Effects of the angle of secondary air inlet on the uniformity of temperature distribution inside an incinerator (2차 공기 주입각이 소각로 내부의 온도 분포 균일도에 미치는 영향)

  • This research is aimed to find out how the inlet angle of secondary air affects the uniformity of temperature distribution inside a small incinerator. A commercial code, PHOENICS, is used to simulate the thermal-flow field of an incinerator. The computational grid system is constructed by Multi-Block technique provided by PHOENICS. Numerical experiments are done with the five different angles of secondary air inlet. The uniformity of temperature distribution is evaluated by checking the standard deviation of temperature distribution in an incinerator. The computational results show that there is the minimum value of standard deviation at the certain angle of secondary air inlet, which means that there is an optimum angle of secondary air inlet that could improve the uniformity of temperature distribution in an incinerator. The optimum angle of secondary air inlet is between 30 degree and 45 degree in this particular case.

Percutaneous T2 and T3 Radiofrequency Sympathectomy for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome Secondary to Brachial Plexus Injury: A Case Series

  • Complex regional pain syndrome secondary to brachial plexus injury is often severe, debilitating and difficult to manage. Percuteneous radiofrequency sympathectomy is a relatively new technique, which has shown promising results in various chronic pain disorders. We present four consecutive patients with complex regional pain syndrome secondary to brachial plexus injury for more than 6 months duration, who had undergone percutaneous T2 and T3 radiofrequency sympathectomy after a diagnostic block. All four patients experienced minimal pain relief with conservative treatment and stellate ganglion blockade. An acceptable 6 month pain relief was achieved in all 4 patients where pain score remained less than 50% than that of initial score and all oral analgesics were able to be tapered down. There were no complications attributed to this procedure were reported. From this case series, percutaneous T2 and T3 radiofrequency sympathectomy might play a significant role in multi-modal approach of CRPS management.

  • To insert payload to the orbit over the 200km-altitude using launch vehicle which has 300sec the Isp, multi staging technique for launch is necessary. The range between the sea-level to the transfer orbit about 200~250km is for operation of 1st and 2nd rocket engines and the higher altitude is for propulsion system of the acceleration block and satellite. The upper stage rocket engine should have the high technology for entering the payload into the orbit precisely more than the performance for high thrust level. With this investigation of the upper stage rocket engines which have been used, we want to understand their development trend and prospect which is going to be references for the development of ours.

Graph Database Design and Implementation for Ransomware Detection (랜섬웨어 탐지를 위한 그래프 데이터베이스 설계 및 구현)

  • Recently, ransomware attacks have been infected through various channels such as e-mail, phishing, and device hacking, and the extent of the damage is increasing rapidly. However, existing known malware (static/dynamic) analysis engines are very difficult to detect/block against novel ransomware that has evolved like Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) attacks. This work proposes a method for modeling ransomware malicious behavior based on graph databases and detecting novel multi-complex malicious behavior for ransomware. Studies confirm that pattern detection of ransomware is possible in novel graph database environments that differ from existing relational databases. Furthermore, we prove that the associative analysis technique of graph theory is significantly efficient for ransomware analysis performance.

Efficient Symbol Detector for Multiple Antenna Communication Systems (다중 안테나 통신 시스템을 위한 효율적인 심볼 검출기 설계 연구)

  • In this paper, an area-efficient symbol detector is proposed for MIMO communication systems with two transmit and two receive antennas. The proposed symbol detector can support both the spatial multiplexing mode and spatial diversity mode for MIMO transmission technique, and shows the optimal maximum likelihood (ML) performance. Also, by sharing the hardware block with multi-stage pipeline structure and using the complex multiplier based on polar-coordinate,the complexity of the proposed architecture is dramatically decreased. The proposed symbol detector was designed in hardware description language (HDL) and implemented with Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA. With the proposed architecture, the number of logic slices for the proposed symbol detection is 52490 and the number of DSP48s (dedicated multiplier) is 52, which are reduced by 35.3% and 85.3%, respectively, compared with the conventional architecture.

  • Existing web server lowers the whole capacity of system because of the problem on the processing load of server by closing connection increasing code handshake operation, and remarkable decrease of server capacity if it is the state of overload. Also, there occurs disadvantages of increasing connection tine about client's request and response time because handling of client's multi-requests is not smooth because of thread block and it requests a lot of time and resources for revitalization of thread. Therefore, this paper proposes the extended web server which provides the technique for delay handling and improves the overload of server for better system capacity, communication support, and the unification which is the advantage of web service. And it evaluates the existing system(implemented at Tomcat 5.5) and the proposed mobile web server architecture. The extended server architecture provides excellent exchange condition for system capacity and evaluates improved web server architecture which combines multi-thread with thread pool. The proposed web service architecture in this paper got the better result of improved capacity benefit than the evaluation result of original Tomcat 5.5.

