  • In this paper, a geometric nonlinear analysis procedure of beam-column element including multi-noded cable element is presented. For this, first a stiffness matrix about beam-column element which considers the second effect of initial force supposing the curved shape at each time step with Hermitian polynomials as the shape function is derived and second, tangent stiffness matrix about multi-noded cable element being too. To verify geometric nonlinearity of this newly developed multi-noded cable-truss element, IPS(Innovative Prestressed Support) system using this theory is analysed by geometric nonlinear method and the results are compared with those by linear analysis.

  • The system performance of naval multi function radar is affected by radar beam operation. Multi f function radar has to operate complicated beam better than search radar and tracking radar which have single operation. This paper describes fabricating analysis tool for the verification method for system performance of naval multi function radar. We composed the model that naval ship with MFR and radar which are detecting targets to verification the system performance. The targets are composed anti-aircraft and anti-ship. We integrate each model and make naval MFR simulator that applied resource management of track beam and search beam. We verify analysis tool by simulation in operating scenario after adjusting system parameter to analysis tool.

  • For Ka-band satellite communication system, a new flexible payload technologies which can compensate rain attenuation have to be developed. The Ka-band satellite output power control technology enables to adjust downlink output power of satellite payload in Ka-band (19.8 ~ 22.2 GHz). In this paper, we introduce multi-beam antenna with multi-port amplifiers for Ka-band flexible output power allocation system. We have designed multi-beam antenna with array-fed reflector to form 8 beams on the Korean Peninsula. The target EIRP per beam is more than 59 dBW. The system is designed to present 6 dB boost beams for rainfall areas. Individual beams were optimized by the excited amplitude and phase of feed elements of the feed cluster. The multi-port amplifier(MPA) is one of effective approaches for flexible power allocation in combination with multi-beam antenna. In case of using MPA in multi-beam system, the inter-port isolation characteristic of MPA is important parameter to avoid interference among the output ports. In this paper, we propose a new MPA structure that consists of two $4{\times}4$ Buttler matrixes and phase/amplitude controllable power amplifier modules.

  • The noise temperature of existing millimeter-wave receivers is already within two or three times quantum noise limit. One of practical ways to increase the observation speed of single dish radio telescope without longer integration time is use of multi-beam focal plane array receiver as demonstrated in several large single dish radio telescopes. In this context the TRAO (Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory), which operates a 143n Cassegrain radio telescope, is planning to develop a 4 x 4 beams focal plane array SIS receiver system for 86-115 GHz band. Even though millimeter-wave HEMT LNA-based receivers approach the noise temperature comparable to the SIS receiver at W-band, it is believed that the receiver based on SIS mixer seems to offer a bit more advantages. The critical part of the multi-beam array receiver will be sideband separating SIS mixers. Employing such a type of SIS mixer makes it possible to simplify the quasi-optics of receiver. Otherwise, an SSB filter should be used in front of the mixer or some sophisticated post-processing of observation data is needed. In this paper we will present a preliminary design concept and components needed for the development of a new 3 mm band multi-beam focal plane array receiver.

  • We have developed a multi-channel fiber laser for tiled laser beam combining and a laser output array system for multi-beam alignment. The fiber laser is a master oscillator power amplifier configuration that has a common seed, a preamplifier, and a 7-channel amplifier. The output power of each channel is more than 10 W. The laser output array system is a packed cylindrical configuration for a high fill-factor, and it has capabilities for collimation and tilt control with built-in PZT. Multi-beam alignment to a target is successfully implemented using PZT controlled with a stochastic parallel gradient descent (SPGD) algorithm.

  • In this paper, a simple and refined nonlocal hyperbolic higher-order beam theory is proposed for bending and vibration response of nanoscale beams. The present formulation incorporates the nonlocal scale parameter which can capture the small scale effect, and it considers both shear deformation and thickness stretching effects by a hyperbolic variation of all displacements across the thickness without employing shear correction factor. The highlight of this formulation is that, in addition to modeling the displacement field with only two unknowns, the thickness stretching effect (${\varepsilon}_z{\neq}0$) is also included in the present model. By utilizing the Hamilton's principle and the nonlocal differential constitutive relations of Eringen, the equations of motion of the nanoscale beam are reformulated. Verification studies demonstrate that the developed theory is not only more accurate than the refined nonlocal beam theory, but also comparable with the higher-order shear deformation theories which contain more number of unknowns. The theoretical formulation proposed herein may serve as a reference for nonlocal theories as applied to the static and dynamic responses of complex-nanobeam-system such as complex carbon nanotube system.

  • The expanded multi-Gaussian beam model has recently been developed that can calculate the radiation beam field from a single, rectangular transducer with great computational efficiency. In this study, this model is adopted to calculate the radiation beam field for a phased array transducer with various time delays to achieve steering and/or focusing. The calculation beam fields are compared to those obtained by well known Rayleigh-Sommerfeld integral that provides the exact solution in order to explore the validity of the expanded multi-Gaussian beam model And then, this study proposes a complete ultrasonic measurement model including the expanded beam model, far-field scattering model and system efficiency, Using the proposed model, phased array ultrasonic testing signals for a flat-bottomed hole with/without focusing were performed.

  • The combination of Multi-Beam Echo Sounder swath bathymetry and high-resolution towed Sidescan sonar provides a powerful method of examination about hydrographic survey results. In this paper, we investigate the fast method of 3D bathymetric reconstruction with the Digital Sidescan sonar(Benthos SIS 1500) and Shallow Multi-Beam Echo Sounder(Reson Seabat 8125). The Seabat 8125 is a 455KHz high resolution focused Multibeam echo sounder(MBES) system which measures the relative water depth across a wide swath perpendicular to a vessel's track. The Benthos SIS1500 is a chirp(nominal fq. 200KHz) sonar which map the topographical features & sediment texture of ocean bottom using backscattered amplitude. We generates the very large 3D bathymetric texture mapping model with the Helical System's HHViewer and describes additional benefits of combining MBES and Sidescan Sonar imagery, the removal of geometric distortions in the model and a deterministic sounding noise.

  • Ground anchors can be good solution in large and deep excavation. Anchored supports generally provide larger workspace than strut supports and good performances. The major benefit provided by these anchored systems was the open excavation area created by eliminating horizontal or raked struts, which generally inhibit rapid construction within the site area. In loose soils, however, anchors are sometimes hard to get high pullout anchor capacity, so that the spacing of anchor both horizontally and vertically is frequently controlled, in which the construction costs of anchors are increased. In order to increase anchor capacity, therefore, conceptual introduction of the multi-strand anchor is presented in this paper. Also, this study shows an numerical study of predicting the load transfer of the multi-strand anchor and a beam-column analysis was performed by a Elastic-Plastic beam theory.
