cooperative protocol can improve path-loss reduction and increase diversity order 3. Moreover, the cooperative relay R2 attains diversity order 2. The signaling method in transmission uses DF (Decode and Forward) or DR (Decode and Reencode) and 1-2-1 DF/DR cooperative protocol are applied to clustering based wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Simulations are performed to evaluate the performance of the protocols under Rayleigh fading channel plus AWGN (Additive White Gaussian Noise).