A Fault Tolerant Control Technique for Hybrid Modular Multi-Level Converters with Fault Detection Capability

  • In addition to its modular nature, a Hybrid Modular Multilevel Converter (HMMC) assembled from half-bridge and full-bridge sub-modules, is able to block DC faults with a minimum number of switching devices, which makes it attractive for high power applications. This paper introduces a control strategy based on the Root-Least Square (RLS) algorithm to estimate the capacitor voltages instead of using direct measurements. This action eliminates the need for voltage transducers in the HMMC sub-modules and the associated communication link with the central controller. In addition to capacitor voltage balancing and suppression of circulating currents, a fault tolerant control unit (FTCU) is integrated into the proposed strategy to modify the parameters of the HMMC controller. On advantage of the proposed FTCU is that it does not need extra components. Furthermore, a fault detection unit is adapted by utilizing a hybrid estimation scheme to detect sub-module faults. The behavior of the suggested technique is assessed using PSCAD offline simulations. In addition, it is validated using a real-time digital simulator connected to a real time controller under various normal and fault conditions. The proposed strategy shows robust performance in terms of accuracy and time response since it succeeds in stabilizing the HMMC under faults.

  • This paper proposes a way of expanding the use area of localization technique by using a beacon. In other words, we have developed the auto-calibration algorithm that recognizes the location of this beacon by attaching the beacon on an arbitrary position and by using the information of existing beacon under this situation. By doing so, the moving robot can overcome the limitation that the localization of moving robot is only possible within the area that has installed the existing beacon since the beacon cannot be installed on the accurate location when passing through a danger zone or an unknown zone. Accordingly, the moving robot can slowly move to the unknown zone according to this auto-calibration algorithm and can recognize its own location at a later time in a safe zone. The localization technique is essentially needed in using a moving robot and it is necessary to guarantee certain degree of reliability. Generally, moving robots are designed in a way to work well under the situation that the surroundings is well arranged and the localization techniques of using camera, laser and beacon are well developed. However due to the characteristics of sensor, there may be the cases that the place is dark, interfering radio waves, and/or difficult to install a beacon. The effectiveness of the method proposed in this paper has been proved through an experiment in this paper.

  • In general, under interactive broadcasting environment, user finds additional service using top-down menu. However, user can't know that additional service provides information until retrieval has finished and top-down menu requires multi-level retrieval. This paper proposes the new method for additional service providing not using top-down menu but using object selection. For the purpose of this method, the movie of a MPEG should be synchronized with the object information(position, size, shape) and object tracking technique is required. Synchronization technique uses the Directshow provided by the Microsoft. Object tracking techniques use a motion-based tracking and a model-based tracking together. We divide object into two parts. One is face and the other is substance. Face tracking uses model-based tracking and Substance uses motion-based tracking base on the block matching algorithm. To improve precise tracking, motion-based tracking apply the temporal prediction search algorithm and model-based tracking apply the face model which merge ellipse model and color model.

S-PRESENT Cryptanalysis through Know-Plaintext Attack Based on Deep Learning (딥러닝 기반의 알려진 평문 공격을 통한 S-PRESENT 분석)

  • Cryptanalysis can be performed by various techniques such as known plaintext attack, differential attack, side-channel analysis, and the like. Recently, many studies have been conducted on cryptanalysis using deep learning. A known-plaintext attack is a technique that uses a known plaintext and ciphertext pair to find a key. In this paper, we use deep learning technology to perform a known-plaintext attack against S-PRESENT, a reduced version of the lightweight block cipher PRESENT. This paper is significant in that it is the first known-plaintext attack based on deep learning performed on a reduced lightweight block cipher. For cryptanalysis, MLP (Multi-Layer Perceptron) and 1D and 2D CNN(Convolutional Neural Network) models are used and optimized, and the performance of the three models is compared. It showed the highest performance in 2D convolutional neural networks, but it was possible to attack only up to some key spaces. From this, it can be seen that the known-plaintext attack through the MLP model and the convolutional neural network is limited in attackable key bits.
